We're back on the albums again! Part TWENTY SIX, 50-41. - That's right, we're heading into the top 50 albums (!) - This week features Johnny Cash, The Roots, Cocteau Twins, and seven other artists to continue this massive undertaking. Hmm, who else could there be? ;) - Not quite enough time for Poetry Time on Albums eps per usual. Here's the written version for you: - ***Today's Poetry Time*** ____________________________________________________ I Did Think, Let's Go About This Slowly I did think, let's go about this slowly. This is important. This should take some really deep thought. We should take small thoughtful steps. But, bless us, we didn't. -by Mary Oliver ____________________________________________________ To honor the top 100 albums (and my favorite poet), the poems for the rest of this series will all be coming from Mary Oliver :) - ONLY 40 ALBUMS TO GO!!! How is that possible. (I'm *really* going to miss this project once we're through.) Onward and upward we continue. - Oh it's a major endeavor, alright. I'm going to try to listen to at least 10 albums a week for the rest of the year! Yeah, I'm not joking. Media, art, and entertainment publication Paste Magazine came out with a list of the 300 best albums and we're going to go through them all! Well, I'm going to. And then we're going to talk about it! Great tracks, themes, history, info, related artists, cultural context, personal experiences- they're all going to play a part in these reviews. Totally stoked because I love music. (And a little intimidated! Because this is a lot to process) - If we keep up with an episode per week featuring 10 albums each, we'll just about finish by the end of 2024. - Take extra care of your mental health. Please stay safe on this long weekend! I'll see you back live on Monday, C :) -
Let's talk about it. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/sleep-deez/support
The cheese on the announcement post of this week's show on FB went something like where I said: "As Dave said, You take a MORTAL MAN" and while it was all in fun and cheesy, I could have done way better. But, I digress. As I was saying... On this week's episode, we are invading North Carolina with Mortal Man. Fresh off the release of their EP "Dawn of the Time Immortal" and it only being their 2nd ever release and the last was in 2012. They are still out making amazing quality music and should be heard by all. It doesn't matter who you are or who you think you are, trying to figure out the mysteries of God just isn't going to happen. We can all speculate all we want but no one really knows the truth. We've all been bamboolzed about so many things, because man is trying to figure out things and man is trying to conquer things. Truth is, man knows some things, but the true mysteries they don't know, and will never know, as a mortal being. That goes for all of us!!!
“CREATING” MORTAL MAN, Chapter 17 of Mysteries of Creation, Episode 696 Pages 160 to 168 A Variety of Theories There are various organizations throughout the world who have delved with particular interest and enthusiasm into the various theories of creation. Two of these are called “Creation Research Society” and “Bible Science Association.” Henry M. Morris, president of the former, has some interesting views on the mystery of man's creation: His creative acts consisted of calling the physical universe into existence, of calling animal life into existence, and of calling human life in His own image, into existence. The reason why He took six days instead of only the twinkling of an eye to do this was in order for His work week of six days to serve as a pattern for man's work week of six days. Real creation obviously requires creation with an “appearance of age.” Thus, Adam was made as a full-grown man. (Evolution and the Modern Christian, pp. 58, 650, 62) So, according to Morris, Adam was the only man who never had a boyhood, and genealogically speaking he never had a father either. Hopefully, this chapter will shed a little more light on the subject so more accurate conclusions can be drawn. Many different theories and ideas have been presented as to how mankind originated on this earth, such as– To continue reading this Chapter: https://www.tumblr.com/fundamentallymormon/733512854508093440/creating-mortal-man-chapter-17-of-mysteries-of To Read Mysteries of Creation: http://ogdenkraut.com/?page_id=157

5 fascinating and in depth Bible studies based on the life and time of Job. The biblical book of Job tells the story of a man named Job who is known for his righteousness. Job is suddenly subjected to a series of unimaginable tragedies and losses, including the death of his children, the destruction of his property, and the deterioration of his health. 3 friends come and speak with Job and together they grapple with the reason behind Job's suffering. In their discourse profound questions about the nature of human suffering, the role of God, and the appropriate response of a believer in times of distress are raised. Job's friends offer conventional explanations for his suffering, suggesting that he must have committed some grave sin. However, Job maintains his innocence and demands answers from God. Later, another man, Elihu comes on the scene. He challenges Job further. Finally God Himself speaks but does not give the participants the answer they might have expected. This divinely inspired book challenges simplistic notions of cause and effect, illustrating that suffering is not always a direct consequence of personal sin. Instead, it encourages believers to approach suffering with humility, honesty, and a willingness to wrestle with difficult questions. It elevates the position of God to His rightful place – as supreme and righteous. It highlights the futile nature of man. The story of Job provides a powerful lesson about the appropriate response to suffering, emphasising the importance of faith, trust, and perseverance in the face of adversity. Its thought-provoking narrative makes it an amazing book to study for those seeking a deeper understanding of the complexities of human suffering and the nature of faith. In this series, taken from Swanwick Bible School in the UK in May 2023, Bro Matt Davies of Mumbles takes listeners through an overview of this amazing and challenging book.
Moses asks that the people be taught to number their days in light of God's Perptuity, Man's mortality, God's Penalty and God's Mercy.

Nun nach zwei Wochen sind wir in der vierten Folge zum Thema "To Pimp A Butterfly" sind wir nun endlich am Ende angekommen.

With a busy 2020 that saw him release mega-hit ‘Mortal Man’ and launch his own food security organisation that raised north of R1 million, singer, songwriter and producer Jeremy Loops is ready to share new music with you: his single ‘Til I Found You’! On Saturday, 14 November 2020, the Kommetjie local who's enjoyed worldwide fame - and collaborated with the same people who write for Ed Sheeran and Milky Chance - joined Carl Wastie on the multiple award-winning Kfm Top 40 to discuss the new single - as well as the epic music video, which as it turns out, marks Jeremy’s directorial debut, something he’s very proud of. As always, inspiration was the name of the game as Jeremy Loops spoke of how the track came to be, how he learned to direct (spoiler: YouTube tutorials came in handy!) and how his work on creating sustainable food security was starting to bear some very real fruit. More than ever though, the song just made us excited about Summer! See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

A Prayer of Moses, the man of God.90 Lord, you have been our dwelling place in all generations.2 Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you had formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.3 You return man to dust and say, “Return, O children of man!”4 For a thousand years in your sight are but as yesterday when it is past, or as a watch in the night.5 You sweep them away as with a flood; they are like a dream, like grass that is renewed in the morning:6 in the morning it flourishes and is renewed; in the evening it fades and withers.7 For we are brought to an end by your anger; by your wrath we are dismayed.8 You have set our iniquities before you, our secret sins in the light of your presence.9 For all our days pass away under your wrath; we bring our years to an end like a sigh.10 The years of our life are seventy, or even by reason of strength eighty;yet their span is but toil and trouble; they are soon gone, and we fly away.11 Who considers the power of your anger, and your wrath according to the fear of you?12 So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom.13 Return, O Lord! How long? Have pity on your servants!14 Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.15 Make us glad for as many days as you have afflicted us, and for as many years as we have seen evil.16 Let your work be shown to your servants, and your glorious power to their children.17 Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us, and establish the work of our hands upon us; yes, establish the work of our hands!English Standard Version (ESV)The Holy Bible, English Standard Version. I have had a few conversations about the end of Kendrick Lamar's song "Mortal Man" from the album "To Pimp a Butterfly." As the final track on the album, Kendrick ends with an "interview" with Tupac Shakur. The interview focuses on black people fighting for their rights. I think he truly speaks truth to power on it, touching on the fact that the youth will be the ones to fight back. It makes me think about the role I play at this point of my life in the struggle for black power. I knew that this was just a clip of a longer interview so I went and searched for the original audio, found it and chopped up about 2 minutes of it. Check out the episode and leave some feedback. Black folks and allies, stay safe. I love y'all.

EZEKIEL 8-9:Terrible destruction is prophesied against Judah and Jerusalem. The trumpet will sound the battle call, but no one will get ready, because they are under God’s wrath. SONG OF SOLOMON 5:Yesterday the young man extolled the perfection of his bride. MATTHEW 25b:Yesterday in Matthew 25, we heard two parables that speak about being ready for Christ’s return. Something that is repeated in the parables on this topic is that, “outside there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” Jesus is by that teaching an important idea: That the punishment in hell will be conscious punishment (shown by the weeping), and it will be painful (as shown by the gnashing of teeth). GNT Translation notes:[As in other places, I modify the text from verse 31 on so that Jesus talks about himself in the first person instead of the third person. Jesus’ audience by now knew that he was referring to himself as “the Son of Man”. Note that in Ezekiel the Lord often calls Ezekiel in Hebrew “son of man.” If you are reading or listening to the GNT, those words are translated correctly as “Mortal Man.” God was using those words in their normal sense, as it is used in Daniel 7. But every time Jesus used that title He was using it in a special sense— in effect saying, “I am the One Daniel saw.”]
