The Narco-Satánicos were a notorious criminal cult based in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico, that became infamous in the late 1980s for combining drug trafficking with ritualistic killings. The group was led by Adolfo de Jesús Constanzo, a Cuban-American who called himself a "palo mayombe" priest—a religion with African-Cuban roots that he distorted into violent, occult practices. Key Facts:1. LeadershipAdolfo Constanzo was the leader and spiritual figurehead. He gained followers among drug traffickers and law enforcement, who believed his rituals brought protection and power.Sara Aldrete, a college student, became his second-in-command and was dubbed the "High Priestess."2. Beliefs and PracticesThe group practiced a twisted version of Palo Mayombe, involving animal and human sacrifices.Constanzo believed blood rituals would protect their drug operations and make them invisible to police.Victims were sometimes tortured and mutilated as part of these rituals.3. Criminal ActivitiesThe cult was heavily involved in drug trafficking, especially smuggling marijuana across the U.S.–Mexico border. They operated on a ranch called "Rancho Santa Elena" near Matamoros, which became the site of gruesome discoveries.4. The Murder of Mark KilroyTheir activities came to light after the 1989 abduction and murder of Mark Kilroy, a University of Texas student on spring break.Kilroy was kidnapped, tortured, and killed as a human sacrifice. The high-profile case led U.S. and Mexican authorities to investigate the cult.5. Collapse and AftermathPolice raided Rancho Santa Elena and discovered numerous mutilated bodies buried on the property.Constanzo died in a shootout with police in Mexico City in May 1989—reportedly after ordering one of his followers to kill him rather than be captured.Several cult members, including Sara Aldrete, were captured and received lengthy prison sentences.Cultural ImpactThe case shocked both Mexico and the U.S., blending true crime with horror elements. It inspired books, documentaries, and films due to its disturbing mix of drug crime and ritualistic occultism.Note: I was very limited on what I was able to ask Sara, due to her being under contract for a documentary at the time.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/unforbidden-truth--4724561/support.

I'm excited to welcome our guest expert to the podcast today, Tim Kilroy. If this is your first time being introduced to Tim — he's the Founder of Build Your Agency Better, where he helps agencies fix what's broken and grow the right way. He's been in the trenches, he's led from the front — and he knows his stuff when it comes to agency growth. I invited Tim to join me today because I wanted to dig into his perspectives around agency biz dev — specifically, I recently read one of Tim's LinkedIn posts and thought, “Yep — this is right on the money.” The headline of that post? “5 things to fix that will boost your close rate.” And that's exactly what we unpack in this episode. Tim and I break down each of the five — piece by piece — so you can take his insights and apply them directly into your sales process. I'd like you to keep two questions in mind as we go through Tim's 5 fixes: First — are you actually doing all five? If not — you've now got a clear set of action steps to put into practice. Second — if you are doing them — could you be doing them with deeper excellence, more consistency, and greater impact? If you take the insights and wisdom Tim shares in this episode and actually apply them — you'll remove friction from your sales process, you'll create more momentum with prospects — and you'll make your agency an easier “yes.” What you will learn in this episode: Why knowing what problem you're solving, and for who, makes biz dev so much easier Why premature pitching shuts down momentum — and how to keep your sales conversations on track The “return on understanding” metric that could transform your discovery process How to use your right-fit prospect's language, pain points, and context to position your agency as an easy yes Why clarity around next-steps is essential The truth about many agency case studies Simple but overlooked shifts that can turn your biz dev into a repeatable, reliable system — no matter what the market is doing Resources: Website: https://timkilroy.com/ LinkedIn Personal: https://www.linkedin.com/in/timkilroy/ LinkedIn Business: https://www.linkedin.com/company/agencygrowthcoach/ Agency Assessment

A woman tells her son about his early life. About the months and years that he will by now have forgotten. When he was a baby, then a toddler, and when she was going into battle every day. For him first, and only then for herself. It's a battle fought on many fronts. Against exhaustion, against time, against the loss of selfhood, against an increasingly absent husband, and against a society that values women less than men, and perhaps mothers least of all. And with no guarantee that she, that they, will come out on top. Between a testimony and a confession, between a lesson and a warning to the man her boy will become Soldier Sailor is devastating, uplifting, punishing, galvanising, vertiginous, infuriating, honest, raw, painful, and illuminating…in short, as close a representation of the early days of parenthood that can be committed to words.
