Chad Auler has taken his McCombs MBA and reinvented the family business. Following in his father, Ed's, footsteps, Chad's love for the beverage industry grew from its beginnings at his parents Fall Creek winery into his own endeavors. After parlaying what he learned from his parents and coupling it with the business sense developed at McCombs, Chad ventured into the vodka business, co-founding Deep Eddy Vodka and eventually starting Milestone Brands, which represents a wide variety of beverage labels. First up, we return to the issue of dog control, as pressure builds for government intervention to avoid fatal dog attacks. Then, after being swamped with correspondence on the issue, the CEO of Water NZ is on the show to answer once and for all: should you run your tap before pouring yourself a nice glass of water?

In part two, when it comes to the government's changes to the Equal Pay Act, you can't go past these words: a 'flagrant and significant abuse of power.' That's a description of the process parliament followed, when the changes were passed under urgency. That prompted the formation of the People's Select Committee on Pay Equity, which did it's own consultation on the changes. Former Women's Affairs minister Steve Chadwick served on the committee and joins the Panel. Then, Craig Piner is the chief fire officer in Richmond, outside of Nelson, he's marking 27 years of volunteer service. The Panel salutes him and all volunteers everywhere.

John C. Goff graduated with his BBA from McCombs in 1977 and proves that a curious mind paired with keen instincts can change the world. Currently, John owns and operates the investment firm Goff Capital, which he founded in 2009, and is the vice chairman and CEO of Crescent Real Estate. Private equity is entering a period of adjustment after decades of expansion fueled by falling interest rates and abundant capital. That long-running tailwind reversed beginning in 2022, when interest rates rose sharply, disrupting deal activity, slowing exits, and bringing renewed attention to a long-standing vulnerability in private markets: liquidity. Industry reports have highlighted softer fundraising, longer holding periods, and growing pressure on pension funds and other long-term investors to generate cash distributions.
