Cameron is the head coach of Washburn University, the Ichabods. We sit down and talk about his roots in track and field, how he became a decathlete, as well as his alumni status as an Emporia State grad assistant coach. We learn of his time at Limestone College as the head coach, travelling through west Texas before landing as the head coach of Washburn. Uniquely, Cameron became the head coach at Washburn before there was a program. He has literally built the program up from the very first athlete. Along the way he helped drive the creation of a $20 million indoor facility that rivals the best in the country. We talk about the decision to design the facility as well as his thought process in researching and choosing his surface provider and equipment manufacturer.

Mary Dallas is a Greek actress from Chicago who decided to move out to Southern California and pursue her dream of creating an acting career for herself at the age of 48. This is certainly not your typical story of starting out in Hollywood, but Mary has put in the work to courageously learn all she can about her craft, and take no prisoners when it comes to hustling auditions. You have to respect her focus and determination when you hear her tell her story, and to be fair, a lot of young actors could learn a great deal from Mary's mindset when it comes to approaching auditions, castings, rejections and the skills it takes to work. Uniquely, coming in as a more mature woman has also given Mary somewhat of a casting advantage, sure this industry is flooded with young ingenues, but there is always a need for a crazy neighbor, mom, aunt, piano teacher, school teacher, and so on, especially now with more streaming content than you can possibly comprehend. Mary knows this well and works to keep her skills in top shape while she gets audition after audition, and currently with her role in the upcoming season two of Barbie Rehab, with a type that has fewer and fewer actresses out there looking to scoop up those roles. In this Relay Chain exclusive, Joe Petrowski (Technical Integrations Lead at Web3 Foundation) and Parity's Úrsula O'Kuinghttons speak with former President of Estonia Toomas Hendrik Ilves. Uniquely placed as one of few presidents who knows how to code, Ilves was responsible for implementing the digitization of the Estonian government, one of the first countries to adopt blockchain tech, and many other processes in the country from voting to registering a business. They discuss how Estonia, one of the smallest countries in the world, became one of the most entrepreneurial and tech-savvy, what led Estonia to go ‘digital', declare access to the internet as a basic human right, and mediate data integrity for their digital records via blockchain. Ilves talks about his concerns for the internet given its weaponization and populist exploitation, the problematic state of freedom of expression and accountability online, and governance of online communities beyond nation-states. In today's episode, we're joined by Zach Bitter, an American ultra-marathoner. In May of 2020, Zach ran 100 miles on a treadmill in 12 hours, setting a world record. Today's episode will dive into all things ultramarathons, running, endurable bodies and Zach's diet and training regimen. As a kid, Zach participated in various sports, eventually realizing his gift for running. In 2010 he jumped into a 50-miler and was hooked from then on. By the end of the next year, he was training specifically for ultramarathons, though he enjoys switching up his routine from time to time. Zach held two 100 mile records in running. The first being 11 hours 19 minutes in August 2019 and the second in May 2020, 100 miles on a treadmill in 12 hours and 9 minutes. Having to match the pace of the machine was the most difficult aspect of his treadmill ultramarathon. Then, Zach discusses the mental demons that can arise over the course of an ultramarathon. In order to make it to the end, the pace of a 100-miler has to be much slower than your single mile or even marathon pace. Thus, the mentality differs greatly when running such long distances at a slower pace, allowing for the mind to wander much more. Nick offers his own experience realizing the importance of pacing and not pushing yourself to be as fast as you can be. His slower morning runs are his most creative part of the day . Zach has learned to use the following week or two after an ultramarathon to reflect on the experience. Uniquely, because of the length of ultramarathons, it's rare to actually train for the full distance. He likes to incorporate block training into his routine, focusing on specific quality sessions back to back. Depending on the type of race he has coming up, Zach says his training varies quite a lot in terms of intensity. About 8-10 weeks before a race is when he really begins to focus on things he will be doing during the race. He says the most difficult period of training is during the very beginning coming off from an off season. But, his body catches up to him and he quickly adapts to the regimen. Zach tends to maintain a diet higher in fats and lower in carbohydrates. On average, his diet consists of 10% carbs, 20% protein and the rest fats. On days before he works out harder, he finds it beneficial to incorporate more carbohydrates into his diet. In preparations for lower intensity higher volume races, such as 100 milers, he sees the implications of carbohydrates or even a strict keto diet. During his college years, he began looking more into the scientific aspects of the foods he ate. Around 2011 he started getting more interested in a low carb diet when he noticed irregular sleeping and energy patterns. It took time to figure out what kind of foods worked best for him. He's experimented with diets ranging from plant based low carb to animal based low carb and everything in between. Everyone's gut and microbiome is different, so it's important to find out what really works for you instead of basing your diet on someone else's. In Zach's opinion, maintaining peak-season fitness isn't sustainable year-round. During his off seasons when he isn't training for a specific race, he listens to his body and doesn't push himself. During a race he is typically at his leanest, so he doesn't mind gaining a few pounds when off season rolls around. His training foundation remains mostly the same throughout the year, and is just tailored a bit differently towards any upcoming races. He averages about 100 miles per week factoring in both on and off seasons. He is cautious of over training, believing it to pull away from your potential down the road. Daniel S. Coyle: When Functional Becomes Sentimental Menacing monkeys. Peeled bananas. Bad-tempered bears. Uniquely original Munnies. Daniel S. Coyle's whimsical, toy-inspired aesthetic in concert with mind-blowing skills on the torch have earned the artist a hefty 116K following on Instagram. The artist recently celebrated 10 years of being a full-time pipe maker with an exhibition at Ziggy's in Huntington Beach, California. Decade Arcadia featured new work, collabs and early pieces from Coyle's personal collection. He says: “Often my work is playful in nature and can remind you of toys. I guess I like to bring the viewer (or user) back to their childhood and also remind them to not take life so seriously. Why pipes? Making an object into a pipe will allow someone to bond with that object. They will have experiences with it, develop a relationship with it, and in time it will become more than a piece in their collection—it will become sentimental.” Coyle began blowing glass in 2003 while taking a workshop with artist Jerry Kelly. As his interest in the craft developed, he pursued education in glass working techniques at Salem Community College, the only school in the US with a program dedicated to scientific glassblowing. Graduating in 2006, the artist began his career as a laboratory glassblower for a chemical company, leaving after five years to pursue his artistic vision in glass pipes. Coyle's work has been displayed in galleries around the world, and has been seen in print and web publications including Vice, Huffington Post, NY Times, and in the books This Is A Pipe and his self-published Munny Project book. Now residing in Western Massachusetts, he works alongside some of the state's top pipe makers. In March 2021, Coyle participated in a virtual seminar sponsored by Hunterdon Art Museum, Clinton, New Jersey. Pipe Art: Understudied Glass considered the glass pipe as a fluid work of art fundamental to the art history of glass. Sometimes demoted by law or public opinion to the category of “paraphernalia,” the artwork of the pipe nonetheless defies its sometimes categorization as sub-sculpture. Celebrated artists Kim Thomas and Coyle, whose works were featured in the accompanying exhibition, and Luken Sheafe, whose artist name is SALT, presented their pipes. Joined by Susie J. Silbert, curator at the Corning Museum of Glass, the artists further contextualized their work within the field of pipe-making. Post Covid, 2021 is shaping up to be an exciting year for Coyle, including a residence at Pilchuck in July. In September, you'll find the artist at Molten Art Classic, Southern California's premiere glass flameworking event. Team leader, Adam Whobrey, also known as Hoobs, handpicks some of the top borosilicate glass artists in the world to create an exquisite one-of-a-kind piece together at Classic 33 Studios in Huntington Beach. It is the largest collaborative art event to unify top borosilicate glass artists from around the world, all adding their respective influences and unique flair to the collective piece.

Isaiah 1–12 forms the first major division of the book; Isaiah 11–12 closes that division with a picture of the ideal king and the changes he will bring, with the Lord being praised in Zion. There is a rapid move from the destruction of Assyria in Isaiah 10 to the establishment of the kingdom of God in Isaiah 11. The two are obviously connected theologically: it is God’s initiative that effects both. Nevertheless, there is in Isaiah’s prophecy a massive foreshortening of the historical process. In the vision by which he was called to prophetic ministry, Isaiah saw a seed springing from the stump, the remnant of Israel (Isa. 6:13). Now Assyria falls like a mighty forest before the ax of God (Isa. 10:33–34)—and a shoot springs from the stump of Jesse (Isa. 11:1), i.e., from the Davidic dynasty. If in Isaiah 4:2 the Branch referred to the remnant, or to the Lord’s saving work through the remnant, here it explicitly refers to the Messiah. “Messiah” simply means “anointed one,” so every anointed king in the Davidic line was in this sense a “messiah.” But only the ultimate Messiah could fill the slot described here. Uniquely empowered by the Spirit of God (Isa. 11:2–3a; cf. John 3:34), his rule is impeccably righteous (Isa. 11:3b–5), the antithesis of the corruption in the nation that has attracted God’s judgment. So perfect and absolute will be Messiah’s rule that death and destruction will die: the ultimate state he introduces will be ideal (Isa. 11:7–9).Verses 10–16, the second part of chapter 11, unpack some of the symbolic elements of the preceding verses. God’s covenant people are regathered to him (Isa. 11:11–16), but surrounding them are the nations who will also rally to him (Isa. 11:10). The banner raised over this vast assembly (Isa. 11:10, 12) marks Messiah’s rule, “and his place of rest will be glorious” (Isa. 11:10). At one level, the “remnant” thus regathered refers to the survivors of historic Israel (Isa. 11:12), but in the prophetic foreshortening they are also the generation of the elect and faithful people of God in the last days. The praise of chapter 12 is directed toward “the Holy One of Israel,” one of Isaiah’s titles for God. In chapter 11 the Messiah is among his people and his reign has begun; in chapter 12 God is among his people and is praised. It is hard not to see that the presence of the Messiah and the presence of God are one and the same, just as in Isaiah 9:2–7 the Davidic king is also the mighty God. Here is the consummation of salvation. “The LORD, the LORD, is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation. With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation” (Isa. 12:2–3). — “Some of us live with great psychological freedom, at ease and with joy. For many, however, it is not easy being human.” In his latest work, Malcolm provides strategies using mindfulness to manage stress, anxiety, and depression, as well as ways to cultivate psychological wellbeing. Uniquely, it combines a traditional Buddhist approach to mindfulness with contemporary psychology and current perspectives. Drawing on the author's many years of clinical experience as a psychologist as well as his personal experience in Buddhist meditation practices, it outlines how the Buddha's four applications of mindfulness can provide a pathway to psychological wellbeing, and how this can be used personally or with clinical populations. Malcolm introduces mindfulness as it is presented in Buddhist psychology and guides the reader through meditations in a systematic way. The practices are clearly explained and supported by relevant real-life stories. Being aware that mindfulness and meditation are simple but not easy, Huxter guides the reader from the basics of mindfulness and meditation through to the more refined aspects. He provides a variety of different exercises and guided meditations so that individuals are able to access what suits them. His book aimed at anyone who wishes to use mindfulness practices for psychological freedom. It provides insight and clarity into the clinical and general applications of Buddhist mindfulness and will be of interest to mental health practitioners, students of mindfulness, professional mindfulness coaches and trainers, researchers and academics wishing to understand Buddhist mindfulness and the general public. Valeria Teles interviews Malcolm Huxter — the author of “Healing the Heart and Mind with Mindfulness. Ancient path, present moment.” Malcolm is an Australian clinical psychologist and teacher of Buddhist meditation.
