At just 27 years old, Austin Szemacs crossed one major item off his bucket list. The Streetsboro graduate was recently named baseball coach at Bryant & Stratton College in Solon. Szemacs is quick to dole out credit for his quick rise, including to longtime Rockets baseball coach Chris Scisciani, who he said helped inspire him to become a coach. Szemacs also notes how Jake Plata, his predecessor at Bryant & Stratton, and Ben Simon helped push his coaching career along since he graduated from Malone University. “Playing for Coach Scisciani was the big start for me wanting to pursue this after high school and after college,” Szemacs said. “Then between Jake and Ben, my career has taken off because of those people, and I give a lot of credit to them and the selflessness that they had. They didn't have to do what they did. and all that kind of stuff just is the reason my career is kind of taking off the way it has.” --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/baseballbluebook/support

This episode is the first in the Between2BlueDevils Alumni Edition. Throughout the summer I will be interviewing teachers and alumni who are changing the world!! Our first episode features Bryon Cook, who graduated from THS in 2013. After high school he attended Baldwin Wallace, where he played football, and majored in Chemisty, and minored in Math. Following an extremely successful college career Bryon decided to pursue his dream of playing professional football. He worked extremely hard and ended up playing arena football for the Cedar Rapids River Kings and the Lehigh Valley Steel Hawks. Following his brief football career Bryon entered the coaching world where he currently coaches the wide receivers for the Barberton Magics, under Coach Tony Gotto. He also coaches middle school basketball, and currently works as a trainer at the Power House Gym in Streetsboro, Ohio. In his spare time Bryon is the co-host of his own pod cast called Cardelli N' Cook, a podcast all about professional wrestling. His story is a great one. But his story of life after high school isn't the only reason we chatted. Bryon is a passionate and motivated black man. Bryon shares with us what it is like growing up as a black man in America. We talk about some tough issues in this episode. And this is just the beginning. As a white male I have so much to learn and I am thankful Bryon answered questions honestly and passionatley. I hope this episode sparks thougths and conversations. I know my interview with Bryon has resonated with me since the day we met. It is time to listen. It is time to think. It is time to change. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/mark-horner/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/mark-horner/support

The LORD called the young Samuel but he could not answer the LORD because he did not know the LORD. The text states that he did not know the LORD because the word of the LORD had not yet been revealed to him. Would you think that knowing the LORD is important? Jesus prayed in the Garden to know the LORD is eternal life, but how are people to know the LORD? It’s clear that people can be close. Look at Samuel, he was ministering in the Tabernacle, surrounded day and night by the beautiful religious things of the Tabernacle, but did not know the LORD. So what makes the difference in knowing the LORD and not? Find out today in this episode.
