SERIES 2 EPISODE 187: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN A-Block (1:44) SPECIAL COMMENT: The light bulbs may have finally gone off over the heads of the Biden Campaign at 2:03 P-M Eastern yesterday. They had USED the phrase before and they had said the phrase before but it was at THAT moment that they sent it out into the world alone: a Twitter-X post reading simply “Convicted Felon” and under it the close-up, sweating, mottled-face, golf picture of Convicted Felon Donald Trump that looks it was the before shot in a before-and-after about your grandpa's risk of having a stroke. Elections are not decided by social media posts and they are not decided by nicknames and they are not decided by bad photos but you can probably decide ONE PERCENTAGE POINT in an election with them. Or two. Or five. We may hate it, but we live in America where the name “Crooked Hillary” stuck, and the phrase “Lock Her Up” stuck, and the acronym “MAGA” – one of the stupidest and discordant acronyms of all time – stuck. And here Joe Biden has an answer to every insult and every meme and every catchphrase used by Trump and his cult and it's not only a GREAT answer but it has the added benefit of being entirely true and it has the even GREATER benefit of utterly deranging Trump's whores. They have spent every day since the conviction screaming, shouting, whining, crying “don't say that” like you did the day the kids gave you your first mean nickname in the 3rd or 4th Grade. Now they have to make it show up in the polling. In the newest poll, CBS/You Gov, the number of Republicans saying he's not fit to be president is up to 10 percent and the number of Independents saying he's not fit to be president is FIFTY percent. Echelon Insights, run by the conservative Kristen Soltis Andersen, went back to 477 people it previously polled who had had it 47-47 and after the verdict asked them again and they came back 49-47 for Biden. So keep calling him “Convicted Felon Donald Trump.” Every time. Like he legally changed his name to it. And that means Joe Biden, personally. Say it. Put it in campaign ads. Can you imagine the political media freakout? It would be indelibly attached to Trump. MEANWHILE: The Supreme Court is coming apart at the seams: The civilian victim in the Alito Flag Scandal now says that both IN late 2020/early 2021 AND two weeks ago, a black S-U-V from the Alito security detail parked in front of her mother's home in Alexandria Virginia. “I couldn't say who was in the car because of the tinted glass,” Emily Baden told The Guardian, “and nobody ever said anything. I took it as a general threat. The message was, we could do terrible things to you, and nobody would be able to do anything about it. When it comes to justices at the supreme court, they make the laws, but the laws don't apply to them.” But Congressman Jamie Raskin has a solution, if only Merrick Garland will get off the dime. B-Block (27:20) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: The publishers and distributors of "2000 Mules" repudiated the film, apologized to one of the people they slandered, and blamed it all on Dinesh D'Souza (who would now be meat). Josh Hawley either made up a story about an illicit use of American troops abroad, or he revealed military secrets - prosecute him! And once again the right wingers explain how they'll show us, they'll avenge Trump by shooting everybody. Why does it never occur to them that they may have lots of guns but who has all the tanks and military bases again? Meet Carl Higbie of NewsMax. Carl's bonkers. C-Block (35:06) THINGS I PROMISED NOT TO COME: With the 80th Anniversary of D-Day looming I flashed back to the 60th Anniversary and the then-new MSNBC president who pulled out all the stops and went wall-to-wall live from Normandy and with all his big stars working a Saturday to impress his bosses...and then breaking news cancelled all of it!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

But what should replace it and how can men embrace a new, healthy model of masculinity? Stephan B. Poulter Phd offers a comprehensive answer. Donald Trump isn't Alexei Navalny. He wasn't poisoned or beaten or tortured, then left to die in a Siberian gulag. We aren't under the control of a dictator like Putin. But there is no getting around the ugly truth that none of this would happen if Biden weren't trailing Trump in the polls.News of Navalny's death sent shockwaves through both sides of the political aisle, as each tried to grapple with the many conflicts we're now facing, the war in Ukraine and the war on Donald Trump, but it's the Democrats whose actions of late were put into the spotlight.Only one political party is actively trying to jail its primary political opponent, has thrown political protesters in solitary confinement, and violated the First Amendment by censoring speech on social media. How would they shapeshift their way out of this problem? It's easy. They don't even respect the people enough to be honest with them. Instead, they rationalize it, “Trump committed actual crimes,” they said. “Trump's the one who chanted Lock Her Up,” they insist, as if chanting is the same as doing.Similarly, most Russians believe Navalny committed “actual crimes” because that's the power of taking complete control of the media narrative. Putin charged him as an extremist and with “fraud,” just as our government has done to Trump. The Durham Report is in, so what does it show? Well, not a lot that we didn't already know tbh, but we'll talk about it anyway. It does clarify a few things, adds a few details, massacres the FBI & exposes the actual extent of Hillary Clinton's involvement in rigging the election though, so there is that. More importantly than the Durham Report is the current obstruction of justice that is actively taking place under our noses while we focus on a report of events from 6 years ago! ~~~~FOLLOW US ON RUMBLE~~~~
Alien 3 is a massive disappointment. After the insane action masterpiece that was Aliens, expectations were high for how Ellen Ripley's story would progress. Sadly, Fox, the studio behind the beloved franchise, didn't seem to have any ideas. Multiple scripts came and went, as did directors. Ultimately, the project fell to David Fincher. If you told that to someone now, the excitement would be palpable. But this was 1992, and Fincher had yet to direct a movie. Renowned for his music video work, the first-time director had to fight tooth and nail with the studio throughout the shoot. With a script that was being rewritten on the fly, much of the problems that plague Alien 3 cannot be attributed to him. This is a cautionary tale about wanting to exploit a valuable IP without taking the time to make sure the ideas are worth exploring. Literally, Alien 3 is just Alien in a different setting with a sterile cast of characters who all look and behave the same. That is the opposite of what fans expected after James Cameron blew their Xenomorph-loving minds with Aliens. Hence, why Alien 3 suffered with critics and fell to its death at the box office. On a production budget more than triple its predecessor, it grossed $30 million less domestically. Those kind of numbers are liable to make something burst out of a greedy executive's chest. Now, sit back, kill your mouth lice with a Cosmic Crown from Cigar City Brewing, and reanimate Bishop for some key exposition! I, the Thunderous Wizard (@WriterTLK), Chumpzilla, Capt. Cash, and Bling Blake are setting Xenomorph traps in the dank bowels of Fiorina 161! This Week's Segments: Introduction/Plot Breakdown – Start running...again. The bitch is back! (00:00) Lingering Questions – Should this have killed the Alien franchise? (52:48) The "This Thing is Really Pissed Off" Trivia Challenge – The Double Turn Podcast learns about the original "Hell in a Cell," and then Chumpzilla challenges the field to trivia about the movie. Fox News' Jesse Watters told his audience that the term "lock her up" was a joke, never meant to be taken seriously. For the millions that recited that chant, do you think they felt it was a joke or did they want Hillary Clinton locked up for Benghazi, Uranium One and other crrimes
EPISODE 157: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN A-Block (1:41): The "Lock Her Up" Crowd needs to speak to the manager! It thought it made itself perfectly clear! It's "Lock HER Up!" It CANNOT BE "Lock HIM Up!" Whether Trump is arrested tomorrow, next week, or never, the fascist orgasm of naked pusillanimous fear over the rumors Trump himself spread, is COMPLETELY WORTH IT. But the general "wisdom" is complete nonsense. These are bullies who have never before been stood up to. They do not know what to do next but utter dark threats they have no means of acting upon. A "human moat" to encircle Trump? Crashing the economy? Storming key cities in the blue states? As my cousin by adoption and marriage Mike Tyson says, verybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth, and Trump's cult just got punched in the mouth. And if a Trump arrest would guarantee him a "landslide victory" then the obvious Democratic nominee next year is Hunter Biden, on a chain gang with his father, Pelosi, Fauci, Hillary, and Vice President Harris. I understand we've all been worn down by eight years of this Fun-House-Mirrors-crap but relax. Gravity still works. Honestly: the arrest thing isn't even the most important Trump story. What a Washington judge did Friday to attorney-client privilege with Trump and lawyer Evan Corcoran - and what she did with Corcoran's notes that must implicate Trump in perjury - is the real deal. Plus there was an omen in Manhattan yesterday. The Proud Boys attacked "Drag Story Hour" - and got the crap kicked out of them. B-Block (18:18) POSTSCRIPTS TO THE NEWS: Capitol Police confirm what I guessed at: they not only NEVER saw the Tucker Carlson January 6 Gaslighting Video but they were tricked by Speaker McCarthy and Rep. Bryan Steil into setting up a viewing station the cops thought was for Congressman but was actually for Fox "News." (20:49) IN SPORTS: The World Baseball Classic has a problem and it's not just the injuries to Jose Altuve and Edwin Diaz. Why insurance may cancel or reschedule the next WBC. And a bigoted NHL goalie ruins another pride night, but with a twist: He says he can't be a Homophobe because one of his best friends is Muslim. (29:43) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: Kayleigh McEnany tries to say "Ingraham Angle" while guest hosting the show. It goes poorly. The weakest flex ever by a failed candidate for governor. And does Senator Marsha Blackburn sound like an escapee from every 1987 TV Magazine Show special on streamlining your style? That's because she IS - and there's proof. C-Block (40:00) EVERY DOG HAS ITS DAY: Nacho in Brooklyn (44:40) THINGS I PROMISED NOT TO TELL: Now it's The New York Times burying CNN's Chris Licht. I'd just like to point out I started the Moby-Licht ball rolling, and I should tell you the tale of how when we worked together at MSNBC he was infamous as Joe Scarborough's henchman who tried to interfere with Maddow's show and Matthews' and mine and get preferential coverage for Joey Scars' buddies.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Liz and Andrew break down the latest LOLsuit from Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn. You may recall Gen. Flynn from screeching "Lock Her Up!" on the campaign trail while surreptitiously serving as an unauthorized lobbyist for Turkey's brutal authoritarian regime. You may recall him as a pro-Russian stooge who lied about being a pro-Russian stooge. And you may recall him as having been pardoned by Donald Trump after Bill Barr tried to rig the Department of Justice in his favor. However you remember this bozo, you'll be shocked to discover that he now thinks he deserves FIFTY MILLION DOLLARS for... having friends in high places. Fortunately, his lawsuit doesn't stand a chance in hell of succeeding, as Liz and Andrew make clear. Chapter 25 - The Beetle at BayQ1 - What do you think of this mass breakout at Azkaban?Q2 - Why was Bode assassinated? And who killed him? This latest Decree had been the subject of a great number of jokes among the students. Lee Jordan had pointed out to Umbridge that by the terms of the new rule she was not allowed to tell Fred and George off for playing Exploding Snap in the back of the class. ʹExploding Snapʹs got nothing to do with Defence Against the Dark Arts, Professor! Thatʹs not information relating to your subject!ʹ When Harry next saw Lee, the back of his hand was bleeding rather badly. Harry recommended essence of Murtlap.Q3 - Do you think Umbridge should be in prison for this?ʹWell, maybe Snape isnʹt really trying to help Harry…ʹ Harry and Hermione stared at him. Ron looked darkly and meaningfully from one to the other. ʹMaybe,ʹ he said again, in a lower voice, ʹheʹs actually trying to open Harryʹs mind a bit wider… make it easier for You‐Know—ʹ ʹShut up, Ron,ʹ said Hermione angrily. ʹHow many times have you suspected Snape, and when have you ever been right? Dumbledore trusts him, he works for the Order, that ought to be enough.ʹ ʹHe used to be a Death Eater,ʹ said Ron stubbornly. ʹAnd weʹve never seen proof that he really swapped sides.ʹ ʹDumbledore trusts him,ʹ Hermione repeated. ʹAnd if we canʹt trust Dumbledore, we canʹt trust anyone.ʹ Q4 - Whose side are you taking here?Q5 - Life advice: After Pancy says, “At least Cedric was good-looking” and the conversation between Harry and Cho stops, what should Harry's response be?Q6 - Do you think the date is going well?In the time it took for their coffees to arrive, Roger Davies and his girlfriend had started kissing over their sugar bowl. Harry wished they wouldnʹt; he felt that Davies was setting a standard with which Cho would soon expect him to compete. He felt his face growing hot and tried staring out of the window, but it was so steamed up he couldnʹt see the street outside. To postpone the moment when he would have to look at Cho, he stared up at the ceiling as though examining the paintwork and received a handful of confetti in the face from their hovering cherub.Q7 - Does Harry actually like Cho…because why wouldn't he wanna makeout with her?Q8 - Is Cho right to be angry at Harry here?Q9 - Can guys and girls be actual friends? Q10 - What is going on with Hagrid?Q11 - Is Hermione slightly abusive to be controlling Rita like this?Q12 - Is Harry smart to be telling his story?Chapter 26 - Seen and Unforeseen'You should have told her differently,ʹ said Hermione, still with that maddeningly patient air. ʹYou should have said it was really annoying, but Iʹd made you promise to come along to the Three Broomsticks, and you really didnʹt want to go, youʹd much rather spend the whole day with her, but unfortunately you thought you really ought to meet me and would she please, please come along with you and hopefully youʹd be able to get away more quickly. And it might have been a good idea to mention how ugly you think I am, too,ʹ Hermione added as an afterthought. ʹBut I donʹt think youʹre ugly,ʹ said Harry, bemused. Hermione laughed. ʹHarry youʹre worse than Ron… well, no, youʹre not,ʹ she sighed, as Ron himself came stumping into the Hall splattered with mud and looking grumpy.Q1 - How do you know if a person likes you or not?Q2 - Is it good that Harry's story is published? Do we feel like Harry finally beat Umbridge? The teachers were of course forbidden from mentioning the interview by Educational Decree Number Twenty‐six, but they found ways to express their feelings about it all the same. Professor Sprout awarded Gryffindor twenty points when Harry passed her a watering can; a beaming Professor Flitwick pressed a box of squeaking sugar mice on him at the end of Charms, said, ʹShh!ʹ and hurried away; and Professor Trelawney broke into hysterical sobs during Divination and announced to the startled class, and a very disapproving Umbridge, that Harry was not going to suffer an early death after all, but would live to a ripe old age, become Minister for Magic and have twelve children.Q3 - What's your favorite time a teacher praised you?Q4 - What's the deal with Avery and Rookwood? What information are they giving to Voldy?ʹI was You-Know-Who,ʹ said Harry, and he stretched out his hands in the darkness and held them up to his face, to check that they were no longer deathly white and long‐fingered.Q5 - Why is Harry now becoming Voldemort?ʹSturgis Podmore—' said Hermione breathlessly, ʹarrested for trying to get through a door! Lucius Malfoy must have got him too! I bet he did it the day you saw him there, Harry. Sturgis had Moodyʹs Invisibility Cloak, right? So, what if he was standing guard by the door, invisible, and Malfoy heard him move ‐ or guessed someone was there ‐ or just did the Imperius Curse on the off‐chance thereʹd be a guard there? So, when Sturgis next had an opportunity ‐ probably when it was his turn on guard duty again—he tried to get into the Department to steal the weapon for Voldemort—Ron, be quiet—but he got caught and sent to Azkaban…ʺ Q6 - Is Hermione right here?Snape staggered ‐ his wand flew upwards, away from Harry ‐and suddenly Harryʹs mind was teeming with memories that were not his: a hook‐nosed man was shouting at a cowering woman, while a small dark‐haired boy cried in a corner… a greasy‐haired teenager sat alone in a dark bedroom, pointing his wand at the ceiling, shooting down flies… a girl was laughing as a scrawny boy tried to mount a bucking broomstick.Q7 - Do any of these memories mean anything?ʹCan you tell me something, sir?ʹ said Harry, firing up again. ʹWhy do you call Voldemort the Dark Lord? Iʹve only ever heard Death Eaters call him that.ʹ Snape opened his mouth in a snarl ‐ and a woman screamed from somewhere outside the room. Snapes head jerked upwards; he was gazing at the ceiling. There, there, Sybill… calm down… blow your nose on this… itʹs not as bad as you think, now… you are not going to have to leave Hogwarts…ʺ ʹOh really, Professor McGonagall?ʹ said Umbridge in a deadly voice, taking a few steps forward. ʹAnd your authority for that statement is… ?ʹ That would be mine,ʹ said a deep voice. The oaken front doors had swung open. Students beside them scuttled out of the way as Dumbledore appeared in the entrance. What he had been doing out in the grounds Harry could not imagine, but there was something impressive about the sight of him framed in the doorway against an oddly misty night.Q8 - What was Dumbledore doing outside the castle at this hour?Q9 - Thoughts on Trelawney sack, Dumbledore's attitude, and Firenze hire?Chapter 27 - The Centaur and the SneakʹNot reallyʹ said Hermione indifferently, who was reading the Daily Prophet. ʹIʹve never really liked horses.ʹ She turned a page of the newspaper and scanned its columns. ʹHeʹs not a horse, heʹs a centaur!ʹ said Lavender, sounding shocked. ʹA gorgeous centaur…ʹ sighed Parvati.Q1 - Is it weird to be attracted to a centaur? (or the horse from Spirit?)ʹDid Hagrid breed you, like the Thestrals?ʹ asked Dean eagerly.Q2 - Did Dean just unseat Ron as the dumbest student in Hogwarts?ʹIn the past decade, the indications have been that wizardkind is living through nothing more than a brief calm between two wars. Mars, bringer of battle, shines brightly above us, suggesting that the fight must soon break out again.Q3 - Is he right here?Q4 - What is Hagrid attempting?Q5 - Did you think they were going to ever get caught?Potter was the leader, was he not, Potter organized it, Potter ‐ why are you shaking your head, girl?ʹ ʹWell, usually when a person shakes their head,ʹ said McGonagall coldly, ʹthey mean ʺnoʺ. So unless Miss Edgecombe is using a form of sign‐language as yet unknown to humans ‐ʹ Professor Umbridge seized Marietta, pulled her round to face her and began shaking her very hard. A split second later Dumbledore was on his feet, his wand raised; Kingsley started forwards and Umbridge leapt back from Marietta, waving her hands in the air as though they had been burned. ʹI cannot allow you to manhandle my students, Dolores,ʹ said Dumbledore and, for the first time, he looked angry.ʹYou will now be escorted back to the Ministry, where you will be formally charged, then sent to Azkaban to await trial!ʹ ʹAh,ʹ said Dumbledore gently, ʹyes. Yes, I thought we might hit that little snag.ʹ ʹSnag?ʹ said Fudge, his voice still vibrating with joy. ʹI see no snag, Dumbledore!ʹ ʹWell,ʹ said Dumbledore apologetically, ʹIʹm afraid I do.ʹ ʹOh, really?ʹ ʹWell ‐ itʹs just that you seem to be laboring under the delusion that I am going to ‐ what is the phrase? ‐ come quietly. I am afraid I am not going to come quietly at all, Cornelius. I have absolutely no intention of being sent to Azkaban. I could break out, of course ‐ but what a waste of time, and frankly, I can think of a whole host of things I would rather be doing.ʹ Q6 - What are your thoughts on Dumbledore here?ʹI am not leaving to go into hiding. Fudge will soon wish heʹd never dislodged me from Hogwarts, I promise you.ʹ Q7 - What is Dumbledore going to do now?Professor McGonagall said nothing, but marched Harry and Marietta to the door. As it swung closed behind them, Harry heard Phineas Nigellusʹs voice. ʹYou know, Minister, I disagree with Dumbledore on many counts… but you cannot deny heʹs got style…ʹ Q8 - What do you think about everything that just happened?

Winston Churchill once said that ‘Dictators ride to and fro upon tigers from which they dare not dismount. And the tigers are getting hungry.' In the wake of what happened in Washington last week, I think this metaphor illustrates something deeper about the relationship between demagogues and their followers. Who are the tigers and why are they hungry? Riots - the voice of the unheard - clearly signify some issues within a society that if not resolved inevitably lead to the baring of teeth. Tigers only emerge from tears in the social fabric. The more the economic, social, or cultural chasm rips open, the more untamed emotions spill out of the void, and the more likely it becomes that a demagogue can saddle-up and offer a solution. Steve Bannon said that ‘we got elected on Drain the Swamp, Lock Her Up, Build a Wall….This was pure anger. Anger and fear is what gets people to the polls.” Many ancient philosophers were skeptical of democracy because it was vulnerable to the threat of demagogues. Plato argued in the Republic that because democracy must allow freedom of speech it was defenseless against strongmen who could make to the demos based on their fears and emotions. Joseph Goebbels said that ‘This will always remain one of the best jokes of democracy, that it gave its deadly enemies the means by which it was destroyed.' So why is it that democracy is vulnerable to demagogues? What do demagogues offer and how might we protect against it? Then & Now is FAN-FUNDED! No, impeachment isn't proving a partisan divide. There are people who believe what they saw with their own eyes on the White House driveway, and those who are glued to Fox News. "Lock Him Up" at the World Series is not the same as "Lock Her Up" at the RNC. And we are DONE with civility with those who insist on lying. Welcome back class! Today we are talking about a movie that was frankly pretty hard to watch, 2016's Don't Breathe. It happened to strike a chord with the public, making ten times what it cost to make. To Dawn Keetley, a Professor of English at Lehigh University, it signifies a growing trend in our cultural subconsciousness. We use her essay, "Lock Her Up! Angry Men and Captive Women in Post-Recession Horror" as a jumping-off point to discuss the movie and what trends we are currently seeing at the nexus of politics, culture, and horror. Before we get there though, we talk a bit about IT so watch out for spoilers if you haven't seen it already. Regarding IT and the depiction of gay characters, there is an awesome article discussing the topic over at Gizmodo. Dawn Keetley's essay appears in the new non-fiction horror book, Make America Hate Again, Trump-Era Horror and the Politics of Fear from Routledge Press. You can buy a copy here or check out the preview on Google Books. Mike totally gives a 50,000 foot view of exactly what the "structure of feeling" means. The second season of Donald Trump's reality election series got off to a slow start, as his "Keep America Great" slogan just hasn't had the same resonance as 2016's MAGA. But his rabid rally crowd's new chant appears to be a hit. After all, "Lock Her Up" has gotten so old. "Send Her Back" is a lot more relevant, even when used on natural born American citizens. It's really tough NOT to be sarcastic after a week when the president and his party has tripled down on racism and vile bigotry. MOMocrats Karoli, Aliza Worthington, and Donna Schwartz Mills won't hold back as they talk about the latest new low. There will likely be some discussion of the House impeachment vote, Mueller's upcoming testimony, the unsealed Michael Cohen documents, and the 2020 candidates who are vying to truly make America great again.
Think of all the things you could do in 16 months. You could learn an instrument in 16 months. You could train and compete in a marathon, hell, in 16 months you could probably train for and complete an ironman. In 16 months, you could become reasonably proficient in a new language if you were really dedicated. You could meet a new partner, fall in love, conceive a child, and have them settled in daycare within 16 months.Yet we’re 16 months from the U.S election. 16 months!! Half an electoral term in New Zealand. And the race for U.S President has kicked into gear.Donald Trump launched his campaign with one of his typical rallies, we’re gonna see a whole lot of those over the next year and a half. I dunno if you saw it, but actually there was nothing much to differentiate the rally from one that he would have given four years ago. He railed against the media. He railed against immigration, even though he’s been in charge since the start of 2017. And despite the fact she isn’t his opponent this time, he launched into attacks on Hillary Clinton, sparking the old ‘Lock Her Up’ chant. The Democrats then kicked off their primary contest with two nights of debates. They needed two of course, because there are so many Democrats vying to become the nominee next year.Is that a risk? Only if the primary contest gets super nasty. If they’re spitefully cutting each other down, and the lowlier contenders don’t exit the race fast enough. One of the things we learnt from the last election is that Republicans are much more effective at quietly moving on from their nastiest barbs to coalesce around a candidate. Some of Trump’s harshest critics from the Primaries – the likes of Lindsey Graham - are now his strongest political allies. The last election was actually decided by a minuscule number of votes. Hillary Clinton comfortably won the popular vote, but by the structure of the electoral college, Trump won by 77,000 votes across Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania. 138 million votes cast and a group of people smaller than Palmerston North proved all the difference. There are now some big strategic decisions for the Democrats to make. They have to decide whether to simply chase those 77,000 votes with a candidate who might appeal to previous Trump voters, or whether to try and blitz Trump with someone completely different. Is it better to go with someone like Joe Biden, who would effectively represent a reset, a return to the norms of U.S politics? Or better to go with someone who represents radical change? Bernie Sanders is vowing to wipe out 1.5 trillion in student debt. He wants universal healthcare! Having lived there and covered the last two U.S elections, I can’t tell you at the moment what I think is the best of those two strategies. Because I think there’s one other. It has been mooted firstly as a joke, but increasingly seriously. My favourite American politico is the comedian and provocateur Bill Maher. He made a good pitch for this candidate last week. A candidate who would dazzle the electorate with their star power. A candidate who would cut across economic and racial lines, the groups by which we try to define voter blocks. A candidate who says they’ve been offered campaign financing by billionaires who’ve pleaded with them, desperately, to enter the race. Bill Maher reckons this candidate is the only sure thing. The only person guaranteed to unite Democrats and independents and to sew the first in unifying a divided America. It might sound absurd but I can’t think of a good argument against it.And just imagine, 16 months from now. President Donald Trump defeated, by President Elect Oprah Winfrey.
"Lock Her Up" has been chanted innumerable times and led by people like imprisoned Michael Flynn, now former AG Jeff Sessions at a Turning Point USA conference, and President Trump himself at CPAC. Does that apply to Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner for their use of private email and WhatsApp for official state business? Plus, on the one year anniversary of March For Our Lives, we have the tragic news of a second suicide this week of a student at Stoneman Douglas High School.

Just two and a half years ago, General Michael Flynn stood on the stage at the Republican National Convention and led some 20,000 people (and a good many more at home) in an impromptu chant of “Lock Her Up! Lock Her Up!” about his enemy Hillary Clinton. A few months later, he was swept into the White House with the Trump Administration, finding himself now the National Security Advisor to the most powerful man in the world. It was an incredible second act for a man who had been unceremoniously fired by the previous president and whose sanity many had questioned when he had first signed on with the campaign. That’s life. It comes at you fast. But then, just 24 days into his new job. Flynn was fired once more, in this case for lying to the Vice President about conversations he’d had with Sergey Kislyak, the Russian ambassador to the United States. Soon enough there was a special prosecutor breathing down his neck with criminal charges for lying to the FBI. On December 18th, a grand total of 29 months since his appearance on that stage in Cleveland, Michael Flynn found himself standing before Judge Emmet Sullivan, who had the power to decide whether it was he who would be locked up, and possibly branded as a traitor.Again, life comes at you fast. The purpose of today’s email is not to gloat at the fall of Michael Flynn, a man who in a previous lifetime served his country honorably, but to ring the reminder that all tragedies are supposed to ring: That our fates are always uncertain and that hubris only makes them more precarious. It was ambition of the kind that Flynn had--the desire to get ahead, or to get even, at all costs--that the Stoics warned against time and time again. Indeed, Seneca’s own life was a cautionary tale that Flynn might have done well to study as he greedily gobbled up consulting and speaking fees from foreign entities, and whose painful dance with power might have served as a deterrent to a man considering entering another controversial administration. When we take shortcuts, when we fall in with the wrong crowd, when we act in ways we know run contrary to the principles we believe in...we are chipping away at our own security and our own peace of mind. When we attack the flaws in other people and ignore our own (or, use that as a strategy to obscure our own), we are writing the end of our own tragedy.Life comes at us fast. It is unmerciful and often poetic in the justice that it metes out. Be careful. Be ready. And, more than anything, don’t be your own worst enemy.

There’s a dark chapter in American history that gets left out of the history books: the American Plan, which detained tens, and possibly hundreds of thousands of women from the 1910s through the 1950s. Conceived in WWI to protect soldiers from “promiscuous” women and the diseases they possibly carried, women were surveilled, picked off the street, detained without due process, imprisoned sometimes for years, and forcefully injected with unproven mercury treatments for sexually transmitted infections they were merely suspected of having. The American Plan laid the groundwork—and sometimes, the literal foundations—for the women’s prisons and mass incarcerations of today. Progressive luminaries like Eleanor Roosevelt, Margaret Sanger, and Earl Warren endorsed the plan, so its victims, more often than not women of color, were often forced to fight back on their own. Historian Scott W. Stern joins us to tell the story of Nina McCall, one of the women who defied a system that locked her up even though she was a virgin, experimented on her, and then tried to silence her.Go beyond the episode:Episode page, featuring a slideshow of sexist government PSAs against STIs and images of American Plan institutionsScott W. The President began the week by giving a somber, thoughtful foreign policy speech on Afghanistan, which is the longest-running war in US history. He read from the teleprompter, didn't stray, and received high marks. On Tuesday, just eight months into his administration, he held a 2020 campaign rally in Phoenix, where he reverted to form, misquoting his own remarks after Charlottesville, and raging against Arizona's two Republican senators and the press (he even led a chant of "Lock Her Up" for old time's sake). Then last night, in a speech to an audience of veterans, he switched back to "presidential." If this president reminds you of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, there's no mistaking which persona is the real Donald Trump. MOMocrats Karoli, Aliza Worthington and Donna Schwartz Mills discuss. Why didnâ??t President Obama pardon Hillary Clinton? After his election â?? as President-elect â?? Donald Trump announced that he bore no ill will towards the Clintons and didnâ??t want to hurt them. This was a rather surprising statement after 18 months speaking at huge rallies around the nation where the crowd inevitably chanted â??Lock her up.â?? [insert: Lock Her Up chants] But Trump knows that the Clintons represent a significant and malevolent force in politics both domestically and internationally. THIS MORNING, TRUMP DITCHED HIS TOP CAMPAIGN PROMISE TO SEND HILLARY CLINTON TO JAIL! AFTER CHANTING 'LOCK HER UP' AT PACKED CAMPAIGN RALLIES, TRUMP TOOK ONLY 2 WEEKS AFTER ELECTION DAY TO FLIP-FLOP ON HIS CENTRAL PROMISE TO 'DRAIN THE SWAMP.' ACCORDING TO NYPOST, TRUMP'S CAMPAIGN SPOKESMAN ANNOUNCED TODAY THAT TRUMP WILL "HELP HILLARY HEAL" INSTEAD OF SEEKING CHARGES FOR HER CRIMES (DESTRUCTION OF EVIDENCE, MONEY LAUNDERING, MOLESTATION, TREASON). WILL HILLARY CLINTON'S MONEY LAUNDERING OPERATION (CLINTON FOUNDATION) CONTINUE TO ESCAPE JUSTICE? WILL HILLARY'S PACK OF PERVERTS, RAPISTS AND DEVIL WORSHIPPERS EVER SEE THE INSIDE OF A JAIL? CONGRESS IS SO CORRUPT, AND SO BLACKMAILED, THAT THE ANSWER IS PROBABLY 'NO.' JOHN PODESTA, ANTHONY WEINER, HUMA ABEDIN, PLUS RAPIST BILL CLINTON, ARE DELIGHTED THAT TRUMP WON'T PURSUE HILLARY -- SINCE PROSECUTING HILLARY WOULD SEND THEM ALL TO PRISON. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR TRUMP'S PRESIDENCY -- AND FOR THE RULE OF LAW?

http://stateofthenation2012.com/?p=52204#more-52204 As a BAR-registered lawyer, U.S. Senator and Secretary of State, no one knows this particular law better than Mrs. Clinton.  Actually the DNC probably knows it better as they are directly responsible for vetting the presidential candidates who are officially nominated by the Democratic Party. Transparent Manipulation of the MSM has Incensed the Electorate Hillary Clintonâ??s naked control over the Mainstream Media (MSM) has only pushed more voters into the Donald Trump camp. The Wikileaks emails showing the unparalleled influence exerted daily by the DNC over the MSM also reveal a deliberate criminal conspiracy to subvert American democracy. Everyone knows that CNN is really the Clinton News Network. Everyone knows that MSNBC and CBS News are merely propaganda organs of the Clinton Campaign. However, that emails have been released, which expose this illicit collaboration between the DNC and the media, is both unprecedented and paradigm-shattering.  The American electoral process will NEVER be that same, nor should it be.  See for yourself: Trumpsters Take On The Mainstream Media Hillary is running for president to avoid being a prisoner There is now so much incriminating information that has been downloaded throughout the public domain that serves as an indictment of Clintonâ??s official misconduct that the American people will not rest until she is imprisoned.  She knows this.  Which is why she continues to run for POTUS in spite of having a very precarious health status. The numerous professional medical diagnoses (including her personal physician) and various medical opinions which can now be found on the Internet are all conclusive: Hillary suffers from Parkinsonâ??s disease, Subcortical vascular dementia and Post-concussive syndrome.  Why in the world would she ever run for president unless she absolutely had to?  Even her NWO globalist masters cannot compel her to do something she is effectively incapable of.
Banana Repubicanism.
Now itâ??s not just Trump supporters saying â??Lock Her Upâ??, Itâ??s a major US senator and two Judges. We have the DOJ saying they wonâ??t allow a Clinton Foundation probe, FBI Comey wanting to indict on the Hillary emails but then doesnâ??t, new email leaks by Judicial Watch that show ambassador Stevenâ??s schedule was hacked from Hillary Clinton emails, emails leaks that led to the assassination of a scientist and undercover agents, and Clinton Foundation ties to the State Department. Come on now!!! What does Hillary have to do to get indicted and prosecuted. Like Trump said earlier in his primary run, I could short someone in downtown NY and they would still support me. Thatâ??s the extent of criminality going on with Obama and the DOJ, as well as, Comey himself. The gloves are now off and the media and some politicians are turning against Hillary in a big way. The reports of her health issues are everywhere now. Unfortunately Trump needs all the help he can get, because he keeps stabbing himself in the back. Can either of them actually physically or mentally make it to the finish line? What if they both drop out?
