How To Find Great Business Ideas?Today we cover the story of a little-known Thai entrepreneur, his name is Itthipat Peeradechapan, nicknamed Tob because I can't repeat that name over and over again. His story highlights how you can start a business starting from nothing. His story shows, that you can make money selling something as simple as seaweed to become a multi-millionaire!Tob had an estimated worth of $600 million according to Forbes in 2018, at that time, he was the 50th richest person in Thailand. In 2004, Itthipat founded Tao Kae Noi (Little Tycoon) Food and Marketing Co., Ltd. The brand sold fried seaweed snacks, which became highly popular among teenagers and office workers. In December 2015, the company had its initial public offer (IPO) on the Stock Exchange of Thailand, raising 1.8 billion baht. How You Can Start A BusinessThere are five questions that I learned from Dane Maxwell, pulled from his podcast and book ‘Start from Zero” These five questions can start any business you might want. They are as follows and meant to be asked of someone else:Over the last month, year, or a decade, what has been your most persistent and prevalent problem? How do you currently go about solving this problem? What happens if you don't solve the problem? What would your dream solution be? Or if you could wave a magic wand, how would you or what would you do to solve the problem?Would you be willing to pay for the solution? If so, how much?Use these questions as a springboard, to build a business that others have already stated they would pay for, what are people willing to do in order to build a fantastic business?

Water outages continue in Jackson as treatment and distribution facilities struggle to reach pressure levels high enough to service parts of the city. Then, the Mississippi Tax Freedom Act receives scrutiny from policy analysts and state leaders.Plus, the Mississippi's Public Service Commission announces a comprehensive review of the the state's utility infrastructure.Segment 1:Water outages continue in the capital city following last month's severe winter event. Prolonged temperatures at or below freezing during the storm caused officials to shut down the city's water treatment and distribution facilities. Since returning online, the systems have not yet reached the pressure necessary to service parts of the city located far from the plants. During a briefing yesterday, Public Works Director Charles Williams said the department is doing a number of things to restore water. Jackson Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba says the city's facilities were not meant to be shut down for days - as they were during last month's storm. He says full restoration of water service comes down to one key factor.Segment 2:Last week, House Republicans introduced the Mississippi Tax Freedom Act - a comprehensive tax reform bill advocates say claim will attract new business and create new economic opportunities in the state. But some analysts say the plan could be ineffective in accomplishing that. Meg Wiehe is Deputy Executive Director at the Institute of Taxation and Economic Policy. In part two of her conversation with our Michael Guidry, Wiehe breaks down that philosophy and offers a comparative analysis to other states that have undergone similar restructuring.Lt. Governor Delbert Hosemann says the bill raises questions - especially regarding where revenues would balance cuts. He shared more on the bill during a press conference yesterday.Segment 3:Mississippi's three Public Service Commissioners are unanimously announcing comprehensive review of the Magnolia State's public utility infrastructure. The review comes on the heels of a recent weather storm that has resulted in lingering after-effects both at home and in other areas of the region - like Texas, where residents went days in frigid temperatures without electricity. This approach is the case of Dane Maxwell, who started out working as a hotel tech support. Dane would later learn business and sales, and marketing before venturing into SaaS development with no tech skills at all. Dane tells Geordie that many times the brain of an entrepreneur battle to identify that magic point. It is this confusion that deters you from identifying opportunities at the right time. Many times, another brand may crop up and do something differently that transforms the industry, and overtakes your product. According to Dane, as much as what you do matters, how you do it is more crucial. Dane talks about the launch and progress of his book project. Listen in to know everything about it. Dane ventured into the business world at 22 years old. He believes that had he started earlier, he would probably be worth much more than he is worth today. Dane opines that one of the highest return on investment (ROI) he has ever achieved was from hiring therapists for business matters. However, he is also quick to mention that finding a good therapist can be a difficult task. When is the best time to hire, and how do you identify the right person? Dane believes that companies can hire when they have the most leverage. They can also hire when customers come to them in search of solutions. Dane has more to say on this topic that you can only understand by listening to the podcast. Listen to find out his sentiments on finding the right person to hire. Dane discusses his book, Start from Zero, and explains that it is all about mindset. Listen to the podcast and learn more about this book and why every entrepreneur should read it. Often, Dane says, many people suffer in pursuit of an end to their current suffering. What happens if you focus your entire mind on this search? Listen to Dane’s answer to this question. Do you want to grow wealth? If you do, you need to listen to Dane as he explains the four brains to grow wealth. Dane says making money is neither mystery nor magic. He says, making money may be the easy part but keeping it can be a difficult task. He tells Geordie how to grow, and keep money. Marketing is a critical part of business success. Find out how Dane markets his business. Dane and his team have a specific structure for their blogs. You will need to listen to find this out. Joining me today is Dane Maxwell, a long-time friend, and mentor. Founder of The Foundation, an online education company that assists you in starting a business. He is an author and spoke at Advantage Live this past year, and guests of the conference loved his message. His new book, Start From Zero, was born from his passion of helping others start their business. “With proper copy, you can potentially build a million dollar to a six-figure business with just words.” Dane recently read from The Sixteen Word Sales Letter that all you have to do for excellent copy is define one belief and answer ten questions to have your copy that will sell. To create a great title, Dane suggests that your book title needs to be unique and come from within yourself. What are you feeling? How are you assisting others by telling your story? “If we are invested with our book title being successful, and that we in some way believe that our well-being depends on the success of the book, then that can create a state of survival and then can shut off a lot of creativity.” He suggests your book is a beautiful expression in the world and that your book is not identified with you. When coming up with a book title, Dane suggests to “Look at the deepest parts of you that don’t yet feel like having permission to be seen and allow yourself to be witnessed by the world. If you give yourself that permission, then stand in the title that comes from that experience.” Listen in to find why your book title is so important, how to find the right title for your book, and what Dane is doing for his book launch that no one else is doing right now. Learn how he successfully launched his book Start From Zero, how he is using his book to grow his business, and how to write words that sell. Show Notes [02:45] After starting over a dozen companies, why has Dane decided to write a book now? In this episode of the Millionaire Mindcast, we have Dane Maxwell who shares insights about  some things that haven’t talk about before, explains what real but not true is, what is identity crisis & how to work with it, how to make friends with your mind, the best business to start with, and how to become a superhuman profitable creator! Dane Maxwell is an entrepreneurial guru, Founder at Start from Zero, a platform that helps aspiring entrepreneurs to start a business with no ideas, no money, and no experience. He has built 2 million dollar businesses, he has 15 students that are all millionaires, very passionate about identity and creating very profitable enterprises, and building courses, and communities online making a difference for someone.  According to Dane, the worst thing and the best thing that you think of yourself are just thoughts. That’s not who you are either. Knowing oneself and self-awareness is necessary to achieve a happier life. We buy into illusions that if something happens, it will make us happy but it’s not. When we are happy & free that’s who we are.  On the other hand, Dane loves listening really deeply to people for their real problems. He listens to know whose life is going to improve. Ask quality questions and just listen to come up with solutions to a problem.  Dane reminds everyone that you’re worthy of helping someone and you’re worthy of solving someone’s problem. Also, he suggested not being expert in the mechanism that you’re providing because real entrepreneurs are not the people mastering their mechanisms. Just believe in yourself that you can do it! Some Questions I Ask: Who is Dane Maxwell? How do you describe who you are to people that don’t know who you are? (01:20) What is the narrative around identity right now that you do agree with or maybe don’t agree with that you think people should explore a little bit more that would serve them in a greater life? (11:21) How do you keep that awareness up on a daily basis in entrepreneurial or in general? (17:39) How do you find that balance that your ego doesn’t destroy you? (20:54) How have you seen people strike that balance between themselves of being a conqueror and achiever, and being extremely present, intuitive, and creative and connected to source? (26:06) How do you know when you really know yourself? (29:32) What internal head game has served you at a high level and created the massive, valuable, impactful business that you’ve created over the last 20 years of your entrepreneurial journey? (32:35) What is the mindset that people need to succeed in today’s current climate? (38:43) If you have some tools or resources to share with them right now, what do you want to share with them? (41:13) What are some of the things that you’re paying attention to right now that you want to push more into that will serve people and yourself at a higher level? (44:13) How does someone exercise patience (44:59) Does the training of an entrepreneur look the same for everybody or are there some core training fundamentals and principles that people can subscribe to? (47:05) As you get to the stage of your career & being financially free and building wealth, why you’re still doing what you’re doing? (49:47) In This Episode, You Will Learn Believing a thought versus Noticing a thought (01:24) Identity Addiction (03:29) How to build metacognition (06:31) Why identity does not make you happy (09:38) The way to work your identity (15:42) The methodology to make friends with your mind (21:29) Why you should not put your products and sell it through Amazon (35:18) The businesses that Dane can recommend (40:04) How to become a superhuman profitable creator (47:24) Quotes: “It’s more fun to create than you could ever imagine.” “Whatever you think of yourself is not who you are.” “We are whatever we get to decide we want to be.” “Identity does not make you happy.” “The best gems are hidden in the dark.” “When you’re okay with any experience you’re feeling, you’re in great territory.” “You will know how to act when you know who you are.” “Real entrepreneurs are not the people mastering their mechanisms.” “Entrepreneurship is a sport.” Connect with Dane Maxwell on: Website Start from Zero book by Dane Maxwell

Introducing Dane Maxwell Dane Maxwell is our guest today on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots business podcast. He is the Co-Founder of The Foundation along with Andy Drish, owner of a multi-million dollar SaaS business, and has started 16 businesses in his career. As he says "I've been an entrepreneur for over 10 years. I'm the Founder of The Foundation, a six month program designed to teach entrepreneurs how to build a profitable SaaS business, and currently own a multi-million dollar SaaS business as well as two smaller SaaS products where I do what I teach. If you dont know what that type of business is it means "Software as a service (SaaS)" Its a software distribution model in which a third-party provider hosts applications and makes them available to customers over the Internet. ... For example, a business can write its own software tools and use the SaaS provider's APIs to integrate those tools with the SaaS offering. Our guest goes onto say "I found building a business around a painful problem to be extremely lucrative and encouraged anyone who wants financial freedom to learn the process. I taught not to follow your passion, but to follow the pain, and become passionate about the process of problem solving.  His new book Start from Zero encourages the reader to embark on the 7 learning adventures to create a business from scratch. How The Dots Joined Up For Dane This book includes research on “who” is most likely to be successful in entrepreneurship across 26 different personality factors. Would you like to join the special few who don't exchange time for money? The special few who have products and businesses paying for their dream life? No hype. No BS. No fluff. This is a comprehensive book full of examples to draw from.  Start From Zero gives you the repeatable path to create a meaningful and profitable business without being dependent on any person, any platform, or anything. So is the idea more important than the actual implementation of that idea? And why are so many people focused on finding the passion, when pain works time and time again. Well let's find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Dane Maxwell Show Highlights During the show we discussed such deep subjects with Dane Maxwell such as: Dane shares the importance of setting his values and then living his life based around these values. Dane shares how building up the expertise and authority first is not necessarily the right way of doing things.  Why its so important to not sell your product but to sell the solution to their problem time and time again. And lastly........... Mr Maxwell shares his goals based book reading, whereby he looks for the answers on something that he needs to know, even if he doesn't read the whole book.

Dane Maxwell is a serial entrepreneur, the founder of  Zannee and the CEO of The Foundation program. He has taken his businesses from mere ideas to seven figure companies within a brief period of 5 years. Success Quote “All you have to do is care” – Dane Maxwell Key Points 1. All You Have to Do is Care  That's it. All you have to do is care. If you want to succeed at business, health, love, spirituality or any other facet of your life, all you have to do is care. You have to care about what you are doing more than you care about the next episode of American Idol or the next adult video you were going to watch. You have to care enough to get uncomfortable, to do the hard thing, to put in the work, to sweat, to cry and to bleed until you achieve your goal. If you want a great relationship. All you have to do is care If you want a successful, globally impactful business, all you have to do is care. If you want to live the life of your dreams and help as many people as you possibly can along the way. All you have to do is care. 2. Accept Devastation on a Daily Basis On the road to success, you will be devastated. It's all but inevitable. Part of the entrepreneurial lifestyle, and really life as a human being is accepting that at any moment you could be devastated on either a large or a small scale. If you want to lead a happy, fulfilled life, you must learn to accept this possibility and not run from it. If you live your life in constant fear of devastation and failure, you will never truly live. If you accept the inherent risk of this human existence and accept that devastation could occur at any moment, then you are free to live fully and openly. 3. With the Context of Unconditional Love There is No Concept of Worth  Everyone is familiar with the concept of worth. Be it net worth, social worth or self worth, we have all heard the term and are all well versed ascribing worth to everything in our lives, especially ourselves. However, Dane suggests that we should approach this concept from a completely different angle. Unconditional love. If you love yourself unconditionally there is no concept of worth, you are loves no matter how you are. No matter how well your business does. No matter if you are successful in your relationships, no matter if you feel lost and unsure, or on fire and passionate. This idea of radical, unconditional love for both yourself and everyone in your life is the powerhouse for transformation. 4. True Power Comes from Being Vulnerable in Community  We always speak of a confident man as someone who has his shit together. Someone who is unaffected by others and who feels a total independence from outcome. In the interview, Dane suggests that real power, true power, lies in authenticity and vulnerability. Real power lies in being able to look the people who are counting on you in the face and say “Guys I'm scared, I don't know what I'm doing.” When you open yourself up, when you are vulnerable and honest, you are confident. It shows that you are a man who is willing to be hurt, who is willing to be ridiculed and mocked and who is willing to admit his own weaknesses and shortcomings. True power lies in vulnerability 5. How You Treat Women is Indicative of Your Character One of the greatest indicators of a man's character is how he treats the women in his life. Men who treat women as party favors and objects to be enjoyed for a night before pissing off are likely the same in all other areas of their lives. Their interactions in business, health and spirituality are likely equally shallow and disconnected. If you want to be a great man, understand a woman's heart. Be willing to sit with her for hours while she shares her feelings without any concern for your own desires. Be willing to work at a relationship and work to connect with a woman. If you can understand the heart of a woman, you can unlock everything else in your life.

Tom Schwab began his professional life as a U.S. Navy officer running a nuclear power plant on an aircraft carrier. As his family grew, he decided to separate from the Navy and went into industry. He later started his own business selling alternatives to crutches, and along the way, cultivated his skills in marketing. Tom is now an inbound marketing specialist. He has been a speaker at HubSpot's Inbound conference. He equates inbound marketing with permission-based marketing and outbound marketing with interruption-based marketing. He works with clients one-on-one to help them formulate their overall inbound marketing strategy and to get them to go beyond buying their traffic and start earning it. He found that the best content for conversion is podcast interviews. The investment is minimal in terms of time, but the ability to talk directly to customers is amazing. Tom teaches and coaches his client's to grow their businesses using podcast interviews to reach a specific target audience. Please see Disclosure* (below) concerning affiliate links on this page. Key Segments [00:10] Ultimately, people want to buy. They want to solve their own problem. If you help to frame that and to show them that you might be a good solution, you have a much better chance of getting a great customer, an advocate, and the lifetime value of the customer, than somebody doing a one-and-done because somebody clicked a couple of ad words. [02:50] What is inbound marketing? It's about trying to help people buy. It's about helping them find answers to their questions. You can either earn attention by being helpful or buy attention. [03:40] Nobody really wants your product or service. They want relief from a problem they have. Those who help them solve their problem are the ones who build the brands. It has never been easier than today to make a transaction online, but it has never been harder to build a business and differentiate it. Talk to their pain. [04:25] How do you get your message out there? Blogs are pretty much saturated. They're not working as well as they did five years ago, but podcasts are up-and-coming. You can talk directly to your ideal customer by being on a podcast they already listen to. Blogs convert at 1 to 2 percent, but we found that podcast interviews convert at about 25 times that. [05:15] It's not just about getting on podcasts or just getting known. There's a strategy. We have a six step process to take people from listeners to visitors and from visitors to leads. [Listen to this section for the detailed steps.] This strategy doesn't cost anything except time, and it's repeatable. Sometimes you can even control when it goes out. For over a year, we did it with 12 clients one-on-one using over 500 different interviews to test the system then we started it as a course, a minimally viable product. We got feedback, improved it, added resources to it, and now it's a fully launched course. [10:15] Our company is called Inbound for eCommerce. Engineering dictated how I see the world. A lot of marketers think of the world as marketing; I think of it as an engineering problem to be solved. Today, data is telling you what people loathe and love. If a customer keeps telling you that they have a problem and need a solution, that's the next product you should build. Build a minimally viable product, put it out there, and ask them open-ended questions like: “What questions do you still have?” or “What resources do you still need?” Keep answering the questions and making the product better. [11:50] The course for being a podcast guest is one portion of our business. I also work with clients one-on-one to help them do their overall inbound marketing. We work with eCommerce companies to get them beyond buying their traffic and starting to earn it. But one of the things we stumbled on is that the best content we could find is podcast interviews. The investment is minimal in terms of time, but the ability to talk to your customer is amazing. [13:55] If someone comes to you with a SaaS product, what would the process look like to for you to work with them and get them on the right podcasts? The biggest thing is defining who they want to talk to. We can do this one-on-one. The online course also walks people through this, and we throw in two 30-minute coaching sessions with that. Most SaaS companies already have visitor-to-lead and lead-to-customer already built. What they struggle with is how to get people to their site. [15:35] Marketing is all about starting a conversation with your ideal customer. Are you going to buy ads or are you going to go out there and speak to your ideal customer? We help people get the word out through inbound marketing. How are you going to get new customers? Are you going to buy the traffic? How are you going to get in front of them to let them know that you exist? There's no better way to do that than content. If you buy attention, it's there, and it's gone. The next day you have to buy more. Content is always out there. [18:55] What is outbound marketing? That's the marketing that we all know and hate. Outbound marketing is interruption marketing. It's where someone is trying to sell something to you, to push it on you. It's not targeted. It's not helpful. It's focused on what I can get from you. [19:40] Inbound is focused on drawing people in and helping them by answering their questions and solving their problems. It's permission-based marketing. The cost of inbound is minimal. With outbound, whoever has the biggest budget wins. Our grandparents built businesses based on inbound marketing. They weren't using tricks or buying attention. They earned the attention. They had to serve their customers. They had a customer-centric model. Ultimately, people want to buy. They want to solve their problem. If you help to frame that and to show them that you might be a good solution, you've got a much better chance of getting a great customer, an advocate, and the lifetime value of the customer, than a company doing a one-and-done because somebody clicked a couple of ad words. [22:40] Concerning Goodbye Crutches, what are the alternatives to crutches? [25:20] The best SaaS companies have a good on-boarding process. They want to make sure you learn how to use their product. They want to make sure you see value in it. They want to make sure you differentiate it from other products, so that four months from now when you're going through your credit card statement, you think: “That brings value to me.” [26:15] Tom has spoken at a breakout session of the Inbound He provides some perspective and history. He talks about how the conference content gets shared thus amplifying its impact. [27:20] Tom will be speaking at OntraPalooza because of a podcast interview he did on how you can use user-generated content to tell your stories. As business owners, we are sometimes the worst people to tell our story because we start talking about features and how the product or company was built, but what people care about are the benefits. There is nobody better to talk about the benefits of your product than your customers. Tom hired a journalism student to follow up with customers who had written thank-you notes, interview them, get some pictures, and tell their stories. Each customer's story is different and resonates with a different buyer persona. [35:30] Tom is a big fan of intellectual cross-pollination to expose yourself to new ideas. If we always stay around the same people, who know the same ideas and read the same books and go to the same conferences, we'll never be exposed to new ideas. He loves listening to things like Ted Talks because you get exposed to different ideas. You can take an idea from somebody else's industry and apply it to yours. Read books from different industries. Attend conferences that are not niched to your area. [38:15] The biggest struggle any business has is getting the word out. The Internet makes it very easy, but there is a lot of noise. Don't try to get your word out to everyone because not everyone cares. Find a handful of people, the fans, and serve them well. If you serve them well, they will probably tell their friends who are just like them. [39:00] Tom makes an offer to listeners for a 30-minute webinar specifically targeted at SaaS. He will cover how to build your business by reaching your ideal customers as a podcast guest. At the end of the webinar, there will be a special offer for his online course. Andy Drish had his dream job in his early 20s, working for a Fortune 250 company in marketing. Then a midlife crisis hit, and he threw it all away. He quit his job, broke up with his girlfriend... and even abandoned his puppy (don't worry; the girlfriend took the puppy). Andy then embarked on an entrepreneurial journey, eventually founding Referral Squirrel, a website designed to help Realtors get more referrals. In the process, he became passionate about writing copy that is effective and grows your business. In this episode, he shares some very practical tips for how to writing great copy can be used to increase your revenues. These are lessons he learned from the masters of copywriting. Today, Andy is the co-founder of The Foundation, a fast-growing online training course he leads with Dane Maxwell. The Foundation borrows ideas from Agile software development and Lean Startup methodology to train entrepreneurs how to develop new business ideas, without committing vast sums of money and time to an idea before it has been validated. The Foundation is the real deal. It is a 6-month-long, intensive training program that requires a substantial commitment from its students. However, those who commit have a chance to be really successful. I have clients who are graduates of The Foundation, and I can say they are doing really well, thanks to Andy and Dane's trainings. By the way, The Foundation starts a new class this fall. Hop on their email list so you know when it opens, if you are interested. Enjoy!
