Nesse show receberá parceiros de longa data: o talentoso vocalista Pedro Quental e o grande gaitista Jefferson Gonçalves. Inte- grou a All Star Blues Band na Rock Street no Rock In Rio (2011).

In this episode, I am pleased to share the screen with one of the most impactful guitar players who has molded hundreds to love and excel in the craft. Meet Roger "Hurricane" Wilson; the more you get to know him, the more you understand why he has an accurate moniker for his fantastic career and how his passion and purpose continue in all these decades.  Key points covered in this episode: ✔️ Roger shares his journey of first picking up the guitar at age 9 and started learning note by note, falling hard for rock and roll, and he never looked back. ✔️ He shares one unforgettable remark from a young student that stuck to him. The critical thing was to "have some fun." With music and everything else in life, something more amazing comes out when we're letting ourselves enjoy our gifts. ✔️ From teaching, building the chops to learning to write the songs and figuring out where the history comes from, Roger had his share of being discouraged from"doing this musician thing." ✔️ Roger shares how the fame and rockstar lifestyle can go to a person's head many times, but he stood by the belief that humility is the best virtue and there's always going to be somebody better who can come along. "There's nothing wrong with being proud of what you do and everything; just don't let it get to your head."  ✔️ His moniker "Hurricane" was him getting in and out of joints and gigs fast as a passionate musician. "I love playing guitar, and I don't care if anybody is listening or not." ✔️ At age 68, there's more to be done by the Hurricane. "Think about what you're going to leave behind — that's more about it now than anything else."    Roger "Hurricane" Wilson has been playing guitar since 1963 and performing professionally since 1972 in his own band, as a solo artist at home, and on the road. From 1973 to 1985, he owned and operated the brick-and-mortar location of the Roger Wilson Guitar Studio in Atlanta, Georgia, which still operates online today. It was during this time that he taught hundreds of students basic and advanced guitar styles. He has also worked as a radio DJ, music journalist, and broadcaster. In addition, he has been a judge for the  International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tennessee, as well as being a 2015 Oklahoma Blues Hall of Fame Inductee. To date, he has released over 25 albums and toured over a million miles. Wilson started playing professionally in 1972, and he has jammed with Les Paul, Hubert Sumlin, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Albert Collins, Roy Buchanan, Savoy Brown, Magic Slim, Michael Burks, and Charlie Musselwhite. He has also shared the stage with B.B. King, Buddy Guy, Little Milton, John Mayall, Marcia Ball, Delbert McClinton, Taj Mahal, Leon Russell, and Edgar Winter.   Visit Roger's website: www.hurricanwilson.com   _____________________________________________________________________________ How to Connect with Dianne A. The new web site is rfpodcast.info. Linux in the Ham Shack is at lhspodcast.info. To contact Richard, use kb5jbv@gmail.com. 03:00 Donations The two podcasts are now financially separated, so please consider making a donation to the Resonant Frequency podcast to show your support. 04:46 Feedback Craig, KD8NJZ, posted a comment at the forums on the old site. He enjoys the podcast as well as The Practical Amateur Radio Podcast and Teen Radio Journey. Ray, KO4RB, also posted a comment on the web site to welcome Resonant Frequency back "on the air". BB, KC5PIY, writes to ask for help finding episodes 1-11 and 33. BB is the webmaster for Intertie, Inc., http://www.intertie.org, "a private amateur radio 501(c)(3) organization whose members have constructed and operate 23 remotely controlled base stations, (Remote Base), interconnected through full duplex links. These linked systems cover a large part of Texas and are an integral part of the larger Cactus Intertie System consisting of over 150 Remote Base sites and 20 affiliate clubs." There is some sort of problem with the feed to iTunes. We're working on it, but if you have any experiance with RSS feeds and Drupal, please contact Richard. If you're looking for old episodes, they are all available at rfpodcast.info under the "Podcast Archive" button near the top of the page. WW, KB9TMP, also writes to welcome back Resonant Frequency. He agrees that most of the repeaters in his area go quiet after about 6:00pm. The only busy repeater is a linked repeater www.w9win.org, and even it is not that busy. He has a simplex EchoLink node 7492, KB9TMP-L. David, N5DBK, writes to express his appreciation for the return of Resonant Frequency, and shares his thoughts about the 2-meter "wasteland" Richard talked about in Episode 41. 22:31 Song "Do You Mean It" by Magic Slim and the Teardrops, from the album "Raising The Bar". 25:57 If you're involved in the Section Manager election for the ARRL North Texas section, please contact Richard. 27:24 Feedback Gary, WR1U, also writes in about the lack of traffic on his local repeaters, and even simplex is quiet. Gary has started a Facebook www.facebook.com continued group for blind amateur radio operators. If you're on Facebook, look for it. Richard notes that part of the reason simplex VHF traffic has fallen off is due to uncoordinated repeaters, some D-Star, that have cropped up on the simplex portion of the band. Ray, KO4RB, writes again to welcome Resonant Frequency back. BB, KC5PIY, also signed up as a listener on the web site and had some problems with the process. If you're have trouble signing up, please contact Richard for assistance. Chris, NW5W, writes to say he is having problems subscribing to the podcast through iTunes.Ted welcomes RF back and usually agrees with Richard's opinions. 38:22 Song "Shame" by Magic Slim and the Teardrops, from the album "Raising The Bar". 42:16 Topic More thoughts about the VHF/UHF wasteland. Remember that we lost part of the 220MHz band partly because it was under-utilized by hams. So, get out there and use the repeaters! Resonant Frequency has taken on an advertiser to help defray costs. Look for a show about 2010 Field Day coming soon. If you're in the North Texas ARRL Section, contact Richard to discuss the current situation. You may hear Richard on D-Star, VHF or HF. Give him a call! And send us you feedback. Show Notes Song: 00:00 Intro: 00:54 Feedback: 01:23 Regarding episode 25 Thomas, WC5B, says he has changed his mind about what he recommends to new hams for a first radio, based on Richards comments. Ray, KO4RB, also talks about episode 25 and his thoughts on a handy-talk as a first radio. Jerry, KD0BIK, of The Practical Amateur Radio Podcast disagreed with some of Richard's comments about media coverage of hurricane damage (Ike and Gustav) along the gulf coast. Richard's comments were meant to be specific to his local media. Ray, KO4RB, also writes to thank Richard for the podcast, and extols their virtues as a tool for elmering new hams. He's also exploring Linux for use in his shack, experiments with digital modes, DStar, and more. He also made a donation! Rich, AB6TY, says he listens as he works in the welding shop, and enjoys the information and music. He loves CW and encourages others to give it a try, and recommends FISTS and SKCC. He reminds Richard that new hams should be aware of split-frequency operations while chasing DX. He asks "What is a 'lid'?" A lid is a bad operator. www.fists.orgwww.skccgroup.com Donations: 17:25 Rich AB6TY, Ray KO4RB made donations, which allowed the purchase of a microphone, and a new machine to record the podcast. Anyone can be an Elmer. It just takes the desire to share what you know with someone else. It does take patience. Talk up the hobby with other folks. Teach a class. Get involved with one of the scouting organizations. Wear a shirt that proclaims your interest in the hobby. Be available at a special event station to answer questions. In childhood, Williams and his half-brother James "Pookie" Young received encouragement and tutelage from their uncle, the blues guitarist, songwriter and recording artist J. B. Hutto, and by 1975 the half-siblings had formed the first version of the Blues Imperials. Since 1989, the band's lineup has been Williams (lead guitar and vocals), Michael Garrett (rhythm guitar and vocals), James Young (bass) and Kelly Littleton (drums). Living Blues magazine described the band as "Rough-and-ready South and West Side blues...Ed's swirling, snarling slide guitar work can be riveting, and The Imperials pound out blues-rock riffs and rhythms behind him as if they're overdosing on boogie juice." Guitar Player called the band "a snarling boogie-blues machine."   A decade later, Alligator Records offered them the chance to record a track, "Young Thing", for a compilation album, New Bluebloods (1987). Producer and label owner Bruce Iglauer encouraged them to record additional material, and they cut a full album's worth of material at that session, released as Roughhousin' (1986). They then appeared at music festivals and toured widely. Their second album, Chicken, Gravy & Biscuits, was released in 1989, and their third, What You See Is What You Get, in 1992. At this point the group disbanded. Williams issued two solo albums, Keep On Walking, on which he was joined by Dave Weld, a former member of the Blues Imperials, and Who's Been Talking (1998), pairing Williams with Willie Kent.   In 1999 the release of Get Wild marked the group's reunion. It was followed by Heads Up (2002), Rattleshake (2006), Full Tilt (2008) and Jump Start (2012).   Lil' Ed and the Blues Imperials have appeared multiple times at the Chicago Blues Festival and festivals and clubs around the world. In June 2008, Williams played on Magic Slim's album Midnight Blues. In June 2009, Williams was a guest on the radio quiz show Wait Wait... Don't Tell Me!, produced by Chicago Public Radio and National Public Radio, Lil' Ed and the Blues Imperials have been nominated for eight Blues Music Awards as Band of the Year and have won that award twice.

Thanks to the EPIPHANY Center for the Arts for the support htt://www.epiphanychi.com Visit www.chicagomusicrevealed.com#windyfest#chicagomusic#musicnews#themusicbusiness About John Primer In 1979, the great songwriter Willie Dixon persuaded him to join his band the Chicago Blues All Stars. John traveled the U.S., Mexico and Europe, trying on hats as a rhythm guitarist, lead slide player and powerful singer. Muddy Waters heard John play and six months later Muddy recruited him not only as his guitar player and bandleader, but also as an opening act. John stayed loyal to Muddy until his death in 1983. After Muddy’s death, John signed on with the legendary Magic Slim. For the next 14 years, he toured with Magic Slim & the Teardrops as bandleader and guitarist, culminating with the Teardrops being voted repeatedly the number one blues band in the world. This unstoppable blues band invented the "Chicago lump" blues sound we know and love today. In 1995, John ventured out on his own as a veteran bluesmanand released his solo major label debut, The Real Deal. Since that time he’s released or been recorded on over a dozen albums and toured extensively all over the world. A master storyteller and songwriter, his catalog of songs is endless. Some of the awards attached to him include: 2 Grammy nominations and 2 Living Legend honors as well as a Blues Music Award for Best Traditional Blues Artist from the National Blues Foundation and many more.
