“How we think shapes how we live.” -Jennie Allen, Get Out of Your Head There are 4 main types of procrastinator - The Performer, The Self-Deprecator, The Overbooker, and The Novelty Seeker, according to businessinsider.com ( https://www.businessinsider.com/main-types-of-procrastinators-how-to-avoid-accountability-coaches ) You are a Performer if - You wait until you are under the pressure of a deadline to get your task done. You are a Self-Deprecator if - you make excuses like “I'm lazy” or “I'm stubborn” in order to put off doing what needs to be done You are an Overbooker if - your excuse is that you are too busy instead of facing a challenge or admitting you don't want to do something (you create chaos in order to avoid certain tasks) You are a Novelty Seeker - if you have shiny object syndrome and can't focus on one thing, or follow through to get things done. Do any of these sound familiar or resonate with you? I'm definitely a Chaos Creator, mixed with a bit of Performer. This week, we are showcasing an interview from The Classy and Real Show with Raquel Bedoya. Raquel and I discussed some tips on how to gain control of the chaos in your life during a global pandemic (and any other chaotic time) and how to give yourself grace during a crisis.
Find the original full blog post HERE Find your baseline: Make sure your basic needs are met. Food, water, shelter, physical safety and security. Then answer: What are your problems? Brain dump everything you feel is causing you to stress out or be in a perpetual state of chaos. Then what are possible solutions? Brain storm! Look to the future. How do you make sure you don’t get back to this place of chaos? STEP 1: What will you no longer tolerate? Now that you are back to baseline, what events, behaviors, or tasks will you no longer tolerate. Decide this now, when there is a lull in the chaos and as things get more hectic and chaotic in your life, you will already have the boundaries in place to fall back to. STEP 2: What are you willing to accept? I’m not delusional, I am fully aware that there are some things you won’t be able to avoid. But, for the most part, YOU get to decide what you will accept in your life, relationships, home, job, diet, inner voice, ALL THE PLACES.

It's easy to get down on yourself when things don't go according to your plan. Here are a few quick tips on how to give yourself a confidence boost so you can continue to show up for yourself and your goals: 1) Write a BADASS List. See my video here 2) Poll your friends on what they think are your greatest strengths 3) Create something new. Suck at it. Refine it. It's just a starting point. 4) Practice Positive Affirmations and Positive Self-Talk 5) Visualize yourself accomplishing your goals Don’t for one second forget that you have pulled yourself from the ashes of your former self many times before. Change and growth are challenging. If they weren’t it would be too easy to slip back into what once was. The change and growth morphs you into someone who can no longer fit the mold of the old you. Don’t cry over your inability to fit your square peg self into the circular hole of the old you. See full notes at www.chaosqueens.org

I would rather that my sparks should burn out in a brilliant blaze than it should be stifled by dry-rot. This week we are chatting with Lauren G. Foster from Be Happy First. I had such a great interview with Lauren and we could have talked for hours, it seemed. I loved how real Lauren got in sharing her story. She truly is a Phoenix rising from the ashes of when, as she so frankly puts it, she "crashed and burned." There are so many lessons that Lauren shares with us in this interview. Some of my favorite parts are when Lauren talks us through how to get clarity on what you want for your life. That's something I've struggled with a lot as I navigate entrepreneurship, motherhood, marriage, life. Lauren offers these steps for finding clarity in your life's purpose: 1. Remember things you used to love to do as a kid. This re-awakens your imagination so that you can dream up the life you want. 2. Write a Bucket List - What are 50 things you want to do before you die? 3. Paint the picture of what you want and then live into that. Allow the picture to change as you experience new things and can shape the picture with your experiences. Throughout the conversation, we also discuss the Laws of Awareness and as the Universe is working in our lives in these different levels: - To me - By me - Through me - As me For more information on the Laws of Attraction, Lauren recommends any of the Abraham Hicksbooks on the subject Connect with Lauren for more information and check out her free resources: Connect on Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/behappyfirst Lauren G. Foster founded Be Happy First in 2013 when she decided that her life's purpose was to help other women create lives that feel empowered, free and abundant, so everything she does these days is towards that end. She is certified as a Life Mastery Consultant, Primal Health Coach, Masters of Wisdom and Meditation Teacher and Dream Builder Coach.

Throughout October, we remember all the babies in heaven who didn't have a chance to grow old in this world. It is a month of reflection and sadness as parents reminisce on what could have been, but also hope that we can overcome the tragedy. In honor of our lost little loves, this week we bring you an interview with Kaci McGuire from Queen Bee Fertility. This interview first aired on The BumpCast podcast in October 2018 but everything in it is still relevant to the tragedy of infant loss, miscarriage and infertility today. During this special episode of the podcast, we discuss the importance of preparing holistically for pregnancy to give your body and your pregnancy the best chance for success, pregnancy loss, as well as postpartum care and the importance of surrounding yourself with a support system in all stages of motherhood, loss, and life. More than anything, it's really important to give yourself grace. Too often, we mamas put so much blame on ourselves and many times, there’s not much we could have done to prevent the tragedy. This week on Chaos Queens, I’m interviewing the amazing Rachel Garrison. I got pretty emotional during this interview and I give so much praise to Rachel for her eloquence and poise while telling her story. Rachel has been through a lot! I found myself thinking “how is this woman still standing so strong?” And it dawned on me that OF COURSE she’s still standing strong! She is a true Chaos Queen and ruler of her realm and now she’s paving the way for others to communicate and rise up past their own fears by creating safe spaces for millennials to have vulnerable conversations about life, relationships and experiences. I know you will be in awe of this incredible woman, just as I am. I’m so honored to bring you this interview with my friend Lynsey Dubois this week. Lynsey and I have been friends since my daughter was a Daisy Girl Scout some 6 years ago. I knew she had an incredibly tragic story to tell about the loss of her daughter Amelia, but the life bombs she dropped in this episode took me by complete surprise. This woman has fought through rape, domestic violence, and a broken back along with the loss of her sweet baby girl. To me, she is a real life super hero. Now, because I wasn’t prepared for some of the things she dropped on us, a few of the events were sort of, glossed over. I definitely want Lynsey to come back, whenever she’s ready for a part 2 to deep dive into some of her early life tragedies, because I know so many of you Queens have similar stories. I hope you can pull as much strength and motivation from this interview as I did. If you have any questions or comments on this episode, feel free to email me at shannon@chaosqueens.org I would also LOVE if you would head over to my show page on whatever platform you’re listening to this on and leave a rating and review. Sometimes in life, chaos can mean all the back to back to back, daily grind tasks that we go through, and sometimes chaos is a huge event. Megan Ortolivo shares both in her story during this week’s episode of Chaos Queens. There really is nothing like the Thin Blue Line. As a retired police officer it was my distinct honor to interview Laura about the loss of her brother, Deputy Sheriff Kevin Blount, when his helicopter made an emergency landing on a hilly area. When the Eurocopter-EC120 landed, the tail end broke off, causing the fuselage of the helicopter to roll down a hill. Kevin was 29 years old and had served as a deputy sheriff for 7 years. What is the Thin Blue Line? thinbluelinefoundation.org definition is: The Thin Blue Line represents the men and women of law enforcement that stand between good and evil, order and chaos. The black stripes above the blue line represent the public and the bottom black stripes represent the criminal. It was so eye opening for me to get this perspective. That of a surviving family member of a fallen officer. Laura describes getting the news that Kevin had been in an accident, the aftermath of the news, and how it inspired her to serve others who experience trauma. This week I’m taking you along as I remember my military experience, why I enlisted, how September 11th played a crucial role in my soldier experience, and what war really does to a girl from the suburbs. After going back through and listening to this episode, I will admit, I definitely glossed over a few things. It certainly wasn’t intentional, but I will make sure to circle back around in another episode to get into the gory details of basic training and war in Iraq. If you have any questions or comments on this episode, feel free to email me at shannon@chaosqueens.org I would also LOVE if you would head over to my show page on whatever platform you’re listening to this on and leave a rating and review. This is the best way you can help get the word out to other Queens about the show. Don’t forget to purchase your ticket for the Conquer Your Chaos Women’s Retreat happening in Northern California in November 2019. In this intro episode, I'm sharing the inspiration for this podcast and what you can expect from listening. I hope to interview lots of women to get their unique perspectives on life, love, loss and triumph over all the chaos in their lives. I came up with this concept after interviewing countless mamas on my pregnancy podcast, The BumpCast, and finding that we all have a story or two to tell that may inspire or encourage other women through this crazy thing called life.
