We have finally come to the end of the Free Willy trilogy! The gang gets into, let's say an average movie. But none the less, the gang gets into their first movie in several weeks. Free Willy 3: The Rescue is a 1997 American family film directed by Sam Pillsbury and written by John Mattson. Released by Warner Bros. under their Warner Bros. Family Entertainment banner, it is the sequel to Free Willy 2: The Adventure Home in addition to being the third film in the Free Willy franchise and final installment of the original storyline as well as the last to be released theatrically. Jason James Richter and August Schellenberg reprise their roles from the previous films while Annie Corley, Vincent Berry and Patrick Kilpatrick joined the cast. The story revolves around Jesse and Randolph attempting to stop a group of whalers, led by its ruthless captain, from illegally hunting Willy while secretly receiving help from an unlikely source involving the captain's young son after an accident changed his view on whales. Filming took place in British Columbia from July 31 to October 10, 1996, where several scenes were shot in Vancouver, Pitt Lake, Britannia Beach, Squamish and Howe Sound. The film is dedicated to Free Willy co-writer Keith A. Walker who died two months after production was completed. Free Willy 3: The Rescue premiered on August 8, 1997. It received mixed reviews from critics and was a box office bomb, grossing $3.4 million.
Free Willy 2: The Adventure Home (also known as Free Willy 2) is a 1995 American family adventure drama film directed by Dwight Little from a screenplay by Karen Janszen, Corey Blechman and John Mattson. It is the sequel to the 1993 film Free Willy and second installment in the Free Willy film series distributed by Warner Bros. under their Warner Bros. Family Entertainment label. Jason James Richter, Jayne Atkinson, August Schellenberg, Michael Madsen and Mykelti Williamson reprise their roles from the first film. New cast members include Jon Tenney and Elizabeth Peña. Unlike the previous film where Keiko played Willy, a robotic double created by Edge Innovations was used to play the eponymous whale while the Free Willy Keiko Foundation devised a plan to bring Keiko to the Oregon Coast Aquarium where he would be rehabilitated from poor health. However, Keiko did make an uncredited appearance, reprising his role as Willy through an archival clip shown in the movie. Set two years after Jesse freed his orca friend Willy whose now reunited with his family which includes sister Luna, brother Littlespot and mother Catspaw, the plot follows Jesse in a race against time after an oil spill separated Willy and his siblings from their mother and it's up to him to get them back home before the oil traps them in the cove for good. Filming commenced in Astoria, Oregon and the San Juan Islands between April and August 1994 with additional filming taking place in California. The film opened on July 19, 1995 to mixed reviews from critics. Despite underperforming at the box office, a third film Free Willy 3: The Rescue was subsequently released in 1997.

If I were to create a mixtape (it'd have to be an old school cassette cos that's probably the last time I made one!) for Amanda and her music life, it'd probably open with The Undertones' Family Entertainment with the classic line “Got To…Keep it In the Family”. I mention family not so much to talk endlessly about the quite rare band structure of her band, Bad Mary – in her words “a band family and family band” - but to segué clumsily into some of the questions that I have for myself about where friendships and family relationships fit into today's lifestyle such as…. Do we make friends the same way as we used to do?We have the largest number of generations alive at the same time – do we bridge these generations?Do we make enough time for them?Do we have friends for life?Do we appreciate friends and family? How do they impact our wellbeing? What role do virtual friendships play? This is a very beautiful conversation with Amanda and I'm grateful for her openly talking about some difficult subjects. Step into the digital crossroads where technology meets humanity in this thought-provoking episode of Unholy Union. Lindz and Russ delve into the perplexing world of tech layoffs, with Google's billion-dollar severance packages raising eyebrows and questions about the future of work. They ponder whether an AI arms race is contributing to a job apocalypse, as artificial intelligence begins to show signs of deception, resistance, and perhaps, a hint of sentience. The conversation shifts to the potential and peril of Neuralink's brain implants, debating the technology's promise against the backdrop of dystopian fears. As they weave through the implications of AI in our daily lives, they touch on Netflix's new adaptations and the pressure of nostalgia in entertainment, questioning the need to resurrect classics like Beetlejuice and the wisdom of remaking treasured series. From the cautionary tales of travel safety to the lighter moments of family bonding over Fortnite and Roblox, this episode strikes a balance between serious reflection and playful banter. Whether you're a tech enthusiast, a true crime aficionado, or just someone trying to navigate the ever-changing landscape of modern life, join Russ and Lindz for a journey through the fascinating and sometimes frightening frontiers of our time. --- Want more of the show? Scott Brown is the Director of Marketing for Family Entertainment Group, which operates FECs of all scopes and sizes throughout the United States. In this interview, Scott talks about how the way in which guests are attracted to the center varies based on the location that they are visiting, as the messaging needs to be completely different in locations that serve local residents versus locations that capitalize on existing tourists and foot traffic. Scott also talks about striving toward excellence, which includes the way that employees are onboarded and recognized for their efforts, and that the employees are often the stars of the show, rather than the attractions that the guests are visiting for. Additionally, Scott says that technology plays a role in the guest experience strategy, particularly as you gain additional intelligence on your guests and how you use it to serve them better. Scott shares that one FEG's guest experience philosophies is to bring family and friends together through the universal language of fun.
