Charlotte's hospitality and retail scene is changing rapidly, but what's really driving the evolution? Industry experts agree that Charlotte's hospitality market is thriving but becoming more competitive, with new players entering the scene and raising consumer expectations. Neighborhoods like South End have been pivotal in putting Charlotte on the map. However, the suburban retail market is now gaining momentum — like in SouthPark, Ballantyne and Huntersville. A new report, called the Charlotte Hospitality and Retail Guide 2025, lays out the key trends shaping the city's retail landscape. In this episode, Ledger editor Tony Mecia is joined by three contributors to the report: Daniel Gibson of NiceDay, a marketing agency that specializes in retail, hospitality and real estate; Adam Williams of Rebel Rebel, an urban retail advisory firm that provides full-service brokerage and consulting services; and Bryan Southwick of Southwick Architecture + Interiors, a hospitality-focused architecture and interior design firmThey break down the city's shifting development patterns and the rise of smaller-format retail, new expectations from consumers and how developers and restaurateurs can adapt to stand out in a competitive market. This podcast episode is brought to you by Coca-Cola Consolidated, Charlotte's local bottler and the largest Coca-Cola bottler in the US. Coke Consolidated recently invested $15 million into its Monroe facility, which included a new technical training academy, the first of its kind within the Coca-Cola System. Daniel Gibson is a painter of the California landscape, a visualizer of a certain kind of desert oasis dreamt of in a surreal dream as opposed to a place you have been. But to be honest, I wasn't aware of this fantastical world of desert sun, flora and fauna in Gibson's work; I just wanted it all to be real. I don't think that is important; what is important is that Gibson is capturing an essence of fantasy and freedom, a rural and desert basins, the Imperial Valley of Southeast California. This is where Daniel grew up, and though he has lived in San Diego and now Los Angeles for years, he takes this childhood daydream of his surroundings with him in some of the most beautifully phantasmagorical paintings being made today. Gibson's path to a fine art career took many twists and turns, from ArtCenter to graphic design, street posters to working at Levi's. He found himself in the studio of Mary Weatherford, another artist of color bursts and abstractions, where he learned the details of a career artists and the blueprint for dedication. The pandemic allowed him more time in the studio, and when the world was shut away, Gibson developed a body of work that has seen the galleries of Almine Rech, Nazarian / Curcio and new show just about to open at Marquez Art Projects (MAP) in Miami. In this conversation on The Unibrow's Radio Juxtapoz podcast, Gibson speaks to Juxtapoz editor Evan Pricco about a semi-retirement set for 2025 (aka, a break from shows to develop new work), growing up near the California-Mexico border, being self-taught at painting, the emotional parts of paintings and what he learned from Weatherford's practice. The Unibrow's Radio Juxtapoz podcast is hosted by Juxtapoz editor, Evan Pricco. Episode 157 was recorded in Los Angeles on March 11, 2025. This episode of Radio Juxtapoz is brought to you by the generous support of the Artemizia Foundation, a world class museum of contemporary, graffiti and street art in Bisbee, Arizona.
Daniel Gibson makes oil paintings that depict desert landscapes full of flowers and butterflies, plant life, and big open skies. Some works also include figures hiding within the flora or in shamanic poses. Danny talks about deserts and horizon lines, little brother drawing magic, being locked into a painting and chasing the next image, memories and visceral emotional responses in painting, beauty as a Trojan horse, resetting and recovering through drawing, self-awareness and gratitude in the studio, and painting as putting puzzle pieces together.View Danny's work HERESupport Deep Color HERE

Two things you probably don't know: 1) your favorite museum probably holds human remains and 2) it's completely legal to sell human bones on the internet. Not surprisingly, those two things have caused a lot of controversy. In this episode, Tanya Marsh joins Ben for a conversation about recent developments in the legal-social-political nexus of dead bodies; the controversy surrounding the acquisition and treatment of human remains in American museums and what we'll simply call “the Harvard morgue case.” Tanya Marsh is Professor of Law at Wake Forest University, where she specializes in the law of human remains. She is the author of The Law of Human Remains (2015) and co-author (with Daniel Gibson) of Cemetery Law: The Common Law of Burying Grounds in the United States (2015). This episode was edited by Ben Sawyer. Articles mentioned in this episode: Zachary Small, “Facing Scrutiny, a Museum That Holds 12,000 Human Remains Changes Course,” New York Times, Oct. 15, 2023. Here's to reaching my 100th episode of Fire and Soul! It’s been quite a journey...Those of you who have been listening a while will remember that podcasting wasn’t a dream I ever had. When I was younger, I dreamed of being an actress or TV Host. And I finally got the chance to live that dream in my mid 30s for a decade, but the dream ultimately changed when I attended my first Date with Destiny seminar with Tony Robbins in 2017. I woke up to knowing I was made for more… something deep in my soul felt called to serve, contribute and make a positive difference in this world. But I had no idea where or how to begin. That's when a friend encouraged me to start a podcast and six months later, this show came to life. With an insatiable curiosity about all things mindset and success, I started having conversations with friends, mentors, thinkers, geniuses, and inspirational people from all over the globe. I interviewed them about the routines, mindsets, habits, principles, and actions that have led them to fulfilling lives, and I’ve learned something powerful from each and every one of them. When I look back at my early episodes, I cringe a little — but no one starts with mastery. I’ve learned a lot since those first few episodes — about podcasting and about life — and the journey has been its own reward every step of the way. This special 100th episode is a testament to the last two and a half years of learning and growth, commitment and courage. I’m excited to be looking back on some of the highlights from the last two years of making The Fire and Soul Podcast and reflecting on the many lessons I’ve learned on this incredible journey. Why You Should Listen to this Special 100th Episode Right Now…The last two and a half years of podcasting have been extraordinary, but the interview clips I share today are definitely highlights. My mind was blown by the insight and wisdom of each of these remarkable people. In this 100th episode, I’m highlighting moments from seven guests who made a profound impact on my life. I’ll share how they each inspired me to open my mind and heart, face my fears, step into inspired action, and how they each helped me create a more epically aligned life. If you’re ready to achieve mastery at starting a relationship with Jairek Robbins, master femininity with Alison Armstrong, master a money mindset with Scott Harris, overcome your limiting beliefs with Jack Canfield, learn how to have a life changing miracle with the co-founder of Rythmia Dr. Jeff McNairy, how to build on the two indicators of 'awakening' with Panache Desai, and learn how to be intentional about race with my dear friend Daniel Gibson, then join me on Episode 100!Here's to Fire and Soul!In This Episode You Will Learn: What Fire & Soul means (2:03)How my podcast journey began (4:55)Jairek Robbins’ method to starting a successful relationship (8:17)Alison Armstrong’s quick fix for creating a sense of femininity (17:07)Scott Harris unpacks the "feather, brick, truck" analogy to illustrate how the universe communicates with us (25:52)How Jack Canfield’s experience with the plant medicine Ayahuasca inspired me and many others to try it at Rythmia (34:07)Dr. Jeff McNairy explains Rythmia and why 94% of guests report experiencing a life changing miracle (38:06)Panache Desai’s guideposts around how to know when you’ve reached enlightenment (45:11)Why Daniel Gibson is embracing his Black heritage more than ever (53:59)Resources: Jairek RobbinsAlison ArmstrongScott HarrisJack CanfieldDr. Jeff McNairyPanache DesaiDaniel Gibson See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Here’s to doing the right thing! This pod features a long-overdue guest, but this conversation comes at exactly the right time. You’ll meet one of my best friends of 26 years: the incredible Daniel Gibson. Daniel, a graduate from Yale, is a passionate community leader and advocate for social justice, who spent the last 15 years championing causes to eradicate racism and poverty in the United States. He’s created and implemented nationally recognized programs for jail and prison reform, affordable housing, access to medical care for the chronically homeless, HIV/AIDS prevention and LGBTQ+ rights. He’s dedicated to addressing the root causes of economic and health disparities experienced by vulnerable and marginalized communities. Throughout this episode, Daniel and I have an intentional conversation about race. He discusses his relationship with his Blackness, how he’s learned to embrace it, and what that means for him. We also talk about an incredibly vulnerable post that Daniel shared on his Facebook about why he chose not to march in the protests for justice for George Floyd. This is a deeply meaningful, intentional, and needed conversation with a beautiful soul. Some Questions I Ask: Why do you think you have never brought your blackness to the party of our friendship? (9:24)How can people begin the internal healing process when working toward becoming anti-racist? (13:48)In This Episode, You Will Learn: What led Daniel to become a social worker. (4:53)How Daniel learned to embrace his Black heritage. (9:29)What being authentically anti-racist looks like. (14:12)Why Daniel chose not to march at the protests. Erica chats with Prime 7 Newsreader, Daniel Gibson, about how the media are communicating to the nation about Covid-19.
Daniel studied as a surveyor at university, he was on a sport scholarship and worked part time so was able to buy his first house whilst at uni aged 18, he didn’t want to become chartered so when he graduated he set up my own surveying company but didn’t enjoy it and sold it fairly quickly. Daniel took a job within a national letting agency to gain some experience within the property market, from there he went on to work in recruitment to develop his sales skills. After a year being employed Daniel launched my own letting agency aged 22. That company, Daniel Craig Residential, still runs today, they specialise in portfolio development and management. Today they own over 300 properties and have over 1,000 properties on their books for other investors.Over the last three years Daniel has been involved in three grade 2 listed conversions with a total value of circa £15m. One they have retained and currently let as a block for serviced accommodation in Durham city centre, the second project he sold my share in this year and the third project in Newcastle city centre he is currently working on with an investor. They deal with everything from low value housing benefit properties to purpose built student accommodation to luxury housing and cover just about every market in the UK. This year has seen the biggest change to the industry, with the introduction of the tenant fee ban. It’s hit landlords hard, they have a number of our properties managed by other agents in areas too far away for us to look after themselves so I have a very good understanding of what agents are doing in response to the fee ban. The main response has been to increase a landlords fee to make up for the loss in money from the tenant. They have taken a different approach and kept our fee structure the same, the result has been we have taken on a number of landlords who otherwise would have seen their profits diminish further after years of attacks on mortgage allowances and increased legislation. Hello, My name is Daniel Gibson, 5 years ago the Lord laid on my heart to attempt to unite and reach the world through internet video. I started my company Multiply Media to reach people for the Gospel through platforms like Youtube, Facebook, Instagram, etc. It has been a road of a lot of learning and trial and error. I am also a Youth Pastor in Missouri, and in the last year have become a Certified Trainer for Dare2Share ministries. During this time, the Lord has given the holy discontentment that my soul has been crying out for year about, form and shape through the Gospel Advancing Movement. So, the challenge has been to figure out how to apply this to my ministry online. Recently through a great deal of prayer, my wife and I have felt the Lord lay on our hearts a new path. I have grown up in Church, I have heard story after story of revival, and talk of our need for revival. But never have I experienced it within our culture. That is what I want to change through this new project. Not just for me but for everyone. My wife and I are preparing to take a year and travel across the US and documenting Churches that are experiencing revival. Specifically, those experiencing more than 20% new conversion growth. We want to tell their stories and let people see that the Gospel is alive and well here. That when we are willing to say, “here am I Lord, send me” He will come. We hope to set out on our journey in late October, shortly after the birth of our first child. This is an undertaking that I am so fearfully excited for. I want to highlight along the way, organizations like yours that are helping churches get to this place. I don’t want to push and one denomination or organization, rather show the diversity of Gods people and how when we seek to work together we succeed. I would love to join forces with Pulse and other great organizations to bring this to light. If you would be interested in talking with me more about this please call me at (417)766-5362. Thank you for taking the time to read this. God Bless, Dan Gibson
Death is something that all humans have in common. How we dealt with death is not. The cemeteries that occupy prominent places in the American landscape, as well as the twenty-one thousand funeral homes in operation across the country, are products of the time and place in which they emerged. In this episode, we speak with Wake Forest's Tanya Marsh, to learn about the historic forces at work in the creation of America's death care industry. If you've ever wondered why we embalm our dead, whether or not it's legal to be buried in your own back yard, or what happened to the bodies of slain Civil War soldiers, you'll get your answers here. Tanya Marsh is Professor of Law at Wake Forest University and one of the foremost experts on Mortuary Law and the history of cemeteries in the United States. She has published three books in her field of expertise, including The Law of Human Remains (2015) & Cemetery Law: The Common Law of Burying Grounds in the United States (Co-authored w/ Daniel Gibson, 2015). On this episode of DLEW, I talk with Chicago-based dance artist Daniel Gibson. Artistry is a quality that seems impossible to completely define - but how can we teach artistry if we can’t explain what it is? On this DLEW, Daniel shares a unique perspective on defining artistry from the world of competitive dance. Dance Like Everyone’s Watching with Andrea Muhlbauer is the show that brings you inspiration and insight into the world of dance and choreography. Andrea and her amazing guests are saying the things that no one else will. D.L.E.W. will tackle the MAJOR problems facing dance and the arts: the diminishing of audiences, the rise of new technologies, and the loss of artistic purpose. Slightly controversial opinions and real talk are guaranteed.
