For Laura Allen and her family, illegal aliens crossing through their ranch is one of the “unique aspects” of living on the border, she said. The illegal aliens who cross through her ranch are “criminals, they've got criminal histories, they're not good people, and they are to be feared,” said Allen, who is not related to this reporter. The Allen ranch, located about 170 miles west of San Antonio in Val Verde County, has been in the family for over 100 years. “It was bought in 1920 by [my husband's] great-grandfather and the family has been actively ranching it all that time,” Allen, 54, said. Allen, the former judge of Val Verde County, says that over the years, her husband's family has watched the situation with illegal immigration change. “Years ago, when my mother-in-law and my father-in-law built their home out here, which was in the '50s, it was not uncommon for [illegal aliens] to come up to the house and be looking for work or looking for a meal or something like that,” Allen said. “Generally, they didn't have issues. They didn't have problems with anybody.” “Nowadays, the people that we see crossing, they don't want to come anywhere near us. They don't want to be seen, they don't want to be detected. We catch them on game cameras with big, huge backpacks that you could almost carry a person in, which we're sure are drugs,” she said, adding: “They come through in the cover of darkness and they want to get out undetected.” Allen joins "The Daily Signal Podcast" to explain the realities of life on the southern border. In this week's episode, I sit down with Lauren Allen, the found of Corporate School Dropout. She is not only a friend of mine, but an inspiration to anyone who is looking to ditch the 9 to 5, and follow the internal guidance that tells them they are made for more. She herself went through this process over 4+ years ago now, and through that experience, she took key learnings and developed the community, podcast, and thriving business she has today! The first step that lead to significant change in Lauren's life came from the guidance that she received from a kind voice within. Do you hear that voice too? Have you followed it's direction? It might feel uncertain as to where it will lead, but in today's episode, we discuss the importance of listening to that internal guidance and how it has lead Lauren to where she is today, along with some other nuggets of wisdom. After all, the goal of this podcast is to remind you to Connect Back In to who you truly are so that you can find everything that you're looking for outside of yourself. My hope is that you feel inspired to start listening to  your own internal nudges, and stop holding back on living the life you were meant to live. Enjoy! More on Lauren:  Lauren Allen is the founder of Corporate School Dropout. After 15+ years as a Project Manager Professional (PMP), she's pivoted her skills to support new business owners to launch their business and create their corporate exit plan. Lauren has aligned her passion for helping others with a multitude of resources to inspire, motivate, and empower them to make changes to serve their best life. Breaking away from corporate life can be an intimidating and confusing process. From building your business from the ground up to finding the right support are a couple of the steps you must take in entrepreneurship. With four years of experience in coaching and running her own successful business, today’s guest, Lauren Allen, explains how you can build your community and business after dropping out of corporate life. After spending 15 years climbing the corporate ladder, Lauren finally realized that it was not her true calling. Without having a solid plan or an idea of what was happening, she packed her bags and moved to San Diego, believing that she was going to figure it all out on the way. By surrounding herself with people living life on their terms, she decided to start her coaching business and podcast, Corporate School Dropout. For the past four years, she has been helping women step by step launch their businesses as well as creating that strong support system every person needs. Learn to Let GoThe main issue that Lauren comes across in her clients (and even herself) is decision-making fatigue. This causes you to use all your mental and creative energy on your business and life. Instead of trying to figure it all out, let things go. Understand that you cannot do everything and that people overrate perfection. Lean on your support system and truly see if the task aligns with your mission. You can learn how to let some things go by having a routine that relaxes you. Lauren has a morning routine of journaling, watching podcasts and reading to help put her in the right mindset.Do Not Forget to Take Care of YourselfAs humans, we sometimes feel like machines. However, just like machines, if you skip your maintenance check, you will break down. Lauren explains that “rest and recharg(ing) is part of the creative process.” You need to give yourself the space you need. The people you work and surround yourself with also affect how you take care of yourself. While a "support system will make you happier," it matters who you work with. There is an energy exchange between people. Only work with people who will challenge or help you in the right ways. When finding clients, customers or support, define your boundaries and know red flags. Starting a business is an emotional journey that has its ups and downs, but having the right connections and community will take you down a successful path. Are you ready to start building your business and community? Lauren has an endless supply of connections, advice, support and more. Click here to join her support group to meet other women going through the same transition as you. Plus, do not forget to check out her podcast for more inspiration and information.
