Listen as he shares his exciting journey with Geordie Wardman. What You’ll Learn What to look out for in a contract crew The book Dane launched. Was it a business model or a passion project? Why entrepreneurs should hire experts to help solve their customer’s painful problems Demonstrating customer results is a critical part of success in business. Find out why. Why entrepreneurs should be intentional about the goals they want to achieve What happened when Dane realized his talent What triggered Dane into writing a book? How did Dane go about writing his book, Start from Zero? When can an entrepreneur hire without struggling with trust issues? Importance of reading books How to make friends with the mind What freedom is Pricing your products In this Episode Being passionate about something means going beyond limits to achieve what you desire. This approach is the case of Dane Maxwell, who started out working as a hotel tech support. Dane would later learn business and sales, and marketing before venturing into SaaS development with no tech skills at all. Dane tells Geordie that many times the brain of an entrepreneur battle to identify that magic point. It is this confusion that deters you from identifying opportunities at the right time. Many times, another brand may crop up and do something differently that transforms the industry, and overtakes your product. According to Dane, as much as what you do matters, how you do it is more crucial. Dane talks about the launch and progress of his book project. Listen in to know everything about it. Dane ventured into the business world at 22 years old. He believes that had he started earlier, he would probably be worth much more than he is worth today. Listen to his conversation with Geordie as he explains this concept in depth. According to Dane, your consciousness as an entrepreneur can make or break your business. He goes ahead to give a personal example that you need to hear first-hand. Did you know that you are likely to become what you believe you are? Dane tells Geordie how being bullied from a younger age made him believe he was garbage. Little did he know how talented he was. What happened when he finally understood himself, confronted his fears, and took the initiative to change his belief? Listen to his sentiments and learn from the same. Dane opines that one of the highest return on investment (ROI) he has ever achieved was from hiring therapists for business matters. You do not want to miss the part where he explains the importance of hiring a reliable, trustworthy therapist. However, he is also quick to mention that finding a good therapist can be a difficult task. When is the best time to hire, and how do you identify the right person? Dane believes that companies can hire when they have the most leverage. They can also hire when customers come to them in search of solutions. Dane has more to say on this topic that you can only understand by listening to the podcast. Listen to find out his sentiments on finding the right person to hire. Dane discusses his book, Start from Zero, and explains that it is all about mindset. Listen to the podcast and learn more about this book and why every entrepreneur should read it. Do you want to grow wealth? If you do, you need to listen to Dane as he explains the four brains to grow wealth. Dane says making money is neither mystery nor magic. Today I’m talking with Mary Caplin, mother of two and a certified doula. She shares some incredible defining moments in her mothering journey. She talks about paradigm shifts and some sacred moments of grieving through a miscarriage. Key Points from this Episode: Being a mother who is committed is more important than any "accomplishments." Thinking about your commitment to you kids helps you recognize the good that you are doing in your daily life. We can't be perfect 100% of the time, but we can be pretty good at commitment! Learning from other moms around you can help you relax into what you are doing. Letting go and giving our problems over to God will allow Him to carry you. Let go of the negative and it will make room for the hope to come in. You are a woman. You are strong. You are a mother. Just by virtue of being a mother, you are blessed with intuition. It's a real thing and you will be able to make the best decisions that are best for you and your family. Motherhood is vulnerability and strength together. Learning how to go through a grieving process with your spouse is unifying. Speak your feelings out loud in your car alone. Write it out. Talk to a spouse or other loved ones. Let the feelings out to be able to process them.

It’s easy to be ignored in the middle of all the noise in the world today, but as leaders we have to fight through that noise to help others. Rich Cardona joins us today and reminds us why it’s okay for things to get harder when we’re on the path we want to pursue. Rich Cardona is a first generation American and retired Marine Corps attack helicopter pilot. After getting a Masters in Business Administration out of fear he wouldn’t be marketable, he ventured into the traditional workplace and landed a job with Amazon. While he admits the company is the tip of the spear, his experience in fulfillment was extremely ... unfulfilling. He left, moved into his in-laws basement and searched for which of his curiosities could potentially lead to a business of his own. After spending time with and documenting Claude Silver, Vayner Media’s Chief Heart Officer, he realized that there was a need for executives like her to become more visible. Rich Cardona Media was born. Rich’s team helps executives and entrepreneurs become more visible by using video to create long term content and social media strategies. Welcome to the next episode of the Early Accountability Podcast! On this episode, Kimi talks about the best ways to capitalize on free time, whether expected or unexpected, and optimize your productivity. Whether a meeting gets cancelled or you are given an extra day (Leap Day) or you have blocked out some time for yourself, there are ways to make the most of that time and not just waste it binging a show or scrolling through social media. The best way to guarantee that this free time will be productive is to make a list of things that are not time-sensitive but that you want to prioritize. If you want to take an online course, clean out your shed, take up a hobby, connect with an old friend, or check out that new museum or restaurant in your area, you are more likely to do so if you have written it down on your list. Perhaps these are things you have been putting off “until the right time” but the right time never comes because you aren’t in a mindset of looking for productive things to do when you are given an extra 20 minutes, hour, or day. You will likely find that inserting these tasks and activities into your schedule will add balance to your life and give you just enough of a break from the mundane to spark your creativity and get you excited about your goals. Your challenge after listening to this episode is to make a list of 20 things to do in 2020 when you have extra time. They will play longer and happier and be able to just come in and strip off the top layer and be ready to keep playing inside without a total wardrobe change. Hey girl, QQ- have you joined our email list yet? If not: Subscribe now lots of good stuff coming :) Now in this Episode: Being willing to suck at first Pay attention to the advice you give yourself Building confidence through feedback Putting yourself out there to LEARN Everybody SUCKS at the beginning. Right? That may have caught you off guard, but it is SO TRUE! Honestly, I think we forget that most of the time when we start something new, we really SUCK. But if you think about it, that's actually a GOOD thing, because it's how we learn & grow and ultimately get better. So today I really wanted to give you two simple and tangible rules that you can apply to help change your mindset around “sucking” at something new and embracing that it’s just a part of the whole process! I hope this helps girl & I can't wait to hear what you think! Quotes: “That type of concept of putting yourself out there, being willing to suck & then just learn as you go is so powerful.” “What about, if we decided that we will not give ourselves advice that we wouldn’t say out loud to our best friend, or our daughter, when she was chasing a big goal.” “We have to suck or we literally cannot get better. We can’t improve.” “How can we actually get feedback or get better if we’re never NEW at something?” “Even if you suck at first, you’re putting yourself out there. Former NFL football player Steve Gleason founded a charity, Team Gleason, helped create the largest ALS research project in history, has a congressional medal of honor, a law passed in his name and is the star of a Super Bowl commercial and film about his life. Most importantly, he is a proud father of two kids -- Rivers and Gray. Steve accomplished all of the above and more while unable to walk, talk, eat or breath on his own. Steve shared his story with ALL THE WISER while typing with his eyes. He recorded and banked his vocabulary to preserve his authentic voice which you will hear in his candid interview on finding his purpose, the pitfalls of being called a hero, his insecurities, hope for his children and the things he misses most about his life before ALS. In Today’s Episode: Being told he will be dead in 2-3 years (3:58) Losing his ability to walk and talk (5:54) A day in his life 8 years after being told he would not live (10:02) How to live a meaningful life with ALS (13:52) How ALS affects families (20:27) Why he believes technology saved his life (22:42) A trip to space and changing the the future of ALS with virtual reality and artificial intelligence (31:13) Wise Words: Would I spend all my time left, would I spend the time searching for ways to be cured, or would I try to do whatever I really wanted to check off the bucket list? (4:50) People with nothing left to lose have nowhere to go but up. (9:48) As someone who’s lost most of his physical abilities over the past 20 months, I can tell you that the anticipation of loss is worse than the actual loss itself. (15:06) ALS is a remorseless and humiliating disease. It can annihilate families. Spouses become unrecognizable to each other, veiled in frustration, anger and shame. Michel and me included, life begins to unravel into chaos as the person with ALS becomes more reliant on their spouse, and before anyone realizes it, frustration and resentment and shame end up clouding the entire relationship. (20:27) It’s really true for all relationships. If you can’t communicate honestly and if you can’t have compassion for the other person’s pain, you have no relationship. But ALS magnifies and intensifies that principle. Michel and I were in the low point. Our breaking point. Fortunately we found a way to thaw the ice, start communicating openly, and understand each other. Things are very different than before I was diagnosed and we definitely struggle, but we’re in a good place. We communicate well and we’re a tightly forged team. (21:20) I’ve thought a lot about suffering, and I notice it doesn’t matter whether you are poor or wealthy, white or black, talented or untalented. It doesn’t matter if you have ALS or not. Every human experiences suffering, and some people who have any type of chemical imbalance or mental illness, they suffer mightily to stay positive. Every human experiences suffering. While I’m not saying we should complain all the time, it’s our most powerful tool as humans to share our pain and vulnerabilities with each other. (27:11) I rarely get caught up in the things that I cannot do. I suppose that means that I’m either really stubborn or I like to think that if a person can find the way to live a fulfilling and meaningful life, things like walking around or talking far and away is less important to a person if they can feel they are making an impact in other ways. On this episode of the Early Accountability Podcast, our guest is Chandell Stone, founder of Destination Teach. During grad school, Chandell became aware of a school in rural Kenya that was in need of a little TLC. She and a friend came up with the idea to send a group of myelinated volunteers who would pay their own way to serve the school and spend some time getting to know the culture and people of Kenya. Destination Teach has since become an organization and has continued to send approximately 100 participants per year to Kenya and Morocco, and they will initiate a trip to Haiti this year. Chandell and the trip participants have found this trip to be mutually beneficial, as the participants are able to visit the homeland of their ancestors and native Africans are able to get to know the African-American culture a bit better. In the future, Chandell hopes to create some university partnerships and a gap year program for boys, as well as continue to work of sustainable development in Kenya through scholarships, projects such as libraries, and training for the teachers at the schools they serve. Topics Covered in this Episode: -Being the solution to a problem in the world -How volunteering can open your eyes to another culture -The ripple effect of service
Todd Parker of Parker Education & Development LLC joins us on this episode of the Early Accountability Podcast to discuss using personality mining to build up the climate and culture of schools and small businesses. In a very practical sense, teachers and other professionals cannot do their best work and affect the most change in their students or clients if they do not first understand themselves. By going through a strengths-based assessment and “personality mining” process, individuals gain valuable self-awareness and understanding of their mind, body and spirit needs and motivations. These individuals have the opportunity to influence how they interact with each other, with their leaders, and with their students or clients by leading by example and experience. A few of the entrepreneurship lessons that Todd has learned in the past several years are: • If you put in the work, you can do what you may not have expected • Make sure you grow from obstacles and failures, rather than being discouraged by them • Pursue your passion and trust that the right opportunities will come up Topics Covered in this Episode: • Being a mentor and being mentored • Entrepreneurship lessons • Using self-reflection and self-awareness to be more effective
