In the latest episode of the Thrive by Design podcast, I had an inspiring conversation with Kristina Mand-Lahkiani, author of the empowering book, Becoming Flawesome. Kristina is also the co-founder of Mindvalley, the renowned personal development platform. Together, we explored the path to self-love and how it can transform your life. How we learn to be self-critical From a very young age, we are told that to succeed, we have to work on our weaknesses and mistakes. Kristina shared an example of what she calls the red marker technique, which goes like this… You write an essay, and your teacher takes a red marker and points out all of your mistakes, gives it back to you, and says, ‘Work on your mistakes, then you'll be a success.' This is a common paradigm in society, that reinforces our pattern of always looking for what's wrong and then trying to fix it. But there's another, less popular paradigm called the green marker technique. In this scenario, the teacher takes your essay and highlights everything you did really well, gives it back to you, and says, ‘Work on your strengths, and that's how you will succeed.' Our society typically doesn't work this way, but imagine if it did. Reinforcing Our Beliefs There is scientific evidence that if you believe in something, you're going to notice the evidence of that belief. The reticular activating system in your brain filters out the stimuli because you can't register everything. So instead, you notice what you focus on. And that's how our beliefs get reinforced. In addition to learning how to be self-aware, Kristina talks about: The impact of our beliefs and how they shape our reality The importance of self-awareness and its role in personal growth The dark side of personal development The key skills for self-love: honesty, kindness, and courage The dangers of narcissism and spiritual bypassing And so much more! If you're like many artists and jewelry designers and you struggle with self-criticism, today's episode is a must-listen. I guarantee you'll find it relatable and inspiring. Embrace your flawsome self and dive into the powerful conversation about self-love. Trust me, you're going to love it! Here are the resources mentioned in the show:

She is an international speaker, entrepreneur, artist, philanthropist, everyday life philosopher. Today on Feminine Roadmap Kristina Mand Lakhiani encourages listeners to beat perfectionism and become flawesome. Kristina spent her life achieving, striving, building and doing what she thought would make her happy. As co-founder of Mind valley, Kristina spent 20 years watching it go from a small home-based business to a world wide platform. At the end of that time she was surprised to find herself feeling unhappy then guilty for that unhappiness. This led her to take a sabbatical that helped her face her battle with perfectionism and helped her return to what she now deems her authentic self- warts and all. She realized that she loved to write so she wrote a book that helps readers begin to uncover their path back to themselves and in turn, live in their flawsomeness. Perfectionism requires us to try harder, do more, struggle to do better and what you're not good at which breeds fear of trying so we don't risk losing. Ironically, this is the exact thing that holds us back from living an aligned life, one that empowers us to shine, grow and bring our true value to the world around us. If perfectionism is our only standard, we will never arrive so naturally everything that doesn't reach that standard is something to be ashamed of or to feel bad about. Kristina has a lot to share that will help you overcome perfectionism and set your feet on a path that is meaningful for you. She encourages you to make an important shift in the relationship you have with yourself: instead of being judgmental, begin to be kind and curious. If you find yourself struggling with perfectionism and feeling unworthy, I encourage you to give yourself the gift of time to sit and listen to this conversation. Today on Sense of Soul Podcast we have Kristina Mänd-Lakhiani she is the co-founder of Mindvalley, the world's most powerful life transformation platform with an ever-growing 20 million-strong following. She is an entrepreneur, writer, international speaker, artist, and philanthropist based in Estonia and the author of two Mindvalley programs: Live by Your Own Rules and 7 Days to Happiness. Kristina's content has touched the lives of tens of thousands of students by providing wisdom, life hacks, and healthy habit-building formulas curated and inspired by her 20 years in the personal growth industry. She has created life-changing courses with the field's leading experts, such as Lisa Nichols, Michael B. Beckwith, Neale Donald Walsch, and many more. Kristina hosts her own podcast, Honest Conversations, and has interviewed over 200 specialists in the field of psychology and self-development. Kristina began her career in the Estonian government, followed by holding positions in non-profit organisations such as Oxfam and the United Nations. At the pinnacle of her success, she made the decision to leave her high-level job, move across the Atlantic, and start over—all in the name of love. Kristina married the man of her dreams and gave birth to her two darling children: Hayden and Eve. Her entrepreneurial adventures continued into motherhood, and Mindvalley, a company she and her then-husband co-founded together in New York City. Taking Mindvalley's expansion into post-soviet countries, Kristina found that there were many ups and downs in her journey to recovering from perfectionism. From a divorce and losing a powerful business partnership, to moving countries due to the Covid-19 pandemic of 2020, Kristina was challenged to face her shadow side, her fears, and her insecurities. As opposed to hiding her flaws, she went on to embrace and integrate them, loving herself not just despite them, but because of them. Kristina rediscovered who she really was and uncovered how to live true to herself, regardless of the toxic perfectionism that permeates our culture today. She now believes life is too important to be taken seriously; and chooses to live authentically through the flawesome philosophy highlighted in her latest book. Coming to understand that we are flawesome (flawed + awesome) and that not everyone is going to like us is a GAME CHANGER for many of us in recovery! When we realize that we're fine just as we are, and some people are just never gonna like us, life gets easier. I give a metaphor for thinking about this which is that - maybe you're a peach, and not everyone likes peaches. No one blames the peach, and no one blames the person for not liking peaches. Constructive questions help us construct a better version of ourselves. Destructive questions are just that - destructive. They destroy us - or at least inhibit our development. If you're sick and tired of the endless string of negative thoughts and self-judgment in your head, that can end! I'm living proof! It starts with awareness - awareness of what you're saying to yourself. You then need to analyze what those messages are and what they're doing to do you. They're crippling you, AND they're not making you into a better person. So stop! Stop that shit! Once you stop the negativity, you'll stop judging yourself. Ironically, that will lead to stopping your judgments of others as well. As your self-judgment diminishes, you'll feel more at ease and at peace in your life. Here are the links I promised:Secured, Loved & Brave membership community: https://higherpowercc.com/membership/Podcast episodes to help you untie the bundle:#5 Affirming Ourselves https://higherpowercc.com/2020/11/05/fragmented-to-whole-podcast-5-affirming-ourselves/ #6 Fear of Being Judged https://higherpowercc.com/2020/11/05/fragmented-to-whole-podcast-6-fear-of-being-judged/#83 Flawesome! https://higherpowercc.com/2021/03/12/83-flawesome/If you're a fan of this podcast and want to support it, please check me out Patreon.com/HigherPowerCoaching. Heroic Imperfect I'd like to invent the Heroic Imperfect Tense! This is the active state where you and I become progressively more vivacious and satisfying versions of ourselves without needing to be perfect at any point along the journey. As a plaque I have puts it so well: “Flawesome!” It would be a tense used that conveys we are perfectly OK with not being perfectly OK! I watched the silly film, “Shazam!” last night… and loved it! Spoiler alert! It's a 14-year-old boy who gets gifted with Superhero powers which manifest themselves in the form of an adult body. Yes, a 14-year-old's mind, values, and experience suddenly given super-powers and looking like an adult. What would you do? You don't need to imagine the chaos that follows… watch the film – it's a real ‘feel-good' treat. The key joy in this film for me was Billy/or/Shazam's lack of perfection. The character is a Flawesome work-in-progress, and all the more interesting for this. He's a troubled soul that finds a way to do something he's proud of. In the process, he discovers himself and what he truly values. I don't want to be a superhero, but I do want to have a life I'm progressively more satisfied with. “Heroic,” is probably too much too but I'd like to do well! Caroline is brilliant at finding the right quote for the blog each day at Moodscope, so I thought I'd learn from her and share three gems that resonated with me. Benjamin Disraeli said, “Nurture your mind with great thoughts. To believe in the heroic makes heroes.” (Lex said, “Start with watching ‘Shazam!'”) Theodore Roosevelt said, “Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.” Frankly, I think we are uncomfortable around those who are too perfect. They do not compare favourably with most people's self-image. Let me close then with what I thought was an insightful quote from Edward Everett Hale: “I cannot do everything, but still, I can do something. And because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do the something that I can do.” May you have an inspiring day where you find the motivation and means and opportunity to do something imperfectly heroic! Hey, Girl! Did you know that you could be flawed and still be awesome? Yup! Our "flaws" are what make us who we are. You can be a masterpiece and a work in progress! Let's get into it. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Welcome to my podcast. I cannot wait to share with you my ideas on how to love yourself and embrace your best life. Yes we are all flawed humans! But that is what makes us who we are!
In this episode I talk about moving away from the black-and-white thinking that if we're flawed, that means we're not awesome. It's perfectly normal to be flawed, and it's ok to let others see your flaws. When you accept your own flaws, you'll become more accepting of other people's flaws too!If you want monthly inspiration in your inbox, sign up for my newsletter "Happy, Joyous and Free" at HigherPowerCC.com.Please follow me on Instagram @HigherPowerCoaching, and check out my podcast website fragmentedtowhole.com.
