Music Studio Startup: Helping music teachers thrive as entrepreneurs
If you've ever wished you could travel, but have told yourself that you can't take time off or it's too expensive or whatever, this interview will have you rethinking those assumptions. Today, I'm talking to a returning guest about how he has designed his studios, plural, to be able to take extended backpacking trips every year. We talk about budgeting for the trips, how he preps his students and teachers, and how he keeps things on track while he's away. Here's my conversation with Noah. A full transcript and resources from this episode can be found at MusicStudioStartup.com/episode157.

Welcome aboard, Bruce Tretter! We met years ago and finally reconnected to share his work. And what a powerhouse Bruce is! It's amazing to me how some people are just made to tinker, design, and try to make things happen. Like Bruce, who moved from making cycling apparel that tries to help cyclists be seen, to his launching Safe Streets for All as a business-supported initiative, to helping vets learn critical cooking skills. Bruce is powering through and you're invited to learn how he makes every second count. Just fantastic! *For the full YouTube episode, visit: https://youtu.be/8XHpL1d-hvE **** More from Bruce Tretter: - Sportswear and Cycling Apparel: http://www.breitzwear.com/ - Bikewalk North Carolina: https://bikewalknc.wildapricot.org/ - Gotta Eat Can't Cook: http://www.gotta-eat.com/ **** More from Shooting it RAW: * Websites: Site: https://www.shooting-it-raw.com/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/shootingitraw Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/shootingitraw/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/ran-elfassy/ - Amazon Music: https://music.amazon.ca/podcasts/a92caaa1-6f09-473f-bd00-9f2e9000b3fa/SHOOTING-IT-RAW-WITH-RAN-ELFASSY - Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/shooting-it-raw/id1495187250?ign-mpt=uo%3D4 - Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/6p3NoR69bLG4lZ52FKE2dR - Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/RanElfassy - YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6sqti7YyKrSNUdgw3ONSFg/videos

Music Studio Startup: Helping music teachers thrive as entrepreneurs
Today I'm talking to Noah Tretter, a guitar teacher who branched out from his private studio in Oregon to start a virtual multi-teacher studio during COVID. One of the unique things about this studio, is the way its founder has tapped into charter school programs as a way of building the student base and making it possible for families to use educational funds provided by their state to pay for music lessons. If this sounds intriguing, listen on. A full transcript and resources from this episode can be found at MusicStudioStartup.com/episode116.

Just after Jean-Nickolaus Tretter came out as openly gay in the early 1970s, he went to school at the University of Minnesota. At the time, he wanted to specialize in gay and lesbian anthropology, but he couldn't find the faculty support he needed and dropped out. He spent his life as a vocal advocate for LGBTQ people and he collected items that told the living history of LGBTQ communities. Jean Tretter passed away on Friday. But his legacy lives on at the university where he found so little support in the 1970s. The University of Minnesota is now home to Tretter's collection. It is an archive of material that is a living history of LGBTQ life. A few months ago our producer Britt Aamodt spoke with the collection's curator, Aiden Bettine, about it.
Eric Metcalf joined Baskin and Phelps today to discuss the Browns upcoming matchup with the Bengals in Cincinnati. Who was the team Metcalf felt like they always had a good chance to beat during his time with the Browns? Metcalf explains why he believes the Browns should lean into their strengths on offense. Why Deshaun Watson is a good fit for the offense? How does Metcalf feel about J.C. Tretter advocating for the removal of turf for natural grass and how that changes the approach for offensive guys.

Locked On Steelers – Daily Podcast On The Pittsburgh Steelers
Chris Carter of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, hosts the Locked on Steelers podcast. The Pittsburgh Steelers' offensive line has a major guard problem with James Daniels and Kendrick Green. But is the answer to trade for J.C. Tretter? And can Kevin Dotson get healthy enough to fix the problem? The answer might need a move from Omar Khan, or just more creative scheming for the Steelers mobile quarterbacks in Mitch Trubisky, Kenny Pickett or Mason Rudolph.Speaking of Rudolph, the calls to trade him for a draft pick miss the mark. Chris Carter sees that as a bad idea, and he references what the Steelers went through in 2019 with Rudolph and Devlin Hodges when Ben Roethlisberger got hurt. Rudolph should be a "break glass in case of emergency QB." And that's fine. Also, Robert Spillane, Chase Claypool, Mason Cole and even Devin Bush were players who looked better on a film review of the Steelers' preseason win over the Jacksonville Jaguars than they did live.CALL INTO THE SHOW AT 412-223-6644 or if international, e-mail your audio message to LOSTEELERSTOPICBAG@GMAIL.COMFollow Chris Carter on Twitter: @CarterCritiques.Theme music is 'Soul Kick' by Ceddy P, and 'Too Easy' by Nerdboy.
The answer might need a move from Omar Khan, or just more creative scheming for the Steelers mobile quarterbacks in Mitch Trubisky, Kenny Pickett or Mason Rudolph. Speaking of Rudolph, the calls to trade him for a draft pick miss the mark. Chris Carter sees that as a bad idea, and he references what the Steelers went through in 2019 with Rudolph and Devlin Hodges when Ben Roethlisberger got hurt. Rudolph should be a "break glass in case of emergency QB." And that's fine. Also, Robert Spillane, Chase Claypool, Mason Cole and even Devin Bush were players who looked better on a film review of the Steelers' preseason win over the Jacksonville Jaguars than they did live.
