“You see, Jason was my son, and today is his birthday.” We're back talking about an iconic 80s slasher for October, or shall we say our favorite slasher mother! We broke out our Friday the 13th box set and watched the original 1980 movie. Released on the coat tails of John Carpenter's Halloween to capitalize on the masked psycho killer craze. Made for a slim budget of $550,000, but becoming a sleeper hit and eventual genre touchstone of the decade. We talk about the classic slasher elements its writer, Victor Miller, and director, Sean S. Cunningham, put in their “rip-off” of Halloween. We add some of our favorite Friday hunks to the list. We see you, Peter, in your cut-offs and neck handkerchief! But more importantly, we give Betsy Palmer her flowers for her iconic performance as Mrs. Voorhees, the gag of all gags in horror movies. On this week's episode we return to the world of the big 3 slasher franchises to discuss the "Magnificent Sevens" and up first we go to Crystal Lake to discuss Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood. Journey with us as we discuss this wild sequel that pits Jason against a telepath in the first film to feature Kane Hodder as the hockey mask killer. Does this film represent the downward spiral of the franchise or does it have some cult film appeal? So pour some rye, grab a can of Slice soda, and be sure to stay away from sleeping bags. Cheers!

Friday the 13th 2 is a 1981 American slasher film produced and directed by Steve Miner in his directorial debut, and written by Ron Kurz. It is the sequel to Friday the 13th (1980), and the second installment in the franchise. Adrienne King, Betsy Palmer, and Walt Gorney reprise their respective roles from the first film as Alice Hardy, Pamela Voorhees, and Crazy Ralph. Amy Steel and John Furey also star. Taking place five years after the first film, Part 2 follows a similar premise, with an unknown stalker killing a group of camp counselors at a training camp near Crystal Lake. The film marks the debut of Jason Voorhees as the series' main antagonist.
