Episode Notes Hotel tech has a long way to go before it can satisfy travelers' demands, two executives said at the Skift Data + AI Summit in New York on Tuesday, writes Reporter Christiana Sciaudone. Chris Hemmeter, managing director at Thayer Ventures, and Kurien Jacob, partner and managing director of Highgate Technology Ventures, explained how hotel tech needs to evolve. Jacob noted how the travel industry is behind tech-wise – “room assignment can be automated,” he said. Hemmeter said the hospitality industry has been playing catch up while the traveler has changed.  Next, large numbers of travelers are making plans for the summer. But one thing many of them won't be doing is using trip-planning apps, writes Sciaudone. Gilad Berenstein, founder of investment firm Book Bay Capital, said the travel industry hasn't proven there's a lot of consumer demand for a trip-planning app. He noted that Google Maps and Google Calendar are the world's most popular trip-planning tools. Skift Research found earlier this year that 78% of American travelers haven't used ChatGPT or another AI-based app to plan a trip.  As Sciaudone writes, one problem in the travel industry is the lack of shared information among potentially competing companies. Berenstein said the hotel industry in particular needs to be involved in the full journey.   Finally, Marriott is looking to do more than sell hotel rooms. The hotel company wants to tap into generative AI to reinvent itself as a travel retailer that creates personalized experiences, writes Sciaudone.  Marriott Executive Vice President Drew Pinto said at the Skift Data + AI Summit that the company is undergoing its largest-ever tech transformation. Sciaudone reports that Marriott is transitioning to Amadeus IT and “attribute-based booking,” in which customers will be able to personalize their stay. Em outras, a perda de memória e a desorientação são tão graves que elas - e até médicos- confundem os sintomas mentais provocados pela menopausa com a doença de Alzheimer. O fato é que, claro, pode haver realmente um diagnóstico de Alzheimer, mas o declínio cognitivo pode ser consequência da redução drástica nos níveis de estrogênio, o hormônio cuja queda na produção está diretamente relacionada à menopausa. A esse estado mental deu-se o nome de "o nevoeiro mental ou cerebral". O médico Eliezer Berenstein, 70 anos, autor do livro "Inteligência hormonal da mulher" faz um outro alerta: muitas mulheres passam a tomar antidepressivos quando deveriam fazer reposição do estrogênio. Jarret Berenstein is a writer and comedian best known for pointed political satire. I met him when we were both on Radio Free Brooklyn. If you're interested in offbeat improvisational comedy, his show Famous Dead People might be your jam. Whenever I interview comedians, I wonder what the impetus was for them to decide they wanted to be funny as a profession, and Jarret discusses that during our conversation, in addition to how his more confrontational commentary goes over in environments that may not be as friendly to his politics.   Jarret and I go deep into several topics, including his journey with depression and the various pharmaceutical options (some legal, some not) he undertook to medicate. "What you are describing in the process of reading the book is what I am aspiring to which is a kind of deep emotional dialogue both in the book with the reader, but also in my work with the patient. I am more concerned with the experiential nature of our work and what it means to be with someone and the kinds of experiences that follow from a certain way of being with someone, than a focus on transference, and transference interpretation. Not that I think those aspects of our work are  unimportant, but I feel like what is foundational in even making transference interpretation is being tuned into the kind of shared emotional space and process.”    Episode Description: We begin with my experience of reading Henry's new book which included my feeling imbalanced by his emphasis on the here-and-now personal characteristics of the analyst with less attention to the meaning that patients idiosyncratically bring to the analytic relationship. That said, I also felt changed by receiving his openness and vulnerability that he described in his clinical encounters. From there we began a conversation on 'authenticity' and 'presence'. We discussed analytic symmetry, intersubjectivity, sincerity, and what it means to 'surrender' to the analytic moment. Henry presented two distinct cases that demonstrate how he brings his authentic self to challenging clinical moments. We close with his sharing with us some of his personal history that has led him to this way of conceptualizing the work.    Our Guest: Henry Markman, MD is a Training & Supervising Analyst, San Francisco Center for Psychoanalysis (SFCP), and Co-chair of Dialogues in Contemporary Psychoanalysis at SFCP.
