All videos and episodes can be found at https://www.bibleborn.com/In This episode we get deeper into why we worry so much as human flesh. Why do we worry about everything and how worry can be a gateway into anxiety/ depression which can then lead to the wordly / fleshly search for instant gratification. When we worry about the past (memory or future (imagination) we are setting ourselves up for feelings of regret (depression/past) or feelings of (anxiousness/ future). Will I be enough? Will I make enough? What will I be doing in 5 years, 10 years? If we allow ourselves to stay here (where satan wants us to always be), then the only logical places we will search for a fix is the world and the flesh. (focus on flesh find flesh, focus on spirit find spirit). The longer we allow ourselves to stay focused on the world and the flesh the harder we are making it on ourselves and the more we are keeping ourselves vulnerable to sin. Sin can come in many forms, shapes, sizes and it doesn't always look bad on the surface. If we are not careful when we are in the vulnerable (worrysome state) we can get caught in here . Maybe its having "one drink" or going out for "one hour", or going to the casino for "1 meeting" then all the sudden we are caught back into old habits or we find ourselves creating new ones to "FILL THE VOID". Solomon was the master of this and by creating his own worldly kingdom he kept himself in this state of misery for most of his adult life. In chapter 3 of ecclesiastes he found that everything has its time (we do not control this so why worry at all? )Music: Climb by Shane Ivers - https://www.silvermansound.com

There is a fight, but the fight has shifted. In this portal the team allow the spirit of God to shift the focus. There has been such a fight and concentration to be free. We all want to be free from old mindsets, thinking, and cycles in our life. God is leading us out of Egypt as our great deliverer, and we are moving into the season of where we are exchanging us for Him. This is a constant process in our life, but there has to be another step to walking into the total freedom of Jesus Christ. In this special episode of PORTALS LIVE, host Shenaya Annise sits down with our Senior Leadership -- Dr Robyn Kassas, Ps. Tony Kassas, and Ps. Nathan Kassas -- to ask what's next? What do we do when the void occurs? There is vacuum that must be filled so that the enemy cannot fill it with even a worse state of bondage. Filling the void is so important, because it determines whether or not we take the land of promise or continue to live in cycles of the wilderness. Dr Robyn challenges us with the statement, "If you are tired of fighting, it's because you have never really fought". This statement alone is so challenging, but this and so much more life is poured in through each person. So your fight has changed and it's time to recognize it. The Spirit of the Lord declares, "If you fought so long to finally be free...then now you must fight to be filled, so you are not left empty!". --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/portals/message

The other three conferences in the Power Five (Big 12, ACC, SEC) will forge ahead with truncated schedules. The Mountain West also decided to postpone play. Why is it that we march, protest, even riot for George Floyd, Rodney King, Michael Brown — but not for ANY Black Woman killed by the police? Who speaks up for Breonna Taylor beyond the grave? Where are the champions of Sandra Bland, found hanging in her jail cell & called a suicide? This week, Dr. Venus discusses if Black Lives Matter is code for Black “Men’s” Lives Matter, and if this means going back to the historical positioning of Black Women as less valuable than Black Men in terms of social change. This episode is not about blame or divisiveness, but realizing that police murder is not good for ANY gender or race. There is no hierarchy in pain, but there is a purpose. All Black Lives matter, and it’s not equal if everyone doesn’t get the same fight.    Key Takeaways:  [2:48] The police officers who have killed Breonna Taylor have still not been brought to justice.  [4:51] We are dealing with the historical wound where Black Female bodies have been disposable and seen as having little to no value.  [9:20] When we say Black Lives Matter, what is conjured up in the psyche of American character is Black Straight Cis Men, and not the subcultures that have not been automatically accepted, such as trans or queer. Black Men have become marketing for the movement, but we need to realize that all Black Lives Matter.  [13:01] Intersectionality is the conversion of gender, race, sexuality, and class. [14:39] Black Women have been fighting and marching and mobilizing in major ways all along. We have been right there on the front lines. [15:55] Black Women often find it so much easier to fight for others than for themselves, when really we should all get the equal fervor and energy of the movement. [18:20] Historically, Black Women were not considered human, and were to be detained and used to create free labor, savage beasts to be tamed and used. The slave woman was seen as a workhorse, scapegoat, cash cow, or beast of burden. The social positioning of Black Women had these roles, which took away their credibility and painted them as angry, too strong to feel pain, or sexually promiscuous. Mammy (heavy set/caretaker) Tragic Mulatto (close to white/prize) Jezebel (ho’) Sapphire (Angry Black Woman) [25:40] If we took Black women out of this world, we would fail. We need them in every institution. [27:50] If we don’t value and fight for us, then how could the world value and fight for us?   Quotes: “If you don’t know what’s happening then you are only looking from a heterosexual normative straight Black Male lens, even if you don’t know it. Then, anything that doesn’t fit that lens looks like a problem.” “When a Black woman gets dead by the police it’s like she isn’t even important enough to investigate.” “We relate to Black women like we are disposable. Like we are not precious. That we are replaceable.” “ If we don’t value and fight for us, then how could the world value and fight for us?”   Mentioned:  Dr. Venus Website | Facebook | Twitter | Instagram  “Hot Mess Millionaire” Amazon Series  Free Gift When You Join The Truth Tribe The Black Woman Millionaire Hot Mess Edition  Join the conversation! De-funding the Police is Becoming the New Battle Cry Finally we have some type of plan from the protesters and it's a doozy!  On the last episode, we covered how a city council in Minnesota voted to defund the police and enact humanistic plans.  Now, the movement is gaining steam.  Is that so wrong?  The main issues we all will face are these: Who will fill the void? Will privatization be less corrupt than public? Who will investigate murders, sexual crimes, sex trafficking, etc.? Even though some think that this idea is crazy we can all agree on this - major police reform is needed.  Especially if we take into account the shear size and scope of federal law enforcement officers.  Let's take a walk through Washington, D.C. via this piece from Politico to see just how many officers we have in one city. What Will Change the Current Climate Around the World? As Christians, our desire is to see souls changed with the Gospel of Christ.  So what is the best way for us to do this?  The first, and hopefully the most obvious, should be to teach the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  He alone has the power to change the hearts and minds of individuals.  It is incumbent upon Christians to seek understanding.  This article from Ken Sande gives some great starting points for consideration. Feeling worried and stressed about our uncertain future, now that we're living through a global pandemic?Yep, us too. Because does ANYONE know what our world will look like in six weeks' time? Let alone six months' time? No matter what those in charge claim, no-one really knows what's coming after Covid-19.When the only thing we can be confidently certain about is what we're eating next, uncertainty is everywhere. And when us humans have too much uncertainty to face, we start to fill this void with our own projections - which can be pretty wild.In this episode, Becky Howard and psychologist Lucy Clyde explore the destabilising nature of uncertainty that the coronavirus pandemic has landed on us all. Why is it so hard for us to cope with? Why do some of us decide that a military coup is the next logical step? And what is there that we can actually be hopeful about? Thanks for listening and follow us on Twitter @cope_podcast See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Gun control policy is one of the issues of the decade. The debate goes on in D.C., Maryland, and Virginia (DMV) as to if firearms is more of an asset or a liability. D.C. doesn’t have gun shops to purchase firearms but does allow residents to obtain a gun in other states as long as they follow the proper procedures. Virginia is very lenient in their rules and even has an advocacy group fighting for the removal of gun control laws. Maryland has pretty stern regulations on owning a gun. Even with such strict restrictions on guns, Maryland routinely ranks among the most dangerous states in terms of violent crime statistics. DC is on record pace with 33 homicides year to date. In the mist of recording we got the news of Nipsey Hussle being shot 6 times then finding out he passed away from his injuries. It was sad to get the news but, went to the topic of discussion. Episode 14 dives into the physical things we use to fill the voids in our heart only God can fill. Living With Less Physical Compulsiveness is something God has been with me every step of the way in regards to overcoming these 3 areas in my life. Sex, food, and spending money. We serve a mighty and forgiving God. Who wants nothing more than for us to turn to Him and begin living a life in pursuit of Him. Romans 12:2 gives us the guidance to keep our feet to God's path as we allow Him to restore our brokenness. Compulsiveness irresistible urge, gripping, uncontrollable We need to first see that these words when not linked with the gospel are NOT good. They are NOT holy. They are tempting and typically devastating to our lives. Nothing should ever be taking over our life other than living out Christs calling in our lives. Sex Using sex not within God's design was all based on insecurity in my life. I was trying to fill a deep desire of feeling loved by a guy instead of seeing I didn't need a mans approval to be deemed lovable. God calls us "his beloved". Sex can also be used in the wrong context within marriage, be sure you and your spouse are on the same page at what you both feel comfortable with. Don't fall prey to the lie that satan will try to plague you with. If you've struggled with this area he will try to convince you that if you've done it all before it doesn't matter. THIS IS A TRAP FROM THE PIT OF HELL. With Christ all things are redeemable. My prayer during the season of when we put God at the center of our relationship before we were married: God please be bigger than my temptation. Find a good Godly accountability partner, that can check in with you every week! Food I constantly teetered back and forth from eating my feelings or choosing to not eat enough to feel in control. The enemy is going to try to fill your mind with reminders that you'll never get past this, BUT I'm here to tell you, YOUR GOD IS GREATER. Romans 12:2 gives so much insight into this trap of eating issues. It can be overcome when we allow Christ to control and renew our minds another great took is a good Christian Counselor. Spending Money There is a difference between treating ourselves from a bad day and self care to keep ourselves feeling rejuvenated every once in a while. It starts with one thing then snowballs into $80+ dollars down the drain - only leading to feeling worse than we started. We find ourselves explaining we deserve something when really we don't deserve anything that's been given to us. When we start looking at our things as OURS, we're in trouble. They are God's. (this is very hard to me as well) When we start to believe we control our own happiness we're headed down a deep hole. Christ controls my happiness, better yet Christ controls my FULLNESS. Doesn't this look like a scary picture when we run to buying something vs. going to God about our situation. Example: Latte > Jesus. This is crazy, I just put $3.49 latte from Starbucks over Jesus. WOAH, wake up call. All 3 of these areas I talked about today have one thing in common they are all used to fill a deep void only God can fill. Sex, food, and a new purse won't renew me, they won't fill the gaping hole in my heart only Christ can mend, I end up worse off than I started and feel farther from God. Seneca wrote constantly about time. One of his most compelling observations was about how people are protective of their money, their property, their possessions, yet careless with the one thing they can’t get back. “It’s not that we have a short time to live,” he said, “but that we waste a lot of it. Can you imagine what he would say about the fact that today people average more than 5 hours a day on mobile devices? That’s 52 days a year—one-seventh of our lives—murdered! Cal Newport’s excellent new book Digital Minimalism, which just released this week, is an attempt to change that--to focus on limited time on the things that matter (deep work, family, being present, even the study of philosophy). In our interview with Cal for DailyStoic.com, he explained the two reasons why this is increasingly easier said than done. The first is that there are really smart computer scientists specifically engineering these devices and social media platforms to foster compulsive use. The second: “It fills a void. Life is hard. This hardness is especially manifested during those periods of downtime when you're alone with your thoughts. People avoid these confrontations through constant, low quality digital distraction much in the way that people of another era might have dealt with these difficulties with heavy drinking. But this is just a band-aid over a deeper wound.”How should we fill the void?“As the ancients taught us, the sustainable response is to instead dedicate your free time toward things that matter. Take on as much responsibility as you can bear, seek out quality for the sake of quality (as Aristotle recommends in The Ethics), serve your community, connect with real people in real life and sacrifice for them. All of this can seem daunting as compared to clicking "watch next" on your Netflix stream, but once engaged in these deeper pursuits, it's hard to go back to the shallow.”What if instead of reaching for our phones for even a dozen of the more than 2,600 times per day (!!) the average user engages with their mobile device, we reached for a journal and a pen? Or a book? Or what if we reached for nothing at all and just stared at the ceiling lost in thought? There are few problems you couldn’t solve if those 5 hours per day were spent thinking instead of scrolling. Put some distance between you and your devices today. Fill the void with things that add value to your life.

We get caught up with people....we all do.  We put our hopes in them, are confident in their decisions and how they'll impact our lives, and trust some without question.  We assume if their outer image satisfies what we value then we may not probe any further into who they really are.  People may be impressive on the outside, but what about the inside.  Many times we won't respond to the call of God because others "look" more able, talented, or fit the image we think we lack on the outside.  We have to move past appearances and even begin to see ourselves as God does.  Sometimes there's a void God wants to fill, and it isn't with someone else, it's YOU!

A Filmklub podcast harmadik adásában a velencei filmfesztiválon szerzett élményeinkről beszélgetünk. Vendégünk Bognár Péter, a magyar filmforgalmazás szürke eminenciása (vagy mostanában bujdosó Rákóczija), aki az utóbbi pár évben a Magyarhangya mozgalom társalapítójaként puhatolja, hogyan lehet kultúrát eljuttatni a közönséghez. A velencei felhozatalból tizenöt filmről ejtünk szót: The Master, Fill The Void, Passion, Pieta, Outrage: Beyond, Spring Breakers, To The Wonder, Thy Womb, Paradise: Faith, Betrayal, The Company You Keep, Me Too, Harry Dean Stanton: Partly Fiction, Bad 25, The Tightrope. Kiderül, hogy miért a velencei a legszimpatikusabb filmfesztivál, kitárgyaljuk a szombat este kiosztott díjak jogosságát, és megpróbáljuk megsaccolni, hogy a Velencében bemutatott filmek közül melyikeket láthatjuk majd a magyar mozikban is.
