As an artist and a philanthropist, she has been featured in Star, Us Weekly, In Touch Weekly and Life & Style.Beginning last year, she took her career further down the road less taken, putting out music at a much faster pace.“It takes a while to find the right people. It takes a while to find the sound that you really love,” she said, “and I'm just warming up.”No More Lonely Christmas is her first full length album. On our latest episode of the podcast, we chat about what went on in Corrie between the 25th and the 29th November (Episodes #11,423 - 11,428) Bit of a funny week for us this week as the pair of us watched two of the episodes separately from each other, so recording Street Talk was the first time we actually got to hear each other's opinions on the week's goings on! To cut a long story short, we're both very much invested in the revenge that Leanne is plotting for Nick after discovering that he and Toyah are still having it off behind her back - and the prospect of seasoned vindictive cow Tracy Barlow acting as spurned Leanne's second in command makes us all the more excited! Also this week, Carla gets a bonk on the bonce when Mason's brothers are interrupted breaking into the factory -  will her near-death experience spur her on to making a proper go of it with Lisa? Meanwhile, Alya returns to Weatherfield and spares no time in picking up where she left off with Adam, Lauren finds out whether or not Frankie can join her in the clink, and we learn of the off-screen death of Les Battersby - but was giving the character the heave-ho in this way a good move? Although there's a bit of news we could have covered this week, for various reasons we decide to put it off until next week's podcast, but we still manage to squeeze in a bit of your feedback before we finish things off - including another lovely iTunes review! This podcast covers episodes 11,423 to 11,428. Carla escapes the Knicker People's Bowling Afternoon to return to the factory, disturb a robbery and receive a bop on the head for her troubles. Racist Kelly's argument for caring for Frankie in prison looks to be doomed until Dee Dee shows up to be on her side. Chesney's attempts at vehicular passive aggression backfire in Freshco's car park when a mysterious van driver prangs his car. Alya arrives back on the street and picks up where she left off with Adam. Nick and Toyah's plans to announce their intention to live together are put on hold when Leanne gets some upsetting news about her dad. Gemma has friends. People listen to Kirk. Send us a text message and tell us your thoughts. Our history of migration spans across the world. Join us as we journey with Alya Harding, a community organizer and PhD student, who shares her heartfelt exploration of Sierra Leonean Creole/Krio culture and her personal quest to uncover her Trinidadian roots. We examine the historical migrations that have woven a diverse Creole culture, bringing together Africans, African Americans, and Afro-Caribbean individuals in Sierra Leone. Alya's narrative of growing up in post-civil war Sierra Leone, paired with her newfound connections to her Caribbean heritage, paints a vivid picture of identity and belonging within the African diaspora. This episode offers a thoughtful reflection on the complex layers of Creole culture, as seen through the lens of "roots versus routes" by scholar Paul Gilroy. We discuss the spiritual connections that bind African and Caribbean people, bolstered by historical movements such as the Haitian Revolution. The conversation also critically examines the romanticized idea of "returning" to Africa. We challenge the commercialization and exclusivity of this concept, advocating for genuine engagement with local communities and learning from past social movements. Alya enriches the dialogue with her personal anecdotes, and together we explore the enduring quest for freedom within Black communities worldwide. Alya's activism and academic pursuits are deeply influenced by her early childhood in post-civil war Sierra Leone, shaped by the resilience of her Krio heritage and the richness of creolised cultures. She is particularly drawn to storytelling as a means to explore the tensions between theory and practice, grounded in a feminist approach that reimagines identity and freedom at the intersections of race, gender, and empire. Alya's PhD research through an intergenerational discourse seeks to explore feminised migratory survival modes through the family pathology of African female headed households across Britain. In particular, examining how these practices affect their children, especially how they have shaped their daughters' views on identity, belonging and healing.Support the showConnect with Strictly Facts - Instagram | Facebook | Twitter | LinkedIn | YouTube | Website Looking to read more about the topics covered in this episode? In this episode of Journey of Hope, host Elio Constantine takes us to the Bekaa Valley to speak with Bashir, the pastor of the Hope Evangelical Church and field manager for Heart for Lebanon's operations in the region. Together, they delve into the profound impact of experiencing and sharing the love of Christ.    Bashir shares his personal testimony of coming to Christ at the age of 17 and how his journey has led him to serve both inside and outside the church walls. He emphasizes that knowing Christ compels us to make Him known to others, and he illustrates this through Heart for Lebanon's multifaceted outreach programs.    We hear the poignant story of Alya, a Syrian refugee who found hope and transformation through the love and support of Heart for Lebanon. Despite facing immense personal tragedy and responsibility, Alya's encounter with the church led her to a newfound sense of love and compassion for her family.    Bashir also recounts a touching story of a Syrian Christian family in Zahle who felt isolated until Heart for Lebanon visited them. Their story underscores the importance of building relationships and showing love through simple acts of kindness and presence.    Please join our prayer team at heartforlebanon.org/prayer. On our latest episode of the podcast, we have a natter about what went on in Corrie between the 6th and the 10th May 2024 (Episodes #11,258 - 11,263). A mixed bag of opinions on this week's episodes, to be honest. Though we were both in agreement that the return of Nathan Curtis to the show left us feeling slightly underwhelmed - but still hopeful that be getting a bit more sinister in the coming weeks - while Gemma's still very much engaged in the Lauren story, Michael's patience for how long it's dragging out is wearing a little thin... A lot of characters getting angry at each other this week too - while Maria's annoyance at Gary after catching him with Sarah is somewhat understandable, George and Glenda at war just doesn't sit right with us! Also this week, Bernie organises a 24-hour karaokethon (that we only got to see snippets of two songs of), Alya heads off to Ireland and Liam becomes the third character in a week to be found collapsed on the floor - honestly, we just think everyone's trying to get in on Summer's bit while she's off in the US... In The Kabin, we discuss the new details on the Radio Times Soap Awards, which we now have a date and a location for - will they be a fitting replacement for the BSAs? On our latest podcast, we chat about the episodes of Coronation Street shown between the 29th April and the 3rd May (Episodes #11,252 - 11,257). It's been quite a while since the Paul story has been at the forefront of the show, but it returned to the spotlight this week, bringing a new character into the mix in the form of Paul and Gemma's dad Denny. Sounds like he's got a bit of a secret about our Bernadette too - but does this story need any extra bells and whistles at this stage? We were also introduced to some new characters in Steve's dating adventures this week too, with Aurora and Demi both making quite the impression. Meanwhile, Roy takes a step towards solving the mystery of Lauren's disappearance, and Alya and Adam finally admit their feelings for each other. Well, maybe 'finally' isn't the right word considering how they seemed to have been conjured out of nowhere to facilitate Sair Khan's maternity leave story, but you get the picture. Not an especially big week for news this week, but there are a few small stories to cover before we head into the feedback section to hear some of your reactions to Toyah's big revelation, plus in a refreshing change to what seems to be a growing majority of online discourse at the moment, a thoroughly positive email about the state of the show at the moment - fancy that! This podcast covers episodes 11,252 to 11,257. Roy suspects that Bobby's testimony was faked and ends up terminating his friendship with Carla as a result. Steve suffers from nerves ahead of dipping his toe back into the dating scene but finds encouragement from Tim. With Leanne floating Damon's idea for a pop-up mobile food truck, Nick approaches Toyah with an offer to manage The Bistro. Dee Dee becomes increasingly convinced that there is a spark of potential romance between Alya and Adam. Liam conceals a series of panic attacks from Maria by insisting that he intends to take up martial arts for his mental well-being. When Paul's interview on college radio is broadcast to a wider audience, it piques the attention of a face from his distant past. Amy is Smashy and Nicey. Sally reckons she's punching. On our latest podcast, we chat about the goings on in Weatherfield between the 15th and the 19th April (Episodes #11240 - 11245). Apologies on the delay on this one, folks, but as you may be aware, we were out on the Isle of Wight on Friday night, seeing Mikey North and Ryan Prescott in a brilliant live event! We start off the podcast by giving you all our glowing impressions of the event - let's hope there's plenty more where that came from! Partly because of our lateness and partly because Michael's under the weather and losing his voice yet again, we make this episode of the podcast a Street Talk only affair once we get past the Ryan and Mikey chat - and with Roy now behind bars on remand, there's certainly a lot to chat about! As much as we quite enjoyed the court scenes on Monday, things did go off the boil (for one of us, at least!) come Wednesday when Bobby attempted to throw the police off the scent by inadvertently making up that he saw Lauren's assailant wearing an exact replica of Daniel's jacket - are we to believe he reality coded it into existence, perhaps? Speaking of which, Leanne's going further down the Institute's rabbit hole this week - but at least her newfound outlook on life seems to have got her to freshen up her wardrobe. Also this week, Sean ends his twenty year stay at Number 11, Alya quits Barlows' Legal Services (seemingly throwing them into technological chaos as she was the only one who knew how to close down pop up ads) and Eliza Didlittle heads off to pastures new on the continent.
