The Impact Show is THE podcast for strength & conditioning coaches, personal trainers and sports/fitness entrepreneurs who want to increase the impact they have on the people around them.
What if the key to reaching your full potential wasn't about what talents you were born with, but something more? In my conversation with Jake Thompson, we discuss how to grow your mindset, focus, and influence! Jake is passionate about helping others achieve success and overcome obstacles, and this interview will help you learn a great deal about what's helped him achieve success while building a business. Jake Thompson is a professional speaker and the Chief Encouragement Officer at Compete Every Day, a brand he started in 2011 by first selling t-shirts out of the trunk of his car. Jake is a third-generation entrepreneur, the youngest strategic advisory board member at the University of Dallas' College of Business, and a graduate of both Texas Christian University (B.S.) and University of Dallas (M.B.A.). In this episode, I share what it means to have the HEART of a leader, and that is to "Think Others First". During this difficult time, we have an opportunity to lead by giving of our time, talents, and resources to assist those who are less fortunate or in need of an encouraging word. This concept was taught to me by Randy Gravitt with Integreat Leadership - for more information, check out the following link: https://integreatleadership.com/ Also, I've been inspired by so many "Impact Show" contributors providing FREE resources! I know there's probably more people putting out great content (and don't worry, I'll continue to share as I see them!), but here are just a few I wanted to point everyone to at this point: Alan Stein has created a free resources page on his website: https://alansteinjr.com/free/ Jon Gordon is hosting a free online event - The Power of Positive Summit: https://www.powerofpositivesummit.com/ Jill Kochanek has a free video series available on "Growing Through Adversity: https://bothandcoaching.blog/informational-videos-narrated-content/ Some great free resources from Brett Bartholomew: https://artofcoaching.com/resources/ Free articles from StrengthCoach.com: https://www.strengthcoach.com/public/FreeArticles.cfm If you have any other resources to share or have a story of someone you know who is "Thinking Others First" and having an impact in their community, I want to hear about it! Please email me at mdiener@fca.org and I'd love to share with all of our listeners. Thanks so much!

In this episode, I share a concept I learned from the book "The Ideal Team Player" by Patrick Lencioni. For me, this concept of the 3 essential virtues (Humble, Hungry, Smart) has always been applied to hiring/ on-boarding staff, but I think it's very applicable when we look at developing leadership in our sports teams or even business teams. Before we can really trust members of our team to lead well, they need to embody these values or else they will struggle immensely to have an IMPACT. I hope this episode gives you a framework for this concept, and motivates you to want to read more and start assessing where your team is at so you can grow them in these areas. C = D x V x FS > R Want to know what this means and some thoughts on how you can apply this to your life and any situations you're dealing with in order to increase the impact you have on those around you? Then take a listen! I hope this adds value to your day and motivates you as we head into the weekend. If you have any questions or want to share how you're utilizing this formula, email me at mdiener@fca.org - thanks! Additional Resource: Formula for Change Article from w5 Coaching

In this episode, I am sharing part 2 of my conversation with David Jack. Here, we discuss what it means to be a Christian in the strength & conditioning field. We also dive into wisdom from The Bible by discussing what we can extract from Romans 12:1-5. If you are a coach or strength professional who wants to learn more or go deeper into this content, check out www.r12coach.com or feel free to contact me at mdiener@fca.org "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life". - John 3:16
David Jack One of the world's most recognized sports performance and conditioning coaches, David Jack creates experiences that help people discover, co-create, and activate the greatness that lies within them. "I believe that as we use our strengths; physical, mental, emotional and spiritual, to serve, we are given more. Fitness has been relegated to 6 pack abs, a faster 40, a bigger bench, a better Fran time. Goals are good, and they matter. But if all we train and prepare for is to improve our fitness metrics, or look better for others that judge us, then that's all we get. But as we cast our Eyes Up, and choose to Rise Up, acting out of inspiration with intention for purposes greater than self, amazing things begin to happen. When great people, places and things come together to create the change they seek in the world, the positive effects cascade forever. This is my mission, my activprayer: To use my God given gifts, talents and passions to inspire, connect, teach and share with others in an effort to change the way we look at fitness, ourselves and those around us. To help people get ready to be ready when they are called upon, becoming the who THEY were created to be, in order to do the WHAT ONLY THEY CAN DO." – David Jack Additional Resources: Find David Online (Activeight Fitness) Great Article from Wayne Goldsmith on Motivating Athletes Article about Focusing on One Thing at a Time (from Mission.org) 3 Ways to Remain Dedicated to Your Mission (Entrepreneur.com)
