Professor Sprout awarded Gryffindor twenty points when Harry passed her a watering can; a beaming Professor Flitwick pressed a box of squeaking sugar mice on him at the end of Charms, said, ʹShh!ʹ  and hurried away; and Professor Trelawney broke into hysterical sobs during Divination and announced to the startled class, and a very disapproving Umbridge, that Harry was not going to suffer an early death after all, but would live to a ripe old age, become Minister for Magic and have twelve children.Q3 - What's your favorite time a teacher praised you?Q4 - What's the deal with Avery and Rookwood? What information are they giving to Voldy?ʹI was You-Know-Who,ʹ said Harry, and he stretched out his hands in the darkness and held them up to his face, to check that they were no longer deathly white and long‐fingered.Q5 - Why is Harry now becoming Voldemort?ʹSturgis Podmore—' said Hermione breathlessly, ʹarrested for trying to get through a door! Lucius Malfoy must have got him too! I bet he did it the day you saw him there, Harry. Sturgis had Moodyʹs Invisibility Cloak, right? So, what if he was standing guard by the door, invisible, and Malfoy heard him move ‐ or guessed someone was there ‐ or just did the Imperius Curse on the off‐chance thereʹd be a guard there? So, when Sturgis next had an opportunity ‐ probably when it was his turn on guard duty again—he tried to get into the Department to steal the weapon for Voldemort—Ron, be quiet—but he got caught and sent to Azkaban…ʺ Q6 - Is Hermione right here?Snape staggered ‐ his wand flew upwards, away from Harry ‐and suddenly Harryʹs mind was teeming with memories that were not his: a hook‐nosed man was shouting at a cowering woman, while a small dark‐haired boy cried in a corner… a greasy‐haired teenager sat alone in a dark bedroom, pointing his wand at the ceiling, shooting down flies… a girl was laughing as a scrawny boy tried to mount a bucking broomstick.Q7 - Do any of these memories mean anything?ʹCan you tell me something, sir?ʹ said Harry, firing up again. ʹWhy do you call Voldemort the Dark Lord? Iʹve only ever heard Death Eaters call him that.ʹ  Snape opened his mouth in a snarl ‐ and a woman screamed from somewhere outside the room. Snapes head jerked upwards; he was gazing at the ceiling.There, there, Sybill… calm down… blow your nose on this… itʹs not as bad as you think, now… you are not going to have to leave Hogwarts…ʺ  ʹOh really, Professor McGonagall?ʹ said Umbridge in a deadly voice, taking a few steps forward. ʹAnd your authority for that statement is… ?ʹ  That would be mine,ʹ said a deep voice. The oaken front doors had swung open. Students beside them scuttled out of the way as Dumbledore appeared in the entrance. What he had been doing out in the grounds Harry could not imagine, but there was something impressive about the sight of him framed in the doorway against an oddly misty night.Q8 - What was Dumbledore doing outside the castle at this hour?Q9 - Thoughts on Trelawney sack, Dumbledore's attitude, and Firenze hire?Chapter 27 - The Centaur and the SneakʹNot reallyʹ said Hermione indifferently, who was reading the Daily Prophet. ʹIʹve never really liked horses.ʹ  She turned a page of the newspaper and scanned its columns. ʹHeʹs not a horse, heʹs a centaur!ʹ said Lavender, sounding shocked. ʹA gorgeous centaur…ʹ sighed Parvati.Q1 - Is it weird to be attracted to a centaur? Mars, bringer of battle, shines brightly above us, suggesting that the fight must soon break out again.Q3 - Is he right here?Q4 - What is Hagrid attempting?Q5 - Did you think they were going to ever get caught?Potter was the leader, was he not, Potter organized it, Potter ‐ why are you shaking your head, girl?ʹ  ʹWell, usually when a person shakes their head,ʹ said McGonagall coldly, ʹthey mean ʺnoʺ. So unless Miss Edgecombe is using a form of sign‐language as yet unknown to humans ‐ʹ  Professor Umbridge seized Marietta, pulled her round to face her and began shaking her very hard. A split second later Dumbledore was on his feet, his wand raised; Kingsley started forwards and Umbridge leapt back from Marietta, waving her hands in the air as though they had been burned. ʹI cannot allow you to manhandle my students, Dolores,ʹ said Dumbledore and, for the first time, he looked angry.ʹYou will now be escorted back to the Ministry, where you will be formally charged, then sent to Azkaban to await trial!ʹ  ʹAh,ʹ said Dumbledore gently, ʹyes. Yes, I thought we might hit that little snag.ʹ  ʹSnag?ʹ said Fudge, his voice still vibrating with joy. ʹI see no snag, Dumbledore!ʹ  ʹWell,ʹ said Dumbledore apologetically, ʹIʹm afraid I do.ʹ  ʹOh, really?ʹ  ʹWell ‐ itʹs just that you seem to be laboring under the delusion that I am going to ‐ what is the phrase? ‐ come quietly. I am afraid I am not going to come quietly at all, Cornelius. I have absolutely no intention of being sent to Azkaban. I could break out, of course ‐ but what a waste of time, and frankly, I can think of a whole host of things I would rather be doing.ʹ Q6 - What are your thoughts on Dumbledore here?ʹI am not leaving to go into hiding. The Headʹs office has sealed itself against her.ʹ Ernie smirked. ʹApparently, she had a right little tantrum.”Q1 - Do you think Dumbledore did this or is this just the magic of the castle?ʹMalfoy just docked us all about fifty points,ʹ said Harry furiously, as they watched several more stones fly upwards from the Gryffindor hour‐glass. ʹYeah, Montague tried to do us during break,ʹ said George. ʹWhat do you mean, ʺtriedʺ?ʹ said Ron quickly. ʹHe never managed to get all the words out,ʹ said Fred, ʹdue to the fact that we forced him head‐first into that Vanishing Cabinet on the first floor.ʹ Q2 - Where do you think Montague vanished to?Q3 - What do you think about the new point system?The upshot of it all was that Professor Umbridge spent her first afternoon as Headmistress running all over the school answering the summonses of the other teachers, none of whom seemed able to rid their rooms of the fireworks without her. When the final bell rang and they were heading back to Gryffindor Tower with their bags, Harry saw, with immense satisfaction, a dishevelled and soot-blackened Umbridge tottering sweaty‐faced from Professor Flitwickʹs classroom.And now he was in a dimly lit room as high and wide as a church, full of nothing but rows and rows of towering shelves, each laden with small, dusty, spun‐glass spheres… now Harrys heart was beating fast with excitement… he knew where to go… he ran forwards, but his footsteps made no noise in the enormous, deserted room… There was something in this room he wanted very, very much…Q4 - What is Harry looking at here?Sheʹs a lovely person really,ʹ said Cho. ʹShe just made a mistake ‐ʹ  Harry looked at her incredulously. ʹA lovely person who made a mistake? She sold us all out, including you!ʹ  ʹWell… we all got away, didnʹt we?ʹ said Cho pleadingly. ʹYou know, her mum works for the Ministry, itʹs really difficult for her ‐ʹ  ʹRonʹs dad works for the Ministry too!ʹ Harry said furiously. ʹAnd in case you hadnʹt noticed, he hasnʹt got sneak written across his face ‐ʹ  That was a really horrible trick of Hermione Grangerʹs,ʹ said Cho fiercely. ʹShe should have told us sheʹd jinxed that list ‐ʹ  ʹI think it was a brilliant idea,ʹ said Harry coldly. Cho flushed and her eyes grew brighter. ʹOh yes, I forgot ‐ of course, if it was darling Hermioneʹs idea ‐ʹ  ʹDonʹt start crying again,ʹ said Harry warningly. ʹI wasnʹt going to!ʹ she shouted. ʹYeah… well… good,ʹ he said. Iʹve got enough to cope with at the moment.ʹ  ʹGo and cope with it then!ʹ Cho said furiously, turning on her heel and stalking off.Q5 - Who is right in this debate?Q6 - Should Harry have looked into Snape's memories?ʹLeave him ALONE!ʹ  James and Sirius looked round. Jamesʹs free hand immediately jumped to his hair. It was one of the girls from the lake edge. She had thick, dark red hair that fell to her shoulders, and startlingly green almond-shaped eyes—Harryʹs eyes. If I have to coach you nightly, I will make sure you achieve the required results!ʹQ5 - Thoughts on the showdown with McG and Umbridge?ʹHe kept messing up his hair,ʹ said Harry in a pained voice. Sirius and Lupin laughed. ʹIʹd forgotten he used to do that,ʹ said Sirius affectionately. ʹWas he playing with the Snitch?ʹ said Lupin eagerly. ʹYeah,ʹ said Harry, watching uncomprehendingly as Sirius and Lupin beamed reminiscently. ʹWell… I thought he was a bit of an idiot.ʹ Q6 - How do you look at your past self?Q7 - Are Sirius and Lupin right to laugh it off like this?ʹSTOP THEM!ʹ shrieked Umbridge, but it was too late. As the Inquisitorial Squad closed in, Fred and George kicked off from the floor, shooting fifteen feet into the air, the iron peg swinging dangerously below. Fred looked across the hall at the poltergeist bobbing on his level above the crowd. ʹGive her hell from us, Peeves.ʹ  And Peeves, who Harry had never seen take an order from a student before, swept his belled hat from his head and sprang to a salute as Fred and George wheeled about to tumultuous applause from the students below and sped out of the open front doors into the glorious sunset.Q8 - What do you think about this?

If I didn't know any better, I might say that she's jeal— [click, static] She's not very pleased with you. She's…frustrated. Which I get. I'm pretty much always frustrated with you. But I still like you, for some reason. I still like talking to you. I'll never forget the first time we spoke, really spoke, in dits and dashes. I don't think I'd ever experienced that kind of joy before. Not until I found Donnie.  Harry…Harry did finally get an apology out for that. For her part in that. For the part I feel she played. She cornered me in the kitchen this morning—we've been staying in this little house for the last week, I think we've probably got to move soon but for now we've been getting by. Though it is weird to be in a new space with her. She's always somewhere I don't expect. But I guess I don't really expect her anywhere anymore. I'm so used to not seeing her.  I keep trying to not see her, if I'm honest. I've spent a lot of time in my car, scanning all the open channels and looking at my atlas, trying to figure out where we should go next. Even when we're in the same room, I try not to look at her for too long. Because I know that if I do, I'll—I'll let her talk to me. I'll let her apologize.  Apparently she wasn't keen on waiting for me to cave. She withheld the hot water and stood in the doorway and wouldn't let me leave or get tea until she said her piece.  It was clear that she'd practiced it. Or, at the very least, come up with a plan of what she wanted to say.  She said she was sorry for Don. That she had never wanted anyone to get hurt, that she's lived every day in terror since Junior showed up at the house. Terror that he would catch up to her or, worse, catch up to me. That's what she said. That it would be worse.  And she said, straight out, that she does feel responsible, for all of it. She always has. Even when we thought it was nuclear war or some rampant disease, she thought it was just…the universe punishing her. She seemed…annoyed, that I'm the one the universe chose to punish for my decision. Almost like she's offended that she's not the main character of the world.  Maybe that's unfair. Probably that's unfair. Maybe she was annoyed because she doesn't want me to be punished. She did say—she said I didn't deserve it. That I didn't deserve any of it, that she would take on the burden by herself if she could.  She also did assure me that she had no idea about any of this—the timelines, Birdie and Fox, the direct consequences of my actions. She really was just scared that something terrible would find us if we left the safety of our house and I guess she was sort of right about that, even if she didn't know it for certain.  She said she'd do anything to make it right. That all I had to do was tell her what I wanted and she'd do it.  I have no idea what I want. She can't fix the things that are broken and I also…I wouldn't know how to make demands of Harry. I'm too used to being the person who steps into line, I wouldn't know where to begin making a new path.  Anyway, going north. We'll do it. At least I'll have someone in the passenger seat with me this time. [click, static]

That the gravy train had to stop at some point, and that she wanted to get off before she became a casualty of it. I think that's a pretty fucking presumptuous thing to assume—plenty of thieves don't get caught and we were good. And, besides, she could have just quit! She didn't have to be doing what she was doing, but when she found out about Pete… When I've said that I never knew much about Pete's life, that was true. Mostly. I really never did know anything about his personal life or what he'd been doing before putting together this crew. I never asked and he never volunteered any information.  But that wasn't the whole truth. I didn't know much about his life then but Harry…Harry filled in some blanks.  Pete wasn't just an art thief. It wasn't all penthouses and auction houses for him, apparently. He started with banks. And something like ninety percent of all bank robbers get caught, but Pete was…the best of the best. The feds had no clue who he was, barely even had his height and race. And then, one off the robberies went bad and he—a few people died. Three people.  So he came back to his hometown of New York to disappear among the millions. He cooled his heels and then he started in again, just on a higher brow racket.  I don't know how Harry figured this out. We…we didn't get to that point in our conversation. (scoffs) “Conversation”, there's a euphemism for it. Argument? Screaming match? Dropping a nuclear bomb into our tentatively okay existence? I was a little more focused on the revelation that the person I'd been living with for six years had betrayed me and the people we cared about. The revelation that my mentor had killed a few people… I don't know. I'm still not sure…Harry has no reason to lie. Not about this. And, I guess, there were things through the years that made me think Pete's past was a lot more checkered than even your typical thief. But I wasn't lying when I said he always seemed like a stand-up guy to me. He was. He was good and kind and fair and the fact that he made his money through illegal endeavors felt really secondary to all of that.  I'm not sure the knowledge that he's killed people—multiple people and not—not entirely by accident, not like— It should change things. I know it should. And it isn't that I don't believe Harry, even not knowing how she found out about it, it—I don't think she would have done what she did unless she'd been certain. I'll give her that. But it hasn't reshaped who Pete is in my head.  He took me in, mentored me, was a friend. He made me his ally when he could have just as easily made me an enemy. He saw something in me. Something worth…something worth attention and care. And I hadn't had that since my father died and I— I've thought a lot about what I would have done if I'd known before. I've shared nearly every other thought I've had in my head besides these ones, because I had to make room somehow, over this past—god, year, since I learned the truth.  What if Harry had come to me first before going to the feds? What if I'd been the one to uncover Pete's past and not her? What would I have done? I wouldn't have betrayed him, that's for sure and fucking certain. I probably would've confronted him about it. Maybe. I would've wanted to hear his side of things. I would've wanted to know why he did what he did, how he felt about it now. And maybe I wouldn't have—well, I wouldn't have understood it, the way I do now, if I'd known before, because if I'd known, we never would've been arrested and I'd never have killed Billings and— [click, static] I still think I would've been sympathetic. Empathetic. I don't know. I would've given him…grace. Forgiveness. Even if it isn't mine to forgive. I would've loved him just the same.  And that's the rub, isn't it? Harry said that she could never—she said that she wasn't honest about how she felt because she was too swallowed up by guilt, was too scared to tell me the truth and have me run away and too scared to start anything when she had this secret but what if it wasn't that at all? What if the way she felt about me—the way she'd ever be able to feel about me—changed the moment Billings hit the pavement? She found the truth out about Pete and stopped caring for him in a blink. She saw what I did, so surely— [click, static] Well, in any case, I guess she was right. I did run away.  [click, static]

A split second later Dumbledore was on his feet, his wand raised; Kingsley started forwards and Umbridge leapt back from Marietta, waving her hands in the air as though they had been burned. ʹI cannot allow you to manhandle my students, Dolores,ʹ said Dumbledore and, for the first time, he looked angry.ʹYou will now be escorted back to the Ministry, where you will be formally charged, then sent to Azkaban to await trial!ʹ  ʹAh,ʹ said Dumbledore gently, ʹyes. Yes, I thought we might hit that little snag.ʹ  ʹSnag?ʹ said Fudge, his voice still vibrating with joy. ʹI see no snag, Dumbledore!ʹ  ʹWell,ʹ said Dumbledore apologetically, ʹIʹm afraid I do.ʹ  ʹOh, really?ʹ  ʹWell ‐ itʹs just that you seem to be laboring under the delusion that I am going to ‐ what is the phrase? ‐ come quietly. Introduction: Minutes 0 to 2:30 I've been sick and you can hear it in my voice. It reminds Chandra of Polly Draper from 30 Something. We'll have an episode out next week and will be off the 24th and 31st for the holiday. Royals: Minutes 2:30 to 27:00 Will and Kate didn't even invite the nominees to the Earthshot Awards, which seemed like a parody. The celebrities attended in person though. This is especially hypocritical because there were stories in the British press about how the Waleses were so much better than the Sussexes and how William calls the Sussexes the Kardashians. This would have been a great opportunity to have the scientists get together and network. We got to see Harry and Meghan at the Ripple of Hope Awards, where they were honored for their activism. Meghan was wearing a beautiful sleek white off the shoulder Louis Vuitton gown with sleek hair. She just glowed. We remember her Salute to Freedom Gown because it was shown on the Harry and Meghan docuseries. We got the first three episodes of Harry & Meghan on Netflix and we've both watched them. Liz Garbus did a great job with their story. Most of it was known to us already but it's a great recap of their story and I was blown away by how well it was told. Chandra wishes it had come out earlier. We're not the audience for this series, people who have a passing interest in them are. We hope Omid Scobie is in the second half and we've heard that Christopher Bouzy is in it. We liked how much of Meghan's background pre-Harry the series covered. Meghan was so successful, fun and cool before she met her future husband. The British media has attacked Meghan for not having family other than her mother at her wedding, but the royals told her not to invite her favorite niece, Samantha's daughter Ashleigh, with whom she was close. That was new information to us. We were so impressed by Meghan's mom Doria. We liked how Samantha and Meghan's dad Tom were covered briefly and dismissed. We learned that Thomas's story about being yelled at by Harry on the phone was a lie because all he did was text with Meghan and it didn't even sound like him. We liked the section that put the racist treatment of Meghan into context with Brexit, the commonwealth and anti-immigration sentiment. Meghan explained her fashion choices and why she had a neutral color palette, although we think that's just her style. She also told the story of meeting Will and Kate for the first time and trying to hug them. She was very diplomatic about it. Chandra mentions how Meghan doesn't have deference toward royals because she's American. She'd already met other royals before Will and Kate and we assume that Eugenie and Beatrice were warmer toward her.  Chandra says they wanted to establish their love story before explaining how things went so wrong in the UK. She also mentions the story about how the palaces denied being contacted for comment but that Netflix came with receipts. Harry explained how the press treatment of Meghan was racist and how his family blew him off and told them their wives went through it too. Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today, we're covering every time that Severus Snape SAVED Harry Potter. While, of course, it is true that Snape had little love for “The Boy Who Lived”, the fact remains that he had A LOT of love for Harry's deceased mum, Lily Potter. As anyone who has read or watched the final movie of the Harry Potter series will know, the whole reason Severus abandoned his allegiance to the Dark Lord in favour of being a double agent for Albus Dumbledore and The Order of the Phoenix was indeed his feelings for Lily – a devotion that seemed to only deepen with her murder, committed by Voldemort himself. In any case, in the wake of Lily's death, the only part of her that lived on was, of course, her son, Harry. Unfortunately, for Harry and Snape both, the boy was also a constant reminder to Severus that Lily had chosen a life and partner who wasn't him. That partner was, of course, James Potter, who had been a peer of both Severus and Lily at Hogwarts, and who had spent years tormenting Snape. So, what does this leave us with? We know that Snape likely felt incredibly torn over his feelings for the young Harry Potter when he finally arrived at Hogwarts, 11 years after his beloved Lily had been murdered alongside her husband – whom he loathed – at the hands of his former master, who he had betrayed in an attempt to save Lily, only to have her die and Voldemort disappear.

Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today we're discussing why Hermione Granger should have been with Harry Potter instead of Ron Weasley. For those of you who are primarily fans of the Harry Potter novels, or enjoy both the books and the movies, I imagine that this particular sentiment sparks outrage at the very mention of the idea. On the other hand, for all you movie loyalists out there, I'm fairly certain many of you are likely nodding your heads along in agreement. And it is for this EXACT reason that I'd like to further define today's topic – so that there is no confusion on the matter. That is, I only believe that Hermione should have been with Harry in the FILM adaptation of the Harry Potter series. Now, there are exactly three reasons for why I feel this way, and they ALL revolve around the liberties that were taken with Ron, Hermione, and Harry's characters when translating the books into films. Let's get into it.

Episode 135 is a Film Documentary called TRAUMA. TRAUMA depicts the heroism and struggles of a medevac unit in Afghanistan and their lives afterward as they deal with PTSD and other challenges. Medic2Medic speaks with Harry Sanna who is the DIrector and Ryan Cumminham the Producer. Harry is Australian journalist and filmmaker who was based in Afghanistan between 2009 and 2011. In early 2011, Harry was embedded with the C Company Dustoff, Mountain Division, 3-10 GSAB medevac unit at FOB Shank in Logar Province, Afghanistan. Harry intensively filmed the time he spent living and flying alongside a Blackhawk medevac platoon, capturing daily life on base and on missions and befriending the medics. Harry also has contributed articles to TIME Magazine and the New York Times. Ryan Cunningham is a native of Pittsburgh and an Emmy nominated producer with experience in the entertainment and visual effects industry. Ryan has worked on numerous films which we are familiar with like Anchorman 2. Ryan talks about being a producer on this film and states that “The film gives the audience an authentic and relentless first-person experience of the medics’ mission – a high-powered mix of adrenaline, dust and heroism.”We talk about the access that Harry (Harry was in Australia when we recorded) had and how he gained the trust of the Soldiers. We talk about how the idea came about and how Ryan and his production team got involved. The stories and struggles the Soldiers tell are gripping. patents today too I 13-58 found them Mad Dog matters 14-03 [Applause] 14-10 and he doesn't like doing a lot of 14-12 talking but I want to tell you Isis the 14-15 whole different ball game folks they're 14-22 going fast but when Patton ran into a 14-26 problem that he couldn't solve he knew 14-30 what to do he prayed frustrated by range 14-33 that were stalling the advance of his 14-36 third army across Europe in early 14-39 December 1944 horrible weather Patton 14-45 asked an army chaplain to come up with a 14-48 good prayer for the weather Patton then 14-53 had a quarter of a million copies of 14-55 that prayer printed and distributed to 14-57 the soldiers of the Third Army just 14-59 before the Battle of the Bulge that was 15-02 a big one did very well there 15-06 five hundred thousand American soldiers 15-09 fought that pivotal battle of the Second 15-12 World War one of those soldiers is here 15-16 with us tonight his name is Harry F 15-20 Miller where's Harry where's Harry Harry 15-26 stand up Harry 15-28 [Applause] 15-58 like many of the heroes of his 16-00 generation 16-01 Harry wasn't exactly straightforward 16-03 about his age when he enlisted in the 16-08 Army Reserves shame on you how he was 16-13 just 15 but he told them he was old 16-15 enough to join then he immediately asked 16-19 for a transfer to active duty six months 16-23 after he had listed private Miller was 16-26 on his way to Europe to fight for our 16-29 country 16-33 [Applause] 16-39 a couple of months after that he was in 16-41 the freezing cold how cold cold he said 16-46 really cold and driving range of Belgium 16-51 with the 740 of tank battalion attached 16-56 to the 82nd airborne as the Battle of 17-00 the Bulge began Harry got his orders to 17-03 go find tanks at a weapon storage 17-06 facility 17-07 when he arrived he says he and his 17-09 friends found nothing but tanks they 17-12 were all over the place right nothing 17-14 but tanks but they didn't let the tanks 17-18 stop them out of what spare parts they 17-23 could find and through sheer grit and 17-26 resolve they somehow managed to repair 17-29 three of those tanks and get them all 17-32 set for action and ready to fight and 17-35 before long those three tanks were nose 17-38 to nose with the lead elements of a 17-40 German SS Panzer Division and that was 17-43 tough stuff in a short time those tanks 17-47 had knocked out the first three tanks of 17-49 the enemy and the entire German division 17-52 retreated they left 18-00 that's good Harry 18-02 [Applause] 18-04 that's good Harry 18-09 [Applause] 18-40 Herry fought through the battle and the 18-43 rest of the war and he went on to serve 18-46 our armed forces for 22 years retiring 18-49 as a Senior Master Sergeant a lot of 18-52 guts 18-52 tomorrow Harry will be 89 tomorrow so on 19-04 behalf of this very large group in this 19-06 beautiful building senior master 19-09 sergeant Miller happy birthday thank you 19-11 for your lifetime of service and thank 19-14 you for helping out thank you very much 19-17 [Applause] 19-25 every veteran with us tonight from every 19-27 branch of the military Army Navy Marines 19-31 Air Force and Coast Guard I want you to 19-34 know that we will always keep our 19-36 promises to those who have kept us free 19-40 since my very first day in office we've 19-43 taken one action after another to make 19-45 sure that our veterans get the care they 19-48 so richly deserve 19-50 we've published wait times those wait 19-54 times were bad weren't they but boy are 19-57 they getting better and fast and we've 20-00 published them at every VA facility 20-03 delivered same day mental health 20-05 services at every VA Medical Center 20-09 nearly doubled 20-11 [Applause] 20-18 the number of veterans given approvals 20-21 to see the doctor of their choice and as 20-31 I said just signed brand-new legislation 20-35 went through the house went through the 20-38 Senate and I signed 20-59 tonight we are deeply honored to be 21-01 joined by a number of wounded warriors 21-04 from Walter Reed I was over there 21-07 recently these are incredible people the 21-09 enthusiasm and the spirit and some of 21-13 them were hurt really badly 21-15 they've got so much spirit and they love 21-17 this country so much these American 21-20 heroes risked everything so that you and 21-23 I can live in freedom they gave all they 21-26 had everything for their comrades their 21-31 country and for victory they liked 21-33 winning we like winning again don't we 21-36 [Applause] 21-42 you know the old days we used to win we 21-45 sort of just keep fighting and fighting 21-47 and fighting gonna win again folks 21-50 we applaud their strength their courage 21-54 and we really support that incredible 21-59 wind that they have the will the will is 22-03 so strong and that's what they want to 22-06 do is they want to win and they want to 22-07 win for you so thank you all very much 22-09 many different 23-09 positions on five combat tours and he 23-13 was always a leader and everybody always 23-15 said I did some checking on you Louise 23-17 that you did a great job no matter where 23-20 you were no matter where you went on his 23-24 fifth deployment Louise bravely led his 23-27 company on a successful mission to 23-29 recover vital intelligence during this 23-33 critical mission his vehicle was struck 23-36 by explosives Louise was gravely wounded 23-40 and lost his leg he received a Purple 23-43 Heart for service and sacrifice to Lewis 23-47 and Claudia we will never forget the 23-50 courageous sacrifice that you made for 23-52 all of us in this room tonight and for 23-55 everyone in our country thank you thank 23-57 you 23-58 [Applause] 24-23 I want you all and all of our incredible 24-29 wounded warriors to know you have an 24-32 entire nation of more than 300 million 24-37 people behind you and our nations 24-39 getting strong again you notice getting 24-42 strong again our hearts and our prayers 24-47 are joined with yours 24-49 your legacy like our gratitude will live 24-54 forever and I want to thank you thank 24-56 you very much and Claudia thank you very 24-58 much thank you 25-05 I also want to speak to all of the 25-09 people see you thought I forgot in our 25-12 faith community who are here with us 25-15 tonight veterans and non-veterans alike 25-25 you're never gonna be forgotten you'll 25-28 never be forgotten my administration 25-32 will always support and defend your 25-35 religious liberty 25-37 [Applause] 25-43 we with 27-19 your First Amendment rights 27-37 as long as I am president no one is 27-41 going to stop you from practicing your 27-44 faith or from preaching what is in your 27-48 heart we want to hear him one of the 27-55 most grave and dire threats to religious 27-58 freedom in the world today is the threat 28-01 of terrorism and specifically it just 28-05 seems it's called radical Islamic 28-08 terrorism and we cannot allow this 28-15 terrorism and extremism to spread in our 28-19 country or to find sanctuary on our 28-23 shores or in our cities 28-33 we want to make sure that anyone who 28-36 seeks to join our country shares our 28-39 values and has the capacity to love our 28-44 people 28-45 [Applause] 29-01 thank you 29-04 together we will protect our families 29-07 our nations and our borders and yes by 29-11 the way for those that are curious we 29-13 will build the wall okay because we 29-19 understand that a country is more than 29-22 just its geography a nation is the sum Army Veteran Harry Miller shares his story from Battle of the Bulge   https://youtu.be/tDLcEomh474    On December 16, 1944, the Germans launched what is considered their last major offensive of World War II. Just shortly after the Allied force’s successfully invaded Normandy, France, the surprise attack from Hitler’s forces caught them off guard. The battle lasted until January 25, 1945. The United States suffered 19,000 fatalities and more than 89,000 casualties. In commemoration of the 72nd anniversary of this historic battle of courage and fortitude, we invite you to meet Army Veteran, Harry Miller. Harry served in the Army from 1944 – 1953 during World War II. He first served as a member of a tank crew, then transitioned to a messenger center clerk. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge. During the battle, the 1st Army Headquarters instructed the tank crews to go down to an ordnance depot and take whatever they needed for the tanks. “We had to take good parts off of one tank and put it on another. We finally got three tanks and a tank destroyer that would operate and run, and had a gun,” he said in an interview with VA. They took the three working tanks and sent them to their C Company. Those three tanks ended up taking out three German tanks, which ended up being members of the 1st SS Panzer Division Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler being, Hitler’s old bodyguards. After World War II, Harry went on to serve in Korea and Vietnam and served enlistments in both the Army and the Air Force. MILLER- Your life is dependent on everybody that's around you. 0-03 I mean, I know of cases where 0-06 a man would be talking to another man, 0-08 a round would come in and hit the one guy, 0-11 and the other guy not get a scratch, 0-13 and you depend on the guy next to you, 0-18 you depend on the people in back of you, and 0-21 you depend on everybody. 0-25 Everything was going fine until the 16th of 0-28 December, 1944 and the Germans broke 0-32 through, and at first nobody was too 0-35 concerned about it except for the fact 0-37 that we had only green divisions in the 0-39 Ardennes at that time. And so, they kept 0-44 pressing further and further. Well, 0-45 finally the first Army headquarters told 0-47 us to go down to this ordinance depot 0-51 and take anything we want. The only thing 0-54 that was there was old shot up tanks 0-56 and one with holes in them and worn-out 0-59 engines messed up. And we had to take 1-03 good parts of one tank and put it on another. 1-05 We finally got three tanks and a 1-07 tank destroyer that would operate, and 1-11 would run, and had a gun and it would fire. 1-14 So, we got those and they 1-17 gave them to our C-Company and they told them 1-20 to go down to the railroad station at 1-23 Stoumont, Belgium. To approach this train 1-26 station -- it sat here and there was a row 1-28 that came around a curve and right 1-31 down to the train station. 1-33 Well, our C-Company met them at this 1-36 curve, and the first American tank saw the 1-39 first German tank, and they fired at him 1-41 and the round -- 'course the guns and had not been 1-44 checked to see how accurate they were -- 1-46 but they fired and the round bounced, and 1-49 went into the German tank and knocked it out. 1-54 It was just ... just a lucky shot... knocked out the 1-57 first tank. Well, he reloaded -- the American 2-00 tank reloaded, and round got stuck so he 2-03 motioned for the next tank to come 2-04 around. When he came around the curve he 2-08 caught the second tank, and he fired on it, 2-10 and knocked it out. 2-11 Same thing happened on the next round. 2-14 The third tank was a tank destroyer which 2-16 has a 90 millimeter gun on rather than 2-18 75 or 76, so he hit this German tank and 2-22 knocked it out. Well, this was the First SS 2-25 Panzer Division, which was Hitler's old bodyguard. 2-29 And they were a tough bunch of so-and-sos. 2-33 And they were treated that way 2-35 for the rest of the war, by the way. By us.
