You'll be delighted to know that the NJ farming community is looking out for your best interest, in particular a group of like-minded individuals who formed the Northeast Organic Farmers Association (NOFA) New Jersey chapter. In doing so, they've created an organization which focuses on providing information, fun activities, and yes--produce, from the local farmers, interest groups, educators, and AGRO enthusiasts alike. We've said it numerous times, and I'll say it again: Without farmers, we wouldn't have clothes, food, or beverages. The same goes for all the small (and large) vendors who create goods and services to make those provisions available to all of us, and NOFA is aiming to bring all of them together so everyone can benefit from fresh organic goods, shelf-stable organic products, and so much more! You'll have a blast learning about NOFA , and stay tuned to find out some of the exciting events that NOFA is offering this Fall and Winter!(https://nofanj.org)Next, you'll hear from Casey Carroll who owns Coray Kitchen in Delmar, NY. Casey and her husband, Chef Javier Villatoro, their farm-to-table restaurant offers delicious and creative selections that reflect Chef Vialltoro's heritage and culinary innovations from his own garden! He builds upon his menus each year by saving the seeds from what he harvested & used on his menu, which is something he learned while growing up in his hometown. Casey, who loves the benefit from having Chef Javier as her business partner and husband, shares the love behind what brings patrons to Coray Kitchen time and time again, along with the story behind the name, how they met, and what you'll experience when you join them for a meal.(https://www.coraykitchen.com)I last spoke with Victoria Lambert, who is a bio-lab technician who's taken her love of science and research into the kitchen when she started her business, Happy Bakery. Victoria first opened her bakery with one vision: Offering cinnamon buns that had creative flavors and options. She soon found success, as well as a need to re-imagine the offerings since she quickly sold-out of menu items on a daily basis. So today, you'll find those warm, fragrant buns along with other items to hit your sweet-loving spot, like fudgy brownies and dense cookies. Need I say more to tempt you? You can find where she's vending at by following her online on her instagram handle at @happybakerywc!

In this episode, join Jared Sorensen and Will Harris as they navigate the journey of building a successful regenerative agriculture business.Whether you're a seasoned farmer, aspiring entrepreneur, or simply passionate about creating a more sustainable future, this episode is packed with valuable insights and inspiration to guide you on your journey.ABOUT THE GUEST: Will Harris is a fourth-generation cattleman, who tends the same land that his great-grandfather settled in 1866. Born and raised at White Oak Pastures, Will left home to attend the University of Georgia's School of Agriculture, where he was trained in the industrial farming methods that had taken hold after World War II. Will graduated in 1976 and returned to Bluffton where he and his father continued to raise cattle using pesticides, herbicides, hormones, and antibiotics. They also fed their herd a high-carbohydrate diet of corn and soy. These tools did a fantastic job of taking the cost out of the system, but in the mid-1990s Will became disenchanted with the excesses of these industrialized methods. They had created a monoculture for their cattle, and, as Will says, "nature abhors a monoculture." In 1995, Will made the audacious decision to return to the farming methods his great-grandfather had used 130 years before.Since Will has successfully implemented these changes, he has been recognized all over the world as a leader in humane animal husbandry and environmental sustainability. Will is the immediate past President of the Board of Directors of Georgia Organics. He is the Beef Director of the American Grassfed Association and was selected 2011 Business Person of the year for Georgia by the Small Business Administration.Be sure to check out our previous episodes and click on the link to join our Webinar series: https://www.agsteward.fyi/registration-page--1 or visit our YouTube channel.

In this episode, I had the pleasure of speaking with Jen Gottlieb, a thought leader in PR, brand building, and visibility. Jen shared so many valuable insights on the importance of building a strong personal and business brand in today's world. We discussed the power of authenticity and vulnerability in branding - how being real and showing the imperfect, human side of yourself allows people to connect with you on a deeper level. Jen explained why visibility and being seen are critical, especially for entrepreneurs - if people can't find you, they can't hire you or buy from you.Jen revealed the journey to writing her new book "Be Seen" and the profound psychic reading that inspired it all. She shared tips for starting over and rebuilding your brand, focusing on relationships, consistent content creation, and prioritizing health. Jen also opened up about the lessons she learned in hindsight and the importance of not caring what others think when putting yourself out there.I was so inspired by Jen's wisdom and stories. “ You don't just step out into the business world and say, I'm the best. I'm the smartest, I'm the nicest, I'm a good person, and everyone believes you overnight. No, you have to prove yourself, you have to consistently put in the work to show your true colors. And over time you build that reputation.” Whitney never imagined owning her own business, let alone founding a seven-figure award-winning international agency dedicated to helping companies and other businesses thrive. If you asked her at 22 what her aspirations in life were, Whitney would've said being the Director of PR for the New Orleans Saints was her one true dream. It's funny where the journey can lead you after taking that first initial leap and that's what we're talking about in today's episode of Startups in Stilettos. We sit down with True Story Public Relations founder, Whitney Lee to discuss her incredible journey, the many accomplishments that she has from being in business for 10 years, like being named Scarlett Magazine's Woman of The Year in PR, and how she's utilizing her insight on her mission to help business owners reduce complexity and make marketing simple, actionable, and profitable. After all, Whitney's superpower is her ability to help frustrated business owners who've tried it all cut through all the noise and develop a custom strategy that really moves the needle. What we talk about: Social media management Email drip campaigns Visibility + optimization Misconceptions of PR Client goals + PR strategies Rejecting instant gratification + embracing methodical progress What to know before hiring a PR agency Members of our Entreprenista League get access to live Office Hours with top founders that have been on our show! Time moves fast and so do milestones. When was the last time you celebrated a milestone in your business? It's so important to take note and take TIME to celebrate the journey. If you've been a listener for some time you may remember a very special guest, my brother, Robert Young, Owner of Covert Results. This year Covert Results celebrates 5 years! Most businesses don't make it to five years. Going from an undercover drug dealer listening in on wiretaps to an entrepreneur is a little different. You can't do this alone. When something “bad” happens, there is always a silver lining. Something better waiting for you. If there is a situation where you are forced to sit “still” there is a bigger reason. Could be you need the time (knocked on your ass) to reflect to make a bigger impact on your life and others lives. If you want to go fast, get really clear. And if you want to go faster, go together. Speed is Clarity. YEAR 1: Founded Covert Results, private investigations, armed security, cyber security company YEAR 2: Became a first time author with “The Good Line” YEAR 3: Launched Online Course (online gun trainers) we didn't mention this, but want to note it on the blog (this is more for me to document for future way to track years) YEAR 4: Founded Operation Rose, non-profit to combat Human Trafficking Passed a resolution (politics will play out) YEAR 5: Follow along on the journey!
Today's Flash Back Friday Episode is from Episode #44, which originally aired on November 3, 2014. We all know that it is more blessed to give than to receive, a particularly apt rule during the holiday season. But what you may not know is that people who are givers in both their personal and working lives — through mentoring, fundraising, monetary donations, volunteering time, making introductions and sharing their expertise — land at the top of the success ladder. In today's show, I provide my personal account of my experience as it pertains to charitable giving through the www.72HoursToKeyWest.com bike ride and www.TinyHandsFoundation.org and how it has helped my business grow.
