Sorry this one was a little later than planned, we've been a bit spread out over the last week or so, normal service will resume soon! But here's our review on the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona, and all within it as a new chapter in sportscar racing began! And yet, some things didn't change! Meyers Shank retained the crown in a 1-2 for Acura, with the #10 of Wayne Taylor Racing close behind as a 24 hour race became a 24 minute sprint at the bell! We also talk LMP2, a crazy class where the "Bus Bros" clashed with overall winner Simon Pagenaud and the class victory was determined by... 0.016 seconds in an incredible comeback for James Allen (No, not that one!) We also talk about Porsche's struggles with their new prototype, Maro Engel committing more violence enroute to another class win, the battles in GTD, the baptism of fire for the BMW's, and the new Porsche 911's getting BOP'ed into oblivion. Enjoy!

"I've driven races where my power steering has gone out and the diver cooling system went out and it's 130 degrees, and if you did that for about five minutes, you'd say I gotta quit. But I had to do it for an hour. And the only way to get through it is just keep taking breaths and focusing on, 'What's the next step? What's the next step? What's the next step?'"Today's guest is Matt Plumb, a professional race car driver. If I asked you about car racing, you'd probably mention your favorite scene from Ford versus Ferrari with Matt Damon and Christian Bale or Days of Thunder Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman. Other than what we see in movies, most people don't know a whole lot about the sport of car racing and what it takes to be a successful professional driver. As sports nerds, Bryan and I were treated to an inside look, not only into the sport of car racing, but more importantly, the mind of a professional race car driver. Car racing is about so much more than driving fast and trying not to crash. In fact, everything we talked during our conversation with Matt felt completely relatable, even though our background is in a completely different sport. We discovered so many parallels between race car drivers and runners that at times, it felt like we were talking about the same sport. Matt highlights his story with insight into what makes up his winning mindset, including why not quitting is quite possibly the biggest motivator that got him through his toughest moments. There's no mistaking how relevant the lessons Matt has learned from twenty years of racing are to all of us. We really believe this conversation will inspire you to be ‘all in' when it comes to going after what you want in life.Show Notes(4:11) Where is he and what his season looks like…(5:18) Simple questions from a novice and racing basics explained…(9:27) It's a brother thing. Team owner Jim Busby, driver John Andretti, Busby Racing crew chief Mike Colucci, and Porsche/Andial legend Alwin Springer bring their win at the 1989 Sunbank 24 Hours of Daytona to life on the 30th anniversary of their overall win in the gorgeous No. 67 Porsche 962. The two-car effort, with the lead No. 67 entry for the late hero Bob Wollek, all-time great Derek Bell, and Andretti, was complemented by a one-off second entry, the No. 68, as a tribute entry featuring the Holbert Racing crew and a 962 chassis for Mario and Michael Andretti, in the wake of Al Holbert's death a few months earlier. By the end of the 24 Hour, Porsche had won its 50th race with the 962, which would also serve as Bell's final 24-hour win, and with a long delay for fog, the windshield flying off with Andretti behind the wheel, and a titanic battle for victory with Jaguar that forced Wollek to close the race running at qualifying speeds, the 1989 event is loaded with amazing stories offered by our guests. Mike, Tom, Crunch and Tad in studio tonight. No guest, but schedule starts next week. Watch for mixlr events and our Facebook for Details. Well, you will have weeks like this. It's crappy out, snow is melting and making that snowy mess that is so familiar to people in snow prone regions of the country. Translation, not much of anything going on... except for Hollywood Tom. Tom was invited to a distributor ssponsored event in the Dominican Republic to talk to customers about the products and how to better sell them in the motorsports market place. Must be nice to be "swimmin wit da fishes" while we were all dealing with melting snow. The Pro stock debut is very close. We are all waiting and watching to see how this shakes out. Soon enough we will see where this ends up for the first race. It's looking like from the info we have seen the Pro Stock teams are on it, and might not be off a whole lot. Mike did next to nothing all weekend except watch the 24 hours of Daytona. I have to agree with him, quite a race. Real car guys are not focused so much on the overall winner, but the classes of real cars. This year GTLMS and GTD. GTD was newly populated with Lamborghini, Ferrari, and Aston thanks to changes in the GTD rules to allow FIA GT3. It's pretty clear the Lamborghini guys sand bagged and need a little adjustment since they seemed to pass higher up class cars at will at times. Much to Mike's amusement, Ford kind of flopped with the new GT car. Trans, Brakes, electric, all sorts of stuff going on. In the end Corvettes, yellow no less, were 1 and 2 in the class. Live again next week Monday night at 7:00 PM EST on Mixlr.com. Call in number 908 751 0211. Live callers welcome, and this will be the line for giveaways.
