Late last week, ballots were counted in a runoff union election between the Teamsters and The Laborers' International Union of North America to represent some Richmond workers. In June neither won a majority of the votes. On Friday, Virginia election officials said they added back nearly 3,400 voters who were mistakenly removed from the rolls – thousands more than initially projected. Isley Brewing Company has served its last …  last round. With a rent hike coming, one of the longest running breweries in Scott's Addition had its final day of business on Sunday. 

The idea behind No Labels, that Americans should have a third choice between Republicans and Democrats, might be a good idea if our democracy wasn't under attack by MAGA Republicans. But right now, democracy is on the ballot and a third party centrist candidacy will take more votes from Joe Biden than Donald Trump. And it might even get enough electoral votes to deny 270 to either Biden or Trump, resulting in the election being thrown to the House of Representatives. With expanding electrical infrastructure and some jurisdictions beginning to ban gas appliances in new construction, the transition to a clean energy economy is already happening. Understandably, labor unions that represent workers tied to the fossil fuel infrastructure are digging in their heels.
