We had the pleasure of interviewing Amble over Zoom video!Rising Irish folk trio Amble unveil their major label debut EP, The Commons, via Warner Records. Listen to it HEREBeloved for their descriptive storytelling, lyrics and powerful live performances, the band just announced their biggest headline tour to date for 2025, including shows at Dublin's Trinity College and New York's Bowery Ballroom, which sold out within minutes. The 30+ date run follows the band's entirely sold-out 2024 headline tour across US, Canada, UK and Ireland, including their debut performances in Los Angeles, New York City, Chicago, and many more. The Commons includes previously released tracks, “Little White Chapel” and “The Commons,” plus three new tracks, including the standout ballad “Thoughts Flood Back To You,” “One Man's Love,” and“Luke The Navigator.” Throughout, the five-track EP explores themes of love, loss, and loneliness but always concludes with hope and wonder for the beautiful world around us.On writing the EP, the band explains, “Every one of our songs tells a story. We had no ambition to add bells or whistles or anything production-wise. We're putting a microphone in a room, recording the music, and that's it. All three members are songwriters, each contributing in their own unique way. Robbie's songs are based on personal experiences while Oisin – who also writes poetry and short stories– delivers somewhat more impressionistic work, and Ross admits he's more of a melody guy.”Stay tuned for much more from Amble in 2025.ABOUT AMBLEAmble are Robbie Cunningham, Oisin McCaffrey, and Ross Mc Nerney, a three-piece ensemble of songwriters hailing from the Midlands and West of Ireland. Amble's debut EP, 2023's Amble (Live), introduced a new, musing, trad-tinged trio of songwriters to the Irish music scene, followed by 2024'shighly distinctive Of Land and Sea, found the group expanding their sound to an ever-more global audience. Their songs present indelible marks of deft rural-related storytelling and musicality that is equally traditional and current. Unusually for a contemporary group, all three members are songwriters. Every song tells a story. Robbie, Ross, and Oisin write songs that provide a quick getaway: one minute you're at the center of life's relentless storms, the next you're sitting in the shelter and warmth of your local bar on a chilly winter‘s evening with friends, a drink, and the reliability of a great song. The unique perspective of three individual songwriters creates a peerless body of work - built on the now familiar, ruminative observations on the world and more fitting to the Amble journey - the stories unfolding each day within it.We want to hear from you! In this episode, Sasha sits down with Seema Amble, Partner at Andreessen Horowitz. Seema shares her research on the transformation of the CFO's office, and how generative AI is powering financial teams. She discusses how AI can empower CFOs and finance teams to focus on strategic rather manual tasks, increasing client communication through automation, the impact of AI on valuations in service businesses such as law and accounting, and the progression from “service as a software” vs “software as a service”. Seema also discusses investing cycles, and how AI adoption in enterprise might follow the trajectory of other technologies, beginning with consumer adoption first. --
Andreessen Horowitz is one of the world's best venture capital investors. Hear from their partner, Seema Amble, on how they see AI impacting the office of the CFO. She brings in mega trends, and companies already started to help with this.
After Europeans colonized America, their descendants plowed their way across the continent, seeking prosperity through farming. But breaking up the soil – that had built up over many thousands of years – made it wash away. So some farmers are retiring their tilling equipment. Amble through Kansas prairies and cornfields as we learn how treasuring the ground beneath our feet can lead to farms that better withstand climate change, use less fertilizer and suck carbon out of the atmosphere.

Episode 49! Today's episode is a laughter filled, insightful conversation with Rhianna Knight, based on Wurundjeri Country. Rhianna is a fashion designer, hiker, founder of Amble Outdoors and all in all, a really joyful, inspiring creative and adventurous human. While out on her own hiking adventures, including in Patagonia, Rhianna realised that while the gear she was wearing was technically appropriate for the conditions, her sense of personal style was totally missing in the then offering for women in the outdoors. Building on her experience as a Fashion Design student, and a really valuable internship in a small snow sports brand where her responsibilities were huge and wide ranging, Rhianna set out to design her own line of outdoor apparel which women can feel good in, while also focusing on sustainability throughout the journey.Rhianna shares with us so many gems when it comes to the realities of creating, and continuing to evolve "Amble" with sustainability in mind, and her knowledge and passion in this space is so incredibly evident, along with her strong desire to see more women outdoors.Tune in to hear about many things not limited to:building an outdoor apparel brandsustainability considerations in creating and choosing outdoor geardesigning for women and size inclusivity for womenRhianna's experience in multi-day hikes and her contrasting approaches to different (both solo and shared) adventuresAmongst others that we no doubt didn't cover (!) Rhianna herself has hiked Wilsons Prom; Great Ocean Road Walk; Larapinta Trail; Grampians Peaks Trail, in addition to her overseas adventures. It's clear that her very open minded and really balanced approach to her own adventures brings such an inclusive perspective to the development of her own brand.Rhianna mentions the book "Let my People Go Surfing" - Yvon Chouinard. To find Rhianna online, visit @amble.outdoors or www.ambleoutdoors.com.auThanks so much to our newest Patreon sign up - Allison W - and to all of our patrons, I appreciate you so much! Through this program, people in the community had the opportunity to take free classes through Blue Ridge Community and Technical College and present their business ideas. Contestants presented their business pitch in front of a panel of judges and whoever received the highest score won $10,000 to help fund their project. Oakwood BBQ received the top prize and also won another $1,000 for the People's Choice award, where people in the community voted online for their favorite business. “It's a wonderful feeling,” said James “JC” Henson, owner of Oakwood BBQ. “To have the local support to win the People's Choice, as well, means so much to us. Everyone works so hard. Some of us have full-time jobs in addition to the work we're doing at Oakwood. This will go a long way to take care of some of the projects we're working on.” In addition to the prize money, Henson also received a branding package provided by SC Studios and a one-year membership with the Martinsburg-Berkeley County Chamber of Commerce. In 2023 to date, West Virginia has experienced 916 fires, burning approximately 11,340 acres, with 114 of those fires happening since the start of fall fire season on October 1. “Right now, we are asking West Virginia residents to refrain from calling local county emergency services centers for smoke complaints in an effort to reduce false alarm calls that can pull resources away from local volunteer fire departments,” said State Forester and Director of WV DOF, Jeremy Jones. “However, if you see a fire or column of smoke rising from a specific place, please call 911 immediately.” Debris burning is the single most common cause of wildfires in West Virginia, averaging more than 35% of all wildfires over the past 10 years. WV DOF reminds West Virginians to confine their outdoor burning to the hours of 5 p.m. to 7 a.m. per state code. It's the morning of David's trip to Berry Pomeroy Castle to go ghost hunting on his own in the dark. He tells Joe the story of the castle which is allegedly one of the most haunted sites in the British Isles. David is pretending not to be scared. Joe is worried that David won't be able to get in if it's locked up at night. They worry there isn't much tension in the ep but then David gets a call from his wife who has just spotted a celebrity in a bright red sports car being pulled over by the police. David remembers what he is doing that evening and thinks he may cry while Joe giggles at him. He tries to get out of it. Joe ends the ep with a bit of juggling. Join us in this episode for the field trip of a century. Our guest, geologist-historian David B. Williams, illuminates the Pacific Northwest's characteristic highlands and waterways as landscapes of perpetual transformation. With a wry wink, this raconteur's stories fuse the sensitivity of a naturalist with the diligence of a research geek. Amble through Seattle with David as he reveals his city's subterranean secrets: A mosquito fleet schooner lost somewhere below downtown's streets; old growth forests immersed under Lake Union; an art deco office tower whose foundation stones invite us to touch “deep time”—almost unimaginably greater than the time scale of human lives and human plans we hold so dear. David's tales animate the experiences of early Seattleites who swung picks and shot water cannons to forcefully reshape our glacially-formed landscape into a modern metropolis; a progression that continues today in response to climate change. "I'm interested in connections…How are we influenced by the landscape around us? And then, it's the connections between people and place." ~David B. Williams
Growing up in Iowa, Minnesota, and Kansas through changes and challenges, Gary Amble's work ethic and perseverance fueled a career as a meteorologist that just concluded after thirty years at KCTV5. Amiably told and fascinating.

Hop Forward: Getting You Ahead in the Brewing and Beer Business
This week on the Hop Forward Podcast we're asking the question, ‘Is small the next BIG thing?' when it comes to owning and operating a brewery. We catch up with David Eastwood from Southsea Brewing Company and Mathew Bould from Brewis Beer Co based in Amble, UK, to talk about nano-breweries and brew-pub models as a viable alternative to large-pack production sized breweries. In a climate where breweries are struggling to make ends meet, will we see more brew-pubs open up as keen homebrewers look to turn pro?We ask questions about longevity and sustainability on such a small scale, how to find a suitable location, look at the advantages and disadvantages, and even whether branding plays much of a roll when you're selling beer made in-house to customers who are attracted first and foremost to the venue and the liquid more than the branding on the beer.Partly, these discussions were birthed out of my own research for starting an Emmanuales beer cafe, The Everlasting Arms, and business planning. Therefore, these conversations were edited with any references to specific financial details removed.Find out more about the breweries we talked to here:Southsea Brewing Company southseabrewing.co.ukBrewis Beer Co brewisbeer.co.ukFollow Hop Forward on Social MediaFacebook | Twitter | Instagram | LinkedIn
