Er zijn vorig jaar bijna 8,2 miljoen algemene periodieke keuringen bij personenauto’s uitgevoerd in Nederland. Daarmee tikt het aantal apk-afmeldingen een nieuw record aan, meldt toezichthouder RDW op BNR. 'Er zijn simpelweg meer auto's op de weg en ze rijden ook langer door', zegt Marthe Oudega, divisiemanager Toezicht en Beoordeling. De RDW trof in 2025 extra maatregelen tegen malafide bedrijven die illegale online-apk's uitvoerden. 'Het aantal fraudegevallen is hierdoor afgenomen.' Tesla’s zijn de afgelopen jaren het vaakst afgekeurd tijdens de APK-keuring. Uit een analyse van RDW-data uit 2023 en 2024 door Gaspedaal.nl blijkt dat Tesla's de meeste gebreken vertonen tijdens de keuring. Bij afgekeurde auto’s van het EV-merk is vaker wat mis met de verlichting of de banden dan bij andere merken. Als specifiek gekeken wordt naar jonge auto’s, dan is het afkeurpercentage bij Tesla ongeveer drie keer zo hoog als bij andere merken. Welkom allemaal bij een nieuwe podcast met de missie om de online automotive beter te maken. Vandaag een nieuwe podcast waarbij we praten met vrouwen die werkzaam zijn in de autobranche. Een podcast door vrouwen, over vrouwen in een mannenwereld. Onze gast vandaag is Mirjam van der Rijt van VASS. Je bent hier voor de tweede keer, want jullie vieren het vijfjarig jubileum met VASS. Er is in die vijf jaar veel gebeurd en het was leuk om via een groot evenement terug te kijken. Dat jubileumfeest was fantastisch, ook de locatie: automuseum Metropole in Druten. VASS maakt me trots, maar heeft ook buikpijn, kopzorgen en tranen opgeleverd. Gaan bedrijven wel geloven in het idee dat je hebt? We hebben inmiddels 900 autobedrijven aangesloten en zo'n 50 leveranciers. Jonge en startende ondernemers maken veel en dankbaar gebruik van de kennis die er in de branche is, en de kracht om met elkaar dingen voor elkaar te krijgen. Autobedrijven Samen Sterk, zo voelt het echt. Mijlpalen voor VASS waren de app, een communicatiemiddel ontstaan in coronatijd, en die app wordt nog steeds gebruikt. Ook belangrijk was dat de RDW met ons in gesprek ging en ons meenam in de processen, en dat de portalen ons serieus begonnen te nemen. Marktplaats en Autotrack wilden samenwerken met VASS. Tegenslagen waren dat sommige partijen niet wilden, en niet helemaal een tegenslag, maar moeilijk te begrijpen: partijen die je als bedreiging zien. Je wilt toch met elkaar leren en elkaar helpen? Ik geloof in de kracht van samen. Ik wist dat ik er goed aan deed voor de branche, maar soms twijfelde ik wel of de balans zakelijk/privé klopte. Dan ga je keuzes maken en dan komt het wel goed. We zijn een groeiplatform. Die partijen die als eerste instapten, haalden er niet heel veel business uit, en dat was soms best een uitdaging. Inmiddels worden resultaten behaald en dat geeft anderen vertrouwen om aan te sluiten. Je groeit met elkaar. Nu gaat het vanzelf om bedrijven aan te sluiten en stimuleren VASS-leden andere bedrijven om aan te sluiten. Omdat het voordelen biedt, omdat je met elkaar sterker staat. We hebben ook de goedkeuring van de Rabobank. Dat is belangrijk voor bedrijven om te bankieren. We kijken wel kritisch naar wie zich aansluit, maar we blijven wel laagdrempelig. Bij het volgende jubileum wil ik een verdubbeling van het ledenaantal. Daar is meer zichtbaarheid voor nodig. Bedrijven moeten ervaren wat de voordelen zijn. Merkformules richten zich op marketing, wij richten ons op de dagelijkse zaken die spelen: een geschil met personeel of conformiteit. Er is veel kennis en ervaring te halen. Merkformules en een VASS-lidmaatschap bijten elkaar niet. Op korte termijn willen we meer draagvlak bij aftersalesbedrijven. Er zijn veel ondernemers die zich nergens bij aansluiten omdat ze onafhankelijk willen zijn. Juist die bedrijven wil ik bereiken, want je blijft onafhankelijk en vrij als je je aansluit bij VASS, want je moet niets. Je krijgt veel informatie en gebruikt wat je wilt gebruiken. We willen ook bij meer overlegvormen aan tafel komen. Er wordt terughoudend naar ons gekeken: of we wel onafhankelijk zijn en omdat we worden gezien als een vreemde eend in de bijt. Wij vertegenwoordigen een stem vanuit de praktijk. Die stem wordt vaak vergeten. Je kunt van hogerhand veel opleggen omdat het moet, maar het moet gedragen worden in de praktijk. Die ondernemers moeten worden bereikt. En dat lukt niet altijd. VASS heeft me veel geleerd over leiderschap. Het is een mooie rol, met vallen en opstaan, soms ingewikkeld. Leuk om met de dames samen te werken, elke schakel is cruciaal, je doet het met elkaar: de leden, de leveranciers. Het ondernemerschap is soms confronterend, omdat ik de verantwoordelijkheid moet nemen en een oplossing moet zoeken. Maar voor mij is iedereen even belangrijk en doe je het dus met elkaar. Ondernemen is heel erg leuk. Het is belangrijk dat je je eigenheid bewaart en je niet snel laat beïnvloeden. Ik weet waar ik voor wil staan. En daar blijf ik voor staan. Belangrijk is om plezier te houden in ondernemen: zie de positieve dingen, ondanks dat het soms zwaar en pittig is. Richt je op waarom je bent begonnen, wat je leuk vindt. Bewaak ook je grenzen en werk je niet over de kop. Zoek die balans. Stop er plezier in en haal er plezier uit. Dan blijf je het volhouden. En sluit je vooral aan bij VASS. Samen sta je sterk: leer van elkaar, geniet van elkaar en blijf elkaar inspireren.

In 2024 zijn er iets meer auto's gestolen in Nederland. Vooral het aantal gestolen BMW's nam (met 36%) flink toe. Het aantal gestolen auto's steeg van zo'n 5800 in 2023, naar bijna 6000 vorig jaar. Dat meldt de RDW. Personenauto's van de merken Toyota, Volkswagen (+2%) en BMW (+36%) werden het vaakst gestolen, al nam dit aantal bij Toyota wel flink af (-29%). Welcome to PICU Doc On Call, A Podcast Dedicated to Current and Aspiring Intensivists. I'm Pradip Kamat and I'm Rahul Damania. We are coming to you from Children's Healthcare of Atlanta - Emory University School of Medicine. Welcome to our Episode a 2-year-old with severe pallor and O2 desaturation. Here's the case presented by Rahul: A two-year-old presents to the PICU with severe pallor + O2 requirement. The patient went for a routine check with her primary care who noted the patient appeared severely pale. He sent the patient to the ED. An initial Hgb check revealed a Hgb of 1.5gm/dL. Per mother, she is otherwise healthy but a very picky eater. She also reports the patient drinks milk as a soothing adjunct at night, consuming between 12 - 36oz a day. No family h/o of anemia or any other blood disorders. No h/o recent illness. Mother had a normal spontaneous full-term delivery. The patient is up to date on her immunizations. Per mother, developmental milestones are normal. The mother also denies any history of decreased activity in the child. Given the low Hgb, the patient was admitted to the PICU. Let's transition into some history and physical exam components of this case? What are key history features in this child? Severe pallor in a 2-year-old H/o being a picky eater H/o excessive milk consumption Pertinent negatives include: No obvious blood loss, No petechia, bruising, or jaundice What did the physical exam show? The patient was hypertensive, tachycardic to the 140s, and 10th% weight for growth percentiles On physical exam, the patient was in no acute distress. Her lips, gums, and conjunctiva were pale. She had a systolic ejection murmur. As a pertinent negative, she had no hepatosplenomegaly. She also has no rash, bruising, or petechiae. The lack of hepatosplenomegaly may indicate that the patient has no signs of extramedullary hematopoiesis. Patients with hemolytic processes resulting in anemia may present with signs of scleral icterus, jaundice, and hepatosplenomegaly resulting from increased red cell destruction.
