An update on LaunchPad call 1 and news about the next call. TRANSCRIPT And I'm so glad you're putting this together because we need this for our community, we need this for bonding, we need this for learning. And I'm so proud of you, the three of you, for putting this event together because I know how hard it is. Welcome back to the UpLift Live podcast. My name is John Espirian and I'm one of the Mission Control team for the UpLift Live conference which is the first of its type conference in the UK in Birmingham in March 2024. In the buildup to the event, we decided to create a set of Zoom calls so that attendees of the conference could get to know each other. The first of these so-called "LaunchPad" calls happened at the end of October and it was a great success. We had almost 40 of the conference attendees showing up, including some of our speakers on the big day. The whole point of the LaunchPad calls is to break the ice ahead of time so that when we arrive in Birmingham, many of us will already know each other and there won't be any need for that awkward, stuttering bit that you get at the start of most networking events. Here's a quick snippet of the discussion from LaunchPad call 1, and you're now going to hear the voices of Niraj Kapur, Kim Johnson, Kevin D Turner – who's one of our conference speakers – and Mic Adam. You know, I asked LinkedIn twice, this is 2 years ago and last year about doing a LinkedIn conference like Salesforce style how Salesforce do it with Dreamforce. I said, look, I spent 15 years in events, it'll be fantastic to do this. And I'm so glad you're putting this together, because we need this for our community. We need this for bonding, we need this for learning. And I'm so, so proud of you, the three of you, for putting this together, because I know how hard it is putting an event together. It's such hard work. And I don't think people will realise how much of your life it takes up. So, I wanted to say a massive thank you to you and Gus and Jeremy for doing this. Really can't wait for the chance to meet Gillian from Vegas and Tiina from Europe. I mean, this is just amazing. It really is. I just wanted to chime in and say, I've never been on a Zoom call with more than 10 people where every single person has their video enabled. So, kudos to all of you. I've never seen anything like this. And I'm looking forward to seeing all of you in person. But it's everybody that's in the audience. I mean, it is really, John, turned out to be the who's who of LinkedIn. And so that to me is fantastic. I wish it were 3 days. I want to thank you, John, for organising all the things that were on my bucket list, which is: I want to meet a bunch of these people that are already in this call and all the people that are speaking, but I've heard from other people that they're coming. So, you've organised for me the perfect bucket list. How could I not be excited to be there? Isn't that lovely? So, if you come to conference, you'll meet those nice people and plenty of others. Now, we want to have some more of that good spirit again so we are organising a second LaunchPad call. That next call is scheduled for Friday 8 December at 1pm UK time, and we'll be in touch with ticket holders with the Zoom link. I'm trying to organise each call for a different time so that we can do something that suits our audience and give everyone a chance to take part. Don't worry if you missed the first call or if you can't make the second call, as we'll have a couple more of these in early 2024. You are welcome to come along to the LaunchPad calls so long as you have a ticket to the UpLift Live conference. We've now sold more than 100 tickets, which is not bad going as we still have several months before the conference. If you'd like to get a ticket, you can join us via uplift-live.com. We know that some people would prefer to spread their payments rather than paying outright so we've created uplift-live.com/plan which has a payment plan option via a service called Klarna. This will give you a chance to pay for your conference ticket in 3 instalments. And it's interest-free. One of the bit of news for now: we've updated the ticket-buying page so that you can include the name of anyone who referred you to join us at the conference. We're doing this so we can reward the people who are spreading the good word about the event. If you've already got a ticket, do let your colleagues know to mention your name when buying their ticket and you'll get a little reward as a result. OK, that will do for this update. Thanks again for all of the lovely comments and DMs and posts about the event. It's all much appreciated as we build towards our launch in March. So, for now, this is John Espirian for Mission Control saying … over and out.UpLift Live Mission Control

I was doing an audit recently of our most popular topics on the podcast, and I wasn't surprised by the most popular topic - around mindset and abundance.  But right after that, our top rated shows were around lead generation, specifically on LinkedIn, and so today I want to bring you a true expert in that space.  After 23 years in London running sales teams. Niraj wanted to raise the standards of sales, so he wrote Everybody Works in Sales which became an Amazon international bestseller. He then set up his own sales coaching and training company to keep businesses accountable to help them achieve results. He's delivered Linkedin Training and Sales Coaching to over 400 small businesses and solopreneurs. In May 2022, Niraj was announced as a Top Sales Influencer in the World to Follow by Salesforce. He's also a Top Linkedin Voice in Sales To Follow by LinkedIn.   Show Notes: [3:57] - Anyone can call themselves a LinkedIn expert, but Niraj is one of only ten that LinkedIn announced as a Top Sales Influencer on the platform. [5:13] - Niraj has spent his entire life in sales, but until 2020, he says he was a nobody. [6:44] - People give up and stop showing up consistently. [8:19] - Niraj had a decent business, but once Covid-19 caused lock downs, all of his clients canceled. He had to make fast changes. [10:20] - When you start something new, you have to remember that you are starting at the bottom. [12:43] - It is important to make yourself different and stand out. [14:39] - Niraj started sharing more about himself on a platform that hadn't been known for that yet. [16:53] - Nobody is judging you as hard as you are judging yourself. [18:20] - It's important to know what your competition is doing but not so you can do the same thing. [19:45] - Doing videos on LinkedIn is one of the best lead generation strategies. [22:27] - Consistency is key in any area of your life. [23:42] - Before you ever send any communication to someone, spend time looking at their content and make an intentional effort. [26:10] - Niraj admits how he felt about financial success and what happened to him and his marriage. [28:14] - Because of his personal development, Niraj didn't let money be the most important thing. [30:58] - Niraj guides us through a writing exercise. [32:27] - Be consistent, vary your content, and leverage LinkedIn video and voice notes. [33:56] - Stand out through personalized voice notes. [36:08] - Niraj describes how he spends his time on LinkedIn and how long he spends on the platform. [39:52] - An abundance mindset is very important. The more you give in the world, the more you get back. [43:01] - Niraj shares common responses to giving out of the goodness of your heart. My guest today is Niraj Kapur. Niraj is many things. An award-winning executive, Niraj has worked in corporate London for 23 years. From small businesses to a national newspaper to FTSE 100 companies, he's experienced it all and shares his insight, knowledge, big wins and horrible failures. A sales trainer, TedX Speaker, LinkedIn Top Voice, book author of 3 books including ‘Everybody works in Sales'.These are reasons enough to invite Niraj to the show, but I personally find Niraj to be one of the most transparent people who posts consistently on LinkedIn: the good, bad, ugly, all of it. It feels like we're going along the roller coaster together and this is rare, especially on LinkedIn with all of the fronts people put on to get business. We have a lot to learn from Niraj's journey .In this episode, Niraj shares how his family emigrated from India in the early 1950's to London and eventually reached Northern Ireland. We also talk about Niraj's stellar 25 year career in Sales, which started after his original plan to be a rock star didn't exactly pan out. This is a deeply intimate conversation, and I'm grateful to Niraj for sharing so openly with us. He's a LinkedIn top voice, three-time author, TedTalk speaker, Salesforce Top Sales Influencer to Follow and a trusted sales coach. Best of all, he dispels the stereotypes most associated with as a sales leader, known for raw truths, vulnerability, and helping others with NO profit motive. In this episode, Niraj shares his personal experience of overcoming trauma after his divorce and why he asked for help from his parents as a grown man. “I did something I really didn't want to do. I asked for help. And I reached out to my elderly retired parents. I said please help me and that's really difficult to do, especially when you're a grown man., At the time it felt horrible, but looking back it was a smartest thing I could do” He explains why asking for help is what smart people do. Why it's stinky to think asking for help is a sign of weakness, and Why it needs to be seen as a sign of strength and career catalyst to move forward. Niraj doesn't hold back (ever) Like me, he shares his frustration when giving free help and seeing people not taking advantage of it because there's nothing worse than seeing unfulfilled potential in others. Fredrik interviews Niraj Kapur, online business coach and expert on using LinkedIn. Previously a sales trainer, Niraj found himself without a job at the beginning of the COVID crisis and switched to online training. He now specialises in using LinkedIn to achieve and facilitate his clients business goals via his training and coaching company Everybody Works In Sales. KEY TAKEAWAYS The importance of formality in virtual selling and online meetings is paramount. Put as much effort into your prep and appearance as you would to a face to face meeting. The similarities between online dating and online selling are numerous. Check out your client/dates profile to see what you have in common. Do not ask for a client meeting/date too quickly as it can unnerve potential customers/partners. Do not talk about yourself non stop. LinkedIn posts can be about any of your current business challenges you face; slow paying customers, staff retention etc. The most popular posts can be the ones that discuss how your personal life interfaces with your business life. Make the effort to meet your LinkedIn support network as it can be invaluable. Stop relying on email automation. Face to face contact and online meeting platforms such as zoom is still the best way of doing things. BEST MOMENTS ‘On a business level people would say that they know me as a coach who leads from the heart and gets results for clients.' ‘I have grown m LinkedIn profile from 5000 people to 18,000 people. The really big growth has been from me talking about my vulnerability and the difficulty of being single in your late forties.' ‘Personal posts work. They just do. On Father's Day this year all my friends who posted pictures of their kids saying “this is my why” did so well.' ‘Get on a plane, get on a bus, get on a train and go see people face to face. It's one of the best things you can do to strengthen relationships and business is relationships.' ‘If you have your phone there anyway and your too shy to do anything if you have the LinkedIn app you can actually send a voice mail and if you do this you actually stand out.'
