Immigrant Entrepreneur: Alina Trigub Alina grew up in Ukraine when anti-semitism groups were complete widespread. As a Jewish she and her mom feared for their lives. It was out of pure safety that they realized they had to move out to a better place and that's when they immigrated to United States.  Alina had several jobs out of college, but her side gig really only started out of curiosity. She started researching and learning everything there was about real estate syndication. Alina found that not a lot of people knew about syndication so Samo Financial was born to teach people and help them through financial wealth. Something happened to her position at her last job and that's when her entrepreneurial journey kicked into full gear.  She drops in a lot of wisdom in this episode about immigrant entrepreneurship and I learned so much from her journey!

For our latest episode of Real Wealth, Real Health, we’re continuing with our theme of exploring the benefits of passive real estate investing, as we welcome Alina Trigub, Managing Partner of SAMO Financial. In this instructive & informative episode, we hear about Alina’s arrival in America as an immigrant, and how she worked her way to success, first as a public (then private) accountant, and then making the jump to information technology. In search of a way to lower her yearly tax bill, Alina found passive real estate investing by far the best option and used syndications as the vehicle to do so. Alina’s early experiences with investing taught her that sponsor selection and proper due diligence are paramount to ensuring a deal performs as advertised. Having learned the ropes, Alina sought to make passive investing through syndications more accessible to everyone, and founded SAMO Financial, a firm focused on helping people build wealth for themselves, their families, and generations to come. As we explore the world of passive investing, Alina provides excellent insights into the details she examines when evaluating a potential sponsor or new deal. We cover the importance of transparency from a sponsor, what to look for in their track record, and how to examine materials with a healthy dose of skepticism. Furthermore, we talk about how she examines a sponsor’s underwriting model, diligence materials, and business plan for any given asset. Finally, we also look at how real estate investing can offer different advantages relative to the needs or preferences of an investor, the major advantages offered by passive investments in real estate, especially from a tax perspective, and Alina’s personal view on the definition of Wealth. Key Insights: · How passively investing in real estate through syndications can provide significant tax benefits, while helping establish a diversified portfolio outside of Wall St. · How to go through the process of selecting the right real estate sponsor, including tips on performing thorough due diligence · Some of the key points to pay attention to when examining a sponsor’s track record · How the demographic and employment qualities of a market/submarket can affect demand, and consequently the performance of an asset · Why looking at IRR alone can be a deceiving way to evaluate real estate deals · The importance of a nimble & well-researched business strategy in any given investment Subscribe to this podcast to build your healthy financial foundation through expertise, insights, strategies, tactics, wisdom, and inspiration from Alpha Investing’s community of professionals, advisors, investors, and members: Apple — Spotify — Google — TuneIn — Stitcher Guest Bio: Alina is the founder and Managing Partner of SAMO Financial. While “multifamily” investing is still very hot, mobile home parks can be just as lucrative as an investment. Today we chat with a former accountant, Alina Trigub to discuss why she decided to diversify beyond Wall Street into real estate. We cover so much with Alina, including advantages of passively investing, best educational resources for learning syndications, the “in's and out's” of mobile home park investments, and a simple 4 step process to work through difficult emotions. Alina is the founder and the Managing Partner of SAMO Financial. It's a boutique private equity firm specializing in helping a select group of people passively invest in the commercial real estate. She welcomes warm introductions of accredited investors that are looking (1) for help to preserve their wealth, (2) to find ways to save on taxes, and (3) make an additional passive stream of income. Her business motto has been articulated well by Warren Buffett's indicating that, "Someone is sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago". She is the founder of two Meetup groups named, “The Power of Passive Investing through Real Estate”, which gather in NY and NJ. In addition, Alina offers educational webinars in collaboration with various administrators of self-directed IRA companies. Topics revolve around aspects of getting started investing in syndications by using funds in solo 401k or self-directed retirement plans. Alina has helped her clients to acquire and invest in over 1200 apartment doors, over 10MM Fund focused on self-storage, and over 5MM Fund focused on mobile home parks and storage. On today's episode, we discuss a ton with Alina, including: How to work through difficult emotions The difference between passive and active investors The power of syndications Why vetting the syndicator is just as important as vetting the deal How to properly vet a syndicator The “ins and outs” of mobile home park investing Biggest mistakes investors can make when evaluating mobile home park investments   Contact Information Via email - alina@samofinancial.com Via website - samofinancial.com Via LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/alinatrigub/   Books/Resources: Best Ever Book on Syndication by Joe Fairlesss It's a Whole New Business by Gene Trowbridge Whitney Sewell's Podcast on Real Estate Syndication Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod You are a Badass by Jen Sincero  InvestHER Community Join us on our mission to support and empower as many women as we can to live a financially free and balanced life.
