Last week, Frank introduced three compelling reasons to believe in the resurrection, including embarrassing details and eyewitness testimony. In this midweek episode, he jumps back into more archaeological discoveries that include names of people involved in the death and crucifixion of Jesus and how the excruciating deaths of the eyewitnesses offer powerful evidence that they weren't lying as well. He also answers questions like:Did any of the apostles recant their eyewitness testimony and is it possible that they were hallucinating? Were the apostles motivated to invent the resurrection story and should their testimony be dismissed because they were Christians? Is martyrdom also evidence that Islam is true? What does Spiderman have to do with the reliability of the New Testament? Is the New Testament just a work of historical fiction? Can other world religions be defended with apologetics? Why are skeptics and non-Christians often motivated to reject Christianity?Later in the episode, Frank draws from major cultural events in modern U.S. history—like 9/11, the OJ Simpson trial, and the Rodney King incident—to reveal how human bias can shape the way we interpret evidence and how “impact events” can help us in evaluating the historicity of the New Testament. They all had an incredible peace about them. The rest of us were raging and thrashing and dealing in a high octane profession, guys who have to decompress somehow. The only effective way I've seen people handle that without damaging themselves was Christians. Everyone else, we went to the bar and went to women and went to other things. Do you have to believe that the Bible is completely without error to be a true Christian? If you don't agree with the Bible, you ultimately find yourself at odds with the teachings of Jesus and that's never a good idea. But if both the Old and New Testaments have discrepancies, why should we consider our Bible to be inspired? This week, Frank dives into the issue of the inspiration of Scripture and tackles several questions from the audience, briefly discussing topics like abortion, free will, and God's sovereignty. He'll also examine some of the apparent contradictions in the Bible and offer insights from scholars and theologians regarding the variations between the eyewitness testimonies recorded in the New Testament. During the episode, Frank will answer questions like: Do humans beings inevitably make mistakes? If so, how can we trust the Bible? If everything happens for a reason, do we still have free will? How did St. Augustine approach the inerrancy of Scripture? Why is it important to have an eternal perspective? Does the parable of the landowner contradict the promise of rewards in heaven?   Additionally, Frank will take us into the cosmic realm and explore the implications of the Big Bang on the creation story in Genesis. For those wanting to go deeper into these questions, Frank shares his recommended reads to expand their understanding. If grappling with challenging passages in the Bible has been a hurdle for you, this episode is a must-listen! By the conclusion of this podcast, you'll gain a deeper understanding of how to interpret the Bible within its literary and historical framework, empowering you to steer clear of common misinterpretations of Scripture. Is it necessary to have all the answers to complex theological or cultural questions when talking to non-Christians? Absolutely not! But the fear of not having a response, let alone a convincing one, can be overwhelming, leading many Christians to shy away from sharing their beliefs. When you feel trapped in such situations, is there an easy way out? Christian apologist and author Eric Hernandez knows a thing or two about how to navigate tough conversations with skeptics. This week, Frank invites Eric on the show to talk about his new book 'The Lazy Approach to Evangelism: A Simple Guide for Conversing with Nonbelievers,' a wonderful resource for Christians who want to be more effective as they engage non-Christians with the Gospel (think 'Tactics' combined with 'I Don't Have Enough Faith to Be an Atheist'!). During the episode, Frank and Eric role play through a lively debate Eric recently had with a feminist lawyer on abortion and answer questions like: What are the 5 essential tools for "lazy apologetics"? Rebutting vs. refuting - what's the difference? How did Eric stump a pro-choice advocate? How can Christians defend the faith when talking to people who don't believe the Bible? What two principles did the Apostle Paul instruct us to use when dialoguing with non-Christians? What did Jesus do when He was confronted with a well-packaged logical fallacy? Evangelism can be tough at times, but it's a lot easier when you get a good grasp on how to spot faulty and inconsistent ideas. As you'll hear during this conversation, learning how to graciously shift the burden of proof to your opponent can make a world of difference. Want to learn more about how to master the art of lazy apologetics? Make sure to grab your copy of 'The Lazy Approach to Evangelism' today! Dr. Frank Turek and Hanna Sims recently co-authored a curriculum called "Yes, God is Real" which is designed to teach apologetics to children between the ages of 7 and 12 years old. Dr. Turek is the best-selling author of I Don't Have Enough Faith to Become an Atheist and Hanna Sims is a children's ministry specialist. They believe that today's children need to learn earlier than ever before that the Christian faith is not based on subjective opinions or personal choices but on truth, evidence and the solid foundation of God's Word. Dr. Turek and Ms. Sims discuss with Wayne Rice and John Coulombe such questions as "What is apologetics?" and "Aren't children too young for apologetics?" and they point grandparents to resources that can strengthen the faith of children and give them the tools they need to stand firm during their teen and young adult years. "This curriculum is not just for kids," says Coulombe. "We grandparents can learn a lot about apologetics from this material too."Websites referenced during this podcast include:https://www.networkerstec.com/https://crossexamined.org/https://412teens.org/https://www.gotquestions.org/https://gqkidz.org/

Although homeschooling our kids gives us many more opportunities to disciple our children, it does not guarantee that they will embrace our faith. Often our teens will ask questions or make statements that can invoke fear and cause us to react, but as you'll hear in this episode, questions are actually a GOOD sign. I had a mom reach out to me recently who was concerned that her teen was expressing doubt about the existence of God. She asked for some advice on how to handle this situation and for any book recommendations. It's that time of year again! You're sitting around with family at the Christmas dinner table, and Uncle Joe insists on picking apart your Christian faith. What's the best way to respond? Ignore him while you play with your mashed potatoes? Or do you try to refute his objections? You know you need to give the reason for the hope that you have, but how can you engage with his statements without starting a family feud? In this week's episode of I Don't Have Enough Faith to Be an Atheist, Frank explains that every objection to the Christian faith assumes a standard beyond the person who is making the objection and gives examples of simple questions you can ask Uncle Joe (and others like him!) to place a seed of doubt in his assertion that something is wrong with the Christian worldview. Frank addresses some of the most common objections to Christianity, including: God does immoral things in the Old Testament There's too much evil in the world Christians are hypocrites and do evil things Christianity is too exclusive God doesn't show himself enough The Bible doesn't recognize LGBTQ+ rights there's no evidence for God PLUS--Frank shares testimonies from three people whose lives have been transformed by the Holy Spirit through the work we do here at Cross Examined! As you listen to these amazing stories, we hope you will prayerfully consider donating to the ministry so we can effectively reach even more people with the truth in 2023. Thanks to a group of incredibly generous donors, you have until 12/31 to DOUBLE YOUR IMPACT. For every dollar you donate, another donor will MATCH your dollar up to $150,000. So, if you donate $10, we'll receive $20. It's as simple as that! To view the entire VIDEO PODCAST, be sure to join our CrossExamined private community. Do Christians have good historical reasons to put our faith in the resurrection of Jesus? Can we really know what happened 2,000 years ago? No one doubts the works of Alexander the Great, Julius Caesar or the history written about them, so what makes the historicity of Jesus so special? And what do non-Christian scholars say about the evidence for the resurrection of Jesus? If anyone knows the answers to these questions, it's New Testament scholar Dr. Michael Licona! His seminal work, The Resurrection of Jesus: A New Historiographical Approach, has been praised by many as the most thorough and useful tool to those looking for an in-depth study of the evidence for the resurrection of Jesus. Mike currently serves as Associate Professor in Theology at Houston Christian University and president of Risen Jesus, Inc. In this special midweek episode of 'I Don't Have Enough Faith to Be an Atheist,' he sits down with Frank to discuss the following topics as they relate to Jesus and the resurrection: problems with postmodernist history the uncertainty of historical knowledge what is a historical fact? the tools and rules of historical research how our worldview affects how we study history objections to the resurrection of Jesus the intersecting philosophies of science, history, and theology This is a fascinating and in-depth discussion, and you'll definitely learn something new! Dr. Craig is perhaps best known for his work on the Kalam Cosmological Argument which offers an excellent philosophical foundation (supported by physics) for a theistic creator. What type of theistic creator might that be? Only one meets the criteria! If God made humans in His image, does that also mean we have the right to “play God” whenever we want? Many atheists and pro-choice advocates criticize God's morality when He (ironically) “plays” God by taking life prematurely in the Old Testament. But they don't bat an eye when advocating for abortion and call it a “moral right.” It doesn't make sense! However, what about capital punishment? It seems like pro-lifers who support the death penalty are also contradicting themselves. What's the difference? In this episode of 'I Don't Have Enough Faith to Be An Atheist', Frank continues the discussion from last week on how to answer some of the most common abortion arguments, including a discussion on Numbers 5:27-28, which many people mistakenly cite as an example that God is not pro-life, and the important difference between vaccines and abortions when people declare “my body, my choice”! Frank also answers listener questions, including those on Mormonism, near-death experiences (NDEs), and whether or not it's a good idea to use fictional and unbiblical stories as a bridge to the Gospel. After 49 years and 63 million dead, the Supreme Court finally overturned Roe v. Wade. Do you have a constitutional right to a dead baby? Finally, the Supreme Court has answered properly… NO. However, despite this good news, there is still much work to do, as now the decision goes back to the individual states. As Christians and concerned citizens, what do we do now? In this episode of I Don't Have Enough Faith to Be an Atheist, Frank addresses the following questions: What did the Supreme Court actually do and what does the constitution say? What does this decision tell us about the importance of voting for pro-life presidents? Have Christians set up a theocracy? What about my body, my choice? How to make the case for life! Oh, and what would Satan actually say about the Supreme Court decision? The Babylon Bee's microphones were in Satan's press conference after Roe v. Wade went down. Politicians and citizens on both sides of this issue can no longer hide behind the excuse, “Well, the life issue doesn't really matter because the Supreme Court has tied our hands.” Well, they just untied them. We must make a case for our position, and we need to do it now.
