Mein heutiger Gast ist Thomas Hicksch, und netzwerken ist seit etwa 15 bis 20 Jahren sein Hobby. Es macht ihm einfach Spaß, Menschen in unserer Region und darüber hinaus kennenzulernen. Das Erzeugen von Synergien und Bündeln von Kompetenzen ist in seinen Augen immerhin wichtiger denn je. Ich habe Thomas vor einem Jahr im Felix als Gast auf einem unserer Perspektivenwechsel kennengelernt, auf den er spontan mitgekommen ist. Kurz darauf war er selbst als Experte dabei, weil ihm das Konzept des generationsübergreifenden Netzwerkens gut gefiel. Welche Unterschiede er zwischen früher und heute sieht? Die Entwicklung vom konservativen, hierarchischen Netzwerken zum Kontakt auf Augenhöhe und den Möglichkeiten durch Social Media findet er wahsinnig spannend - er bleibt am Ball, nicht zuletzt dank seiner beiden Kinder. Wie Thomas zum Netzwerken gekommen ist? Als Mitglied im Rotary Club hat er seit mittlerweile 7 Jahren beruflich viel mit dem Thema zu tun. Vor einigen Jahren ist er einfach ins kalte Wasser gesprungen und hat einfach mal Menschen angesprochen, die er vorher noch nicht kannte. Kommunikativ sollte man sein und bereit, aus seiner Komfortzone zu treten - bereit sein, sich weiterzuentwickeln und auch mal Fehler zu machen. Er unterscheidet zwischen 3 Netzwerktypen: Geber, Tauscher und Nehmer. Zu Beginn ist es wichtig, ganz viel zu Geben. Bau Dir Dein Netzwerk auf, bevor Du es brauchst. Ab einem gewissen Zeitpunkt wirst Du einmal Hilfe aus Deinem Netzwerk benötigen, die Du, wenn Du zuvor viel hineingegeben hast, ohne schlechtes Gewissen erfragen kannst. Am schönsten ist das Netzwerken, wenn es nicht mit Pflichten verbunden ist, am liebsten völlig unverbindlich, und es entwickelt sich einfach, wo es passt. Früher war Thomas auf zahlreichen Netzwerkveranstaltungen, mittlerweile ist sein Netzwerk wesentlich kleiner, aber feiner. Qualität über Quantität. Was Thomas gern mit 25 gewusst hätte, welche Tipps er für Dich auf Lager hat und was ihn antreibt erfährst Du in dieser Episode, zu viel möchte ich an dieser Stelle nicht vorwegnehmen. So viel sei aber gesagt: Es gehören eine ordentliche Portion Mut und eine "Einfach mal machen!"-Mentalität dazu, um ein erfolgreicher Netzwerker werden zu können. Wer Thomas kennt weiß, er ist ein Mensch, der das Geben sehr ernst nimmt. Ich habe ihn duch Zufall schnell kennen und lieben gelernt - vom zurückhaltenden Erstkontakt zur Weiterempfehlung von Experten zum Perspektivenwechsel. Wenn Thomas von einer Sache begeistert ist dauert es nicht lange, bis auch andere von dieser angesteckt werden. Die 50igste Folge von RTL Moderator Thomas Wagner und Focus Online Kolumnist Mike Kleiß trifft jeden Fussball-Fan ins Mark, mitten ins Herz. Die beiden Podcaster natürlich selbst auch. Am Wochenende wurden zunächst beim 1.FC Köln zwei Spieler und ein Physio positiv auf Corona getestet. Nun scheint das Virus die gesamte Bundesliga zu betreffen, wer hätte das gedacht. Erstaunlich, dass das Virus dann doch über die Grenzen von Köln hinaus gewandert ist - Ironieknopf aus! Was heisst das jetzt für die Bundesliga? Wagner und Kleiß sind wieder einmal nicht einer Meinung. Für Kleiß muss diese Saison nun beendet werden. Was Thomas und Mike jedoch eint ist die Faszination der EM 19984! Es gibt einen historischen Rückblick, zu einer sehr sehr schlimmen Europameisterschaft.

Remember your first time at a buffet? (For me it was Duffy's.What to eat first!?!) There is a wealth of possible topics in today's post-Easter lectionary reading: The disciples were hiding and fearful; quite the opposite of Pentecost! Jesus appears! Is He a spirit?No, He shows them His wounds... Why does Jesus retain His wounds? Isn't it neat that He says "Peace be with you," which was their everyday polite greeting, like "how's your mom & them, but His mission was to bring Peace? That part about forgiving and retaining sins: is that license for the Roman Catholic practices of penance and excommunication, or is that about our ministry of declaring forgiveness through faith in Christ (as the Greek suggests)? Was Thomas stubborn, hurt, the first scientist, or what? Thomas' confession was light years beyond Peter's finally unmasking for us Jesus as God. Ø       Let's narrow it down to these: v22 Then he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit." v29 Then Jesus told him, “You believe because you have seen me. Blessed are those who believe without seeing me.” AND v31 But these are written so that you may continue to believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing in him you will have life by the power of his name. What is this link between believing in Jesus and receiving new life through the Spirit? Do We "Believe?" Ø       I have a problem with Indiana Jones... #1 - After you see the Ark of the Covenant destroy a group of Nazi's, how do you still interpret it without bringing in God? #2 - That scene in The Last Crusade about the "leap of faith..." Ø       The problem with the Leap of Faith We tend to define what is "leaped over" as a lack of evidence Look at what Thomas says... But in my experience, what we "leap over" is more about the struggle in our hearts (insecurities, fear of being hurt, etc.) than the struggle in our heads Imagine yourself as Thomas, and look at what he did... Ø       The problem with "belief" Like "love," we can say a lot or a little when we say, "I believe" ex 1: "I believe it's going to rain." ex 2: "I believe this airplane is safe." ex 3: "I believe in my wife." As in, "No, that wasn't my wife tossing dollar bills at the Chip & Dale performers!" Or better yet, "Honey, I need you to leave the house for the next 30 minutes.No questions. Trust me.  This is important." (I will, of course, ask if she's in any danger...) "Belief in Christ" is that kind of belief that starts with a realization and moves quickly to trust, then over time permeates the center of your being and fills every corner of your life... Thomas: "My Lord and my God!" Part of the New Creation Ø       John's hidden implication: Gen 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. John 1:1a In the beginning was the Word... v3 God created everything through him, & nothing was created except through him. Genesis 2:7 Then the Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground. He breathed the breath of life into the man’s nostrils, and the man became a living person. John 20:22 Then he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit." Ø       As a disciple, you are called not just to a set of rules or a certain standard of behavior, but to willingly participate in your own re-creation... Ø       The impact that people of the New Creation have is amazing... "Christians are made of Steel!" - a clip from an Egyptian news broadcast in which a Muslim journalist reacts to an interview with the widow of the gatekeeper who prevented a suicide bomber from entering an Alexandria church yard on Palm Sunday, thereby saving countless lives.... That is the kind of impact we are called to have as a part of the New Creation, a post-Easter people!

Confession time, Johnny used this title to help with search engine optimization (SEO) for this week's podcast (meaning: using a "high trending" word in the title to make the show easier to find on Google Search). Reverend Dean Beverly Gibson started off this week's sermon with a confession of her own. During her week off she binged watch Netflix's women's prison dramedy hit show, Orange Is The New Black. Not quite endorsing the show from the pulpit, Reverend Gibson mentions that this show's subject matter of imprisonment strangely aligned with the lessons and Gospel reading this Sunday. The Disciples were imprisoned and freed in Act 5:27-32 and they were "laying low" hiding from the authorities in John 20:19-31. Reverend Gibson discusses with co-host Johnny the "self-made" prisons that Jesus can help free us from, both spiritually and personally. How do we choose to breach our own prisons? Why we should preach about our "escape" from our prisons? Why we should pray to be thankful for our "freedom". Doch ein paar Mitbürger sind dadurch verunsichert, was von konservativen Kreisen ausgenützt wird, indem massiv Ängste geschürt werden. Wie absurd und erfunden die Behauptungen gegen die Lehrplanänderung sind, hätten wir am Anfang nicht für möglich gehalten. Die Welt wird nicht untergehen, wenn in einer Matheaufgabe einmal "Manuela und Petra" zwei Pfund Äpfel für 2.50 Euro kaufen werden. Und wenn im Englischunterricht mal eine Geschichte vorkommt, in der "George and Peter" eine gemeinsame Wohnung suchen, wird kein Flammenmeer vom Himmel fallen. Aber es könnte helfen, dass Homosexualität etwas normales wird. Und dass Jugendliche sich nicht viele Jahre anders, nicht zugehörig oder ausgeschlossen fühlen, und mit der Angst leben müssen, was alles schreckliche passieren könnte, wenn jemand erfährt, dass sie jemanden des selben Geschlechts attraktiv finden. Aber es macht kein heterosexuelles Kind homosexuell. Punkt. Es hilft allenfalls homosexuellen Kindern, leichter mit ihrer Situation umzugehen. Und wer sollte ernsthaft wollen, dass Kinder es schwer haben? Eine vier mal höhere Suizidrate unter homosexuellen Jugendlichen zeigt, dass es eben nicht einfach ist, einfach nur schwul zu sein, in einem Klima, in dem "Schwuchtel" ein häufiges Schimpfwort ist, und Homosexualität in der Schule am liebsten unter den Tisch gekehrt werden soll.
