Domestic violent extremism has become one of the biggest threats to law enforcement and members of the public. In the past few years, individuals affiliated with anti-government and white supremacist groups have attacked houses of worship, grocery stores, demonstrations, and even law enforcement officers themselves. As a result, combating domestic violent extremism is a priority for law enforcement at every level across the country. Today we have a very special episode for all of you. British Police Sergeant Ralph Kern Interviews American Law Enforcement Officers Adam Richardson And Patrick O'Donnell! As mentioned, on today's show, we have two of the most esteemed guests this show has ever had. The four pillars of our Great American Syndicate are Self, Family, Community, Country. Everything we do, from our podcast to our Great American Summit centers on strengthening those four things. As for our communities, our law enforcement is critical. It's been hard to see the men and women in our law enforcement come under attack these past few years, and it is our honor to do our part to support them. Retired Police Lieutenant Randy Sutton is a national figure in law enforcement, as well as founder of the nonprofit, The Wounded Blue. In this episode, we are sharing Randy's talk from our Great American Summit. We hope to have Randy and the Wounded Blue back to our next event. Jon talks with Tony Comperchio, Chairman & Founder at Professional Golf Planners of America, about networking and planning the ultimate golf outing in 2021. As a former athlete, Professional Golf Planners of America (PGPA) CEO, Chairman and Founder Tony Comperchio knows the value of teamwork, passion, and problem solving. He brings all of those qualities and more to PGPA, while helping charities, businesses and private groups make the most out of their golf outing experiences. It all began when Comperchio was asked to help organize his clients annual golf outing which supported a local non-profit charity. Working as a supplier for a Fortune 500 company, the golf outing invitations were in no short supply and soon Comperchio was recruited to serve as Co-Chairman on the golf outing committee for the GM Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation local chapter. He threw himself into the work and earned recognition as the event's top individual fundraiser many years in a row. On the course and behind the scenes, Comperchio witnessed firsthand how golf outings bring people together, build teams, and transform a nonprofit's bottom line. Seeing these outings in action and contributing to their successes helped Comperchio realize there was more that he could do to take these events to another level – and the vision for PGPA was born. “All of life's journey pushes us in certain direction,” he says. Launched in 2016, Professional Golf Planners of America continues to expand its client base, services and mission while maintaining Comperchio's original goal of helping others. He has built an experienced team of Certified Professionals who work closely with clients to make each golf outing easier and unique. At the same time, PGPA hosts its own outings that support a growing number of national and local nonprofit organizations, including NLEOMF; a Washington, D.C. based non-profit, the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund is dedicated to telling the story of American Law Enforcement and making it safer for those who serve, and Shades of Pink Foundation, which assists local breast cancer patients and survivors. This year, as the pandemic has changed just about every facet of life, Comperchio and his team have introduced two important new services: a golf course staffing solution, helping golf courses and clubs ensure they have talented, experienced staff to serve their members and guests, and indoor golf simulator tournaments, providing Michigan's avid golfers with a year-round PGPA golf experience. Always thinking and always moving, Comperchio continues to build the PGPA brand while pioneering new elements of the golf outing experience. At the same time, he will continue to use his positive attitude to enrich the game and communities he loves, each and every day. Two High School students carried out one of the most well-known but least understood rampage murders in 1999 that led to a paradigm shift in Active Shooter response in American Law Enforcement and public safety. One of the lesser known facts of this politically charged event was that the attackers carried 99 explosive devices into the school with them at the outset of this attack, and the ripple effect of lessons learned related to rampage murder tactics and doctrine are still being tweaked with today. There are critical messages to hear about this event for everyone to include teachers, parents, public safety personnel, and anyone serious about survival or self-defense. We live in troubled times. After numerous killings of unarmed people of color by police over the past decade and beyond, the relationship between the public and law enforcement seems to be on the brink of exploding. On one side of the debate, activists claim a systemic racism problem. On the other, supporters of law enforcement claim these horrific acts of force are either necessary or the actions of a few “bad apples.” In 1963, President John F. Kennedy declared the week of May 15th National Police Week and said, “from the beginning of this Nation, law enforcement officers have played an important role in safeguarding the rights and freedoms which are guaranteed by the Constitution and in protecting the lives and property of our citizens.” But, this couldn't be further from the truth. Join me as we look into the racist origin story of America's laws and the people who enforce them.

Retired Seattle Police officer Steve Pomper, now with the National Police Association, discusses his new book, The Obama Gang: How Barak Obama, Through His Post-Presidency Foundation, Assembled, Launched, and Wages The New Assault on American Law Enforcement. Pomper explains why he blames the former president for much of today's anti-law enforcement sentiment and argues against political efforts such as the “defund the police” movement.
Picture this: You're driving home from the casino and you've absolutely cleaned up – to the tune of $50,000. You see a police car pull up behind you, but you can't figure out why. Not only have you not broken any laws, you're not even speeding. But the police officer doesn't appear to be interested in charging you with a crime. Instead, he takes your gambling winnings, warns you not to say anything to anyone unless you want to be charged as a drug kingpin, then drives off into the sunset. This actually happened to Tan Nguyen, and his story is far from unique. On this episode on the Resistance Library Podcast Dave and Sam discuss the topic of civil asset forfeiture, a multi-billion dollar piggybank for state, local and federal police departments to fund all sorts of pet projects. With its origins in the British fight against piracy on the open seas, civil asset forfeiture is nothing new. During Prohibition, police officers often seized goods, cash and equipment from bootleggers in a similar manner to today. However, contemporary civil asset forfeiture begins right where you'd think that it would: The War on Drugs. In 1986, as First Lady Nancy Reagan encouraged America's youth to “Just Say No,” the Justice Department started the Asset Forfeiture Fund. This sparked a boom in civil asset forfeiture that's now become self-reinforcing, as the criminalization of American life and asset forfeiture have continued to feed each other. In sum, asset forfeiture creates a motivation to draft more laws by the legislature, while more laws create greater opportunities for seizure by law enforcement. This perverse incentive structure is having devastating consequences: In 2014 alone, law enforcement took more stuff from American citizens than burglars did. The current state of civil asset forfeiture in the United States is one of almost naked tyranny. Don't believe us? Have a listen. Episode discussion topics A recap on the car metaphor because we plan to keep using it in the discussion. This is a three-part series discussing freedom using a different perspective as you would expect us to. Peer through the lens of your pursuit of happiness. How empowered would you feel being free from oppression, poverty, and ignorance? The current state of the contract and the serious breaches by those not upholding their end of the bargain. Inequities, advantages, and entitlements, oh my! Playing by whose rules? Some get to stand their ground while others are run down. Your hosts: Michael Piscitelli and Raymond Wong Jr. More info The planks of the Freedom Contract Platform, "In Pursuit of Happiness" (our draft working name for it). The three parts of this series align to the following: Freedom from oppression including equal justice for all, digital ownership rights, state surveillance, and other violence. Freedom from poverty including a donut style economic model with a floor to stand on and a ceiling that protects the earth from greed and excess. Freedom from ignorance including the development of skills for lifelong learning and adaptability, to collaborate among different groups of people and achieve a common goal, and the value of civic society and science for the sake of knowledge. Lastly, a shout out to the "Behind the Bastards" podcast, they do their research and have fun serving it up!
