Ever wondered how the roar of a crowd or a cheerleader's chant could coax your weary legs across a marathon finish line? I'm living proof of that force, powered through the London Marathon by the electrifying support from Macmillan and St John Ambulance's cheering squads. This episode is a testament to the incredible strength we find in the kindness of strangers and the shared human spirit that propels us forward. My co-host Valerio, whom I fondly call the accidental half-marathoner, chimes in with his own tale of transition from Peloton pedals to pavement pounding—sparked by a fortuitous discussion at an Indian wedding no less!Lacing up their running shoes, Valerio and I guide you through the intricate dance of discipline and resilience, both of which crisscross the paths of marathon running and entrepreneurship. While I recount the myriad of challenges faced during marathon training—from injury management to the psychological warfare on race day—Valerio reflects on his own journey of habit formation and the surprising allure (and expenses!) of running. It's a conversation that goes beyond the miles, touching on the parallels between the grueling and often solitary miles of marathon prep and the equally relentless journey of building a business from the ground up.We wrap up the episode with a deeper look at the power of discipline. Valerio shares an inspiring story about facing and overcoming the hurdles thrown our way, whether it's the financial pinch of running gear or the unexpected extra mile that tests our mental fortitude. Our dialogues weave through personal anecdotes and advice, offering a blend of laughter, encouragement, and raw insight into the transformative journey of marathon running and the relentless pursuit of one's passions. So hit play and join us on this marathon of an episode—because whether you're running a race or chasing a dream, it's the discipline that takes you across the finish line.Support the Show.Check us out and send us a message on our instagram, Tik Tok and Youtube platforms @the.needle.moverswww.theneedlemovers.xyz
Lacing up for a meaningful run isn't just about the physical challenge; it's a commitment to a cause that reaches the heart and soul of communities. Today's episode is a testament to that very spirit, where I recount running the Boston Marathon in honor of my mom and how it led me to advocate for many causes that are near and dear to my hear. I am particularly passionate about youth empowerment through Girls on the Run. Joined by the vibrant Michelle and Brigette, who are not just runners but pillars in their communities, we uncover the profound impact of coaching and running for charity. Their stories are a reminder that the race is not always for the swift but often for those who keep running with purpose.Running for charity is more than a personal triumph; it's a communal victory. Our discussion highlights the Girls on the Run program's life-changing curriculum, emphasizing emotional resilience and strength. As a coach, I've witnessed firsthand the sheer joy of connecting with young girls, instilling lessons that resonate far beyond the running track. And if you're hesitant because you're not a seasoned runner, fear not. The program celebrates walking and mindful movement, too. The upcoming all-women's marathon and a potential Dopey Challenge are not just events but beacons of hope and empowerment for communities rallying behind the cause. But let's get practical—as inspiring as these endeavors are, they require funds to thrive. This episode is packed with creative fundraising strategies that propelled my charitable efforts. From leveraging social media to hosting community events, I share a wealth of ideas that can help you reach and even surpass your goals. Whether through engaging raffles, employer donation matching, or unique community-driven events, every bit of effort contributes to a greater narrative. So, tie up those sneakers, tap into the generosity of your network, and let's run this race together—where every mile is a milestone for someone's brighter tomorrow.Support the showJoin the newsletter list for updates, special offers, and exclusive behind-the-scenes content. Get ready to confront the controversies and celebrate the commitments in the latest episode of our podcast, where Parlay Pete and I tackle the Atlanta Falcons' fiery QB debate head-on. Amidst the tangle of opinions and media furor over Kirk Cousins donning the Falcons jersey, we stand our ground, championing the move as a strategic play. Together, we navigate the turbulent seas of fan expectations and leadership realities, contrasting the dreams of snagging a coaching legend like Bill Belichick with the pragmatic approach of Raheem Morris steering the ship. While we get our fitness fix, we also dive into the perks of gym daycare, a game-changer for active couples, and how local living influences our day-to-day – including a shoutout to a dedicated listener. The hype around Cousins may dominate the headlines, but we spar over the real dedication that defines a fan – is it the roar from the bleachers or the cheers from the couch?Wrapping up with a strategist's eye, we dissect the NFL off-season playbook with its trades, acquisitions, and chess-like maneuvers. We spotlight the Texans' game plan with the addition of Joe Mixon, speculate on Mac Jones shaking up the Jaguars, and cast a critical eye over Sean Payton's influence on the Broncos. Our debate goes into overtime as we weigh the potential of fresh prospects against the established titans of the turf. As the clock winds down, we leave you with a final thought on draft strategies, team resets, and the high stakes for franchises like the Broncos and Cowboys. This week… Seamo's immune system left the fellas high and dry! With no IT man, Max figured out how to ducttape and paperclip an episode together. I don't know how these guys recorded an episode before Seamo came along. Amongst the burps and swearing the fellas talked about the Packers and their spineless coaching staff. The Phoenix Gambler, Beef, called in to give his thoughts on the Pack and WI sports gambling. Andy was also on the line to break down the Pack and all things WI Sports. Kärel wasn't very meticulous against the Dictionary and the Urban Dictionary is a terrible place. They're actually doing it, they started running. It's a miracle! One of my Elite Access patients sent me a message. He was having pain from an inflamed Tailor's bunion bursa at the base of the pinky toe. He got a bigger shoe with a wider toe box that decreased the pressure. But when he was running, his foot was sliding around in the shoe, and it was still causing a problem. He asked me if there was any solution. And yes, there is... Today, on the Doc On The Run Podcast, we're talking about how you can lace your running shoes differently when you have bursitis pain from a tailor's bunion.

If the top of your foot hurts because you have extensor tenosynovitis, it can cause a lot of pain. But the condition is not complicated. The extensor tendons run down across the top of your foot. The extensor tendons continue all the way out to the toes. The function of the tendons is to pull your toes up when you swing through in the swing phase of gait, so you don't trip over your toes when you run. If you start running and your shoelaces actually push on the tendons with just a tiny bit too much force, the tendon sheath surrounding the tendons can get irritated. With continued aggravation, you get inflammation within the tendon sheath. A big painful spot right on the top of your foot is the result. So, there's a simple way you can decrease the irritation of the tendon sheath when you have extensor tenosynovitis. Today on the Doc On The Run Podcast, we're talking about how you can alter your running shoe lacing pattern if you have this condition called tenosynovitis.
