We all have it, some of us use it, but few use it to its full potential. I'm referring to the measurement of end-tidal carbon dioxide (ETCO2). The objective of this presentation is how to tell from those “expellings” the best way to optimize survival after cardiac arrest (CA). Our objectives will be to measure and use ETCO2, as an invaluable guide to resuscitation care. Read the full article here.

Welcome back listener's! Charlie has a great episode for you featuring a guest reader! Welcome Alyssa to the mic, she reads a story she wrote for class about her struggles with heroine addiction and how that effected those she loves the most. The format of this episode is a little different with a few sidebar conversations between Charlie and Alyssa; the second reading is more of an elaboration on a essay that she wrote about her experience with heroine through the eyes of her family. The second reading is also a conceptual attempt at our new podcast called "Chatterbox". Chatterbox is a eavesdrop podcast where you can listen in on the random conversations happening between Charlie, Alyssa, and various guest speakers as they delve into topics (and get off topic) sharing opinions, ideas, epiphany's, and laughs. So keep a look out for the announcement of "Chatterbox" Our JSAB episode comes with trigger warnings about addictions, the harsh reality of detox, and relapse. The hosts utilize strong, unfiltered language and descriptions. This is for the open minded and open hearted, and especially for those struggling with a addiction who need to know you are not alone, there are people who love you and there is help. Michael Telling came from one of the wealthiest families in all of England. When he married Californian beauty Monika Zumsteg, they moved into an opulent estate in Buckinghamshire. The couple’s life looked like the stuff dreams were made of. Then one day, out of the blue, Monika left. Michael hired a private investigator to find his wife, to no avail. Five months later, 170 miles away from the Telling home, a motorist stumbled upon a grisly scene in the woods. Special Thanks to Sally and John from True Crime Investigators UK. This Telling was performed on April of 2012 at Back to the Grind, with Mama Walks on Water contributing powerful vocals during one of the stories. In Seat of the World, we go from ocean to dessert to the end of all worlds, where there is a tavern. In this tavern at worlds' end, nothing happens, just the stories that are told. In this Telling, we witness the voyage to the Tavern; the story of Coyote Girl as she became one with the vast; the songs of Isis through the dessert of the real; the Growl of the Dark Beast; and the unending sacrifice of Xipe Totec. You can subscribe and download all the Tellings in iTunes, Stitcher, TuneIn, and Google Play. Don't forget to rate us! Please help us support these efforts. There is a tavern at the end of time. After all experiences are past and gone, and all worlds fade as dreams by the light of day, we meet at the last place where stories are told. This is the first Telling of The Tavern at Worlds' End series. All the Tellings are performed live. Therefore, there are bound to be noises and events not programmed or controlled. The Telling is best experienced when listening in a quiet space without doing anything else. Enjoy, and don't forget to subscribe to this podcast and rate it! Dr Katherine Butler Schofield speaks at the South Asia Seminar on March 8th, 2016 How do we write histories of the ephemeral: of affective and sensory experience, of devotional states and journeys, of the live performance of music and dance--of the tangible yet transient texture of the experiential moment? More critically, how do we write such histories when the moment has long passed into silence? Can emotion, devotion, and the arts tell us critical things about the harder-edged worlds of political, economic and social history that we couldn’t otherwise access? What is the relationship between the aesthetic, the affective, the ethical, and the political in South Asian history? And how do we track and account for changes in the texture of ephemeral experience over time? In this paper, Katherine Butler Schofield will be considering these questions in relation to music and listening in the late Mughal world, c.1748–1858. In 1691, the Mughal notable Sher Khan Lodi put the dilemma most succinctly: that "it is impossible to capture the essence of music in pen and ink on the surface of the page." All we have left, he wrote, are the "sibilant scratches of a broken pen." Nevertheless, he, and many others like him, tried their best over and over again to put down in words their own histories of the ephemeral as it pertained to musical experience. The speaker's recent European Research Council project has uncovered a vast and rich archive of writings on music in the late Mughal world, hitherto almost entirely unexplored. Through a series of short examples she will discuss some of the new genres of writing on music that emerged in Hindustan c.1748–1858 and explore their wider historical implications. In doing so, she will also evaluate the act of writing on music at this time: what it entailed for late Mughal and early colonial men and women; what they thought was important, or possible, to record in writing; and why. Katherine Butler Schofield is a historian of music in the Mughal empire and the colonial Indian Ocean. Through stories about ill-fated courtesans, overweening ustads, and captivated patrons, she writes on Mughal sovereignty and selfhood, friendship and desire, sympathy and loss, and power, worldly and strange. She has just finished a 1.2M Euro European Research Council grant (2011–15) on the ways in which music and dance were transformed c.1750–1900 in the transition to colonialism in India and the Malay world. Her first book, with Francesca Orsini, is Tellings and texts: music, literature, and performance in North India (Open Book, 2015).

Inside Scoop Live and Reader views present Tina Field Howe as she talks about her new book "Alysa of the Fields: Book One in the Tellings of Xunar-kun." Hidden deep in the mountains of planet Xunar-kun, the Field Folk clan believed themselves to be the only remaining people, otherthan the distant Trailmen, to inhabit their devastated world. They were wrong. In realizing her individuality, Alysa - a young woman of the Folk -risks all to save her people from certain peril. As a result, long-hidden truths are revealed, age-old hatreds are healed, and Alysa leads her people to a new way of life.
