Welcome to episode 20 of EigenLayer Unlocked. In today's video, we dive into the mechanics behind Predicate, led by Nikhil Raghuveera, and their goal to streamline transaction prerequisites across crypto. This idea of “transaction prerequisites” may sound a bit like a mouthful, but the way we are thinking about it is bringing the crypto onchain UX far closer to that of the internet. Predicate is on a mission to bring onchain transactions up to speed with global compliance and security needs. By focusing on transaction prerequisites— essential conditions that make or break the legitimacy of a transaction—they're simplifying the way onchain apps can interact with users on the front facing level. So, why EigenLayer? Well, by using EigenLayer, Predicate taps into a decentralized operator network that checks, verifies, and issues signatures without the need for centralized infrastructure or a unique token. This network not only supports prerequisites like risk scoring and collateral validation but also provides the flexibility for applications to customize these checks based on their specific needs. Using cryptoeconomic security allows Predicate to expand the functionality of onchain UX and provide verifiable, unique transaction logic. With crypto's growing reach into the global economy, Predicate's work aims to ensure that crypto apps can operate with an easy UX while staying compliant in many cases. Let's unpack how Predicate uses the power of onchain and offchain data to create a more robust onchain UX. Website: https://therollup.co/ Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/1P6ZeYd.. "Predicate a ti mismo" Salmos 42:6-8

Darshan Kulkarni delves into the recently released draft guidance by the Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH) outlining best practices for selecting a predicate device when preparing a 510(k) submission. This guidance underscores four key considerations. The draft guidance emphasizes the significance of technological characteristics. If the new device shares the same technological characteristics as the predicate device, the 510(k) summary should include a comprehensive summary of these features.Design-related recalls take center stage in the FDA's recommendations. The agency discourages choosing a predicate device that has been subject to a design-related recall. If a submitter opts for such a device, they must explicitly address how they've mitigated the safety concerns that led to the recall.Transparency and documentation constitute the third crucial consideration. The FDA stresses the need for a detailed 510(k) summary that provides a comprehensive understanding of the basis for determining substantial equivalence. The guidance encourages the inclusion of a narrative explanation in the 510(k) summary. This narrative should elucidate the process behind selecting the predicate device, offering transparency and insight into the decision-making process.
The choice of a Predicate Device is important and challenging at the same time. Your predicate device is already on the US market, so all you must do is select it and confirm that your device is the same as the predicate and Bingo, you can register your product in the US. Ryan expresses infinite disappointment in the surviving members of Queen (Brian May, Roger Taylor, John Deacon) removing the classic 'Fat-Bottomed Girls' from their Greatest Hits album. He then proceeds to troll the decision by playing memorable songs about curves on ladies for the remainder of the program. In hearing the word Lucifer, most of you will automatically think of the character Satan - because in the traditional narrative, Lucifer is synonymous with Satan - God's arch-rival and nemesis! However, when we look at Isaiah 14:12, the question is: who or what is the prophet writing about?
In this Medtech Matters podcast episode of Mike on Medtech with Mike Drues, president of Vascular Sciences, we examine the FDA policy regarding the use of a recalled device as a predicate in a 510k submission. Is it a good idea? What considerations are there for doing so? Specifically, the following questions are addressed:First, would you please explain the various levels of a recall as it relates to a medical device and what each level means? Can you quickly remind us of how a predicate device is used in a 510k submission?Given we've laid the groundwork, can you now please explain how a recalled device can be used as a predicate device? Is there any argument that can be made for having it be valid to use a Class 1 recall device as a predicate?Do you think a recall should invalidate a device from being used as a predicate? Or, would you ever suggest a recalled device to a client to be used as a predicate?I know some have argued for a “cap” to a device being used as a predicate, for example, nothing older than 10 years. Should there be a minimum amount of time a device should be on the market in clinical use to be able to be used as a predicate? What are the most important takeaways?Listen to this discussion and see if you think using a recalled device as a predicate is a good regulatory strategy. If you'd like to share thoughts, ask questions, or have a suggestion for a future topic for us to cover, please reach out to me at sfenske@rodmanmedia.com and we'll see if we want to address your ideas/inquiries/suggestions in a future episode.
S. Francesco)

Gunnar Morling asked a great querstion on Twitter: ""Separating storage and compute" vs. "Predicate push-down" -- I can't quite square these two with each other. Is there a world where they co-exist, or is it just two opposing patterns/trends in DB tech. ?" Those are complimentary patterns and you definitely want them together. They appear contradictory because "separating storage and compute" can mean different things to different people. In this episode, I explain the various meanings of compute-storage separation, the problems it solves, the new problem it can create, and how predicate pushdown saves the day. Welcome to The Nonlinear Library, where we use Text-to-Speech software to convert the best writing from the Rationalist and EA communities into audio. This is: Verification Is Not Easier Than Generation In General, published by johnswentworth on December 6, 2022 on LessWrong. People who've spent a lot of time thinking about P vs NP often have the intuition that “verification is easier than generation”. It's easier to verify a solution to some equations than to find a solution. It's easier to verify a password than to guess it. That sort of thing. The claim that it is easier to verify solutions to such problems than to generate them is essentially the claim that P ≠ NP, a conjecture which is widely believed to be true. Thus the intuition that verification is generally easier than generation. The problem is, this intuition comes from thinking about problems which are in NP. NP is, roughly speaking, the class of algorithmic problems for which solutions are easy to verify. Verifying the solution to some equations is easy, so that problem is in NP. I think a more accurate takeaway would be that among problems in NP, verification is easier than generation. In other words, among problems for which verification is easy, verification is easier than generation. Rather a less impressive claim, when you put it like that. With that in mind, here is an algorithmic problem for which generation is easier than verification. Predicate: given a program, does it halt? Generation problem: generate a program which halts. Verification problem: given a program, verify that it halts. The generation problem is trivial. The verification problem is uncomputable. That's it for the post, you all can argue about the application to alignment in the comment section. Thanks for listening. This is a short lesson on Tagalog Grammar. Specifically, this episode will help you understand how to use the si, ang, ni, ng, sa & kay markers or linkers. Essential Questions: What are the 2 parts of the statement? What are the subject markers in Tagalog language? What are the object markers in Tagalog language? What are the possessive markers in Tagalog language? Subject answers the question what or who. It is the thing or the person that you're talking about. For example, "Si Karen ay aking kaibigan". Sino ang kaibigan? Si Karen. Predicate is the detail or the additional information. Subject & predicate are the 2 parts of the statement. The predicate can be broken down into 3: the verb, the direct object & the indirect object. Notice that: Si & ang are subject markers. Ni & ng are direct object markers. Kay & sa are indirect object markers. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/tagalogwithalbine/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/tagalogwithalbine/support

Are you considering patent protection for your software as a medical device? Should you keep your secret sauce via the trade secret route? Perform due diligence to stay ahead of the competition. In this episode of the Global Medical Device Podcast, Jon Speer talks to Kevin Buckley and Neil Thompson from Torrey Pines Law Group. Their biotech-focused legal firm specializes in artificial intelligence (AI) applied to medical devices. Together, they discuss intellectual property (IP) with software as a medical device (SaMD) and AI and machine learning (ML) powered technologies. Some highlights of this episode include: • Patent or not? From a patent perspective, it's easier to understand protecting software from an IP perspective by considering the problem to be solved. • Perform a patent search using third-party vendors to determine if competitors have claimed inventions and infringement information. • Due diligence of competitive intelligence should address licensing, acquisition, investments, and freedom to operate that enhances research and development. • Interest in adapting AI, machine learning (ML), and SaMD is increasing as clients develop technologies from scratch (De Novo) for better ways to help people. • When deciding whether to seek patent protection on technology, consider international patent laws and follow the Alice: Two-step Rule for patent eligibility. • The pros and cons of choosing the patent protection over trade secret route include whether clients need limited or unlimited duration to enforce patent rights. • AI-enabled inventions, such as X-ray imaging, is software that utilizes and combines new/existing devices as systems using ML, algorithms, and datasets. • Regulatory pathways for medical devices include 510(k) and De Novo. Predicate devices may be required and potential improvements may be patentable.
