Lauren's second podcast guest is Lewis Steeper, who along with his wife is the founder of the Oliver Steeper Foundation, following the tragic death of their son in 2021.Lewis shares Oliver's story, and how he went to nursery as a fit, healthy nine month old baby who later choked while eating his dinner. After being told that all was well and it wasn't an emergency, Lewis and Zoe arrived at the nursery to find paramedics doing CPR while they were running to the ambulance. Other difficulties ensued. They were unable to travel with him in the ambulance due to COVID restrictions; he may not survive the hour journey to London, because they didn't have the necessary equipment; a helicopter couldn't be used due to lack of equipment. Oliver survived the journey, but the brain damage was already done, so he had zero chance of survival. Lewis shares the harrowing story of what they went through, including how Oliver's kidney was donated to help someone else.During this terrible time, Lewis had a message from Lifevac Europe asking if he'd seen their product. You can imagine his answer! However, due to his curiosity, he eventually looked at the product and then he met the guy who'd messaged him and after that in February 2023, he and Zoe set up their charity, where they provide LifeVacs to nurseries.LifeVacs are anti-choking devices which are non-invasive, and they clear airways by suction. He explains how and when it should be used. This device has saved over 3,800 lives globally and it's 98.9% effective. He also talks about campaigning in parliament about ratios of children to staff and how allowing more children to be in a nursery with less staff members is detrimental to a child's education, well-being and safety. Sadly, this is still ongoing. If you are a parent of a young child in nursery, which is most young working parents these days, then this podcast is a must to listen to.To contact Lewis:Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TOSFoundationUKInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/tosfoundationuk/Website: https://www.tosf.org.uk/If you would like to contact me, you can visit my www.Scottmedia.uk or join my free Facebook group here https://www.facebook.com/groups/prtribe

Despite a rocky start, the Australian market managed to pare back some of its losses, ending with a decline of around 0.75%. US markets also struggled, with fears over Trump’s tariff policies fuelling uncertainty and pushing the S&P 500 down 2.7% and the Nasdaq down 4%. While most sectors suffered, some bright spots included gains in major banks, a slight rebound in mining stocks, and energy companies benefitting from higher coal prices. Looking ahead, US futures hint at a marginal recovery, but uncertainty remains a key theme. (AURN News) — The U.S. job market showed signs of weakening in June, with the unemployment rate climbing to 4.1 percent, up from 3.6 percent a year ago, according to the latest Labor Department report released Friday morning. The economic downturn has hit Black Americans particularly hard. The Black unemployment rate surged to 6.3 percent, a significant increase from 5.6 percent back in April. This compares to 3.5 percent for White workers and 4.9 percent for Hispanic workers, maintaining the unfortunately long-standing pattern of higher joblessness among African Americans. Despite the overall rise in unemployment, the economy added 206,000 jobs in June. Wages saw a modest uptick, with average hourly earnings increasing by 10 cents to $35.00. The average workweek held steady at 34.3 hours for the third consecutive month. This latest report raises concerns about the strength of the labor market and could influence future Federal Reserve decisions regarding the fight against inflation. The Federal Reserve's FOMC minutes recently indicated a long road to recovery when it comes to getting inflation down to the 2 percent target goal. Learn more about your ad choices. Have you ever noticed how hostile the world is today? You go to turn on the news, and the reporter is discussing the latest shootings or the war in Russia. When you scroll through social media, you notice the many arguments people are having over the slightest disagreement. What about your inner self? Do you find your mental health in a primarily negative state? When one bad thing happens to you, do you fixate on it all day? With so much negativity around, how can you change it to thrive in a more positive environment? In this episode of "The Sales Evangelist Podcast," host Donald Kelly speaks with Anthony Iannarino, the author of the book "The Negativity Fast." Tune in to discover the health risks of negativity, the benefits of gratitude, and why you need to grab a copy of this book. Negativity Fast Background After the shutdown and people returning to their regular routines, Anthony noticed how everyone around had a negative aurora around them. Everybody complained about everything, no matter how minor the issue was. Due to this, he conducted research on why humans are more pessimistic and struggle with staying positive. In his book, you'll discover the scientific reasons for negativity and how people can switch to becoming more positive. One thing he noticed while researching and writing the book was that he was writing it for the wrong group of people. He believes mindfulness and knowing the importance of mental health should be taught to children in elementary schools. Doing so will help them remain optimistic as they become adults, and they can struggle less when it comes to their mental health. Why Are People So Negative? Anthony discusses how many people operate on negativity bias in his book. This prevents them from seeing the positives in their lives. He also shares the four elements of negativity bias: Negative potency: Negative things register more emotionally than positive things. Steeper negative gradients: The closer you get to an adverse event, the more damaging it feels to you. Negative dominance: You focus more on something negative, even though something positive just happened to you. Negative differentiation: It's harder for your brain to process negative experiences. He also shares that people are more negative due to being in an ACDC environment. ACDC stands for Accelerated Constant Disruptive Change. Anthony provides an example of AI technology and how everyone saw it as unfavorable based on the ACDC environment analogy. How Do You Stop Complaining? Anthony shares that life expectancy is going down due to fentanyl and suicide. People turn to drugs and believe they need to escape due to not seeing the positives in life and not having anything good to look forward to. His secret to stop complaining is to remember it's bad for his physical and mental health. From his research, he discovered that when someone is a chronic complainer, the hippocampus gland in the brain begins to shrink. As it shrinks, it's harder for you to figure out how to fix your problem. He also discusses how those who complain all of the time ruin their relationships as it pushes people away. Nobody wants to listen to somebody be negative all of the time. Anthony shares that the best thing to do about your problem is to correct it. Importance of Gratitude When you buy his book, you'll notice two pages of citations on the benefits of gratitude. He included the sources because he wanted people to know the scientific research behind gratefulness. Some benefits include better cognitive thinking, reduced chances of heart attack, a stronger immune system, closer relationships, and reduced inflammation within the body. Suppose you want to help others or yourself to practice more gratitude. Anthony says it's best to follow Martin Seligman's advice. At the end of your day, write down three things that went well for you and why they did. After doing it for a month, you'll notice that more good things happen to you than bad things. This will help you shift your focus on the negatives and realize the good within your life. Why You Should Help Others? Anthony shares a story of him buying dogs from the humane society. The workers posted a picture of him on Facebook, calling him an angel. After that, more people came to the organization to buy animals. He also shares a story of why he gave a homeless man $80.00, and his daughter thought he was crazy for doing so. However, it was a wonderful thing that he helped the man. The moral of the stories is that taking the time to help others makes you forget about what you're complaining about. The last piece of advice from Anthony is to remember your time here is short, and you should spend it in a positive state as much as you can. You're the source of your negativity and can shift it to positive. If you are in a negative state of mind most of the time, you must listen to this TSE podcast episode. It's an insightful episode that'll show you how important it is to care for your mental well-being. Also, don't forget to grab your copy of Anthony Iannarino's newest book, "Do A Negativity Fast This Year." “Nobody objected you. They objected to the sales proposition. They don't know you well enough to object you. Bond markets keep pushing higher and curves steeper - but why? It appears that a combination of better than expected macro data and central banks communicating that rates will be held around present levels for longer than expected is leading to a repricing. The risk is that this not only continues but also takes hold of other markets, notably in the European time zone, where only a small amount of the rate cuts have been repriced as of yet. Positioning and developments in the Yen market are also making investors in Europe and the US jittery.Participants:Peter Schaffrik (Desk Strategy), Head of UK/European Rates & EconomicsIzaac Brook (Desk Strategy), US Rates Strategy AnalystSimon Deeley (Desk Strategy), Canada Rates StrategistRobert Thompson (Research), Macro Rates StrategistAdam Cole (Desk Strategy), Chief Currency Strategist* Research Analyst opinions are their published views, independent of those expressed by Desk Analysts

Link to bioRxiv paper: http://biorxiv.org/cgi/content/short/2023.03.19.533364v1?rss=1 Authors: Kalhan, S., Garrido, M. I., Hester, R., Redish, A. D. Abstract: Dysfunction in learning and motivational systems are thought to contribute to addictive behaviors. Previous models have suggested that dopaminergic roles in learning and motivation could produce addictive behaviors through pharmacological manipulations that provide excess dopaminergic signaling towards these learning and motivational systems. Redish 2004 suggested a role based on dopaminergic signals of value prediction error, while Zhang et al. 2009 suggested a role based on dopaminergic signals of motivation. Both these models present significant limitations. They do not explain the reduced sensitivity to drug-related costs/negative consequences, the increased impulsivity generally found in people with a substance use disorder, craving behaviors, and non-pharmacological dependence, all of which are key hallmarks of addictive behaviors. Here, we propose a novel mathematical definition of salience, that combines aspects of dopaminergic function in both, learning and motivation, within the reinforcement learning framework. Using a single parameter regime, we simulated addictive behaviors that the Zhang et al. 2009 and Redish 2004 models also produce but we went further in simulating the downweighting of drug-related negative prediction-errors, steeper delay discounting of drug rewards, craving behaviors and aspects of behavioral/non-pharmacological addictions. The current salience model builds on our recently proposed conceptual theory that salience modulates internal representation updating and may contribute to addictive behaviors by producing misaligned internal representations (Kalhan et al., 2021). Critically, our current mathematical model of salience argues that the seemingly disparate learning and motivational aspects of dopaminergic functioning may interact through a salience mechanism that modulates internal representation updating. The Wheel of the Year turns. Soon Summer will be over, and Autumn looms crisp and crunchy on the horizon. Atcher, Prism, and Tonic visit together regularly to study and practice their skills. Clover often stops by to share stories and help, between work duties at the Bloomiery and Apis Distillery. While the friends study for their Craft Courses, and try not to fret or worry, they also talk through the day and do their best to support each other. They take turns focusing on each other's interests, and offer encouragement; sometimes they tend the gardens, or bake scones, or spin dandylion thread, or dig up stones. Always they share stories and ideas. One such early Autumn day, while they practice skills and help each other rehearse facts for the Conclusions, Tonic speaks up. “I was thinking today about how many tea flavors are out there, and that led me to thinking about the world, and how much Graemes travels. I miss Graemes coming to visit! And…maybe I want an adventure of my own.” Tonic takes a deep breath “I want to find Graemes. I want to go learn new things!”Prism's breeze blows anxiously, gusting around the scent of sea salt and ozone like a tidal wave. “We haven't even completed Professor Tome's course yet; you know Tome gets cross when anybeing leaves a Craft Course early!” “You are right. We need to finish our Craft Courses, and do our best on our Conclusions.” Tonic agrees, in a hesitant way. “Whatever they might mean to us, we started with this training and we should finish it.”Atcher adds the encouragement “Then we can decide what to do from there, after Conclusions are completed!”Over the course of days, and in between courses, the friends continue to help each other study and practice. They fall into a comfortable routine as the days slide into crispness, and Craft Conclusion studies become their sole focus. Some days they study quietly, some days are loud with games of Quiz Catch. And then:It is Conclusion day, and Tonic wakes, slowly unfurling limbs. “Time to break our fast!” The gnome calls out the window to Bramble. Sleepily sipping tea, Tonic takes a cooled cupful out to the blackberry by the door. In the tea garden, Tonic ensures all the plants have plenty of compost and a warm layer of woodchips. The gnome sings and talks while working in the garden, tending every plant. Once done, Tonic grabs the peach pack from the door, swiftly shoves in some supplies, belatedly remembers to brush the garden dirt off, and heads to Professor Tome's Conclusion. It is Conclusion Day, and Atcher wakes with a creak and a groan. The brownie sits bolt upright when a Sudden Idea lands squarely on the bed. Atcher pets the fleeting Idea, and feeds it a sketch and a notion. Dressing in a favorite set of bismuth-hued brogues, Atcher bounds to the door. Then the brownie corkscrews and comes right back in to grab the bronze bag from the bed. Turning several more times, Atcher finally remembers to oil the door hinges, break fast with a hearty stone soup, and bring the birchbark journal along. It is Conclusion Day, and Prism wakes in a fluttering mood, pushing off waves of sheets. The sprite feeds crunchy leaves to the ever-present breeze as it ruffles curtains and blows dust bunnies around the room. Next Prism washes tangled waves, checks on the clouds, and cleans up a messy current. After breaking fast with a bowl of beautifully brined bubbles and grabbing the seafoam satchel, Prism rushes out the door trailing a wake of confidence.A dizzying forever later, after Conclusions, Atcher and Prism wait outside for Tonic, trading tales of their day.“Clover was in the Cluster judging my Conclusion.” Atcher goes on, “They always need more brownie builders at the Bloomiery. – there's so much honey comb to build, flowers to tend, and amber gems to make. Plus pollen distribution, and the hive works! Clover offered me work there. Did you know I had to build two Devices, while timed, over a volcano crevice? And they didn't provide me with any Promising Possibilities! Fortunately, I had brought a Sudden Idea in my birchbark, and it worked perfectly. Alloy even asked to keep it – said they could raise it and use it near the Trellis. My final Conclusion was Builder with strong Inventing. Or was it Inventor with strong Building? The point is, I'm stoked!”Prism is ebullient, describing in detail the harrowing tasks with manticores, no moon, razorfish, and a bleeding coral. “With Rivulets and seaspray everywhere! But I tamed the Seaserpent and managed to get the Whirlpools back into the pen. I was docked points for leaving my tasks to untangle a young kelpie caught in seaweed. Professor Woolen gave me extra marks, though, for a Storm Empath. I still have scratches where the Seaserpent thrashed me during its tantrum. I'm glad to bits that serpent's tempter finally blew over! My Tally took some time, and I was afraid I had washed out.” Prism gushes “My Conclusion was Weather with strong Tidal Tendencies!”Many more students leave, in various states of excitement, sobriety, and in all cases, sometimes nursing wounds. When Prism and Atcher find Tonic sitting in a gloomy sadness, they are worried about their wilted friend. “My Conclusion was inconclusive.” Tonic mopes. “Professor Tome said I would need to stay after to talk, after everyone was done.” Tonic's green puffs are tattered, but the gnome stirs up some courage and asks, “How did you two do?”Before Prism and Atcher can answer, Professor Tome calls Tonic over to speak. Brownie and sprite are anxious for their friend, but wait patiently while the professor is speaking. When the professor walks away, Tonic bubbles at the waiting friends, “I've been Concluded a Steeper! I can officially do Teawork, and was given an application for the Samovar!” Tonic's expression turns bitter as orange peel while continuing, “They noted my knowledge and curiosity, and wrote down ‘Wildling' with distaste. I don't know what that means, but it didn't seem good. And I'm restricted from travel! It was odd, but I think it was a book that bothered them.” Tonic pauses in recollection “ When a book fell out of my pouch, the panel started noting things in my Conclusion. They said I might ‘be a risk' so I'm not allowed to travel for three full moons. The book didn't seem to be anything special; it was just an old thing Graemes left at my house. I must have grabbed it by accident this morning.”Atcher tries to direct focus on the good and exclaims “I'm so excited to know your blends will soon be in all the Tea Houses. And an application to the Samovar?! Exclusive! I will construct a gadget to move mountains just to visit you at the Samovar.” Prism joins in with a gusty sigh “I want to see your tin design for the tea you sell at the Samovar! Do you think they will really require special Clickfish to serve the tea in bubbles of fresh and salt water?”Cheering up from the friends' enthusiasm, Tonic's mood visibly lifts. The three friends celebrate their successes with dancing and singing silly songs, and cheering each other on. While eating candied kelp and Raincakes that Prism brought, Tonic holds high some kelp, and cheers “To Conclusions and new beginnings!” They all heartily applaud. The trio of friends joke and play stories of their Conclusions, reenacting their favorite scenes. In the middle of a bite Atcher laughs and snorts a morsel of cake, and consequently coughs, sneezies, and causes much concern. The friends pat the brownie's back, offer water to drink, generally try to help. With eyes still watering, Atcher, Tonic, and Prism decide that is enough festivity for one day, and head home in bright moods. The sprite, brownie, and gnome live their lives and forget about finding Graemes for a while. The brownie visits the Bloomiery, and works on Building skills. The sprite studies up on Tides, and trains the breezes that always blow around the lake. The gnome tends the tea gardens, and sends in the application to the Samovar. Grand Plans and Wild Ideas melt away into mundane tasks. And our story could end here: the Marzipandas get fed honey and almonds, the tea plants get harvested, gears get cut, tides turn, and the friends live regular lives. But, one day, as Tonic crushes up some particularly recalcitrant Anise seeds, something different happens.
No signs of Covid curve flattening, steeper rise in number of cases feared
One key question we ask ourselves as coaches at FasCat, is if the athlete is responding to the training we have prescribed. Aka, are they getting faster? Our favorite “experiment” to answer this question is a good old fashioned 20 minute power based field test, which is free and can be conducted anywhere and anytime appropriate. Reality Cycling In a former life and career, I conducted hundreds of experiments as a research scientist in biotechnology and academic medical research laboratories designed to answer specific questions about the research projects I was working on. Spinal cord research, cancer, and novel cancer cures to name a few. At FasCat, we still perform “experiments” designed to evaluate our athletes' current physiology as it relates to their cycling performance. Still to this day the most practical, most relevant test of all is a 20 minute power based field test. With the exception of the gold standard, 40k time trial. 1463Increase your FTP with our Hill Climb Intervals Training Plan. In the past we have conducted MLSS tests in an exercise physiology lab, but the reality is that cyclists need to test two to three times per year which is cost prohibitive and not practical for many athletes. Plus indoor power tends to be slightly less that outdoor power. A properly conducted field test cuts to the core of cycling performance and gives a great physiological assessment of the athlete (1), making it an indispensable tool for our coaches or the self coached athlete. How Do I Conduct a Field Test? In essence, a 20 minute power based field test is riding as fast as hard as you can for exactly 20 minutes. Just like a 20 minute time trial. Record your average power output and use that number as a benchmark and to determine your wattage based zones*. When available we'll recommend a steady grade hill free of stop signs, descents and any section of road that requires the athlete to stop pedalling. Ideally a 2-3% steady grade hill like this Strava segment. Steeper climbs tend to bog athletes' cadence down which skews the test results. Conversely, some athletes make greater power uphill than they can on the flats. Whichever you choose, it is absolutely imperative that you ensure your test is repeatable, accurate and reliable. Apples – apples. Here's how: For the road cyclist and mountain biker an all out effort similar to your time trial pace of 20 minutes elicits a physiological response that has been found to be “the single greatest determinant of cycling performance in mass start cycling events” (1). We have experimented with 60 minute Field Tests and honestly not that many athletes can sustain that sort of mental effort for the full 60 minutes. If they can its a mental match we don't want to burn. On the other hand if we know the athlete can do a 60 minute field test once a year, it is the coaches discretion to prescribe one. It is especially beneficial to compare 60 minute field test data to ~ 60 minute 40k time trial data. When choosing the roads for your field test let the terrain you have available dictate the specifics of your test (working within the 20 min range). After all, going for it from the bottom of a climb all the way to the top is more stimulating than working off your stopwatch. It may even be specific to your target event(s). For instance, a climber targeting a race with a decisive climb will want to specifically perform their test on a climb similar to the one found in the race. Heck, if you live nearby the race course, test on the race course! Conversely you may not even see a climb longer than one or two minutes where you live. That's cool; then find a stretch of road to measure how far you can ride in 20 minutes. If this is the case, pay special attention to the wind and humidity which will affect your aerodynamics and thus time. As long as you come back to the very same piece of road and start from the very same spot, under the same test conditions, your test will be repeatable. *We take the average 20 minute power and subtract 5 – 10% to arrive at an athlete's 60 minute “Functional Threshold Power” or FTP. As a generally rule of thumb we use 5% for slow twitch aerobic athletes and 10% for athletes that have a well developed anaerobic system. We'll subtract 7.5% if we don't know about the athlete's anaerobic capacity. Repeatability Whatever you have nearby, find a stretch of road free of stops signs, intersections and corners — anything that would slow you down. In essence: go as hard as you can! Don't hold back one bit, go for it! Now here's the catch: remember everything about this test and duplicate it for your next test. Items to keep the same (& ensure repeatability) include: Your powermeter! Calibrated of course. Different powermeters unfortunately produce different results Your bike: weight (including water bottles), body position, tires, tire pressure. Your kit: jersey, shorts, helmet – – essentially you want to have the same aerodynamic characteristics from test to test. Wind and weather conditions: test on a windless day under the same humidity – air density affects aerodynamics too! Temperature: avoid testing between extreme temperature differences. Come into the test rested, properly fueled, well hydrated with tons of motivation (you gotta go full gas!) Perform the exact same warm up before each field test. In a nutshell keep everything the same except for your fitness – that is the variable you are testing for. Being able to compare tests and controlling for all other variables except your physiology or fitness allows you and your coach to interpret the efficacy of your training. These details may seem picky but are necessary to draw accurate comparisons. Your results: Test at the beginning of your training and then again after 8-12 weeks to measure your improvement. If your power goes up, guess what? Your training is working, keep going. If your power goes down or stays the same, guess what? Your training is not working and you need to change what you are doing. Its as simple as that. All of our Six Week $49 Training Plans culminate with a field test so you can measure how much faster you've become! Test not once, but twice, or more If you have a new powermeter or are beginning a training program, perform a “baseline” field test for two reasons: • To determine your wattage based training zones • To establish a benchmark to measure future improvement For a good test ‘performance', approach the day with a minimum of 24 hours rest and go absolutely as hard as you can during the test. If you don't, the results will be inconclusive. Record the average power and continue with your next training cycle. Come back to the very same field test in 6-8 weeks under the same rested conditions and go for it again. By comparing the two average power outputs, you will be able to draw useful conclusions about your training. i.e. is it working? Test periodically throughout the year (we recommend no more than 3 times*) and carefully record your results in your training log. This will paint a big picture that is extremely useful when plotting out your next move and planning your next winning season. Regular testing is THE BEST way to track performance and we do not recommend using mean maximal, mFTP or power profile charts that cull non “as hard as you can go” power outputs. By performing 20 minute tests, you'll also be able to compare this data with race data. For example, time trials where you went as hard as you could for 20 minutes or breakaways and long climbs. Summary • Go as hard as you can for the full 20 minutes • Upload your data and analyze the average power output • Make sure the test is 100% repeatable to eliminate all variables except your average power output improvement • For indoor 20 minutes tests, see our indoor cycling 20 minute tip Finally, testing yourself is a great start, but remember the ultimate measure of performance is performance itself. So get out there in a race, go hard, and duke it out! For further reading, please read the “Determining Threshold Power” training tip on VeloNews. Reference E.F. Coyle, A.R. Coggan, M.K. Landaas & Company newsletter April edition now available. Advisors on This Week’s Show BOB LANDAAS KYLE TETTING (with Jason Scuglik) Week in Review (March 23-27, 2020) SIGNIFICANT ECONOMIC INDICATORS & REPORTS Monday No major announcements Tuesday The U.S. housing expansion continued in February, according to new-home sales figures from the Commerce Department. The annual rate of sales declined 4.4% from January, which had been revised to the highest level since May 2007. The February pace of 765,00 houses was up 14.3% from the year before and stayed above the pre-recession level for the ninth month in a row. Wednesday Led by demand for cars and trucks, durable goods orders rose 1.2% in February, the fourth increase in five months. Excluding the volatile transportation category, orders declined 0.6%, the Commerce Department reported. Compared to the year before, overall orders gained 0.4% and rose 0.5% excluding transportation. A measure of business investment fell 0.8% from January but was up 1.5% from February 2019. Thursday The four-week moving average for initial unemployment claims rose by a record number, more than quadrupling the average from the week before. The Labor Department cited job displacements related to the COVID-19 virus for a one-week spike in claims of nearly 3.3 million, which was more than four time the previous record in data going back to 1967. Economists suggest the claims undercount employment repercussions from the pandemic because many workers don’t qualify for unemployment insurance. The Bureau of Economic Analysis confirmed earlier estimates that the gross domestic product grew at a 2.1% annual rate in the last three months of 2019. The government upwardly revised consumer spending to a growth rate of 1.8%, which was offset by a greater-than-estimated decline in business investments. The Federal Reserve’s favorite measure of inflation indicated prices still were not growing fast enough to meet the Fed’s target of 2%. For the year, GDP grew 2.3%, the lowest since 2016, when it hit 2%. Friday By far the biggest driver of the U.S. economy, consumer spending rose a mild 0.2% in February, according to the Bureau of Economic Analysis. Meanwhile, personal income gained 0.6%, raising the personal saving rate to 8.2%, the highest since last March. That was above the average of 7.3% since the Great Recession but short of the 61-year average of 8.8%. The same report showed the Fed’s favorite inflation marker rising 1.8% year to year, eclipsing the 1.6% average since the recession but below the 3.2% average since 1960. As expected, consumer sentiment took a nosedive in March, experiencing the fourth-largest decline in nearly 50 years of data. Steeper free falls accompanied the 2008 financial collapse, the 1980 recession and Hurricane Katrina, according to the University of Michigan. An economist with the survey said fallout from COVID-19 could send sentiment to the most severe two-month plunge ever. Economists consider sentiment a driving force for consumer spending. It's time for another Third Watch episode in one of the most memorable episodes you'll ever see as we look at the 15th episode of the 5th season No More, Forever. Why is this Dorvell's favourite episode in the history of Third Watch? Has any other major TV show ever had such a drastic change with a major character over a long run like Third Watch does with Doc? Could this storyline with Doc be based on someone real? Does the Ally storyline really belong in this episode? How great is a Nicholas Turturro's acting despite it being a storyline that was never that special and shouldn't be in this episode? How great is the editing in the opening of the episode? How did they promote this episode to really get people in? Why doesn't the person downstairs call in the gunshots when Doc starts firing? Just how shocking is the moment when Doc shoots Steeper? Should they have done this episode 24 style and done it in real time? Do we like Davis randomly snapping at Cruz? Is it great to see another random character interaction between two characters that don't ever get to interact? Is it right that they don't kill Doc off? How did Michael Beach not get an Emmy nomination for this episode? And do we have the number one moment from this season in this episode? It's a powerful one that you will remember forever, so listen and ready yourself.★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★
Do you sometimes feel Blessed and Bewildered? Well now you can listen to us talk about an episode of the same name as we chat about the 13th episode of the 5th season of Third Watch! How have we lost our only listener? How can we still not like Steeper even though he is sort of right? How great is Holly? How weird is happy Doc and the fact that Doc wants to have a party? Why is the guy at Ally's restaurant like a character from The Simpsons? How great is it to have Adam Beach back for one more appearance? How happy are we that Patty D is back and how perfect is she as Bosco's mother? Is Kim unfairly put in a lot of shit this episode? Why doesn't Cruz get invited Doc's party? Who is the douchenozzle detective guy? What has happened to Kylie and is she ok? How is dirty kid involved in the episode? How great is the camera work around Doc when he confronts Steeper? How great is it to hear Dorvell 'having a whinge' more so than Ben for once? How great are the subtle moments from Doc in this episode in the lead up to next week? How great does Anthony Ruivivar sell Carlos and not knowing how to deal with a family? Do we like Monroe's quick turn around or is it annoying? And how great is the scene with Christian at the end of Doc's party? It's all leading into a big episode next week so get into it!★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★
We're past the half way point of the 5th season of Third Watch as we look at the 13th episode Sleeping Dogs Lie. How nice is the opening of the episode? How great it is to have an ambitious character? If we hate Paul Michael Glaser's character so much can we appreciate the fact that at least we have Paul Michel Glaser in Third Watch? How is Ben relating this episode to another season 1 episode? Is it a cliche to have a character leaving in danger so much as Jimmy was in the episode? How much do we believe that Jimmy is going to die in this episode? How great is the music in this episode? Why does Eddie Cibrian seem to be a better actor in Third Watch than anything else he has ever been on? Is Jimmy actually 35? Is Kim right to be pissed at Jimmy how she is? Is it great to see Holly getting so much screentime? Why doesn't Dorvell feel that Steeper doesn't bring much to the show? How is Ben offending the blind once again? How are there a couple of potential top 5 moments in this episode? Is Kim right for breaking up with Jimmy how she does? Should they have fleshed out more with Monroe being the cop 'that everyone talks about'? And what is the deal with Jimmy's bottle of hot sauce? It's an emotional episode, so get into it!★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★

This ride was completely different. As I've never ridden this uphill before in "race conditions" it was a challange to pace myself correctly. Steeper and flatter sections made it hard to riding consistently at the maximum possible. Having a heart rate monitor helped a lot to be consistent. My aim was to push as hard as I could for this specific distance which meant I had to perform in my maxmimum hearrate zone. When I finsish the ride I checked the stats. The average heart rate through out the ride completely blew me away. .......................................................................................
