Are you looking to save time, make money, and start winning with less risk? Then head to https://www.ovtlyr.com.Welcome to the wildest trading ride on YouTube – where education meets entertainment and every trade is a lesson in how retail traders can outsmart Wall Street. In this episode, we're diving headfirst into Bagholder Bingo – our brutally honest (and hilarious) way of exposing the red flags and wishful thinking that trap traders in bad stocks. Then, using a popular SoFi video as our case study, we break down common investor traps, like anchoring to hope, ignoring exit signals, and believing that “should” is a strategy (spoiler: it's not). We play along with the video, calling out every cliché like “It's just a paper loss,” “Analysts are clueless,” and “Wall Street doesn't get it.” If you've ever held a losing trade too long, this is your reality check—with love. This isn't just about mocking bad trades—it's about helping you recognize them before they happen. We show how to use the OVTLYR trend system, how to read order blocks, and how to avoid getting stuck in dead money trades. You'll see how a 161% gain can turn into a 51% loss—just by refusing to exit.We also break down the seven critical steps every trader should know when analyzing a stock:✅ Market Trend✅ Market Signal✅ Market Breadth✅ Stock Trend✅ Stock Signal✅ Fear & Greed Index✅ Order BlocksThese aren't just fancy terms—they're part of a bulletproof framework to help you trade faster, smarter, and with less risk.Plus, we celebrate one lucky viewer with a prize during the live Big Money Bagholder Bingo giveaway—and hint at what's coming next: OVTLYR University. That's right, we're giving away a full trading education (worth $84,000 according to others) for FREE. No fluff. No overpriced gurus. Two Quants and a Financial Planner | Bridging the Worlds of Investing and Financial Planning
In this episode, Matt and Jack dive into the timeless wisdom of Jack Schwager, renowned author of the Market Wizards series. Drawing from two insightful interviews with Schwager, they explore key lessons from some of the greatest traders he's interviewed, like Paul Tudor Jones and Steve Cohen, and unpack how these principles apply not only to trading but also to long-term investing and life. From risk management to overcoming failure, this episode blends Schwager's expertise with Jack and Matt's commentary, offering valuable takeaways for investors of all kinds. Main Topics Covered:Paul Tudor Jones' approach to avoiding complacency by evaluating your portfolio as if you started it today.Steve Cohen's strategy of cutting positions in half when uncertain to manage indecision effectively. The commonality of early failures among top traders and the resilience needed to learn from them.Debunking the myth that good money management can salvage a poor trading system—why edge is essential.Jack Schwager's personal realization that he wasn't suited for trading and how he found his strength in curating trading wisdom. The necessity of adapting trading strategies as markets evolve over time. How Schwager found discretionary trading less emotionally taxing than systematic approaches.Stanley Druckenmiller's bold position sizing under George Soros' influence and when to break the rules.Joel Greenblatt's lesson on waiting for the right opportunity rather than forcing trades.Simplifying risk management with straightforward rules that anyone can follow. The value investor's dilemma of buying more as prices drop versus cutting losses. How technology, like social media, has opened new trading strategies unavailable in the past.Position sizing as an extension of risk management, determined by acceptable loss levels.
In this episode, we're joined by John White, co-founder of Positive Equity, to unpack what it truly takes to succeed in the high-stakes world of prop trading. Whether you're a beginner exploring how to get into trading or an experienced retail trader looking to take your skills to the next level, this episode is packed with invaluable insights from someone who's been through every stage of the trading journey.John shares his incredible story of getting his start at Geneva Trading in Dublin straight out of college, with no prior trading experience. What drew him in was the promise of a career where your income matches your effort. Over time, John discovered that success in trading doesn't happen overnight. In fact, it takes years of dedication, learning, and adaptation. He explains that it took him at least two years before he felt confident in the markets and even longer before he saw meaningful financial rewards. This is a crucial reminder that prop trading is not a get-rich-quick scheme—it's a profession that demands grit, patience, and constant improvement. One of the most fascinating parts of our conversation is John's breakdown of the trading edge—how traders develop a strategy that works and why that edge can disappear as market conditions change or more people discover the same opportunity. With market volatility, evolving macro trends, and ever-smarter competition, maintaining a profitable strategy requires constant evolution. As John puts it, the market is always moving, and so must you.We also dive into what separates a successful prop trader from someone who eventually drops out. The key traits Positive Equity looks for are strong numeracy skills, competitiveness, and, above all, grit. Trading is full of setbacks. It's easy to enter the markets thinking it's as simple as buying and selling on your phone, but real success requires years of learning, managing your risk, and staying in the game long enough to learn the necessary lessons. As John explains, no one joins the trading floor as an instant success story, and no one wins without putting in the work. For those wondering about the difference between prop trading vs retail trading, John provides some powerful insights. While retail traders often juggle trading with full-time jobs and limited screen time, prop traders have the advantage of being immersed in the markets all day, working within teams, and using advanced tools and risk management systems. This environment provides professional traders with better cost structures, higher-quality research, and the ability to patiently wait for high-probability setups. Retail traders often feel pressure to act within the small windows of time they have, which can lead to suboptimal decision-making.John also shares valuable advice for aspiring traders looking to break into proprietary trading. His top tips? Start reading. Books like Market Wizards and Alpha Trader provide raw, honest insights into the real lives of professional traders, including their biggest mistakes and how they overcame them. He also recommends getting hands-on experience with simulator trading, taking it seriously, and building strong accountability, whether through a mentor, a peer, or even tracking your stats daily. Before risking real money, it's vital to spend the time mastering your process, understanding risk management, and learning how to handle losses. And for those looking for that “hot stock tip”? John keeps it real—Positive Equity's traders aren't focused on long-term stock...

On September 11th 2001 one of the greatest crimes in history took place. It was a day of insanity the likes of which the world had never seen before. Billions of people watched on in horror on their TV screens as planes flew into buildings. With said buildings then inexplicably collapsing into dust. It looked like a Hollywood movie and for many, it was in a very literal sense. Not because the event didn't happen, but because they felt it was scripted to happen. In the years the followed countless hours of analysis and revelation of method ensued, making it potentially the biggest wake up event in history. For many, after 9/11...the reality of good and evil was revealed. Never to be forgotten. For others, it would be some 20 years later when Covid, the next major event of this time, that they would finally realize the occult fiction they were living in. But of all the analysis that has been done on 9/11 there are still a few that rarely get heard. One such analysis is the flights themselves, from the technical perspective of a professional pilot. The official story is that 6 men armed with box cutters managed to hijack a commercial airliner and fly it with precision towards the WTC buildings, despite only having a few hours of flying light aircrafts under there belt. Is that even possible? Well today we speak to pilot Captain Dan Hanley, who runs 911pilots.org to discuss this very unique aspect of the event, along with a whole hose of other interesting facets relating to that day. Remote control planes? Controlled demolition? The involvement of Western allies? Dan talks us through all of it with a particular focus on his area of expertise, aviation. Then in part 2 Mike picks apart another little discussed aspect of the event, this time focusing on the financial anomalies that took place around September 11th. From insider trading on the London and New York stock exchanges in the week prior to 9/11 suggesting somebody knew the attacks were coming to a gold and diamond heist that took place literally as the buildings were ablaze post impact. Who knew about these attacks and profited from them and how were they able to get away with it? BIO: Jack D. Schwager is a recognized industry expert on futures and hedge funds and the author of the iconic Market Wizards series, in which he interviewed about 70 trading legends of our time.STORY: Jack stayed too long in a position where his short was the strongest and his long the weakest, even though he knew this wasn't the way to invest.LEARNING: Never stay in a position that violates something that you believe in. In every position, know where you'll get out before you get in. “A mistake is not a trade that loses money. It's a trade where you did something that violated whatever your approach is that makes money over time.”Jack Schwager Guest profileJack D. Schwager is a recognized industry expert on futures and hedge funds and the author of the iconic Market Wizards series in which he interviewed about 70 trading legends of our time. His most recent work in the series is Unknown Market Wizards, published in November 2020. Previous books in the series include Market Wizards (1989), The New Market Wizards (1992), Stock Market Wizards (2001), Hedge Fund Market Wizards (2012), and The Little Book of Market Wizards (2014). His other books include the revised edition of A Complete Guide to the Futures Markets (2017). Market Sense and Nonsense (2013), Getting Started in Technical Analysis (1999), and the three-volume Schwager on Futures series (1995-96).Worst investment everIn late 2008, the world was falling apart. Jack looked at certain things like the metals index, down about 80%. He thought China was still an emerging market growing rapidly and had every reason to continue growing. Jack believed that this economy would come back somewhat. So, Jack decided to buy ETF calls on China and the metals as far out as he could, assuming that the longer the time, the more likely they were to come back. He bought them deep out of the money, so they were pretty cheap.Several years later, Jack still had that position. Instead of just taking the profits, he hedged himself by selling the S&P Retail ETF (XRT) and the NASDAQ ETF. Jack put himself in a spread position where he was short NASDAQ and the retail index and long China. One day, China dropped 2%, and the XRT rose 2%. So Jack's long position went down 2%, and his short position went up 2%. So he got a 4% loss on position in a single day. Essentially, you want to be long the strongest and short the weakest. Jack's position was precisely the opposite. Instead of getting out of the position, he stayed, hoping it would return in a bit, but it didn't. Jack eventually got out but lost most of his profits.Lessons learnedEnsure your long position is the...

In 2015 we presented this story about Curtis Carroll, the Stock Market Wizard of San Quentin. Everyone in San Quentin called him Wall Street. He was teaching his fellow prisoners about stocks and had become an informal financial adviser to fellow inmates and correctional officers. After serving 27 years of a 54 years to life sentence in prison, Curtis Carroll, has been released on parole. We hear his story and talk to him about what's next. When Wall Street was put in prison almost three decades ago he couldn't read or write. One day he stumbled on the financial section of the newspaper thinking it was the sports section, which his cellmate used to read to him. An inmate asked him if he played the stocks. “I had never heard the word before,” Wall Street said. “He explained to me how it works and said, ‘This is where white people keep their money.' When he said that I said, ‘Whoa, I think I stumbled across something here.' ” Wall Street taught himself how to read and write beginning with candy wrappers and clothing logos. He pored over financial news: the Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Forbes. On the inside, Wall Street didn't have access to a computer or the Internet, so he called his family members to check the closing prices for the day and told them what to buy. He says business is like a soap opera — he's always trying to anticipate what will happen next. “I like to know what the CEO's doing. I like to know who's in trouble.” “I'm in prison, but I'm on just the same playing field as Warren Buffett,” Carroll says. “I can pick the exact same companies. I can't buy as many shares, but technically we're just the same.” You can find out more about Wall Street, his life and Financial Empowerment, Emotional Literacy Project at ProjectFeel.org. He's also on Instagram (@CurtisWallstreetCarroll) and Youtube (@WallStreetCarroll). The Kitchen Sisters Present is produced by The Kitchen Sisters (Nikki Silva & Davia Nelson) with Brandi Howell and Nathan Dalton. Wall Street's original story was mixed by Jim McKee at Earwax Studios. We are part of PRX's Radiotopia Network. This episode was produced in collaboration with Nancy Mullane and Life of the Law.
