For eighteen years (1983-2001) a fixture of radio & television's Howard Stern Show, comedian Jackie “The Joke Man” Martling was born and raised in East Norwich, a tiny hamlet on the glorious North Shore of Long Island, New York. He graduated in 1966 from Oyster Bay High School and earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan State University in 1971. In March, 1979, he created a dirty joke line, “Use Your Finger! Dial (516) 922-WINE!,” which has been in uninterrupted operation since 1979 [516-922-9463].The jokes worked. Jackie released three self-produced comedy lp's, 1979's “What Did You Expect?,” 1980's “Goin' Ape!,” and 1981's “Normal People Are People You Don't Know That Well” on his own label, OHR Records. In 1982, after founding “Governor's Comedy Shop” in Levittown on Long Island and touring as a national headliner, on a suggestion from a Washington DC comedy club owner, he blindly sent his three LP's to Howard Stern upon Howard's arrival at WNBC-AM in New York City. Howard called him to make a guest appearance on his radio show. In 1986, Jackie became a full-time cast member and the head writer of Stern's show, and as they say, the rest is history. Remarkable radio as well as show business history.Jackie left the Stern show in 2001 after fifteen-year run as head writer of the radio show, four television series, and three Pay-Per-Views. I have always been inspired by redemption stories of people who screw their life up and then completely turn it around and positively impact the world. I genuinely hope that you enjoyed Frank Vignola's story of his life growing up, the wrong path that he was headed down which would have ended with him dead or in prison, the two people that were able to reach him, how he turned his life around, masculinity, the current state of society, and how to reach all of the lost men in this world.#interview #redemption #lgbt #gaypride #personaldevelopment #lifecoach #menshealth #lifehacks Official merchandise store:https://masculinejasonofficial.comJoin this channel to get access to the perks:https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCB1TqH8fTgss84OwaKj_uQQ/joinMy Social Media :Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/masculinejasonTiktok: https://www.tiktok.com/@masculinejasonFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/masculinejasonLinktree: https://linktr.ee/masculinejasonMy Amazon Wishlist :https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/3E2IMEQGWK2F9?ref_=wl_shareLIKE, SHARE, AND SUBSCRIBE.TURN ON POST NOTIFICATIONS.Support the show

Building vital relationships and providing real opportunities to our listeners. Rothberg along with his co host, the Godmother of Indie Films, Rose Ganguzza. Jackie Martling is a stand-up comedian, writer, radio personality, author and actor.  In 1979, to help promote the fledgling comedy shows he was producing, he created a "dial-a-joke" telephone line in his parents' attic, "Use Your Finger! (516) 922-WINE." A big break for Jackie was when the top Los Angeles drive-time radio show, The Rick Dees Show, discovered the line and hired Jackie to star in his own designated joke segment. It was then that Rick Dees gave Martling his nickname, "The Joke Man." Jackie is best known for his eighteen years as head writer and a cast member on the Howard Stern Show. A comedy headliner since 1979, he has released three comedy lp's, six 78-minute dirty joke CDs, three videos, a DVD (A Safe Distance from Genius), six joke books including 1998's best-selling Simon & Schuster title, Jackie "The Joke Man" Martling's Disgustingly Dirty Joke Book and the iPhone app The Jackie Button.  Martling appeared as himself in the comedy documentary The Aristocrats and the comedy film Comedy's Dirtiest Dozen. He has been featured in many films, including Mail Order Bride, Venus & Vegas, White Irish Drinkers and Send No Flowers. Martling released his first music album, Happy Endings, in 2007, co-produced by guitarist Frank Vignola. In 2010, Martling wrote and performed a one-man show that ran in New York City titled JokeLand on Broadway. His autobiography “The Joke Man: Bow to Stern,” was published in 2017. The guitar, the apparatus, the mode of communication chosen by my guests. One of them came from over seas after cutting his teeth, honing his chops and getting lit in the progressive music scene of England. The other growing up in suburban Long Island which at the time was veritable cow country compared to today's population explosion. Both my guests came of age before interconnection, when individual sound was considered vogue and confidence in that individual sound was built through steady gigs in a band with Stephane Grapelli, or David Dawg Grisman playing riffs and chords integrated within the gypsy swing. These gentleman on my program today played alongside their heroes like Barney Kessel and Bucky Pizzerelli Keeping the roots music alive through acoustic vibrato in any and all musical settings carrying the torch for those since departed like Joe Pass, Wes Montgomery and Django Reinhardt. Some audiences are more bluesy, some more classical, some are digital. My guests along with their counterparts Vinny Raniolo and Peppino D'Agostino will attempt to engage their audience because Along Came Betty with A Waltz For Debby. But like most artists neither of these cats has had an easy journey. They have suffered from musical traumas, in one case nearly walking away from the instrument all together. It's inspirational that both my guests are headlining the Acoustic Super Group Great Guitars who open up at Yoshii's in Oakland tomorrow night!

As he was accumulating the world's most extensive collection of jokes, Jackie toiled in the music business until abandoning it in 1979, saying farewell to his beloved trio “The Off Hour Rockers,” to give his punch lines a shot on the not-yet-existent Long Island comedy stages. To promote Long Island's first comedy show that he and fellow fledgling comedian Richie Minervini partnered in producing at the bar-restaurant “Cinnamon” in Huntington, Long Island, in March 1979, he created a dirty joke line, “Use Your Finger! Dial (516) 922-WINE!,” which has been in uninterrupted operation since 1979 [516-922-9463]. The jokes worked. Remarkable radio as well as show business history. Jackie left the Stern show in 2001 after a fifteen-year run as head writer of the radio show, four television series, and three Pay-Per-Views. He's released six dirty joke CD's … “The Joke Man,” “Sgt. Pecker,” “Hot Dogs & Donuts,” Come Again?!,” F. jackie,” and “snart,” as well as three videos, five joke books and countless joke gadgets of all kinds, for children as well as adults. If you'd like to receive jokes via e-mail, you can get on The JokeLand E-Mail List by simply e-mailing Jackie: He Tweets a joke every day at 4:20 pm… you can follow him on Twitter, @jackiemartling … In 2006 he released a CD of his original music entitled “Happy Endings,” that he co-produced with guitar legend Frank Vignola. From 2007-2014, Jackie wrote and performed his own radio show on SiriusXM Satellite Radio, “Jackie's Joke Hunt,” and he wrote the joke page for Penthouse magazine for 17 years. Jackie is featured in the red-hot comedy documentary, “The Aristocrats,” over a dozen other independent films, and has appeared on many television shows. He still works all around the country performing his solo act of rapid-fire filthy jokes and the classic finale, “Stump The Joke Man.” and guests on many of the top national radio shows and podcasts. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/melissabillieclark/support
