New Belgium Brewing resumed brewing at its Asheville, North Carolina-based production facility this week for the first time since Hurricane Helene wreaked havoc on the region and shut down the brewery's operations.    It was a significant stoppage for the company as the Asheville brewery accounted for around 40% of New Belgium's total output. In the wake of the hurricane, the brewery was flooded with around 20 inches of storm water.    More than three months after being knocked offline, Voodoo Ranger Juice Force will be the first beer going into the tanks in Asheville, with packaged products expected to follow in March.    New Belgium CEO Shaun Belongie joins the Brewbound Podcast to discuss the comeback in Asheville, the company's still-unfolding contingency plans and the road ahead.    Belongie also shares New Belgium's 2025 plans, including the introduction of “Mini Ripper” cans of higher ABV Voodoo Ranger Force offerings; LightStrike hard refreshers; and Bell's Oberon Light. He also explores going into year eight of Voodoo Ranger, the opportunities for Bell's, building brands outside of the craft beer bubble and taking over sales, marketing and production of Kirin Ichiban.   Plus, the Brewbound team talks Zoe's trip to the Beer Summit, 2024 off-premise scans and Tilray Brands' Project 420.

Ziya Tong is "one of the world's most engaging science journalists" and after co-hosting Discovery Canada's Daily Planet television program for ten years, she wrote her first book, The Reality Bubble. It's a veil-removing tour-de-force, filled with wonder, rigour and a powerful thesis about our role in the world and how we are often blinded, sometimes by our own choice, from what on earth is really going on. Ben is in Toronto to chat with Ziya about The Reality Bubble and so much more. About the Guest Award-winning host Ziya Tong has been sharing her passion for science, nature and technology for almost two decades. Best known as the co-host of Daily Planet, Discovery Canada’s flagship science program, she brings a wealth of knowledge, experience, and enthusiasm to the stage. Tong speaks on leadership, how to shift perspective, and the role of science and technology in society in her riveting and eye-opening talks. Before co-hosting Daily Planet, Tong served as host and field producer for PBS’ national primetime series, Wired Science, produced in conjunction with Wired magazine. In Canada, Tong hosted CBC’s Emmy-nominated series ZeD, a pioneer of open source television, for which she was nominated for a Gemini Viewer’s Choice Award. Tong also served as host, writer, and director for the Canadian science series, The Leading Edge and as a correspondent for NOVA scienceNOW alongside Neil deGrasse Tyson on PBS. In the spring of 2019, she participated in CBC’s annual “battle of the books.” After a national four-day debate, she won Canada Reads. In May 2019, Tong released her bestselling book The Reality Bubble. Called “ground-breaking” and “wonder-filled”, the book has been compared to The Matrix. It takes readers on a journey through the hidden things that shape our lives in unexpected and sometimes dangerous ways. Tong received her Masters degree in communications from McGill University, where she graduated on the Dean’s Honour List. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of the World Wildlife Fund and is the founder of Black Sheep. Learn more about Ziya or follow her on Twitter (@ziyatong). The CA Craft Beer Summit is a 2 day educational convention put on by the CCBA. This year celebrated to 30th anniversary of the CCBA! The convention culminates with a giant, California beer festival featuring over 600 breweries and 1800 beers. That happens to be the largest beer festival on the West Coast. We are thankful that we had the chance to attend. I found many of the seminars informative and really enjoyable. In particular, 2 speeches hit home with me, Dr J. Jackson-Beckam's (BA's director of Diversity) session titled “Stop ‘Doing Diversity!' Build an Inclusive, Equitable, and Just Workplace that Drives Success” and Garrett Oliver of Brooklyn Brewery on "Reality vs. facsimile" in the American Food Culture and the Implications for Craft Beer. This week's show is focused on standout moments from both of these speakers, I hope you enjoy this unique episode! If you are reading this on release day, 9/23, and can't make our First Anniversary Show Party tomorrow, be sure to leave us a voicemail at 619-698-7038 that tells us your favorite moment from the first year of TIBS! We'll play them all on the anniversary Show! See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Everyone knows Tab Murphy, ... even if they don't immediately know his name. The Oscar-nominated writer behind GORILLAS IN THE MIST, Disney's THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME, ATLANTIS, TARZAN and BROTHER BEAR, critically acclaimed D.C. actioners such as BATMAN: YEAR ONE, BATMAN / SUPERMAN: APOCALYPSE, and Warner's much loved 2011 THUNDERCATS revival (see, told 'ya you knew him!) ... . Well, he's something of a film industry rarity. Weaned on classic horror, 60s era TV, 70s Drive-in triple bills and an avalanche of old-school adventure novels, his inspiration springs from venerable staples such as Edgar Rice Burroughs and Sergio Leone, but he's got an inate facility to translate that ageless vibe into new era cinema classics for an all new generation. In this regard there is perhaps no greater example of "Murphy's Law" than Tab's underrated 1995 modern day lost civilization saga - and directorial debut - LAST OF THE DOGMEN starring Tom Berenger and Barbara Hershey. Kinda / sorta "LOST HORIZON meets DANCES WITH WOLVES", he and producer Joel Michaels are presently preparing a new "Director's Edition" Blu-ray set for release next year. And in what proves perfect timing we've managed a sitdown with Tab which falls somewhere between a film school guest professorship ... and a neighborhood watering hole beer summit between movie geeks! ... wherein we candidly dive into his background and earliest creative endeavors, how he went from late night 7/11 clerk to much-sought-after screenwriter, his (at times topsy-turvy) experiences on films such as GORILLAS IN THE MIST and his involvement in the famous Art Buchwald / COMING TO AMERICA case, his writing and directing DOGMEN, the animated films and much more. So much more in fact, we had to break this one up into two parts - with Part 1 focusing mostly on the live action films and Pt. 2 on his voluminous output in animation. Crack one open, light 'em if you got 'em, and sit back and chill, and learn and enjoy as "Murphy's Law" takes on a whole new (much more positive) meaning.______________________________________________________________________________THE MOVIE SNEAK PODCAST is part of The GullCottage/Sandlot - a film blog, cinema magazine, growing reference library and online network "Celebrating The Art of Cinema, ... This is the latest episode of the syndicated FuseBox Radio Broadcast with DJ Fusion & Jon Judah for the week of August 5, 2009 with some new and classic Hip-Hop & Soul Music, news and commentary. Our commentary this week focused on some updates on the Prof. Henry "Skip" Gates arrest & post-situation (including the mainstream media named "Beer Summit"), the unfortunate passing and impact of Hip-Hop MC Baatin of Slum Village & the 1st Black Supermodel Naomi Sims and some other things here and there. This week we don't have new Black Agenda Report segment. The Direct EFX segments will return at the end of the HBCU's college summer break period in September.
