In the early 2000's, when I was the sales manager for a local IT company in Ohio, I needed to meet and build relationships with other business owners in the area so that when they had an IT need come up, like upgrading their server or expanding their network, my company and I were top of mind. So I attended weekly breakfast networking meetings, and showed up at fundraisers and other community events. I spent time getting to know the people in my community. Fast forward to today and most of us are now focused on global ecommerce and building communities of followers, connections, clients and partners - people who may not live or work anywhere near us. It's a digital community, and that presents a challenge when it comes to relationship building. How are we supposed to develop deep, personal relationships today with people we may never meet face to face? That's what we're covering in today's episode of Partnership Unpacked. Welcome back to Partnership Unpacked, where I selfishly use this time to pick the brains of experts at strategic partnerships, channel programs, affiliates, influencer marketing, and relationship building… oh, and you get to learn too! Subscribe to learn how you can amplify your growth strategy – with a solid takeaway every episode from partnership experts in the industry. And today we're talking about one of the core tenets of partnership - relationship building. But as I mentioned, so many of us are focused on building relationships on a global stage, relying on digital tools and digital networks, that we lack the capability and benefit of face-to-face meetings and in-person exchanges. Ironically, it was at an in-person event where I met today's guest, Raquel Borras, and she is an absolute treasure when it comes to social networking. Raquel is the marketing manager for New American Funding and the host of her own YouTube Channel, Raq The Boat where she's creating fantastic content for and with kids - and that aligns with her mission for RAQVISION, a safe social network for youth. What I love about Raquel is her unparalleled passion and enthusiasm, which is demonstrated in her role as Chief Excitement Officer of True To You Branding. She's been helping others understand how to develop personal brands that are true to them on social networks, particularly LinkedIn, which lead to real connections, real community, and real conversations. And I couldn't be more excited to have her and her expertise in the studio with me today. Today I'm talking with the energetic and refreshingly honest Raquel Borras, of RaqVision, host of YouTube channel Raq the Boat, and mental health advocate. Raquel shares with us how her childhood shaped her view of the world, and how she relates with, and can draw out, the best in children. RaqVision is THE youth 17 and under social network, a “Mindful and Supportive Playground.” With a background in branding and marketing, Raquel set out to build a social platform that serves as a disruptor to social media, which is often toxic and isolating to kids and teenagers. Since she is great at branding, she's managed in just one year to build a platform, with no third party connections, where kids can feel safe, seen and heard. She was seeing how much kids have been craving community, particularly with the isolation of the pandemic lockdowns, and wanted to do something about it. One thing they encourage at RaqVision is a “No-So 24” a social media, music, TV and mobile devices cleanse for 24 hours as a means to reset and tune-in to themselves and those they love. We could all use a No-So 24, don't you think? I love the story Raquel shares about a 15 year old who reached out to her on LinkedIn to tell her how inspired she was after seeing a sweaty armpit photo - meaning: not perfect, no filters, and definitely not something one would choose in our highly curated social media times. It was just a photo of a young woman who had danced the night away and had a blast with her friends. I fricken love this story, and I'm sure you will too. Raquel's dedication to providing a safe space and a voice to young people is impressive, and her passion and enthusiasm are palpable. I also want to highlight her refreshing honesty in how allowing the space for this platform to evolve into her ideal vision means that she's choosing to work a salaried day job to both finance RaqVision and maintain her living expenses. The truth is, there are a lot of people on social media making it look easy and for many of us, triggering some serious “not-good-enough” thoughts, when in reality, starting a new venture can be really difficult, and it definitely requires funding. How we all choose to manifest that funding will be different, and there's no shame in that. Give this episode a listen, and enjoy…I find myself reflecting on our conversation a lot, and I'm sure you will too. So, grab a beverage or a snack and settle-in to listen to Raquel and her amazing journey. Raquel's Bio:

Today's guest is Raquel Borras,Chief Excitement Officer of True To You Branding. Raquel's expertise in social media and branding started with LinkedIn, where she studied other social media moguls and influencers. Raquel believes that bringing valuable content, authenticity and vulnerability to your social media is the key to gaining a strong following and presence. Raquel explains that if you want people to listen to what you have to say, you need to be consistent with putting out content that adds value. Central to that value is that people need to connect with a person. They want to see the face and the personality behind the brand. A lot of brands forget that there are humans with feelings and emotions interacting with your content. You will never be able to connect with them if you're not being authentic. Raquel had a major turning point in her approach to social media. She took a big risk and did a video, sharing her story about how she suffered from depression and attempted suicide. It encouraged people to come out and connect with her and celebrate what she shared. It was the best thing she could have done. It resonated and it helped people because she was being authentic. --- Cyber Security Matters is a partnered program of Conversations That Matter. Raquel Borras founded TRUE TO YOU BRANDING to help all professionals create a brand that is theirs uniquely. Hi energy and lots of laughter explains how Raquel created her personal brand.
During Episode 108 of the HyperFast Agent Podcast, you'll hear from four experts comprising the social media panel at the 2019 HyperFast Sales Summit. Panelists Tessabella Jelten, Matt Leighton, Lana Rodriguez, and Raquel Borras share tips that will help you master social media in 2020. Listen to hear great ideas for using or getting started with Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube. Episode Highlights: We receive a short introduction to the panelists. Tessabella Jelten has helped hundreds of industry leaders increase their business through social media marketing. Matt Leighton is a successful real estate agent and YouTube expert. Lana Rodriguez uses Facebook as part of her referral strategy that helps her sell over 200 homes per year. Raquel Borras is a brand relations manager and director of business development. Tessabella began flipping houses at age 18 and flipped 23 homes her first year. She learned how to use social media to generate human leads. 80% of her closed business comes from her organic Instagram strategy. It's important to think about Instagram as a place to display what you can do. Think of Instagram Stories as your own personal reality show. Use Stories to highlight the things you want to be recognized for and to create authoritative content. Having an amazing online presence allowed Tessabella to overcome objections based on her age. Identify the people that you want to connect with, come from a place of value, but then don't be afraid to ask for the connection. Put yourself in front of the people that you want to do business with or that you want to get referrals from. Matt Leighton reminds us that YouTube is Google for video. Everything he does ties back to Arlington, Virginia. If you find yourself doing deals in neighborhoods you don't prefer, or price points you don't prefer, YouTube is a perfect way to tell the market who you are and what you specialize in. When looking for content to create, choose the ten biggest questions or problems your clients have and answer those questions. Choose your top five favorite neighborhoods and do a video about those neighborhoods. Matt reminds us that we don't need fancy cameras. Use your iPhone. People will watch your videos if you hook them. Lana Rodriguez shares that she used Facebook as her CRM in the early days of her business. She is currently maxed out at 5000 friends. None of us should see Facebook as a privacy platform. It's a lead generation marketing exposure platform. Lana created a private Facebook group for her clients only. The group allows her to directly market to her sphere. She presents herself in an organic way and it works. She "stalks" her clients and teammates. Facebook and Instagram are the only platforms that let you organically post your content and do free marketing. She designates one evening a week where she cross-lists her listings on local yard sale pages. Little tips and hacks add up if you're willing to do them. Raquel Borras tells us there's a lot of potential with LinkedIn. She started creating her own personal brand and has been helping loan officers do the same. People want to see who you are. They want to see that you're authentic and you're just being you. She started putting more video content out there that was insightful. Be consistent and add value. Do not have your Facebook profile on a private setting. Make your profile very professional and family-oriented. Lana tells the story of crying during a Facebook Live and what she learned from that experience. Be as personal and relatable as possible. Get over yourself. Hold yourself to relentless accountability. 3 Key Points: Create authoritative content that highlights the things you want to be known for. Private Facebook groups allow you to market directly to your sphere. Be authentic and personable when creating content.
