Digital transformation has long by now been a cornerstone of modern governance, reshaping how societies function and how services are delivered. How often, though, does the conversation evolve beyond efficiency gains and automation? In this special episode, Kristina Mänd, Programme Director of the e-Governance Conference 2025, joins us to explore:

Genstart - DR's nyhedspodcast

Program publiceret i DR Lyd d. 31. januar 2025.

Kristina Mänd-Lakhiani is the co-founder of Mindvalley, the world's most powerful life transformation platform. She's the author of Becoming Flawsome: The Key to Living an Imperfectly Authentic Life. Kristina speaks about personal transformation, authenticity, understanding and accepting oneself and a path to happiness.Quotes:“Authenticity is the force without direction, because it's your relationship with yourself. The moment you use authenticity in your relationship with the outside world, you give this force a direction.” [10:04] Authenticity is being true to yourself. Does this mean speaking the truth? Being blunt? Being rude? No. Kristina explains the difference between behaviors and authenticity, there is no particular behavior that is authentic because it will depend on the true value and self of an individual.“There are so many facets and layers to living with perfectionism; it's not just recognizing that you have it but actually being functional with it.” [21:09] As Kristina explains the barriers of perfectionism, she shares how to move past them. If you have lived all of your life as a perfectionist, this will not simply change overnight. She challenges you to consider your idea of failure. What is failure to you? Try to reconceptualize it. “Honesty starts with the very simple realization...  I may be wrong.” [26:32] Imposter syndrome is easily combated with the idea that you don't know everything. Kristina says, when you realize that at any point in the day, about anything you can be wrong, a strong weight is lifted. “For our society, vulnerability is the dose of medicine that we have to take because we have forgotten the true face behind our polished facade.” [39:15] Kristina speaks on the buzzword and quality everyone talks about, vulnerability. What is vulnerability, and why is it important? She explains the place and purpose of vulnerability.  It's more than sharing an inspiring story. It is being brave without certainty of the outcome. “We don't know how self love looks; we're afraid of it; we don't understand it. We confuse self love with self care, with selfishness, and with being self obsessed. We confuse self love with indulgence with complacency. We're afraid of it; we don't know how it looks. That's why we do the rituals; it makes us feel a bit better." [55:25] What is the difference between self love? Kristina explains it as the complex relationship in which we care for ourselves. And in one of Marcel's final questions about leading with practical love, she says that in order to bring more love and kindness into your organization or any other facet of your life, you must bring more love and kindness into your relationship with yourself. Mentioned in this episode:Kristina Mänd-Lakhianiflawesomeb – Kristina Mänd-Lakhiani, Author & Mindvalley Co-FounderKristina Mänd-Lakhiani (@kristinamand) on InstagramKristina Mand-Lakhiani on LinkedInMindvalleyMarcel Schwantes onLinkedInMarcel Schwantes

I'm wrapping up my four part series on Authenticity where I brought Kristina Mänd-Lakhiani on as the expert. Our muse was the message in her new book, Becoming Flawesome: The Key to Living An Imperfectly Authentic Life. Kristina again is the cofounder of Mindvalley, a life transformation platform boasting a 20 million strong following, which has afforded her massive exposure to the personal development space and the good and bad of it. Something I have been privy to as well. I'm going to address that in this episode, and I want to also bring attention to what I feel is the number one issue around this topic of authenticity. I feel the key to being the authentic you is to discover, probably for the first time, who that actually is. And further, I'll claim that becoming the authentic you is an ongoing process you can be evolving towards your entire life. I say can evolve to, as it's not a given. As Robin Sharma says, and I paraphrase, you don't live the same day over and over for 75 years and call it a life, or an evolution. We have to choose to evolve and continually discover our authentic selves.  The Self Helpful podcast is brought to you by Ziglar, your premier source for equipping coaches. In June 2023, with the help of Hay House Publishing, Kristina releases her very first book - "Becoming Flawesome". In her book, Kristina shares her own journey from being on top of a personal growth empire like Mindvalley to stepping aside, conscious uncoupling from her husband, and walking her path towards being more honest with herself. Perfection. We all dream of living by it, feeling it, being it... And it is in the name of perfection, we demonise our flaws, make ourselves ‘less-than,' and render ourselves vulnerable to the shame of not being good enough. We live in a society that subliminally encourages us to wear metaphorical masks, slay our inner sadness, and ignore our imperfections, or as Kristina refers to them, her ‘dragons.' Kristina is a truly remarkable teacher, talented international speaker, entrepreneur, artist, philanthropist, and mother of 2 kids. She is an author of a transformational quest, "7 Days To Happiness" and "Live By Your Own Rules.” She was recognized as one of the Top 10 influential people online making a difference in the world today and was awarded the Influencers For Change (IFC) by the Global Impact Creators (GIC). In her book Becoming Flawsome, Kristina Mänd-Lakhiani talks about embracing our flaws to live our most authentic lives. She shares her notes on how she, too, lost herself and how she decided to reclaim her authenticity. She claims that authenticity and honesty are binary. They are either there, or they are not. There is no in-between. Kristina challenges you to face your flaws, look them in the eyes, and...embrace them in order to lead you to your authentic self. She uses her own life as an example to guide you through the various techniques that you will learn throughout the book. Each chapter addresses a different issue that you, the reader, may face, ranging from acknowledging and accepting your feelings and the pressure to be perfect to finally breaking free from the rut. The book is filled with reflection points, exercises, and experiments that will assist you in confronting and working through your feelings. Becoming Flawsome is about giving yourself the space to be kind to yourself. It is about learning to remove your mask and show the world and, most importantly, yourself, who you truly are and lead this intricate dance called life without fear. I'm back for part two with Kristina Mänd-Lakhiani, cofounder of MindValley and author of Becoming Flawesome: The Key to Living An Imperfectly Authentic Life. This is my What Drives You episode where I walk with Kristina through her personal Values & Habits. It's in the category of Health & Wellness where she shares her perspective that being happy does more for her than anything else. A point I think we miss as we give all our focus to what we eat, how we sleep, and getting good sleep. She also attests to being European and drinking wine, eating chocolate and having an active lifestyle that includes kickboxing classes. Other highlights; she feels we often hide behind spiritual concepts rather than dealing with emotions. Regarding her mental state she strives to be kind with herself and to replace judgment with curiosity. In her work she wants to make sure that in whatever she's digging for, that she also enjoys the digging itself. Wise counsel.  Quick note, if you like to watch your podcasts, you can now get this full episode on YouTube, just type in Self helpful with Kevin Miller. I continue to be enamored with this tension of being self-aware and being true to yourself, while also being sensitive to others and respecting who and how they are. We tend to fall on the side of “just being me” and being raw and unfiltered which is likely to get you ostracized, or just performing for others and being untrue to yourself and in essence being dishonest to those you care about. I've fallen on the latter side most of my life and just people pleased to make everyone happy, which is exhausting and leads me to just retreating from everyone. This doesn't help me or them. My expert guest for this series is Kristina Mänd-Lakhiani You'll likely know her as the cofounder of Mindvalley, which is billed as “the world's most powerful life transformation platform with an ever-growing 20 million-strong following.” They boast the teaching and trainings of many of the personalities I've had here on my podcast. Kristina is an entrepreneur, writer, international speaker, artist, and philanthropist. She grew up in the former Soviet Union and has a tremendous story of overcoming. Today she's based in Estonia and my muse is her new book, Becoming Flawesome: The Key to Living An Imperfectly Authentic Life. Like me, Kristina has spent decades in the personal development industry and in this episode we candidly discuss the dark side of personal growth and how it can feed our insecurities. How it can leave you feeling you are never enough and tire you out with a feeling of constant striving. Kristina has a heart for people who, like her, realize they have become a missing person in their own life.” She cites that you won't find peace being even 95% honest and authentic if you're still 5% fake or performing. This is a message I really wanted to dig into for myself and I believe you'll resonate with it. The Self Helpful podcast is brought to you by Ziglar, your premier source for equipping coaches. Kristina hosts her own podcast, Honest Conversations, and has interviewed over 200 specialists in the field of psychology and self-development. Kristina began her career in the Estonian government, followed by holding positions in non-profit organisations such as Oxfam and the United Nations. At the pinnacle of her success, she made the decision to leave her high-level job, move across the Atlantic, and start over—all in the name of love. Kristina married the man of her dreams and gave birth to her two darling children: Hayden and Eve. Her entrepreneurial adventures continued into motherhood, and Mindvalley, a company she and her then-husband co-founded together in New York City. Taking Mindvalley's expansion into post-soviet countries, Kristina found that there were many ups and downs in her journey to recovering from perfectionism. From a divorce and losing a powerful business partnership, to moving countries due to the Covid-19 pandemic of 2020, Kristina was challenged to face her shadow side, her fears, and her insecurities. As opposed to hiding her flaws, she went on to embrace and integrate them, loving herself not just despite them, but because of them. Kristina rediscovered who she really was and uncovered how to live true to herself, regardless of the toxic perfectionism that permeates our culture today. She now believes life is too important to be taken seriously; and chooses to live authentically through the flawesome philosophy highlighted in her latest book. Digital development has gone fast in the past two decades. Largely on its own momentum, as tools and their applications come to impact both more deeply and extensively different spheres of life. Also, due to unprecedented events and circumstances – see, the pandemic – that sped up digital adoption. The question is, what fell in the cracks of such transformation? Who, if at all, has been left behind? Two of e-Governance Academy's top e-democracy experts come together in this podcast episode – Kristina Mänd, Senior Expert on hosting duties, and Kristina Reinsalu, Programme Director. Twenty years of digital engagement and participation deepened ties between governments and citizens, but not without challenges and new, digital social risks to address. This podcast is dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the e‑Governance Academy, to sum up the most influential digital developments in the last two decades and shed light on how it shapes the digital transformation topics and priorities in the near future. There will also be an e-Democracy session at the upcoming 2023 e-Governance Conference entitled "Nothing for us without us: Empowering the digitally vulnerable". “The more digital and connected we are, the more societies are exposed to new types of vulnerability,” Reinsalu points out. Tackling digital vulnerability means preventing people from falling into the cracks of the new, digital social risks stemming from accelerated development.Something that only effective engagement can support. “Because engagement makes us bigger, as a nation, culture, society.” The point of engagement, “is not to find a solution that makes everyone happy, but to take decisions that solve particular problems the best way,” Mänd concludes. “And it's not just the result that you can be happy with, but the process too, how we get there.”

Kristina Mänd-Lakhiani, is a successful entrepreneur, international speaker, and artist. Kristina cofounded Mindvalley, a global school that delivers transformational education to those who want to create their own unique path in life. Kristina brings a female perspective to company leadership as an advocate for people to experience happiness within themselves. Having traveled the globe on retreats such as Maverick 1000 on Necker Island to gain a clear perspective, Kristina understands that you must start the journey to happiness and joy with self-love and acceptance. Kristina spends her days traveling the globe educating people on how to be a happier version of themselves. She shares her proven strategies in this One Big Tip podcast episode. Kristina's journey to where she is today started with tearing herself down to build herself up. Like a phoenix rising, she realized that to be truly happy with her life, she needed to begin with self-love and acceptance. An author and life philosopher at heart, Kristina started in government service. She then segued into business, only to be disappointed with her station in life, and so began Kristina's journey to awareness, internal acceptance, and joy. Today, Kristina shares the stage with other great speakers and educates others on personal growth. Kristina learned through her journey that being your authentic self is where the beauty in life lies. Every one of us is perfectly imperfect, which makes the world go round. It's an integral part of growth when you can accept yourself, flaws, and all. That's the best way to move forward and find true success. As a public speaker, Kristina is aware of people's struggles when presenting their thoughts and ideas to others while onstage. One tactic Kristina uses is not to rehearse her presentation because she doesn't believe in a polished life. It's within the parameter of imperfection that reality lies. There's a delicate balance between being authentic and being prepared. Another trick Kristina employs when public speaking is understanding her value and not comparing herself to others. Someone will always be better, faster, more articulate, or more captivating. You need to learn to be comfortable with who you are. The more you show yourself self-love and acceptance, the easier it is to be kind towards yourself when you take a misstep in life, which often happens as a public speaker. As a society, we have become accustomed to listening to those with big followings on social media platforms, but the truth is that what they have to say is not always as profound as it's made out to be. As a society, we've become star-struck and create halo's around other human beings for no reason other than they have a large following. This is why Kristina chooses to focus on the essence of life and what is essential rather than what is on the outside, or as she calls it, a facade. As a self-proclaimed life philosopher who focuses on helping others actualize their inner happiness, one thing Kristina doesn't believe in is fixing people. Kristina doesn't use that terminology because it implies they were broken. Instead, Kristina views people as wounded, and they need to heal. Healing is a different process. It's not something that makes you necessarily better. The adage “What doesn't kill you makes you stronger” is not something that Kristina adheres to. Kristina learned from her personal experience and client interactions that how we come out of trauma or heartbreak is different for each of us. We all come out of it, but some may come out weaker and softer rather than stronger and bolder. It all depends on our internal makeup or mindset and how we see the world. Another concept Kristina speaks publicly about is success and confidence. The only thing you can do to succeed in life is to believe in your value. That's how to grow your self-confidence. Everyone who's ever made anything of...
