The SAMSAM attacks hit U.S. cities like Baltimore and Atlanta, marking Iran's brief foray into ransomware. Ransomware became a household name, sparking executive-level discussions in boardrooms.   2020: The Rise of Ransomware-as-a-Service Groups like Ryuk, REvil, and Conti refined ransomware into a business model, outsourcing tasks like initial access and money laundering. Double extortion emerged, with attackers stealing data and threatening to leak it, even if backups were restored. Some groups introduced “terms of service,” avoiding hospitals and schools to dodge law enforcement scrutiny.   2021: Critical Infrastructure in the Crosshairs High-profile attacks on Colonial Pipeline, JBS Foods, and Ireland's National Health Service disrupted daily life, from gas shortages to meat supply issues. These incidents underscored ransomware's real-world impact, elevating cybersecurity to a boardroom priority.   2022: Geopolitical Shifts and New Players Russian-backed groups like Conti and LockBit shifted focus to Ukraine amid the Russia-Ukraine conflict. The rise of Scattered Spider, a Western-based group excelling at social engineering and SIM swapping, marked a shift from Eastern state-tolerated actors.   2023: Trust Breaks Down The ALFV/BlackCat group's $22 million rug pull against affiliates signaled the decline of Russian-backed ransomware dominance. Scattered Spider solidified its reputation, targeting major hospitality and cleaning companies with sophisticated social engineering tactics.   2025: The Western Cybercrime Surge Scattered Spider and affiliates like DragonForce dominate, hitting retailers, insurance, aviation, and automotive sectors. The shift to Western-based actors, often young and operating in Five Eyes nations, makes them more vulnerable to law enforcement.   Trends and Takeaways The move from expensive zero-day exploits to cheaper n-day exploits and social engineering highlights attackers' adaptability. Double extortion and even “double dipping” (demanding additional ransoms months later) have become standard tactics. The accessibility of AI tools and open-source platforms like Venice AI has lowered the barrier for creating ransomware, even for non-programmers. A 100 éve született Sam Peckinpah (1925-1984), a „Vad banda”, a „Szalmakutyák” és „A szökés” alkotója minden bizonnyal az egyik legvizuálisabb és legintenzívebb látásmódú amerikai filmrendező volt az 1960-as és 1970-es években. Ellentmondásos személyiségében a kedves, nagyműveltségű író és a munkatársait is terrorizálni képes, kemény direktor keveredett, gyakran az elfogyasztott alkohol és drog mennyiségétől függően. Nem véletlenül kapta a „Véres Sam” becenevet a vásznon megjelenő brutális vérengzések iránti vonzódása miatt. Állandó szabályszegései és lázadó személyisége több producernek is gyomorfekélyt okozott: nem rejtette véka alá, hogy nem tetszett neki a stúdiórendszer, és több alkalommal is nyílt összetűzésbe került a stúdiók vezetésével. Ennek ellenére sikerült merész és határokat feszegető filmeket készítenie, 1969 és 1974 között forgatott filmjeivel nem tudott hibázni. Kedvenc műfaja a western volt, a Vadnyugat hanyatlásában meglátta a nihilizmus, a férfiasság és a kompromisszumos erkölcs témáit, ami rezonált a kiábrándult amerikai ifjúság ízlésével. Filmjei újszerűségről, régimódi karakterekről és klasszikus szerkezetéről is emlékezetesek. A régi és az új világ egymás mellé állítása számos történetében is megjelenik. Nála az erőszak nem a sokkolás eszköze: a tiszta morális szándékokkal szembenálló brutális és közömbös világot jelképezi. Ezért megosztóak a filmjei, attól függően, hogy a néző mennyire tudta elviselni a valósághűen véres képeket. Stilisztikailag az úttörő vágástechnikája és a szuperlassított felvételek használata egyedi hangulatot teremtett, különösen a lövöldözések és a verekedések jeleneteiben. Privát életében a morális kiállás nem kapcsolódott össze vallási kérdésekkel, bár élete második felében Mexikóban is élt és szívesen használta a katolikus szimbólumokat. A hetvenes évek második felében függőségei miatti gyors hangulatváltozásai és lojális kollégák elmaradása következtében kevéssé foglalkoztatták, állandó kockázatként kezelték.Peckinpah forradalmi hatása tovább él Hollywoodban. Nemcsak John Woo, Tony Scott, de minden akciófilmet forgató rendező merített munkásságából. Kevésbé koherens filmjei is hangulatosak, stílusosak. 59 évesen Hollywood egyik leglázadóbb és leginspirálóbb filmrendezőjeként hunyt el. I 10-året for flygtningekrisen genfortæller vi historien bag billedet af 'Spyttemanden'. Vi taler også om Højesterets dramatiske opgør med efterretningstjenesterne, og så skal vi til autokratisk topmøde i Beijing   Husker du billedet af Spyttemanden? Ham, som stod på en motorvejsbro i Rødby og spyttede efter de flygtninge, som gik nede på vejen? Billedet blev et af de mest ikoniske billeder på flygtningekrisen i 2015, men det fik også store konsekvenser for den kvinde på billedet, som fejlagtigt blev forvekslet med spyttemandens kone – og det blev skyld i både søvnløse timer og flere års dårlig samvittighed for Informations fotograf Sigrid Nygaard, der stod bag kameraet. I anledning 10-året fortæller hun hele historien om 'Spyttemanden' – og den mediestorm, som siden fulgte. Ugens sensationelle dom i Samsam-sagen er et led i et dramatisk opgør om retsstaten, og budskabet fra Højesteret til efterretningstjenesterne er ikke til at misforstå: Ret ind. Der er grænser for, hvad tjenesterne kan slippe af sted med at hemmeligholde. Og forstod de det ikke med Findsen-sagen, så har Højesteret nu gentaget pointen i sagen om Samsam. Tirsdag beordrede landets højesteret – helt undtagelsesvis – vores to efterretningstjenester til offentligt at gå ud og indrømme, at Ahmed Samsam har arbejdet for dem som agent. Den højeste retsinstans har dermed tvunget efterretningstjenesterne til at gøre noget, som de normalt aldrig gør. Hvis den indrømmelse var faldet for nogle år siden, da Ahmed Samsam tryglede og bad efterretningstjenesterne om hjælp, var han sikkert sluppet for flere års fængsel. Så hvordan endte vi her? Mette Frederiksen vandt armlægningen mod Lars Løkke Rasmussen. Når regeringen skal nå til enighed om en økonomisk plan, bliver det ikke - som Løkke ønskede - en gigantisk plan, der rækker langt ud i fremtiden. I stedet har han selv fremlagt sin plan for danskernes pension, og det er ifølge Løkkes tidligere rådgiver et perfekt afsæt til en valgkamp, hvor Løkke så kan tørne sammen med Mette Frederiksen. Hvorfor er spørgsmålet om vindmøller og solceller blevet så vigtigt i Ringkjøbing-Skjern? Skal PET og FE forpligtes til at sige om Samsam var agent? Hvordan bør virksomheder agere, når de oplever trusler mod ansatte udefra? Dagens værter: Søren Carlsen og Thomas Tjaerandsen.

En af årtiets vigtigste højesteretsdomme om forholdet mellem borger og stat. Sådan karakteriserer professor i forfatningsret Frederik Waage den dom, som syv Højesteretsdommere netop nu sidder og forbereder, inden thi kendes for ret den 2. september. Dommen er endnu et skridt i udviklingen af Grundlovens § 63, og det er historien om borgerens ret og statens immunitet. Advokaterne leverede deres argumenter den 19. august, og Waage var en af få professorer, der var til stede som tilhører i Højesteret, hvor han var stærkt begejstret over det håndværk og de argumenter, henholdsvis statens og Samsams advokater leverede. Kernen i sagen, og det der helt overordnet er på spil, bliver udlagt af professoren, der også forklarer, hvorfor han anser beslutninger, som retssystemet allerede har taget – selvom de ikke har taget stilling til Samsams fundamentale spørgsmål – som retshistoriske. His inspiration for The Coop came during a visit to Brooklyn, where he struggled to find reliable internet while working remotely from his girlfriend's cramped apartment. After an unsuccessful attempt to work from a local café, Sam discovered coworking through a space called "The Change You Want to See." He was immediately drawn to the community-driven atmosphere and knew he wanted to bring this model back to Chicago.As Sam's career evolved, so did his business interests. By 2010, he had developed proprietary software to manage The Coop's operations, including billing and scheduling. This software became the foundation for his next company, DeskTime, which he eventually sold. However, DeskTime was just a precursor to what would become his most successful venture to date: Deskpass.Deskpass, the platform Sam currently helms, is designed to meet the growing demand for flexible workspaces. Remote and hybrid teams can use Deskpass to find coworking spaces across the globe, giving them the flexibility to work from various locations. Unlike traditional coworking companies like WeWork, which tie members to specific locations, Deskpass operates as a marketplace, offering a wide variety of workspaces without owning any real estate.Today, Deskpass plays a pivotal role in the evolving landscape of remote work. The platform not only connects users with coworking spaces but also provides businesses with a way to offer remote and hybrid work options to their employees. Sam's story is a testament to the power of innovation, resilience, and the ability to forge one's own path. You can retire with rental properties faster than you think. That's right, toss out the “wait until I'm sixty-five and HOPE I have enough” mentality. That might be okay for most Americans, but it's NOT okay for YOU. You want passive income flowing in so you can spend time with your family and friends and live a life you love. If you're going to get there, you better take advice from Sam Dolciné. A few years ago, Sam calculated his retirement savings and realized he wasn't even CLOSE to what he would need in retirement. Even after the monthly contributions and employer match, Sam would run out of retirement savings in only ten years of retirement. So, he started looking up ways to boost his retirement income. Real estate investing popped up, and Sam began devouring all the investing content he could. Now, he's managing a portfolio of out-of-state rental properties that bring in some serious cash flow. The best part about Sam's portfolio? It's “turnkey,” meaning Sam was able to buy the properties and immediately rent them out, giving him cash flow within WEEKS of closing on his first couple of deals.
