I know I say this a lot, but I'm constantly excited about the guests that I have on the show. I'm extra excited about today's guest, Alicia Sinclair. She's also a Certified Sex Coach. We went through the same program at Sex Coach U. Sinclair is the CEO and founder of Children of the Revolution, which holds the brand's b vibe, Le Wand, and The Cowgirl. She'd already been in the sex toy industry for a long time before becoming a Sexologist, and when she saw that there were some holes to fill in that industry (wink, wink), specifically about pleasure education, she got her certification and started her own companies, and a pleasure revolution while she's at it. She believes heavily that education and pleasure go hand in hand. If you don't feel like you have learned enough about anal from me and my podcast, then you need to check out their Anal Academy. Also since it's Women's History Month, I asked her about women in history that she looks up to. We also discussed overcoming vibrator objections, favorite positions for integrating vibes with a partner, and what's next in sex tech. If you are not local to the Kansas City area, or just have not had a chance to pick up your copy of The Pitch on newsstands, read my March column Still Got It: Aging doesn't have to slow you down in the bedroom.
"He said he wasn't attracted to me anymore." Said my friend after 20+ years of marriage, 2 kids, mental health ups and downs, and a chronic health diagnosis. Personally, I want to pull the guy's hair out, shake him by the shoulders, and give him a stern "seriously, WTF dude" thrashing. The more zen side of my personality understands relationships change as life changes. And if they don't change together, emotional and physical intimacy gets lost in the shuffle. Midlife is full of big changes, which is why this month's episode theme is intimacy in midlife. This week I'm talking with Dr. Patti Britton (Ph.D.) a nationally board-certified Clinical Sexologist known as the “Mother of Sex Coaching”. Dr. Patti is the author of hundreds of articles, book chapters, forewords, and five major books in sexology. She is the host of over 40 DVD programs on couples' sexual enhancement, has appeared on over 200 television shows, and is a featured guest on hundreds of shows for radio, podcasts, summits, and media. She is the Co-Founder of Sex Coach U, the world's premier training and certifying organization for sex coaches. Through her private practice in Los Angeles, CA, and worldwide via Zoom, Dr. Patti specializes in serving the Boomer Generation and sexless couples of all ages, who are seek sexual wellness and pleasure. Here's what you'll hear in our conversation: What is sex coaching and how it's different from counseling or therapy? The issues Dr. Patti works with clinically around sex, body image, and aging for women in midlife. Dr. Patti describes her solutions for what to do when we dry up, sag or droop and slow down. How to cope with body image issues as they relate to low libido and sexual desire. How relationship conflicts related to sex and sexuality later in life often radiate from misplaced expectations. And Dr. Patti's tips on how women in midlife can find more pleasure in intimacy - physically and emotionally. If your intimate relationship has lost the passionate spark, stay tuned for 3 more conversations this month with midlife intimacy experts. The Women's Health, Wisdom, and... WINE! podcast is a weekly conversation with practitioners, providers, patients & healers about complex reproductive medicine & women's health challenges, the value of an integrative approach to these challenges, many of the women's health topics you're already thinking about & uncomfortable talking about & my personal favorite... WINE!Why is it so hard to have honest conversations about sex? Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder, commonly known as low libido, affects about 1 in 10 women. Conventional medicine usually offers little to no assistance outside of hormonal intervention and often refers women to sex therapy. Is it possible to reconnect with the part of yourself from which you've been disconnected for so long without pharmaceutical intervention? Today we talk about sex from all angles including libido, arousal, pleasure, intimacy, erotic script, desire, and even consent. For most women, sex starts BEFORE the sex starts. About our guest:Renée Yvonne is The Gen SeXologist. She helps passionate Gen Xers and Baby Boomers reignite sexless relationships and navigate health and medical issues that negatively affect sexual performance so they can create an exhilarating sex life and become the fullest expression of who they are sexually. I am joined today by my friend, Mieke Stapleberg. We met through Sex Coach U at a SAR, and that stands for Sexual Attitude Reassessment. What better time to make a friend, than when you're being your most vulnerable and exposing yourself to new things? In addition to talking about her some of her brands - including Mind Sex and Karma Mind - we talked about mental health, bias, stigma, and self-reflection. And we did talk about the recent Andrew Tate scandal, of course. We also discussed ethical porn and porn addiction, and supporting sex workers. So there's a little bit of something in here for everyone! Find Mieke on Instagram @karmamind_

My friend Kinkaid McMinn joined me again on Keep Them Coming. He's a fellow Certified Sex Coach and Clinical Sexologist who also graduated from Sex Coach U. We are ringing in National Masturbation Month 2022! Topics include male or penis-owning masturbation myths, when you might know there's an issue in your relationship, our thoughts on tantra and semen retention, Kinkaid explained jelqing, and more.
Welcome back you sickening bitches! (sorry…I've been watching a lot of RuPaul's Drag Race) Sooooo, after going Under Covers with a few fellas, I figured I'd flip the script and in this episode speak to a professional in the world of sex. A Sex Coach, to be exact. Okay, what's a Sex Coach? Great question, thank you for asking. According to the folks at Sex Coach U, Sex Coaching is not is not sex therapy. (Sex Coaches) focus on the present and the future, helping clients move towards what they want to achieve. Sex coaching typically takes place over a shorter time frame than sex therapy. Sex coaches are not sex workers. Most sex coaches will work “talk-only” with clients and sex coaches do not offer erotic services. In this Under Covers conversation, find out how a childhood with hippie parents shaped the sex coach. How her early sexual experiences and freedom created a natural transition to helping others with their own sex lives. We go into her experiences with kink, role playing and all sorts of private places…with full consent, as always. Wherever you are on your journey, remember that there are trained professionals out there who can guide you. Most of us have been raised with a lot of shame and trauma when it comes to sex and sometimes you need someone uniquely trained to help you understand that, unpack it and then kick that shit to the curb. There's never any shame in asking for help. In other news, I think my semi-sabbatical has come to an end. I'm going to be releasing shows with much more regularity now. I appreciate your patience and for you listening and following the show. Thank you, thank you, thank you. If you can do me a solid, please send me an email at info@sexedthemusical.com and let me know your thoughts and what you'd like to hear on the show. I promise I won't spam you. I barely have enough time to get this shit finished every week. But I'd really love to hear from you. And you'd like to go Under Covers with me, please let me know ASAP. I'd love to take this journey with you. XOXOXOX, Wendy Don't forget to purchase my book, 3 Secrets to the Happy and Healthy Relationship You've Always F*cking Wanted, a #1 new release on Amazon. The Mother of Sex Coaching, Dr Patti Britton, who is also one of Kristen's mentors, was today's special guest. Listening to two people who's life revolves around pleasure activism is quite a treat! Dr Patti shared her perspectives on foreplay, pleasure, sexual wellness, and more. She is retiring from Sex Coach U next year, so she shared what is in store after that change. You can find her books The Art of Sex Coaching, Designing and Leading a Successful SAR, and Idiots Guide to Sensual Massage on her website DrPattiBritton.com.
My guest, Michael Castleman, is a sexual health and wellness journalist who has written books, is a prolific blogger, and he also gives advice at greatsexguidance.com. I use his book, Sizzling Sex For Life for a lot of reasons, mostly because he's just made my life a lot easier by compiling a ton of research! He's also friends with my mentor, Dr. Patti Britton from Sex Coach U, so we gushed about her for a little while. I hope what you take away from this conversation is something that Michael pointed out, which is that everyone is truly sexually unique - therefore everything's basically normal so long as it's sane, safe, and consensual.
Certified sex coach Kristine D'Angelo talks about pleasure and feeling empowered when it comes to sex, especially for vagina owners. Conversationally, she tackles the most common barriers for vagina owners in achieving sexual pleasure and the kinds of expectations that they're up against based on societal standards. The differences and similarities between sex coaches and sex therapist are also discussed so people can make the best choice when seeking help. What's the difference between sex coaching and sex therapy? Sex coaching is very much about behavioral changes and practicing those changes in order to feel confident and more connected to your body in order to achieve pleasure. Sex therapy is forming a strong relationship first, and where sex coaching can be built off of. Why specialize in coaching women? Kristine wants to watch women step back into their sexuality and become confident and comfortable and advocate for their pleasure. She has been in a position where she has lost her power during a sexual encounter, and she knows how helpless that can make a person feel. What are the different pressures that make it even more difficult for vagina owners to achieve sexual fulfillment? One of the biggest obstacles is constant comparison – from comparing themselves to other vagina owners, to comparing their body to the idol standards of what society thinks is beautiful. This behavior tends to work inwards rather than outwards, where women start to think that there is something wrong with them and that they are below societal standards. Also, women are not explicitly given permission to explore their sexuality in our society as opposed to men. What would people expect working with you or somebody like you? Through holistic coaching, different questions are asked, like, “Where do you want your sex life to be six months from now without worrying what could get in the way or what could go wrong?” By describing your ideal sex life, a sex coach would then ask you to do home assignments based on a customized action plan. Biography: Kristine D'Angelo is a Certified Sex Coach who works with women and couples, coaching her clients towards sexual fulfillment. She has always been drawn to human interactions and has focused on human sexuality as her main passion in life and path in education. The Women's Health, Wisdom, and... WINE! podcast is a biweekly conversation with practitioners, providers, patients & healers about complex reproductive medicine & women's health challenges, the value of an integrative approach to these challenges, many of the women's health topics you're already thinking about & uncomfortable talking about & my personal favorite... She has been working as a Certified Clinical Sexologist since June 2020. She studied at Sex Coach U and Tantric Institute of Integrated Sexuality. I'm joined today by Dr Lanae St. John. She's a sexuality educator and an author, and I was so pleased to be able to host her on my show and talk about her book. I know Dr Lanae because of our affiliation with Sex Coach U. This was such a wonderful conversation about how do you have "The Talk" with your kids. This wasn't a how-to guide about ages and stages. This is really about some key pillars that she feels are necessary for parents to be able to first process themselves - things like communication, consent, respect, pleasure, and fantasy. We also answered it a listener question -one of my listeners found out that her twelve-year-old even after they had a talk about it has still been looking at porn. This is not the first time I've had people reach out to ask the question of what do I do about my kid looking things they really shouldn't be looking at? And especially with as much screen time is some kids are getting right now with lockdown, maybe you're needing to have some awkward conversations. We need to talk about how to prepare them for real world relationships one day. How do they build respect with other people? How do they understand pleasure? All these things and more... you'll seriously love this episode. And even if you don't have kids listen to learn more about yourself or how to help young people that you have in your life. Mentioned in the episode: Dr Lanae St. John can be reached by email or on Facebook and Instagram. Her Book "Read Me: A Parental Primer for 'The Talk'" is available at local bookstores and online retailers. Go to her website for more information. Want to try DipSea? Listener question: "Can you please explain to people how to start engaging in anal play? I talk to a lot of people, men and women, who are scared because they don’t understand how to work up to it and the various ways you can engage in anal play without jamming a huge dick or toy in your ass.” That's a direct quote! And, of course, I’m more than happy to talk about anal intercourse and play. I'll talk about solo play, how to talk to your partner, breathing techniques, and lube do's and don'ts. Mentioned in this episode: Couples Intimacy Retreat in Jamaica: I’m co-hosting a retreat to help couples grow closer, physically in emotionally. I'm your host, and the founder of SPF, Melissa Carnagey. Join me, and special guests, as we dive into the art of sex-positive parenting. Together, we will shake the shame and trash the taboos to strengthen sexual health talks with the children in our lives. Thank you so much for joining us! {Same person speaking} " Alright so this is a special event, families, normally when I have a guest on the podcast it is done remotely, but this time I am staring… " {Another voice interrupts} "In-person!!!" (laughs) Melissa Carnagey: "Yes!!! I am staring at Erica Force, AKA @s.xuallectual which many of you know, and many of you may not, and so I would love to allow you to introduce yourself and tell us a little bit about the journey that brought you to the work you're doing." Erica Force: "Beautiful. Thank you for having me, and I'm very excited for you to hear my voice, which doesn't happen often over Instagram so, this is good. Yeah, I started this journey into sex-positivity about 2 ½- 3 years ago. I came from a background of a health career, always looking into the health aspect of being human. I worked for a while in corporate health settings with my undergrad in health administration with a concentration on management. I wasn't feeling fulfilled and happy in that setting, and it took away a lot of my creativity, and who I was as a person, which is a people person, and a healing person. So I jumped from that and went into finding Sexology and the study of what makes us this dynamic, sexual being which is very misunderstood and under-educated in the field I was working in and exposed to. So finding this when I came to San Antonio, Dr. Melissa Jones who owns Sexology Institute, I showed up and I said: "You're giving me a job, this is where I'm supposed to be." And she did, and it flourished from there and she introduced me to Dr. Patty Britton and Sex Coach U, and that's where I've spent the last two years gaining that base of knowledge and education and how do I be a sex-positive educator and ally, and it's been quite a journey into this. I'm teaching sex-positive education classes at The Sexology Institute in San Antonio, and then in my everyday life influencing whoever I can." M.C.: "And many of you may be connected to Erica's platform on Instagram @s.xuallectual,
