Putting together VideoFuzzy ep. 100 -- coffee certainly helps! Hi! My name is Terry J. Aman, marking my 100th episode of VideoFuzzy, reporting the progress I've made in cataloging thousands of VHS transfers and digital recordings. This set covers discs 1751 to 1800 in my Classic Collection. I open with a project overview highlighting some of my finds. For my Fuzzy Feature, I encountered the 100th episode of "Bones" that recalled the first case Booth and Bones worked on together. I found a similar story construction in "In Plain Sight," and talked about that one as well. Under Cross Connections I trace Golden Threads Todd Giebenhain and, later, Michael Shamus Wiles. Also, appearances by Amy Acker, Lee Majors, Kathy Najimy, Bryan Batt, Alan Ruck, Stephen Root, Katie Sackhoff, Mark Bergeron, Angela Bassett, Sarah Silverman, Rita Moreno, Dana Delany, Sheryl Crow, Mary Pat Gleason, Marc A. Sheppard, Charlotte Arren, Johnny Broderick, Cyd Cherise, Fred Astaire, Jane Lynch, Olivia Munn and Brian Skala. And under Fond Reflections, love for Michelle Trachtenberg of "Buffy," "Mercy" and "Six Feet Under," and I share some headcanon from an "Angel" chat group I was in. In Video Outreach, I share comments from author and fellow podcaster Kemper Donovan on my review of "Loose Lips," available here: https://bit.ly/3C11ENN Kemper hosts the "All About Agatha" podcast here: https://bit.ly/43j4hnB Then I chat with my sister, Patti Ellingson, about shows we've enjoyed, including "Doctor Who," "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," "Bridgerton" and "Stranger Things." I know I've mentioned my sister's influence on my television viewing different times over the course of this production, and this felt like a fantastic opportunity to chat with her directly. So much fun! In my Classic Collection, I take almost a disc-by-disc deep dive on what I was finding in this set, beginning with a third meet-cute storyline I encountered in this set: the first season finale of "Human Target." Also, comments on "Arrested Development," "The Simpsons," "FlashForward," "Archer," "24," "Caprica," "Community," "Mercy," "Ugly Betty," "Parks and Recreation," "Justified," 2002 and 2005 MTV Movie Award shows, "The Daily Show" and "The Colbert Report," "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" C-SPAN coverage of the Affordable Care Act, "Breaking Bad," "The Big Bang Theory," "Jawbreaker," "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" "Batman Returns," "The Three Faces of Eve," "Sybil," Union activity at The Minot Daily News, "Star Trek Voyager," "Fawlty Towers," "Monty Python's Flying Circus," commercials and music videos, "LOST," "Cougar Town," "Castle," "Fringe," "Chuck," "Broadway Melody of 1940," "Silk Stockings," "V" and "Damages." Also surfacing in this cataloging effort I found home movies, including a one-act presented at the Carnegie Center in Minot in 2002 or so called "Excerpts." Friends of mine read from books in my collection: https://bit.ly/3DslFO6 It's a bit silly, but if you think of books on your shelves murmuring to one another, that was the idea I was going for. Then, from 100 episodes, I share 100 clips! But there'd only be 99, right? Well, one of the clips I shared referenced outtakes from a "Michael Caine in Space" sketch on "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" which, at the time, I had trouble locating. Since then, I was able to locate it here: https://bit.ly/4hnn9XM Enjoy! Finally, in What I've Been Watching, Ralph and I took in Larry Shue's "The Nerd" at the Vernal Theatre downtown, and I shared some thoughts. The company closes out its season with a production of Cole Porter's "Kiss Me Kate" coming up in mid-April, and we're looking forward to it. Tickets and information at https://www.vernaltheatre.com. "The Ballad of Bagel Rat," is by Jen Spyra. She's written for The Onion, The New Yorker, and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. After reading her short story collection Big Time, we not only brought two of Spyra's stories to the stage, but commissioned this one, too. Actor Busy Phillips read this story onstage. She's been in shows from Freaks & Geeks to Cougar Town, though these days you may know her from Girls5Eva or the movie musical Mean Girls. Also, she is the best at social media—which gave her a strange kind of insight into this story. This episode is hosted by Aparna Nancherla.

IntroductionHello Wonderful Readers*,A very contentious topic came up in a conversation with my female friends this week. I discussed with them how I'm single and looking for a partner in bed and in life. But how old is too old? And how young is too young? When I decided to write about this topic, a cultural icon immediately came to mind: founder and innovator Cindy Gallop. She's currently 64, and she has shared her sexual preferences and experiences with dating apps publicly:“I date younger men for sex. I want lots of stamina and very short recovery periods. I don't get those with men my own age...I was completely honest about everything, including my age…I got an avalanche of responses, which was very good for the ego. 75% of those responses were from younger men.”Her perspective got me thinking. How common are big age differences in heterosexual relationships? Is Cindy Gallop a lone wolf (or a lone “cougar”) in today's world? And are relationships with big age gaps less likely to work out?I dug into the science to answer these questions. While I've found some fascinating things, I will say that to get a complete picture, I could have looked at more data from studies on dating apps and whether these findings hold for LGBTQIA couples because these statistics focused solely on heterosexual couples. The reach of my work here is limited, and there's always room for improvement. So, let's dig in!The State of Age AffairsThere's a clear trend in heterosexual marriages in the United States: now, more than ever before, husbands and wives are likely to be the same age. According to Pew, the average age difference in the United States was 4.9 years in 1880, 2.4 years in 2000, and 2.2 years in 2022.In the data below published in 2008, you can see that for marriages in England and Wales (a proxy for “Western” cultures), there is a bell-shaped distribution of the average age differences between couples. Most married couples in recent history have had a husband who is slightly older than the wife. But this is a difference of less than 5 years, and it has been declining since 1963. Indeed, 51% of opposite-sex marriages today have spouses who are two years apart in age or less, which is up from 46% in 2000 (Pew). Are Relationships with Larger Age Gaps Less Successful? To answer this question, I looked at large-scale studies on divorce rates by age difference. Of course, divorce rates are not the perfect measurement of relationship success. A couple can fight every day and stay married, which is probably worse than a couple that divorces civilly and stays friends. As Divorce Therapist Oona Metz has shared, “What the new research shows is that conflict is bad for kids.” Ideally, I could have looked at relationship conflict and age differences between couples, but as far as I'm aware, no such data exists. It turns out that the age difference of a couple is NOT a major predictor of whether the relationship will end in divorce. The bottom line, according to this 2008 study from the National Office of Statistics, is that, at least for now,“propensity to divorce is not strongly associated with marital age difference at an aggregate level, although further research would be required to control for mortality and any other factors that may affect the risk of divorce.”Other studies have suggested that in order to interpret these findings fully, researchers would need to disaggregate the data based on whether one of the partners was married before and who initiated the divorce. It's well known that about two-thirds of divorces are initiated by women, so these divorce statistics may well be skewed toward women's preferences.Unfortunately, as I dug into this data, I found a lot of crappy news outlets that totally blew findings from certain studies out of proportion and came to conclusions that were misleading or just plain wrong. One poorly researched article on a website called MarketWatch concludes, “The bigger the age gap, the shorter the marriage.” This is not true. The second source they cited has since redacted an inaccurate chart where they tried to show the increased likelihood of the marriage ending based on the age difference. I smell b******t! Still, I had to get out my magnifying glass and relearn how to read coefficients from my Statistics classes at Wharton just to determine that this was indeed a shitstorm of statistical insignificance. As far as we know today, an age difference does not significantly impact the success of a relationship. However, there are a couple more interesting insights below the surface.Extra Interesting Tidbits: Things To ConsiderMale Preferences For Younger Females and Vice VersaA study conducted by Professor David Buss at UT Austin investigated sex differences in mate preferences in 37 cultures with 10,047 participants. Its findings might partially explain why men are slightly older on average in married couples than women. Their key result was:“Females were found to value cues to resource acquisition in potential mates more highly than males. Characteristics signaling reproductive capacity were valued more by males than by females.”Basically, females take more than just physical appearance into account when selecting a mate, as they might want a partner who signals resource acquisition for their potential offspring. Additionally, males might prioritize physical appearance and have a preference for younger females because of “a biological adaptation resulting from the greater potential fertility of younger women” (Office for National Statistics), especially if they want to produce offspring and have a family. However, this is a generalization and certainly not a rule. There is also a variety of other social trends happening. For example, women's increased access to education throughout the world has coincided with an increase in the age of marriage. Plus, while women might have preferred older men for their access to financial stability and resources, the gender pay gap is decreasing with more of us females entering and staying in the workforce, so this is becoming less socially relevant. Indeed, among unmarried adults, single women without children now have, on average, as much wealth as single men (Pew).Until Death Do Us Part: Widowhood & Living AloneThe only reason to be concerned about a large age gap with your partner is whoever is much older is obviously more likely to die sooner, leaving the other person widowed and most likely living alone.According to Pew, as the share of husbands who are older than their wives has fallen, widowhood for women ages 65 and older has fallen to 30% today, down from 45% in 2000. Given this spousal age gap and the fact that women tend to live longer than men globally, about 20% of women over 60 live in a solo household, compared to about 10% of men (Pew). Is Everyone Coming to Cougartown? There's been a lot of talk about “cougars” in the news, or “age-hypogamy,” where the female is older than the male in a heterosexual relationship. A study released in 2003 by the UK's Office for National Statistics concluded that the proportion of women in England and Wales marrying younger men rose from 15% to 26% between 1963 and 1998. Still, these forms of relationships are rare, even though they are slightly on the rise. By a different definition, “recent US census data has shown an increase in age-hypogamous relationships from 6.4% in 2000 to 7.7% in 2012.” (Wikipedia).Despite the sensational news, cougars appear to be happier than other females who are in relationships! There is some evidence that “woman-older partners were the most satisfied with and committed to their relationships, relative to woman-younger and similarly aged partners, consistent with socio-cultural predictions” (Psychology of Women Quarterly, 2008). And for all my older, single female readers, there's evidence that age doesn't matter to male partners as much as beauty. Yes, unfortunately, you're still being held to the standard of the male gaze, but being doesn't matter as much as being good-looking. Is that a plus? I'll leave that for you to decide.Second Marriages & MenDigging through the research, I did find that when a husband is marrying for the second time, his wife is often much younger:“Some 20% of men who are newly remarried have a wife who is at least 10 years their junior, and another 18% married a woman who is 6-9 years younger. By comparison, just 5% of newlywed men in their first marriage have a spouse who is 10 years younger, and 10% married a woman who is 6-9 years younger.” (Pew)The “Socially-Acceptable” Cop Out: “Half your age, plus seven.”I came across this concept during my research. While it will have no impact on whether or not your relationship with someone of a different age will work out, this will help you determine whether or not that age difference is “socially acceptable.” To determine the youngest person who you're allowed to date, simply use “half your age plus seven.”So if I'm 29, the youngest person I could foreseeably date without being seen as a complete weirdo is roughly 22 years old. However, studies have shown that this rule applies much more appropriately to the age range that men can date, as opposed to women, which I think checks out. Because unless he is really amazing, dating a 22-year-old guy for me right now would feel very weird indeed. My Statistically Insignificant StoriesIn addition to the more useful statistics of having a partner who is alive and the potential of being happy as an older cougar, here are my not-so-scientific summaries of my experiences dating younger and older men.Dating Younger MenLargest Age Difference: 3 years younger than me.In the last two years, I have dated four guys who were three years younger than me. I enjoy dating younger men, and it didn't feel like too significant an age difference. Most of them had gotten a decent start in their careers. They were flexible in terms of their life direction, and they felt more malleable to date.Within this, I noticed some patterns. The younger men I slept with had great bodies and even better stamina, à la Cindy Gallop. They were also more likely to want to go out clubbing, drink heavily, and party party party until the wee hours of the morning (or as they say in Mexico, “la madrugada,” one of my favorite Spanish words). I'm not a total grandma, so sometimes I would go out with them, but I generally prefer not to go too hard or drink too much, lest I want to do anything the day after.Dating Older MenLargest Age Difference: 14 years older than me.In the last year or two, I've dated two men who were at least 12 years older than me (aged 42 and 44, I think). Neither of them stuck around for long. The first one was The Photographer, and while age was not a factor in terms of my attraction to him, he was a workaholic who had no intention of ever having a family. He explicitly told me he didn't want anything serious, and when people tell me who they are, I try to believe them. The other 44-year-old guy was recent. We met at a very fancy bar in Mexico City. He was short but very well-dressed, and his daddy vibes were hot enough to get me to have dinner with him. The problem with him was that he had two children with two different women. While money wasn't an issue for him (he worked in hotels and real estate), no matter how much money you have, there are only so many competing baby mamas and children scattered around the city that I want to contend with.Much unlike the younger men I dated, both of these men seemed more stuck in their ways, with more rigid schedules and lifestyles that I would have to box myself into. Both also either had dead or very old parents, and that was also a turnoff for me, as I'd like my children to be able to meet their grandparents if possible, and I don't want to start a relationship with one foot already in the grave.ConclusionDoes age difference matter in relationships? The answer seems to be no. The only potential downside of dating someone much older is the possibility of being widowed at a younger age and then living alone. But I already live alone anyway, so to me, this wouldn't make a difference.Whether you're attracted to people of all ages is a different question. As is somewhat reflected in the statistics, my range of dating men who are older than me is much wider than men who are younger than me. Yet I can imagine that if I'm single, aged 50+, I will want to jump on the cougar bandwagon and get a taste of that potentially more satisfying and committed relationship with a younger man. Whoopee!Ultimately, I believe that if you both like each other, then none of the other “socially acceptable” bullcrap really matters, and you shouldn't care what other people think. Don't try to follow a baseless rule like the “half your age plus seven” method because it won't make a difference to the success of your relationship anyway. Also, try not to judge other people. Love is love, and as long as no one is committing statutory rape, there's literally nothing wrong with dating someone with a wild age difference, as far as I'm concerned. And given the other social trends that women are becoming more financially independent, getting better educated, and acquiring more resources of our own, it seems perfectly fit and well that we might want to date men who are younger than us for the same reasons of attractiveness and youth that older men have traditionally sought out in us for ages.Final ThoughtSo, my wonderful readers, what do you think? Would you date someone 15 years younger than you or 15 years older than you? Can you be brave and admit you wanted to date someone who was outside the bounds of a “socially acceptable” age difference?Paid subscribers can battle it out in the comments.Love to you all, and enjoy the rest of your weekend,Tash

The newest directions in 21st Century trumpet performance are being explored and defined by Courtney Jones, an award-winning Bach performing and recording artist who has also emerged as a leading figure in contemporary performance and pedagogy, conducting, and service to inner-city youth through music outreach programs. An artist who transcends stylistic boundaries and in high demand as a clinician and adjudicator, Courtney has performed with classical ensembles and orchestras throughout the United States, internationally, and has won multiple solo awards and accolades through regional and national trumpet competitions. This journey began in Jones' hometown of Columbus, Georgia. While earning his Bachelor of Music degree at Columbus State University, Courtney performed with various Columbus State University ensembles and recorded with artists such as Jens Lindemann, Joseph Alessi, John Bruce Yeh, and the Columbus State University Wind Ensemble under the Naxos Music label. While completing his Master of Music degree in Trumpet Performance at Shenandoah Conservatory in Winchester, Virginia, Courtney studied under the instruction of J. Carlton Rowe, former Principal Trumpet of the “President's Own” United States Marine Band, Craig Fraedrich of The U.S. Army Blues, and performed as Substitute Principal with the Loudon Symphony Orchestra of Leesburg, Virginia. He also had additional studies with Steve Hendrickson of the National Symphony Orchestra Courtney conducted his doctoral studies at UCLA under the instruction of international soloist and former lead trumpet of the Canadian Brass, Jens Lindemann. During his time at UCLA, Courtney worked as a Teaching Associate for lecture courses and provided weekly lessons for university trumpet students under the direction of Lindemann. Winner of a Gluck Fellowship, Jones was then selected as the conductor of the UCLA Brass Ensemble during the latter part of his residency. His musicological research during this period explored 21st Century ideological and transcendental concepts of performance practice focusing on a lesser-known contemporary work of composer Frank Ticheli, The First Voice for Solo Bb Trumpet. The intention of this dissertation was to broaden the technical capabilities of 21st century performers and shed light on the ideological and philosophical foundations of Ticheli's composition. While the study is largely analytic and interpretive, the main purpose and goal is to help modern trumpet players develop more confidence in performing Ticheli's music and other contemporary compositions in related genres. Before completing his doctorate, Courtney was appointed as the Visiting Assistant Professor of Trumpet at the Voxman School of Music at the University of Iowa. During his two-year residency Jones served as the Principal Trumpet for the Iowa Faculty Brass Quintet, taught Graduate Brass Pedagogy and Literature, and served on recital and graduate committees. He was asked to lead the University's top performing Jazz Ensemble (director on leave) and produced an engaging performance concert by the University's Brass Ensemble (which had previously been inactive for a number of years) to showcase the importance of Brass Bands as an engaging training ground for solidifying technical and pedagogical facility for brass players. In addition to his applied obligations, Courtney performed with Orchestra Iowa, the Dubuque Symphony, and gave solo performances with both the Cedar Rapids Municipal Band and New Horizons Band. One of which was the Midwest Premiere of Kim Scharnberg's Travelogue for Eb Trumpet. Besides performing with well-known jazz and popular artists, he has shared the stage with famous artists or groups such as Kenny Burrell, B.B. King, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Rihanna, Lalo Schifrin, Vanessa Williams, Boy George and The Culture Club, Jennifer Cox, and Stevie Wonder. In addition to his solo performance career, Courtney has performed with the Golden States Pop Orchestra, the Southeast Symphony Orchestra, the Macao Orchestra (China), the Pasadena Orchestra, the Debut Orchestra, the Inspiravi Chamber Orchestra, the Gateways Festival Orchestra, the Orchid City Brass Band, the Oslo Philharmonic (Norway), the Long Beach Opera, the Chamber Singers of Iowa City, the Salt-River Brass Band, the Gateways Brass Collective, and most recently had his Carnegie Hall and Metropolitan Art Museum performance debut this past May in New York. His feature film and television credits include music performed for “Glee,” “Notes from Dad,” “Cougar Town,” and “Criminal Minds” among other productions listed under the media tab of his website. Prior to his appointment at Florida Atlantic University as the Assistant Professor of Trumpet & Artistic Director of Jazz and Chamber Ensembles, Jones was a Lecturer of Music at Columbus State University while recording his Solo CD project, “Between 2 Worlds,” at the Joyce and Henry Schwob School of Music. Between teaching and solo performing engagements, Dr. Jones has and continues to promote music education and instrumental performance in inner-city schools through the Music Outreach Program at UCLA, The Harmony Project of Los Angeles, Trumpets 4 Kids in Dallas, Texas, and the Nat King Cole Generation Hope, Inc. Each of these programs offers schoolchildren art-in-education opportunities. These programs are essential because they provide underserved, inner-city students, and communities with musical training and mentorship that would otherwise be inaccessible.

Christa Miller is no stranger to hugely successful TV shows. She appeared on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and Seinfeld, did over 180 episodes on The Drew Carey Show, over 80 on Scrubs, over 100 on Cougar Town, and now she's a standout on an Apple TV+ gem, a series gearing up for what will hopefully be quite the awards season run, Shrinking. The series was co-created by Bill Lawrence, Brett Goldstein, and Jason Segel with Segel also starring as Jimmy Laird, a therapist struggling with the death of his wife. That means Jimmy hasn't been the responsible, attentive parent he needs to be for his daughter, Alice (Lucite Maxwell). But, that's where Miller's Liz comes in. She's the Lairds' neighbor and the person who winds up taking responsibility for Alice when she needs support and an active guardian. Liz has a massive heart and many assets, but stepping back isn't one of them, so Jimmy finally starts to make moves to put his life back together and reconnect with Alice, Liz isn't quite ready to hand the reins over.In celebration of Shrinking's acclaimed first season, Miller joined me for a Collider Ladies Night chat to recap the path she took in the industry and discuss her approach to playing Liz on Shrinking. Enjoy! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

“We were interns together at A Band Apart Productions, which was Quentin Tarantino's production company,” says Justin Halpern, about his partnership with Patrick Schumacker. “We worked in commercials and music videos…we never say Quentin, ever. Ever.” Back then, Halpern wanted to be a screenwriter and Schumacker wanted to be a commercial and music video director. “I always enjoyed writing, but I think I was more passionate about communicating through visuals, or words being secondary. That's perhaps too reductive, but I think that's why we make a good pairing.” As writing partners, the duo have credits for $#*! My Dad Says, Cougar Town, iZombie, Harley Quinn, and Abbott Elementary. “I come at ideas from a visual or aesthetic place and Justin comes at it from more of a character or psychological place. It works for us.” “We started out feeling like we both had to do the exact same job. We wrote stuff together. We directed together, on the side, when we still had day jobs. But when we got our own show on the air, we felt like we needed to be this two-headed entity performing the same tasks. But now, we've developed a system to divide and conquer.” Halpern spends the bulk of his time in the Writer's Room focusing on story breaking. Schumacker floats between the Writer's Room and set to oversee the filming process. Want more? Steal my first book, Ink by the Barrel - Secrets From Prolific Writers right now for free. “Even when you think something is set in stone—literal, actual stone—it changes.” Take it from actor-turned-entrepreneur and rock-climbing aficionado Ryan Devlin: successful pivots involve constant micro-adjustments. Even when you feel most stuck, you can find a new way forward, but you'll need to double down on your unique skills and abilities. I had so much fun chatting with Ryan about starting his give-back company, This Saves Lives, and his journey from a successful actor living the Hollywood life to an experimental entrepreneur piloting a new podcast based on his passion. Ryan shares why chasing celebrity can be a slippery slope, how getting used to rejection helps with business-building, contributing to something bigger than you, finding flow, and why getting bored in your career isn't always bad. More About Ryan: Ryan Devlin is a social entrepreneur, rock climbing enthusiast, and actor known for roles on shows like Brothers & Sisters, Veronica Mars, Cougar Town, Jane the Virgin, and Grey's Anatomy. He hosts The Struggle Climbing podcast, where climbers share their struggles and breakthroughs in nutrition, training, tactics, and the mental game. He is also co-founder of This Saves Lives, a company dedicated to feeding children and helping them thrive.

Wildlife and urban development don't usually go well together. Roads in particular fracture the habitats of wide-ranging animals. It restricts their movements and makes it harder for them to find food or a mate. But biologists and urban planners have started working together –- crafting a plan to try to help pumas move more safely around the city. And in the process this one cat, dubbed P-22, has turned into something of a celebrity—the symbol of a movement to redesign our cities and make the built environment more friendly to animals.Cougar Town

A recent report from scooper DanielRPK suggests Loki's breakout character Agent Mobius will feature in Wade Wilson's first Marvel Cinematic Universe outing. It's also claimed that the timeline-hopping investigator will play a major part in the film, leading many fans to speculate that Deadpool 3 will include some multiversal shenanigans. At the time of writing, neither Marvel Studios nor Disney has made an official announcement regarding Agent Mobius' return in the Merc with the Mouth's third blockbuster. Ryan Reynolds Would Love a Taylor Swift Cameo in Deadpool 3 https://www.etonline.com/ryan-reynolds-on-taking-a-break-from-acting-and-viral-taylor-swift-theories-exclusive-194032 After months of fan speculation about a possible Taylor Swift cameo in Deadpool 3, Ryan Reynolds has finally addressed the rumors. As reported by ET, when asked about a potential collaboration with the Grammy-award-winning singer, the Wade Wilson actor voiced his enthusiasm for the idea. "Are you kidding me? I would do anything for that woman. She's a genius," Reynolds explained. Unfortunately, though the Deadpool star would love to have the iconic singer included in the film, it doesn't seem to be on the cards. RUMOR: Deadpool 3 Will Revisit Previous Fox Franchises Including Fantastic Four https://www.cbr.com/deadpool-3-revisit-previous-fox-movies-fantastic-four-rumor/ Deadpool 3 will reportedly see the Merc with the Mouth visiting some of Fox's superhero franchises. As per a rumor by scooper DanielRPK, Wade Wilson will be taking a trip to various other superhero films to achieve an as-yet-unknown goal. While it's currently unknown how Deadpool 3 will integrate these franchises into its plot, the report specifies that he'll arrive in the X-Men movies as well as the 2005 Fantastic Four film. It's worth noting that neither Marvel Studios nor Disney have made any kind of mention of this particular rumor which has yet to be officially verified. David Harbour Hopes to Play Red Guardian Far Beyond Thunderbolts https://www.gamesradar.com/david-harbour-talks-santa-stranger-things-and-thunderbolts/ David Harbour has made it clear he's loving the role of Red Guardian, and the Stranger Things actor would like to keep embodying the Russian super-soldier long after the release of Thunderbolts in 2024. "I really like him," Harbour said of Alexei Shostako, also known as Marvel's Red Guardian, in a recent interview with GamesRadar+. When asked if he'd be open to playing Red Guardian "over and over" in future projects, Harbour was enthusiastic. "I do. I love Red Guardian. I can't wait to pull back the layers. The great thing about him is that he's not very well-defined in the comics, like some of the other Marvel superheroes. So we can play with him in a different way, and be surprising and unexpected." Harbour first appeared as Red Guardian in 2021's Black Widow, in which he acted as a father figure to both Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson) and Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh). Tom Holland Reportedly Closes Deal for Spider-Man 4 https://thedirect.com/article/tom-holland-spider-man-4-contract-update Tom Holland has reportedly closed a deal to return as Peter Parker/Spider-Man in Sony Pictures and Marvel Studio's upcoming Spider-Man 4. According to multiple insiders on Twitter (via The Direct), Holland has signed a new Marvel/Sony contract that will see the actor return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the beloved Wall-Crawler. While it is currently unknown how many films the new deal will cover, Cosmic Circus' Alex Perez tweeted that "Holland's contract does not feature Disney+ appearances," which will surely disappoint fans who were hoping to see the webslinger cameo in the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again. At the time of writing, reps for Marvel, Sony and Holland have not responded to the recent contract reports. DISNEY+ Marvel Releases Oddly Heartwarming Werewolf by Night Making-Of Doc https://www.cbr.com/marvel-werewolf-by-night-behind-the-scenes-doc-michael-giacchino/ Marvel Studios released a new documentary, titled Special Presentation: Director by Night, which follows the journey of composer Michael Giacchino as he makes his directorial debut with Werewolf by Night. The hour-long making-of documentary offers a behind-the-scenes look at the production for Werewolf by Night. Along with interviews with Michael Giacchino and his family members, Director by Night also features appearances from the cast, including stars Gael García Bernal and Laura Donnelly. According to The Illuminerdi, WandaVision creator Jac Schaeffer will reportedly direct at least one episode of the upcoming Disney+ series. Gandja Monteiro, best known for her work on Showtime's The Chi, is reported to be taking up the director's seat as well. The report also claims that Agatha: Coven of Chaos will be a nine-episode limited series, putting it at the same episode count as WandaVision and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. Whether the episodes run for the same length as these two shows has not been revealed and the reports have not been officially confirmed by Marvel Studios. Following in the footsteps of Wandavision, the series starring Kathryn Hahn's iconic witch will also only last a single season. DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN: NEW DISNEY+ SERIES SET TO FILM IN NYC IN 2023: EXCLUSIVE https://www.theilluminerdi.com/2022/11/07/daredevil-born-again-film-nyc/ According to The Illuminerdi, Born Again will shoot on location in New York City with production commencing in February 2023. The Marvel Cinematic Universe series will then film its 18-episode first season over the following 11 months, with production expected to last until the year's end in December. Although most Marvel projects are filmed in the tax-friendly state of Georgia, Born Again will shoot in New York, meaning the series will be able to deliver a more authentic New York feel to the MCU's Hell's Kitchen. Netflix's Daredevil series was also shot in New York during its three-season run. Marvel Reportedly In Talks with Courteney Cox to Join Wonder Man Cast https://www.cbr.com/courteney-cox-talks-wonder-man-cast-report/ Scream 6 star Courteney Cox is being eyed for a role in Marvel Studios' Wonder Man. As per a rumor by scooper DanielRPK, Marvel has reportedly met with Cox to discuss her joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe with an undisclosed role in the upcoming Disney+ series Wonder Man. Cox is an acting veteran, especially in the television industry where she has been part of several successful sitcoms, including Family Ties and Cougar Town. However, she is still perhaps best known for her starring role as Monica Geller on the NBC sitcom Friends, which aired from 1994 to 2004. On this week's Talkhouse Podcast we've got a musician and an actor who also both happen to host their own podcasts—do they let just anybody do that now?—Rhett Miller and Busy Philipps. Miller is best known as frontman and primary songwriter for the Old 97's, a band that's celebrating its 30th year together in 2022 and which is at least partly responsible for the phrase “alt-country” coming into existence. But don't hold Miller responsible for lazy genre tags: He has written literally hundreds of incredible songs that transcend any pigeonhole you might want to shove him in. In addition to a dozen Old 97's records, he's also put out eight solo albums, and he tours regularly both on his own and with the 97's. All that and, like I said, he's got a podcast: Wheels Off features Miller in conversation with other creative folks, talking about creativity—kinda like the chat you're about to hear! Before that, check out “Go Through You,” from Rhett Miller's new solo album The Misfit. You can see why Miller has won some diehard fans, among them actor Busy Philipps, who was introduced to the world via the cult classic TV show Freaks And Geeks back in 1999. (You've seen Freaks and Geeks, right? If not, please remedy that immediately.) Philipps went on to a ton of other TV and film roles, everything from ER to Cougar Town to her own chat show to her current gig on the very funny Girls5Eva on Peacock. She's also built a passionate following by just being herself on the podcast Busy Philipps is Doing Her Best. If you've never heard it, you'll get a little taste of what it's like in this conversation with her friend Rhett. The two are amazingly all over the place in this chat, talking about everything from why the Target stores in New Jersey are better than those in the big city, about how Philipps is dealing with her pandemic divorce—very well, as it turns out—bad advice received from a genius, Jon Brion, and how much fun it is to read ads for your podcast. I can relate. They also go deep in discussing the genius of Taylor Swift, which results in what may be a Talkhouse Podcast first: real tears captured during an episode. It's a really great chat between two really charming people. Enjoy. Thanks for listening to the Talkhouse Podcast and thanks to Busy Philipps and Rhett Miller for chatting. If you liked what you heard, please follow Talkhouse—and Wheels Off, and Busy Philipps is Doing Her Best—on your favorite podcasting platform. This episode was produced by Myron Kaplan, and the Talkhouse theme is composed and performed by the Range. See you next time!

Robert Horry and the crew start right away with Steph Curry's jabs at LeBron and the city of LA during his ESPY's monologue, and how he might have reignited his rivalry with the city of Boston. But Rob feels like that city can't possibly hate him any more than they already do, and talks about other fan bases that get fired up about their teams. Plus Rob talks about how obnoxious Auburn fans were to him, how the city of Boston has treated LeBron, and why AAU fights are running rampant across the country. Rob also gets a little hot when he finds out he's not featured in the new NBA 2K game, and talks about how Steph's rating should NOT be a 99 in the new game because he doesn't play good defense. And of course the Zach Wilson cougar drama takes a hilarious turn, Rob throws in his take on Tom Brady's parenting challenges as a famous athlete, and why Rob still goes to the mall. An amazing Big Shot of the Week and a round of Cougar Town round out the show!
In 1994, Courteney Cox landed the role that would change her life and make her a star around the world – playing Monica Geller on the hit show Friends. In this week's “Sunday Sitdown,” Willie Geist gets together with the actress to talk about what it was like living inside the bubble of the Friends phenomenon and her impressive career since then, including a successful run of Scream movies, the acclaimed show Cougar Town, and her latest horror comedy series, Shining Vale.
Two Cents Plus Tax co-host Krystal Farmer came by to talk about The Endgame, an overstuffed and underwhelming procedural that tries to do too much and is assembled from the spare parts of too many early-aughts shows. Why do networks still make shows like this? Do we need The Endgame if we still (seriously!) have The Blacklist? And how is Fedorova writing on the sticky side of Post-Its? We fared better going Around The Dial with Severance, a Married At First Sight update, Creamerie, Inventing Anna, Inside The Mind Of A Con Artist, 9-1-1: Lone Star, and Reacher, and gave TV characters (and hosts) some drugs for Extra Credit. Listener Michael hoped we'd visit Cougar Town with a Canon election before Dickens won, Erika Jayne lost (...again), and we answered the door to a hell of a season-clinching Game Time. No need to blackmail the Homeland Secretary -- an all-new Extra Hot Great is all yours. GUESTS
