Cunningham⁠, the film is the first installment in the ⁠House film series⁠, and stars ⁠William Katt⁠, ⁠George Wendt⁠, ⁠Richard Moll⁠, and ⁠Kay Lenz⁠. The film centers on Roger Cobb, a troubled author who moves into his late aunt Elizabeth Hooper's seemingly ⁠haunted house⁠, and is forced to deal with supernatural phenomenon. All the while, he tries to solve the mystery of his son Jimmy's disappearance.Despite mixed reviews, House grossed $22.1 million worldwide on a $3 million budget, making it a financial success. The film has since gone on to become a ⁠cult favorite⁠ among genre fans, and was followed by three ⁠sequels⁠.

We discuss the phenomenon of how the original film became arguably the single most influential movie for the subsequent 80's horror boom, despite being widely regarded as inferior even within its own franchise. To end out #AuGHOST, a celebration of the ghost films released by New World Pictures, we talk about a movie that started a franchise (albeit one New World only half participated In): HOUSE! The film about a haunted house taken over by a deceased owner's nephew with his own strange history brought director Steve Miner and producer Sean S. Cunningham into the New World fold, just as they had finished working on the first three FRIDAY THE 13TH films! Miner would quickly become a go-to director for New World, while Cunningham would shepherd the rest of the franchise, which we will rank in this episode! Also we will discuss the incredible George Wendt, how to flirt your way into getting free babysitting, the wrong way to cook a microwave dinner, and Marc's fascination with toilet flushing!
