Jason shares his journey from small-town BMX kid and engineer to founding the Box Elder Composite team and now leading a league of 7,400+ student-athletes. The conversation covers the unique culture of NICA—its focus on inclusivity, personal growth, and “meeting kids where they're at”—along with favorite race and coaching memories, mental health wins, and what makes riding bikes such a powerful lifelong activity. They also discuss Utah's outsized role in the national NICA landscape, trail access and community impact, new ideas like adventure/“party” laps and pit-zone games to bring more fun to race days, and big upcoming events including Western Regionals and the World Cup at Soldier Hollow, where NICA riders may get a taste of the world stage.
In this reflective episode, Brian opens up a conversation he's been turning over for a while now. Occam's razor, the principle he quotes on this show more than any other, and why it keeps walking back into the room every time he tries to make sense of a Sasquatch report, a piece of evidence, or a guest's wilder claim. He walks through what the principle actually says versus the bumper sticker version most people learn, why simple isn't really the right word for what Occam was getting at, and how a good razor cuts both ways for the lazy skeptic and the eager believer alike.Brian also gets honest, on the record, about his disagreement with Bill Munns on the new Capturing Bigfoot documentary and the forty second clip the filmmakers say was shot on 1966 film stock. With genuine respect for Bill and the work he's done, Brian walks through why the simplest explanation for that footage isn't the one Bill is offering, why he thinks Bill is working backward from a conclusion rather than forward from the evidence, and why the honest position is to keep both possibilities on the table while the rest of the story unfolds. From the witness record and dermal ridges to the Sierra Sounds, from his own 2024 sighting in Washington State to the absence of a body that remains the field's central problem, this episode lays out the biological case clearly and then turns to the part that's been on his mind lately. The shift among some of his guests toward an interdimensional, telepathic, paranormal Sasquatch, and the slippery slope of explaining one mystery by stacking another mystery on top of it.Brian closes with a hard look at citizen science. The documentation discipline he learned in the academy, the role of independent labs, the value of negative results, the trap of confirmation bias, and the patient work that eventually moved meteorites and the giant squid from myth to accepted science.Email BrianGet Our FREE NewsletterGet Brian's Books Leave Us A VoicemailVisit Our WebsiteBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/sasquatch-odyssey--4839697/support.Have you had a Bigfoot encounter, Sasquatch sighting, Dogman experience, or other cryptid or paranormal encounter? This is another installment of The Bigfoot Inquiry with Brian and Dr. Hogan Sherrow, and the guys open with the recent follow-up email from Bill Munns regarding the Patterson-Gimlin Film and the upcoming Capturing Bigfoot documentary before moving on to other topics.Brian narrated Bill's open letter in full on a recent Sasquatch Odyssey episode, and on this episode he and Hogan break down what Bill actually said and what it might mean. Bill doubles down on his position that the PGF is one hundred percent authentic, but in doing so he may have painted himself into a corner. If the forty-second clip in the new documentary turns out to look identical to Patty, then by Bill's own reasoning that clip has to be a man in a suit, which raises serious questions about the original film.Brian also pushes back on Bill's claim that the new clip was shot on 1966 Kodak film stock but possibly not used until 1970 or later, arguing that filmmakers are creatures of habit who use their film within a reasonable window of purchase.Hogan brings the scientific perspective and pushes back on Bill's use of absolute language, explaining that science does not prove anything to one hundred percent and that any such claim is a methodological red flag.He also takes issue with the assumption-based reasoning around the color of the foot, the angle of the step, and the supposed impossibility of anyone obtaining a Bigfoot suit. Both guys remind listeners that two things can be true at once, that the PGF could be a hoax and Bigfoot could still exist, and that everyone should reserve final judgment until they can see Capturing Bigfoot for themselves. From there the conversation moves to Sasquatch Ontario and Mike Patterson's announcement of a new book called The Invisible Giant, which Brian considers part of one of the longest-running hoaxes in the Bigfoot world. That leads into a broader discussion of the growing divide in the Bigfoot community, which Hogan compares to the ongoing chimpanzee civil war at the Ngogo community in Uganda, the largest chimp group ever documented.Hogan shares firsthand stories of being caught in the middle of chimp battles during his field research and explains how the loss of key social connectors can fracture a group, drawing a clear parallel to what is happening between the flesh-and-blood camp and the high-strangeness camp in Bigfoot research.Brian then previews his upcoming interview with David Bacara of the Expedition Bigfoot Museum in Blue Ridge, Georgia, and the guys discuss David's skepticism about Gigantopithecus and his belief that Sasquatch may be controlled by some other force. Hogan walks through the actual evidence for Gigantopithecus, including the Y-five dental pattern that identifies ape molars and the discovery of the original teeth being sold as dragon teeth in Chinese apothecary shops. The episode also covers Brian's edge theory for why Bigfoot sightings happen in suburban areas, the importance of Occam's razor when evaluating high-strangeness reports, and Hogan's closing public service announcement on the difference between territories and home ranges in primates.Email BrianGet Our FREE NewsletterGet Brian's Books Leave Us A VoicemailVisit Our WebsiteBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/sasquatch-odyssey--4839697/support.Have you had a Bigfoot encounter, Sasquatch sighting, Dogman experience, or other cryptid or paranormal encounter? In this episode, Brian shares a detailed "Open Letter" from Bill Munns, one of the foremost analysts of the Patterson-Gimlin Film, responding to the controversy surrounding the new documentary "Capturing Bigfoot." Bill was interviewed on the show weeks ago about his role in the documentary, where he physically inspected the newly discovered forty-second film clip that many are calling a dress rehearsal for the PGF.Eric Palacios from the Hairy Man Road YouTube channel was also interviewed after seeing the documentary at the South by Southwest film festival in March 2026. The two men saw the same clip and came away with fundamentally different conclusions. Bill says it's a replica filmed after the PGF. Eric says he saw Patty. In his email, Bill lays out a thorough case for why the documentary fails to meet scientific or evidentiary standards, challenges the dating of the new footage, and argues the replica hypothesis is far more logical than the rehearsal narrative the filmmakers are pushing. After reading the email in full, Brian offers his own take on how two credible people can see the same evidence and reach opposite conclusions, addresses the role that vested interests play in shaping interpretation, and makes the case that the real question isn't when the clip was filmed but what it actually shows.Brian also shares a conversation with his Bigfoot Inquiry Podcast co-host Dr. Hogan Sherrow that reshaped how he thinks about the difference between seeking truth and seeking facts.Email BrianGet Our FREE NewsletterGet Brian's Books Leave Us A VoicemailVisit Our WebsiteBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/sasquatch-odyssey--4839697/support.Have you had a Bigfoot encounter, Sasquatch sighting, Dogman experience, or other cryptid or paranormal encounter? In this episode, Brian sits down with makeup and special-effects artist, filmmaker, and longtime Patterson–Gimlin film researcher Bill Munns for a deep discussion about the enduring controversy surrounding the PGF. Drawing on decades of study and an archive of numerous scanned film copies, Munns explains how he works to separate authentic image details from artifacts introduced through duplication and degradation over time.Munns shares that one of the key details that first compelled him to take the film seriously was the smooth continuity visible along the figure's back and neck, something he argues would have been extraordinarily difficult, if not impossible, to achieve with 1967-era suit technology. That observation became the starting point for his long-running technical analysis of the footage. The conversation also explores the documentary Capturing Bigfoot and the heavily debated approximately 40 second clip that appears to recreate action associated with the Patterson–Gimlin film. After personally examining the physical film, Munns says he identified it as a Kodachrome II camera original bearing a 1966 manufacture date code and believes it was likely shot on a Kodak K-100.At the same time, he emphasizes that a date code alone does not establish when the footage was actually filmed.Based on his analysis, Munns concludes that the clip is best understood as an after-the-fact replica rather than a pre-PGF rehearsal. He points to specific visual details, including what he describes as unnaturally white feet, as evidence supporting that conclusion.Rather than asking audiences to accept one interpretation outright, he encourages careful, critical comparison of both possibilities and argues that the most important question is not chain of custody, but how the footage itself compares to the original PGF.Munns also discusses his belief that separate “ape suit” footage may have existed, which could help explain long-circulating stories about a burned suit without necessarily proving that the Patterson–Gimlin film itself was a hoax. He closes by revealing that he is currently writing a follow-up book that will further address the controversy and expand on his findings.Get Bill's Book When Roger Met Patty Email BrianGet Our FREE NewsletterGet Brian's Books Leave Us A VoicemailVisit Our WebsiteBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/sasquatch-odyssey--4839697/support.Have you had a Bigfoot encounter, Sasquatch sighting, Dogman experience, or other cryptid or paranormal encounter? It's been a while since I've written a newsletter entry, but something happened on March 12, 2026 that demanded a response. A new documentary called Capturing Bigfoot, directed by Marq Evans, premiered at the South by Southwest Film Festival in Austin, Texas, and the shockwaves have been reverberating through the Bigfoot community ever since. The film presents newly discovered sixteen-millimeter Kodachrome footage allegedly shot in 1966, a full year before the famous Patterson-Gimlin Film was recorded at Bluff Creek, California. According to the documentary, Clint Patterson, the youngest son of Roger Patterson, has gone on camera to reveal what he says is the truth about the most famous piece of Bigfoot footage ever captured. The claims are significant, the evidence appears to be serious, and the community is divided in ways it hasn't been in decades. In this special episode, I read the latest edition of my free newsletter in its entirety, walking listeners through everything that's been reported about the documentary, the newly discovered footage, and the firestorm of reaction that has followed.I share details from my own direct conversations with key figures in the Bigfoot research community, including Emmy-winning filmmaker and MonsterQuest creator Doug Hajicek, who offers a compelling alternative interpretation of the footage, and Bill Munns, widely regarded as the leading authority on the Patterson-Gimlin Film, who has physically examined the so-called smoking gun clip and reached a very different conclusion than the one the documentary is selling. I also discuss Eric Palacios's reaction after attending a screening of the film, my outreach to director Marq Evans for a potential interview and advance screening, and my ongoing efforts to secure a statement from Bob Gimlin himself. Most importantly, I make the case I've been making for years — one that matters now more than ever. The Patterson-Gimlin Film can be fake and Sasquatch can still be real. Drawing on nearly forty years of personal research, sixteen years of law enforcement experience, my own encounters including a sighting from approximately ten feet away in Washington State in 2024 while filming the My Bigfoot Life documentary, and hundreds of conversations with credible eyewitnesses from across the continent, I argue that the Sasquatch phenomenon has never depended on a single piece of film and never should have.I encourage listeners to withhold judgment until they've examined the evidence for themselves and to resist the temptation to let someone else — filmmaker, skeptic, or true believer — tell them what to think. If you're not already subscribed to the Paranormal World Productions newsletter, now is the time. Gene and cohost Tim Swartz present film makeup artist and creature maker William Munns. He has been fascinated all his life with cryptozoology, and in particular, Bigfoot, because of his work in films and with real apes. The most famous single piece of filmed material purported to be a Bigfoot is the Patterson-Gimlin film taken in 1967, and in the last 40 years, there has been an ongoing and still unresolved debate about whether the female figure seen in the film is a real primate of unknown species, or an ordinary human being wearing a fur suit. William put his research into a 2014 book called "When Roger Met Patty," which details his analysis of the Patterson-Gimlin Bigfoot film, addressing the question of hoax or fraud from the perspective of a professional makeup and creature effects designer, as well as the perspective of a vintage filmmaker. He started as a movie makeup artist when he was 20, and quickly gravitated toward the "creature" side of the field, doing prosthetics, masks, and makeup effects. William perfected doing film makeup and creatures were exacting in their nature, the kind of skills necessary for very realistic figures. He chose to expand his artistic range by applying the ultra-realistic techniques of film prosthetic work to the scientific discipline of reconstructing prehistoric creatures from fossil records, as well as exploring a new form of wildlife art, whereby living creatures were recreated with the highest museum taxidermy quality appearance, but without having to rely upon the skin, hide, fur or other remains of a dead animal to make the figure.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-paracast-the-gold-standard-of-paranormal-radio--6203433/support.

In this episode, we sit down with James Munns, a seasoned firefighter who tells the incredible story of saving the life of a woman who nearly drowned in her car and many others as well. James's humility and reluctance to accept the title of "hero" provide a deep insight into the challenges faced by those in his line of work. Beyond the heroic deeds, this episode delves into the often-overlooked aspects of being a firefighter: the loneliness, the stress, and the emotional toll. James opens up about the difficulties first responders face daily and shares his thoughts on stress and stress tolerance. We also focus on the importance of vulnerability and the courage it takes to change oneself, especially in a profession where asking for help can be stigmatized. Join us as we discuss how embracing vulnerability and seeking support can build stronger connections among first responders and improve overall mental health. James's story is a powerful reminder that true courage lies not just in saving others, but in taking steps to care for oneself. Robert Munns, CEO of sailing charity Oceans of Hope UK, left the graft and glamour of West End theatre for a life on the seas. He'd not long had a shock diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis when a chance encounter in a harbour changed the course of his future. Rob and Lisa talk West End theatre's transformation, working with Madonna, happy days sailing the Med, the ‘raw shock' of his diagnosis, the physical and emotional enormity of sailing across the Pacific (with or without MS!), committing to life again, watching other MS sufferers transform with sailing and how making conscious decisions (along with the more ‘floaty' subconscious ones) can help us through even the most challenging of times. Startups have unique needs and challenges. Cloud computing platforms have made getting technical projects up and running far easier than they used to be, but there's still a place for help and advice. This week we talk with Chris Munns about AWS's startup program.
When you visit the Oceans of Hope U.K. website, it reads, "Oceans of Hope is for people with MS, led by people with MS." It goes on to say, "Our aim is to offer people from all over the world the opportunity to experience sailing as a way of learning new skills and restoring the self-confidence which can be stolen by MS." The folks at Oceans of Hope U.K. can make that claim with high confidence. My guest today is the founder of Oceans of Hope U.K., Robert Munns, who lives with MS himself. Robert had what he describes as a life-changing experience while serving as a member of the crew on what turned out to be an unforgettable sailing adventure. Robert's story is one you won't want to miss. Today, Oceans of Hope U.K. offers anyone living with MS the opportunity to experience that same personal transformation that Robert experienced. When you review your MRI scans with your neurologist, the focus is on those white matter lesions that characterize MS. However, study results announced at the 2023 ACTRIMS Forum show that white matter lesions are not the cause of severe MS disability. We're breaking down this game-changing research. And speaking of game changers, we're sharing the details of a small, portable MRI device that can effectively image MS lesions. We have a lot to talk about! Are you ready for RealTalk MS??! This is the fifth episode of our Move Your Mind limited construction series. We will be interviewing a range of people from the industry and having conversations around the state of mental health in the industry.Australia loses one construction worker every two days to suicide & more than 20% of the construction industry are shown to have had a mental health condition. These figures are made even more compelling as it is an industry that employs 10% of the working population. We feel this podcast will play an important role in creating conversations and awareness. MATES is a charity established in 2008 to reduce the high level of suicide among Australian construction workers. MATES provides suicide prevention through community development programs on sites, and by supporting workers in need through case management and a 24/7 help line. We serve the construction industry in Queensland and Northern Territory, New South Wales, South Australia and Western Australia, the Energy industry in Queensland and New South Wales, and nationally to the Mining industry. MATES was established in response to a major report on suicide (the ‘AISRAP Report') within the Queensland Commercial Building and Construction Industry. This report found that suicide rates in the industry were higher than the Australian average for men, and that youth suicide within the industry could be as much as 2.38 times more common than among other young Australian men.You can learn more about Mates in Construction here: https://mates.org.au/...Thanks for listening!
