Davon zeugen die Tagebuchaufzeichnungen »Zerzauste Tage. Ein Jahr der Wirklichkeiten«, die gefühlvolle Einblicke in das Weben und Streben einer Poetessa und Librettistin geben. Leitmotiv sind Reflexionen über das Schreiben und den Mut, der dazu gehört. Die Aufzeichnungen setzen am Pfingstsonntag 2018 ein und enden Pfingsten 2019. Die Tage, die dazwischen liegen, sind zerzaust, sie verbinden Alltagseindrücke ebenso wie existentielle Ereignisse – etwa das Abenteuer Kuba-Reise im Januar 2019 – und Erkenntnisse eines randvollen Daseins mit poetischer Sprache. So auch das große Ereignis ihres Lebens: die Begegnung mit Rolf Liebermann, der ihr nach der Lektüre ihres Romans »Freispruch für Medea« den Auftrag anvertraute, ein Libretto zu verfassen: Beginn einer erfolgreichen Arbeit als Librettistin. Ursula Haas hat deutsch-böhmische Wurzeln und wuchs in Düsseldorf und Bonn auf. Nach dem Studium der Germanistik, Geschichte und Pädagogik in Bonn und Freiburg lebt und arbeitet sie in München. Zu ihren Arbeiten gehören Lyrik, Erzählungen, Romane, Essays, Opern- und Lieder-Libretti sowie musikbegleitende Texte zu konzertanten Opernfassungen und Theaterstücke. Zuletzt erschien 2018 in der edition bodoni ihr Gedichte- und Poesieband »Wortfisch im grünen Aquarium«.  Ursula Haas: Ich bin im Krieg in Tschechien geboren, wuchs in NRW auf und lebe seit langem in München. Trotz Germanistikstudium schreibe ich seit gut 20 Jahren literarische Bücher. Mein Medea-Roman war der erste von einer Frau geschriebene! Er brachte mir auch insofern Glück, weil ich durch ihn zum Schreiben von Musiktexten (Libretti) kam. Daraus entstand z.B. die Medea-Oper mit der Musik von Rolf Liebermann, die 2001 in der Pariser Oper aufgeführt wurde. En este segundo RECAP de la Reunión Anual de la Sociedad Americana de Oncología Clínica, el Dr. Fabián Martínez conversa con la Dra. Mónica Meneses, oncóloga médica adscrita al Instituto Nacional de Ciencias Médicas y Nutrición Salvador Zubirán.Uno de los hitos más significativos de esta edición fue la presentación del estudio RASolute 302, un ensayo clínico evaluó la eficacia de daraxonrasib —un inhibidor de RAS en su conformación activa— frente al tratamiento con quimioterapia en pacientes con adenocarcinoma de páncreas previamente tratado.En el ámbito de la oncología torácica, se discutió el estudio LIBRETTO-432, que evaluó el uso de selpercatinib durante 3 años en el escenario adyuvante para pacientes con cáncer de pulmón de células no pequeñas (CPCNP) en etapas IB-III que albergan fusiones del gen RET. Por otra parte, en el escenario metastásico, el estudio HARMONi-6 evaluó la eficacia en primera línea de ivonescimab (un anticuerpo biespecífico dirigido contra VEGF y PD-1) combinado con quimioterapia estándar (carboplatino y paclitaxel) frente a tislelizumab (anti-PD-1) más quimioterapia en pacientes con CPCNP de histología epidermoide avanzado.La sesión abordó múltiples estrategias en cáncer colorrectal (CCR). En la enfermedad metastásica con mutación BRAF V600E—asociada a un peor pronóstico—, se presentaron los resultados de la cohorte 3 del estudio BREAKWATER, que evaluó la combinación de encorafenib (inhibidor de BRAF) y cetuximab (anti-EGFR) combinados con el esquema de quimioterapia FOLFIRI como tratamiento de primera línea, comparado con FOLFIRI más bevacizumab. Obwohl sie ihre Comedy-Programme «Reptil» und «Leben» auf Mundart bestreitet, empfindet Jane Mumford Schweizerdeutsch als Fremdsprache. Denn sie wuchs zwar in der Schweiz auf, aber mit der Erstsprache Englisch. Eine perfekte Ausgangslage für die Sprachsendung «Dini Mundart Schnabelweid»! Die Stimmung ist heiter bis ausgelassen in der Cantina del Vino in Solothurn, wo das Gespräch mit Mundartredaktor Markus Gasser anlässlich der Literaturtage vor Publikum aufgezeichnet wurde. An manchen Stellen fällt es schwer zu sagen, ob Jane Mumford gerade einen Ausschnitt aus einem ihrer Programme performt oder über ihre sprachliche Prägungen diskutiert. Denn die Übergänge zwischen Gespräch und Auftritt sind fliessend und das Bühnentier Jane Mumford macht aus jedem beliebigen Stichwort spontan eine kleine Nummer. Beim Thema Fremdwörter zum Beispiel: Das Wort «Portemonnaie» sei ja auch mal von aussen ins Deutsche gekommen, vorher gab es da nichts. Doch, widerspricht Markus Gasser: «Geldseckel». Das sagt man im Senslerdeutschen heute noch. Geldseckel! Das Wort komme ihr gerade recht. Klingt wie ein Schimpfwort. Und so geht es Schlag auf Schlag. Auch bei den an sich seriösen Themen wie zum Beispiel den kulturellen Unterschieden zwischen England und der Schweiz. Mumford erläutert sie am Beispiel der Erfindung des Tourismus in der Schweiz durch die Briten vor etwa 200 Jahren. Da traf Snobismus auf Bauernschläue mit Profit auf beiden Seiten. Weniger zu lachen gab ihr Blick zurück auf die Anfänge ihrer Bühnenkarriere, als Frauen im Comedy-Genre noch Exotinnen waren und als solche behandelt und nicht ernst genommen wurden. Das habe sich in den seither verflossenen 12 Jahren spürbar geändert. Wenn sich jetzt noch alle etwas mehr entspannen könnten in der neu gewonnenen Ebenbürtigkeit, dann wäre es schon fast gut auf und hinter den Comedybühnen. Prinz Tamino ist auf der Flucht vor einem schrecklichen Ungeheuer. Gott sei Dank wird er von drei mysteriösen Kriegerinnen und ihrer Anführerin, der Königin der Nacht, gerettet. Und diese hat auch gleich einen Auftrag für ihn: Er soll ihre Tochter Pamina aus den Händen des tyrannischen Herrschers Sarastro befreien. Unterstützung erhält er durch eine magische Flöte und den fröhlichen Vogelfänger Papageno, der sich nichts sehnlicher wünscht, als seine Papagena zu finden. Mit der Hilfe von drei Knaben gelangen sie in das Reich von Sarastro: Doch Oh Plottwist, oh Wunder: Dieser entpuppt sich als Vater von Pamina und weiser König eines aufgeklärten Geheimbundes. Er hält Pamina nur bei sich, um zu verhindern, dass die Königin der Nacht die ganze Welt vernichten kann. Tamino, der sich mittlerweile natürlich unsterblich in Pamina verliebt hat, soll beweisen, dass er würdig ist, diese zu heiraten und mit ihr zusammen die Nachfolge Sarastro anzutreten. Drei Prüfungen warten auf ihn und seinen Gefährten Papageno. Aber die Königin der Nacht ruht nicht in ihrem Groll und bedroht mit der Unterstützung des verräterischen Dieners Monastros das junge Glück und das Schicksal der Welt. Die Zauberflöte, Libretto Emanuel Schikaneder, Musik Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, einer der großen Klassiker der Operngeschichte aus dem Jahr 1791, hier inszeniert von Ingmar Bergman 1975 auf schwedisch und mit ein paar kleinen - aber feinen - Eigenheiten. Auch wenn er sich inhaltlich sehr nah am Original orientiert, öffnet Bergman das Singspiel auf gleich mehrfache Weise: Richtung Theaterpublikum, dessen Reaktionen wir als Zuschauer beiwohnen dürfen, Richtung Film, indem er mit einer ausgeklügelten Kameraarbeit und so manchen cineastischen Special Effects arbeitet. Und nicht zuletzt Richtung Backstage, indem er die Mechanismen des Theaters transparent macht und die Besetzung in ihrer Pause beobachtet. Und so entsteht eine irgendwie traditionelle, irgendwie auch sehr moderne Inszenierung und einer meiner liebsten Filme von der schwedischen Regielegende, obwohl er als TV-Produktion und Mozart-Exegese aus seinem sonstigen Werk heraussticht. Johannes, ich weiß, du bist kein großer Bergman-Fan. Wolfgang Amadè kannst du aber durchaus was abgewinnen. Und dass du die Zauberflöte magst, hast du letzte Woche ja auch schon durchblicken lassen. Also dann… hinein ins Vergnügen mit der Frage: Was zur Hölle ist das für ein absurdes, inkonsistentes, von offenen Fragen durchlöchertes Libretto?

Der Wiener Opernsommer hatzum zweiten mal zugeschlagen. Joji Hattori spielt diesmal am Heumarkt GiuseppeVerdis „La Traviata“. Das konnte sich unser Opernfan Richard Schmitz nichtentgehen lassen.   Am riesigen Platz des Wiener Eislaufvereins stehen vor dem Konzerthaus mehrere Freitreppen. Ein imposantesBühnenbild von Manfred Waba! Intendant Joji Hattori konnte offenbar vielSponsoren überzeugen, dass sich dieser Platz nicht nur für Freistilringer,Basketball und andere Sportarten eignet, sondern auch für anspruchsvolle Oper.Da er für nächstes Jahr „Carmen“ ankündigt, dürfte niemand mit einem baldigenBeginn der Bauarbeiten rechnen. Zumindest nächstes Jahr ist das Weltkulturerbeungefährdet. Sogar Giuseppe Verdi hat sich eingefunden, um uns die Handlung zuerklären. Karl Markovics als Verdi ist der verbindende Einfall der Regie vonDominik am Zehnhoff-Söns. Ansonsten läuft der Abend getreu dem Libretto ab.Auch die Kostüme entsprechen den Vorgaben. Wer geschickt mit dem handy umging,konnte auch eine APP mit einem Untertitel-system herunterladen. Das wäre garnicht notwendig, weil durchaus deklamatorisch gesungen wurde. Cristina Pasaroiusang die Violetta Valerie mit deutlich verstärkter Stimme. Die leistungsstarkeTonanlage könnte man durchaus sparsamer einsetzen. Liparit Avetysian hatte alsAlfredo durchaus italienisches Timbre zur Verfügung. Thomas Weinhappel singtbereits Telramund und Wotan, nur kurz konnte er sein Legato zeigen. Dasentscheidende Gespräch mit Violetta erinnerte in der Verstärkung eher an Wotanund Brünhilde. Die übrigen Solisten waren gut und verlässlich unterwegs. JojiHattori konnte dem Wiener Kammerorchester und dem Philharmonia-Chor wenigItalianità entlocken. Es war klar, dass diesestimmgewaltige Violetta nicht an Schwindsucht sterben kann. Da war es nurlogisch, dass sie Verdi persönlich in den Himmel geleitet. Das Publikum war am Ende zufriedenaber beim Szenenapplaus nicht sehr ausdauernd, aber immerhin diszipliniert. Manmusste ja wegen der Lärmbelästigung der Nachbarn vor 23 Uhr schließen.Bürgermeister Ludwig hielt bis zum Ende durch. Ein gelungenes Beispiel füropen-air Sommertheater wie anno dazumal. Wertnote: 7,8

Tradition und Moderne begegnen und vereinigen sich hier.Ursula Haas wechselt in ihren Gedichten zwischen längst vergangenen Bildungslandschaften und unserer Jetzt-Zeit. Genauso rasch wechselt sie die Orte: von Prag im Winter zum Erntedank auf der Insel Reichenau, von einem Sommertag auf Kap Corse zum Herbst in Berchtesgaden. „Die Zeit der Verpuppung ist lang“, so heißt es in einem ihrer Gedichte, aber dafür entschädigt der Sommerflug, bei dem „das Blau des Himmels/zum Garten Eden wird.“Dieser Gedichtband ist eine Entdeckung für alle Freunde und Kenner der zeitgenössischen Lyrik. Ursula Haas wurde in der ehemaligen Tschechoslowakei in Aussig a.d. Elbe (Usti nad Labem) geboren. Sie wuchs in Düsseldorf und Bonn auf und studierte Geschichte, Germanistik und Pädagogik in Bonn und Freiburg. Nach ihrer Referendarzeit in München trat sie nicht in den Schuldienst, sondern gab Privatunterricht und begann zu schreiben. Verheiratet mit dem Chirurgen Werner Haas, bekam sie eine Tochter und einen Sohn. Inzwischen alleinstehend, lebt und arbeitet Ursula Haas nach wie vor in München als freie Schriftstellerin in den Genres Lyrik, Roman, Erzählung, Libretto, Theaterstück und Essay. Ihre Gedichte sind in zahlreiche Sprachen übersetzt."Ich bin im Krieg in Tschechien geboren, wuchs in NRW auf und lebe seit langem in München. Trotz Germanistikstudium schreibe ich seit gut 20 Jahren literarische Bücher. Mein Medea-Roman war der erste von einer Frau geschriebene! Et ce à travers leur fabrication et surtout les images qui les illustrent. 

Albert Einstein, Richard Strauss, Gerhart Hauptmann, Max Liebermann, George Bernard Shaw – sie alle betreten die Bühne in Julia Kerrs Oper „Der Chronoplan“. Am 24. Januar feiert das bereits 1932 komponierte Werk am Staatstheater Mainz endlich seine Uraufführung. Zu verdanken ist dies auch dem Arrangeur Norbert Biermann, der die Oper auf ein Libretto von Alfred Kerr rekonstruiert hat. Der Name der Rose- Umberto Ecos Erfolgsroman aus dem Jahr 1980 ist bereits verfilmt und als Musical vertont worden- seit gestern gibt es auch eine neue Oper "Il nome della rosa". Die Mailänder Scala hat sie zusammen mit der Opéra de Paris in Auftrag gegeben bei Francesco Filidei, Jahrgang 1973 und einer der wichtigsten italienischen Zeitgenossen. Zusammen mit Stefano Busellato hat er auch das Libretto für das knapp dreistündige Werk aus dem historischen Kriminalroman destilliert. Mit Regisseur Damiano Michieletto, und dem neue Musik-Spezialisten Ingo Metzmacher am Dirigentenpult und einer internationalen Sängerbesetzung war ein namhaftes Team an der Uraufführung beteiligt- Franziska Stürz saß im Publikum und ist jetzt im Studio.

Dass Friedrich Nietzsche Georges Bizets Oper Carmen einmal als beste Oper aller Zeiten pries, hatte vor allem einen sehr persönlichen Grund: Er wollte seinem einstigen Hausgott und nunmehrigen Lieblingsfeind Richard Wagner einen mitgeben. Das breite Publikum indes kam in den vergangenen 150 Jahren per Abstimmung mit den Füßen zu einem durchaus ähnlichen Ergebnis und katapultierte Carmen bis heute weit an die Spitze der meistgespielten Werke des Opernrepertoires. Kein Wunder, dass gleich mehrere Hamburger Zeitungen auch schon vor einhundert Jahren zum 50. Jahrestag der Pariser Uraufführung vom 3. März 1875 an diese erinnerten. Die Harburger Anzeigen und Nachrichten hatten dafür einen besonders prominenten Zeitzeugen befragt, den ersten Interpreten der männlichen Hauptrolle des Don José. In heutigen Augen problematische misogyne Züge und antiziganistische Klischees im Libretto, wie sie jüngst etwa das Berliner Maxim-Gorki-Theater in seiner Neuinszenierung in den Mittelpunkt rückte, spielen in dessen Rückblick auf die Probenzeit erwartungsgemäß keine Rolle; vielmehr geht es um die moralische Brisanz, die Carmen für die Zeitgenossen besaß. Deutschland ist dabei, den Krieg zu verlieren, als Richard Strauss Oper "Die Liebe der Danae" uraufgeführt werden soll. Zugrunde liegt dem Stück ein Libretto, das an einen Flickenteppich erinnert: Zwei Mythen wurden verwoben, von Hugo von Hoffmannstahl stammt die Geschichte und vier Librettisten hatten dann noch ihre klebrigen Finger im Spiel. Es kommt jedoch nur zur Generalprobe der Danae bei den Salzburger Festspielen. Das versuchte Hitlerattentat und die Erklärung des "totalen Krieges" verhindern eine Uraufführung, die erst 1952 stattfinden wird. Der Krieg: bekanntermaßen verloren und Strauss bereits tot. Die Bayerische Staatsoper zeigt "Die Liebe der Danae" - mit Stars wie dem österreichischen Tenor Andreas Schager oder dem nicht nur in München bestens bekannten Regisseur Claus Guth. Tobias Picker, deemed “our finest composer for the lyric stage” by The Wall Street Journal, joins Devin Patrick Hughes on One Symphony. Tobias is a prolific composer in all genres. He has composed six operas, commissioned by Dallas Opera, LA Opera, Metropolitan Opera, San Francisco Opera, Santa Fe Opera, and Opera Theatre St. Louis. Tobias Picker has composed numerous symphonic works including three symphonies, concertos for violin, viola, cello, and oboe, as well as four piano concertos and a ballet. Tracy K. Smith is a Pulitzer prize winning poet, professor and librettist who served as the U.S. Poet Laureate from 2017-2019. She's published five poetry collections, two librettos and one memoir-manifesto. She is also a Professor of English and African and African American Studies at Harvard. Adbry, which inhibits IL-13, was previously approved for adults in December 2021 and for pediatric patients aged 12 and older in December 2023. The approval was granted to LEO Pharma Inc.  Augtyro for NTRK Tumors The FDA has approved repotrectinib (Augtyro) for treating solid tumors with NTRK gene fusions in patients aged 12 and older, based on Phase 1/2 trials showing significant response rates in both TKI-naïve and previously treated patients. The approval was granted to Bristol Myers Squibb, with additional clinical data required to confirm safety and efficacy. Donanemab for Alzheimer's FDA advisors unanimously recommended the approval of donanemab for Alzheimer's disease, emphasizing its efficacy in slowing early-stage disease and manageable risks. Donanemab, targeting amyloid plaques, offers potential advantages over Leqembi with monthly infusions. The FDA decision is expected soon. Iqirvo for Primary Biliary Cholangitis The FDA granted accelerated approval to elafibranor (Iqirvo) for primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) to be used with ursodeoxycholic acid or as monotherapy. Elafibranor targets PPAR-α and PPAR-δ, with Phase 2 trials showing significant biochemical responses. The approval was granted to GENFIT and Ipsen.  Retevmo in Thyroid Cancer The FDA granted full approval to selpercatinib (Retevmo) for advanced or metastatic RET fusion–positive thyroid cancer in patients aged 2 years and older, based on the LIBRETTO-001 trial showing high response rates. The approval was granted to Eli Lilly and Company. OTC Continuous Glucose Monitors The FDA approved Abbott Laboratories' continuous glucose monitoring systems, Libre Rio and Lingo, for over-the-counter use. Libre Rio is for Type 2 diabetes patients not on insulin, while Lingo targets non-diabetic consumers for health improvement. This weekend, PAC NYC presents “Number Our Days: A Photographic Oratorio.” With music by Luna Pearl Woolf, a Concept and Libretto by David Van Taylor, “Number Our Days” is based on Jamie Livingston's 18 year long “Photo Of the Day” project.
