It's been 4 years since we said goodbye to one of the greatest in his field, and it's well worth looking back at just a few of the stories and experiences of the one and only Jarno Cordia. From a young age he was drawn to air sports, and skydiving in particular, but having an uncle who'd broken his back landing a round years before, it would have been easy for Jarno Cordia to watch his dreams of flying stay nothing more than childhood fantasy; but his desire to get in the air was much stronger than any fears he or his family may have had. After finishing school at 17 and a top notch career for the taking, he was able to use his early start in the professional world to put aside time to pursue his passion for flight both in skydiving and BASE, most specifically with wingsuiting. As has been for many a jumper, the drive to fly found a way to push career aside, and almost without thinking, he found that his passion and profession were now one in the same. With his teammate Jenna Gygi, @teamflylikebrick continued to lead him to almost every side of the Lunatic Fringe.

Jarno Duursma, expert in digitale technologie, aan om de werkelijke impact van kunstmatige intelligentie (AI) te bespreken. Hij vertelt dat de "AI-hype" voorbij lijkt te zijn, maar dat de technologie zelf juist steeds meer grip krijgt op ons dagelijks leven en werk. AI-tools, zoals ChatGPT, bieden ongekende mogelijkheden om repetitieve taken te automatiseren, wat werknemers tijd en energie bespaart. Toch merkt Jarno op dat veel mensen nog niet beseffen hoe groot de impact kan zijn, vooral wanneer AI diepere bedrijfsprocessen beïnvloedt en ons traditionele werkmodellen uitdaagt.Jarno waarschuwt ook voor de ethische kant van deze technologische golf. Hoewel AI ons productiever kan maken, bestaat het risico dat de menselijkheid verdwijnt uit klantrelaties en werkprocessen. Hij roept daarom zowel bedrijven als individuen op om AI niet alleen voor economische groei te gebruiken, maar juist ook om meer betekenis en voldoening te halen uit ons werk. Met AI kunnen we ons focussen op wat écht belangrijk is, zolang we bewust blijven kiezen hoe we de technologie inzetten.

Jarno Pikkarainen is the new J18 Region coach in VIK Hockey Vasteras and we talk in this episode about the recruitment of players from U16 to hockey gymnasium and NIU and how J18 Region is a super tough league in the Swedish Junior System.

It is with sincere sadness that we say goodbye to another legend in our sport. Jarno Cordia was above all else a generous soul and an incredibly talented individual and we were lucky enough to spend a little time talking with him about what he truly loved, We at the Lunatic Fringe would like to honor him and his legacy with a re-release of Jarno sharing his journey in his own words at the beginning of 2021. BSBD Jarno. From a young age he was drawn to air sports, and skydiving in particular, but having an uncle who'd broken his back landing a round years before, it would have been easy for Jarno Cordia to watch his dreams of flying stay nothing more than childhood fantasy; but his desire to get in the air was much stronger than any fears he or his family may have had. After finishing school at 17 and a top notch career for the taking, he was able to use his early start in the professional world to put aside time to pursue his passion for flight both in skydiving and BASE, most specifically with wingsuiting. As has been for many a jumper, the drive to fly found a way to push career aside, and almost without thinking, he found that his passion and profession were now one in the same. With his partner and teammate Jenna Gygi at his side, @teamflylikebrick continues to lead him to almost every side of the Lunatic Fringe.

Wet sat down with Jarno Hoogland to talk about the Trail Taxi, his work for the IMB, and, of course, his life in Swissneyland. Jarno recently launched the Trail Taxi as a non-guided uplift service for the lower Valais, a region that offers some of the best mountain bike riding in the country. It was great to also hear his thoughts on the sustainability of the company and on how he is giving back to the planet as well as the region he now calls home. Through his day job as the editor of the International Mountainbike Magazine, Jarno has a great perspective on the changing media landscape and he shares quite a bit: from press camps and content formats, to new bikes, parts and robustness, all the way to the fun parts of the job.
