Rudy PavichTake a walk with me down Fascination Street as I get to know Rudy Pavich. Born and raised in Hibbing, Minnesota, Rudy SHOULD have been a roofer; as his family owns a roofing company. Rudy decided to go another route. Spending 23 years in the radio business, he had a life changing event in his immediate family; then took a break. That break afforded Rudy the opportunity to focus his passion in another direction....... stand up comedy. In this episode, we chat about how and why he decided to become a comic, we discuss his time in radio a bit, and then we discuss some of the big breaks that have come his way. Rudy is also a film maker with a couple of short films under his belt; one of them having won the prestigious 'Louis Anderson Award' at the Minnesota Film Festival. This was the final film selected by Louis before his passing. Of course I take this chance to pitch my short film idea to Rudy, which he graciously plays along with. Rudy gives most of the credit for his growing fan base and various opportunities to fellow comedian Adam Ray, for inspiring and lending a helping hand. I ask Rudy to tell me more about his video editing & graphic production with Adam Ray, Adam Carolla, Meghan Trainor, and others. Some big opportunities have come his way, and Rudy was ready and eager to meet those head on. We touch a bit on his podcast 'A Long Walk to Cleveland'; which is currently on hiatus.Rudy is currently touring his stand up with various other well known comedians, so be sure to check RudyPavichComedy.com for tour dates near you, and tell him you heard him on Fascination Street Podcast!Special thanks to Lori Fetrick (Ice, from American Gladiators) for helping make this happen.
Had an amazing time with Joe Pavich Jr. at the “Key Ingredient “ Podcast Studio. We discussed his journey and “Growing up Real Estate”.
Rudy and I touched all the bases, from being comic, Dad, Director, Actor, Radio man and now the producer of the Tom Barnard Podcast on Hubbard. We started with Rudy's humble beginnings in Hibbing MN to living his dreams in many different artful outlets. Rudy speak on being dad and how proud he is of that. To thinking he was going to be a plumber to all the interesting twist and of his life. I really don't want to give anything away, so, I'll just say you have to listen to Rudy. As he gets on a roll and tells you about a pretty cool life. We’re talking inflation. Consumer Price Index data was just released for November, and we’re seeing food-at-home price increases really, largely driven by increases in four of the six major grocery store food group indexes: fruits and vegetables (up 1.4%); cereals and bakery products (up 1.1%); dairy and related products (up 1%), and nonalcoholic beverages (up 0.7%) Even though the index for meats, poultry, fish, and eggs fell slightly (0.2%) in November, our own recent poll around inflation category pain found overwhelmingly that it's higher ticket meats that are still hurting retailers. A dairy clerk from Hy-Vee also commented saying that egg prices have been “ridiculous.” So how have retailers been responding to inflation and inventory mismatch from a pricing perspective? Supermarket News tuned in with Matt Pavich, senior director of retail innovation at Revionics, an AI-driven price optimization solutions company, to talk pricing strategy, price perception, and how retailers can be optimizing their efforts. Pavich is also a former merch buyer for Target.

In our penultimate episode of 2021, Dario speaks to Frank Pavich the director of Jodorowsky's Dune and NYHC. With all the publicity and discussion around Denis Villeneuve's blockbuster interpretation of Frank Herbert's influential Sci-Fi novel, it was fantastic to go back to the first, incredibly imaginative but ultimately failed attempt to bring the book to the screen from one of cinema's singular visionaries: Alejandro Jodorowsky. Frank talks about his first contact with Jodorowsky, his uncompromising attitude to the production scope and casting, and his assembling of a team of designers and artists including Kurt Geiger, whose drawings Pavich uses to great effect in the documentary and which would go on to define mainstream sci-fi for decades to come. Frank also talks about NYHC (New York Hardcore) his directorial debut, putting the making of the film into the context of his fascinating idiosyncratic film education, and how the film was made in that liminal period between the analog and digital eras of filmmaking. You can watch it online for free here. Also, Neil reviews serval blu-ray releases including Champion directed by Mark Robson and starring Kirk Douglas, Sergio Corbucci's The Great Silence (both from Masters of Cinema), Jean Pierre Melville's Enfant Terrible (BFI), Alistair Mcleland's music film on Saint Etienne, I've Been Trying to Tell You. ——— You can listen to The Cinematologists for free, wherever you listen to podcasts: click here to follow. Hope is cool.......exactly where she needs to be. As Executive Director of the food bank and soup kitchen, Care for Friends, she and her team specialize in providing services for the homeless without documentation and without barriers. Raised in the South suburbs of Chicago, she majored in international studies and spend time in China teaching children, before working for the Marriott Foundation and their youth with disabilities program at Chicago public high schools. After going to grad school to study conflict transformation and human trafficking, she went to Taiwan to work with victims there, before returning home and finding a position with Care for Friends in 2019. Originally a space for refugees, the soup kitchen has become a community hub where locals in need can find opportunities for affordable housing and stable jobs. Hope has learned the valuable skill of grant writing, and has been expanding the reach of the center with grocery programs and other partnerships. With a $3 million dollar capital projects grant from the state of Illinois on the way, she is preparing to rebuild a whole new center and set up the program for long term success. Get involved by checking out Careforfriends.org, and don't be afraid to become a regular monthly donator, if you live too far away to come volunteer. It is pretty fun if you can make it.

Do you ever meet someone and right away feel like home? That's how I felt when I first met Jen Pavich and I'm thrilled to share some of her stories and wisdom with you today. Like me, Jen became a mom before she was ready and like me, Jen had some fairly traumatic events in her life that molded and shaped her. Pile on top of that a bout of homelessness, societal and patriarchal expectations and you have one helluva story. Also? We all need a friend like Jen's Melissa – someone to give us a good kick in the pants and poke fun at our myriad quirks. Jen likes to say she's lived at least five lives from becoming a young single parent, homelessness, massively different career reinventions, and so much more. Jen shares with us her stories of trying to be the perfect mom, her journey through personal development and why she's a passionate feminist and life coach working to make paradigm shifts with the existing power structures at play in our society. And oh how we are fucked up as a society! We need more Jens! ARE YOU READY TO GO THERE? ____ JEN PAVICH is a feminist life coach and creator of the Unquiet Sisterhood Podcast. Jen helps women overcome their internalized patriarchy so they can start addressing external barriers. She also not-so-secretly radicalizes women to become social justice warriors hellbent on upending the existing power structure. Jen is accredited as a coach through the International Coach Federation (ICF). She’s also a certified facilitator in The Daring WayTM method created by Dr. Brené Brown. Why the structured essay writing we're teaching in school is not necessarily what employers want. Learning to write an essay in school is standard. You brainstorm, research a topic, develop a thesis, outline the piece, and begin writing. Jill Pavich, Ed Pioneer In the end, students create a well thought out composition that is grammatically correct and punctually sound. While learning those fundamentals is crucial, do those skills transfer to today's workplace? After twelve years in the classroom, Jill Pavich began following up with past students, and she learned the answer was no. Pavich interviewed several "star students." She asked one of them if what they learned in her class was transferable to the real world. "She [the former student] said a lot of that writing gave her the just-in-case knowledge, but it wasn't giving her any applications," said Pavich. "She had to reteach herself what it meant to write for slide decks, and what it meant to write scripts for videos, or to write for blog posts, or LinkedIn posts, things she was doing for her clients." Knowing that the discipline of writing an essay was not connecting to a modern world, Pavich decided to do something about it. She started EdPioneer, and now helps high school English/Language Arts teachers make writing more authentic, more relevant, and more real. What if your inner critic is just the patriarchy in disguise? In this episode, Jen Pavich and I take a deep dive into internalized oppression - what it is, how it shows up, and how to let that shit go! If you believe you need to be more perfect before you really start to show up for your life & your dreams, you won't want to miss this. We connect the dots between what our culture tells us, what we tell ourselves, and the reality we're creating as a result. Jen asks us to consider what we've been taught about what it means to be a "good woman," and then ask ourselves whether or not we truly believe those things. Simple, and yet so powerful. Jen Pavich is a feminist life coach who helps women overcome all of the bullshit they've been taught about how to be a perfect woman so that they can unleash their inner badass, thrive in their lives, and smash the patriarchy. Womanhood is a continuous rite of passage. We are in a constant state of becoming. Evolving and growing. Shrinking and expanding. We are our mothers as much as we are ourselves. On this episode, we explore the various (and sometimes hilarious) things about being a woman.

Join us as we interview Frank Pavich, director of The N.Y.H.C. Documentary and Jodorowsky’s Dune!! Greetings and salutations faithful listeners, welcome to the latest and perhaps most charming episode, episode 46, of CINEPUNX! On this episode we were very lucky/honored/blessed even to sit down with director Frank Pavich. Do your remember, or have you seen, or have you heard the sound track for THE N.Y.H.C. DOCUMENTARY?? It is such a weird and awesome exploration of a moment in time, a scene in transition, and the ridiculous characters who populate that scene. The soundtrack was HUGE when I was about 16 and going to all the shows I could. It wasn’t until much later I got to actually see the film, and it even got some press at the time. A brief history of the show, for those of you who are new to it. Josh and I met through hardcore shows, but really bonded as friends and brothers going to film events. It did not take long for us to discover some shared passions in film, not the LEAST of which was the director Alejandro Jodorowsky. Jodorowsky directed films like El Topo, The Holy Mountain, and Santa Sangre. So when we first heard about the documentary exploring Jodorowsky’s failed efforts to make Dune we were beyond excited, and I THINK we first saw it together, though our collective memories are fuzzy on that point. Yet very few documentaries in recent years have inspired so much, and I even had a chance to review the film for Cinapse here. However, it was on an early episode of this very show I pointed out a significant discovery that I made, that the director of the visionary documentary, Frank Pavich, was also the director of the cult classic The NYHC Documentary. When we first discovered this, both Josh and I were floored because Pavich, from afar, seemed like our perfect guest, considering how his work combined our two interests so well. Who else had even done anything that spanned Jodorowsky and Hardcore? Nobody that we could think of. Flash forward to today, and low and behold Frank Pavich was not just an ideal guest in theory, but in reality as well. We had a GREAT conversation with him where he graciously indulged our questions about the making of these two very different films, as well as some fun personal stories and a few about friends! Frank was very generous with his time, and really informed us about so much. We loved having him on the show, and we really hope he will join us again soon!! We also cannot express ENOUGH how grateful we are to goo friend of the podcast Grace Kim. Grace is the coolest ever, she welcomed us into her Queens abode, made us coffee, and took us afterwards to get amazing food. She has been going to shows as long as we have, and if you don’t know here you are missing out. She is also an AMAZING tailor so keep that in mind if, you know, you need someone for your classy event or expensive movie. A few other notes. During the show Frank explains that we should use a famous quote from the NYHC doc, one in which Puerto Rican Mike explains his employment situation. The problem is, I could not find that clip. In fact, what is on the show is basically all I could find on youtube, and as I said, I do not own a dvd copy of the film. Then again, even if I did, I wouldn’t know how to rip the sound from it. Whatever. The films is hard to find though, so I can’t exactly post a link. You can still find JODOROWSKY’S DUNE and I highly recommend that you do. So, big thanks to Frank Pavich, Grace Kim, and those like Doug Tilley who told me just to ask whoever we want to be on the show and see what happens. WE HOPE YOU ENJOY THIS EPISODE AS MUCH AS WE DID MAKING IT SUBSCRIBE, RATE, REVIEW PLZ The post CINEPUNX Episode 46: Frank Pavich ( THE N.Y.H.C. DOCUMENTARY, JODOROWSKY’S DUNE) appeared first on Cinepunx.
Joining us for the 20th episode of the Hey You Geeks podcast is director Frank Pavich, here to discuss his incredible, hit documentary, Jodorowsky’s Dune. We discuss the film, the enigma of Jodorowsky, alternate timelines and so much more. Pavich shares fascinating stories about first meeting the legendary Jodorowsky, H.R. Giger and Michel Seydoux. From Jodorowsky’s Paris apartment and Giger’s museum to Cannes, Pavich takes us on a journey through the creation of the documentary, and what could have been if Jodorowsky’s visionary epic made it to the big screen. With names like David Carradine, Orson Welles, Dali, Pink Floyd and Mick Jagger attached to Jodorowsky’s adaptation of Dune, the doc is full of fascinating casting stories and a visual tour through a unique vision in film.
