Welcomed: "Courage Required" (Acts 14) - Week 7

Following Jesus was never meant to be comfortable — and Acts 14 makes that unmistakably clear. In this week's message from our "Welcomed." series, we see Paul and Barnabas face opposition, miracles, misunderstanding, and suffering, all while pressing forward with the gospel. The welcome of Jesus is a courageous welcome. It requires doctrinal courage — the kind of patient, persistent commitment to the good news that keeps showing up and speaking truth even when the response is slow or hostile. It requires courage to respond in faith, trusting the work of God not just in dramatic moments of healing but in every ordinary area of life. It requires the courage to walk humbly, resisting the pull toward pride and self-promotion that can subtly derail even the most sincere ministry. And it requires the courage to get back up — because the road of faithful witness will include setbacks, and the question is never whether we'll get knocked down, but whether we'll rise again. Jesus himself modeled this kind of dependent, courageous life, and through Him, we're invited to do the same. For more information about Integrity Church, visit our website, http://liveintegritychurch.orgConnect with us on social media throughout the week to stay up to date on events and things happening at Integrity!Instagram: @integrity_churchFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/liveintegrity/

How do you get back up after a life-shattering loss? How do you find hope when you must surrender to God the life you thought you'd have?Courtney Pray Duke was living her dream with her husband, Andrew, and their three young children when one day changed everything. As she was putting the finishing touches on Thanksgiving preparations, Andrew—an avid cyclist—went out for a bike ride. Just a few hours later, Courtney received the call that divided her life into a before and after: her husband had been hit by a vehicle and did not survive. In the depths of unimaginable grief, Courtney clung to God and slowly discovered the hope she had in Him in her darkest season. She shares that journey through heartbreak, faith, and restoration in her book And She Got Up: Shattered by Loss, Restored by Jesus. In this episode, Davey talks with Courtney about the power of surrender in the midst of pain, how to discern where God is leading when life takes an unexpected turn, and why remarriage after loss can be both beautiful and complicated as families blend and grief continues to be honored. If you've ever wondered how you could possibly get back up after being shattered by loss, this conversation will point you to the healing and hope that can be found as Jesus restores us—step by step—along the journey. This episode was a hard one to record and an even harder one to share. It is a real-time processing of what I'm going through right now. I'm coming to you after one of the hardest months I've had in a long time. Something significant happened in my personal life — something I'm not able to share the full details of because other people are involved. But what I can share is this: I got knocked completely on my ass. My confidence was shaken. All the progress I felt like I'd made seemed to evaporate overnight. And for a while, I really didn't handle it well.I'm sharing this because I think we need to have an honest conversation about what personal growth actually looks like — outside of the highlight reel version, the quantum leap and the "I've figured it all out" energy. The real version where sometimes, even when you're doing all the work, life still shows up and floors you.In this episode, I share:✧ What happened, as much as I'm able to share — and why I felt it was important to show up and say it out loud✧ Why anger is a mask for something deeper and what happens when we stay on the surface instead of going underneath✧ Why being in the mess is actually the only way through it✧ The tools I've been using to move through this and why even doing all of the things doesn't mean you'll be "over it" on any particular timeline✧ Why forcing yourself to move on never works and why that's also just a natural part of being human✧ The dangerous myth that personal growth means never falling down PLUS why we need to de-expert the experts and take everyone off pedestals✧ Why shame around struggling is one of the most isolating forces in the wellness space and the Wild Free Well way to dismantle it✧ The one thing that will carry you through every hard seasonTimestamps: [00:00] – Introduction & vulnerability warning (starting before I'm ready) [02:06] – What happened: a difficult personal situation, knocked off course [03:52] – The "woe is me" phase — normalizing the lived human experience  [05:29] – The importance of actually feeling your emotions, not bypassing them [08:28] – Anger as a mask for grief, disappointment + loss [09:45] – Why grief is harder than anger — and why we avoid it [12:12] – Removing shame from being human / de-pedestalling coaches, experts and other humans  [17:42] – The problem with curated online lives + the perfection myth [25:25] – What tools I used to move through it [27:00] – Forgiveness: an honest update[29:10] – Leaning into grace and self-compassion  [30:30] – The takeaway: normalize the mess, love yourself through it This episode is raw and real and everything I've ever hoped the podcast would be. It's not polished or refined. It's not shiny and sparkly. And it might be exactly what you need to hear today.Because here's what I know for sure: you are always doing the best you can with what you have. Even in the worst moments. Even when it doesn't feel like it. And the fact that you're here, on this path, doing this work — means that you're brave enough to face the ups and downs of life with grace and self-compassion. → This is the kind of work I do with my coaching clients — not just the high vibe manifestation stuff, but the real, deep, identity-level work. Together we navigate the hard seasons and come back stronger + more empowered. If you're in a difficult moment right now and you'd love support, I'd be honoured to walk alongside you. www.candicealessia.com/coaching WANT THE JUICE?

The hardest part of growth is not finding the next big move; it is staying loyal to the basics when your ego wants a shortcut.   Backup plans can become excuses. Change creates pressure. Discomfort has a way of showing you whether you are serious about growth or just interested in the idea of it.   Dr. Andrew Fix reflects on a recent conference and brings the lesson home in a clear way: most progress comes from doing the basic things well and doing them long enough to matter. He also digs into a harder question. Who are you around, and are those people pushing you to raise your standard? This conversation is a reminder that real growth usually feels uncomfortable before it feels rewarding, and the people who move forward are the ones who keep getting back up.   Quotes “There is no magic formula. There's no magic bullet. There's no Harry Potter magic wand that is gonna help you get from point A to point B or accomplish whatever it is that you're trying to accomplish, you need to master the fundamentals. You need to master the basics.” (03:20 | Dr. Andrew Fix) “If you are always the smartest person in the room, if you're always the fittest person in the room, it is going to take a ton of effort and intention to continue to challenge yourself.” (05:02 | Dr. Andrew Fix) “It's easier to just stay the same, but it's so much worse, right?” (07:33 | Dr. Andrew Fix) “Change is very, very hard. It's hard mentally, it can be hard physically, it can be very stressful.” (08:15 | Dr. Andrew Fix) “Getting back up is the only backup plan you need.” (10:58 | Dr. Andrew Fix)   Links   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yyd5kmngrOU   SideKick Tool   Movemate: Award-Winning Active Standing Board 15% off Promo Code: DRA15   RAD Roller   Revogreen   HYDRAGUN    Athletic Brewing 20% off: ANDREWF20   Connect with Physio Room: Visit the Physio Room Website Follow Physio Room on Instagram Follow Physio Room on Facebook Andrew's Personal Instagram Andrew's Personal Facebook     Podcast production and show notes provided by HiveCast.fm

When life knocks you down how do you get back up again? In this Easter message, we walk through the resurrection story in Matthew 28 and discover that getting back up doesn't start with strength or willpower. It starts with surrender. The women at the tomb were afraid yet filled with joy. The disciples worshiped yet still had doubts. And Jesus didn't push any of them away. He walked toward them and gave them purpose. Real faith isn't the absence of fear; it's the presence of Jesus in the middle of it. Whether you're carrying grief, wrestling with doubt, or unsure of your next step, this message is an invitation to start at the feet of Jesus and trust that He is with you always.0:00 When life doesn't go according to plan4:52 The Easter story6:58 The women walk toward the tomb9:15 Keep walking toward Jesus in your grief11:21 Afraid yet filled with joy13:55 Jesus appears16:47 Getting back up starts with getting down18:26 Start your day at the feet of Jesus20:19 Worship replaces fear and reveals purpose21:44 The enemy's counter-plan24:16 The disciples worship with doubts26:44 Doubt is not the opposite of faith28:12 The Great Commission30:53 "I am with you always"32:04 Prayer and ministry timeSupport the showMade a decision to follow Jesus? What's it like to grow up with a front-row seat to fame, only to find yourself center stage in a story you never saw coming? In this episode, Cleere sits down with the radiant and real Mattie Jackson—author, speaker, podcast host, and daughter of country music legend Alan Jackson—for a conversation that's equal parts heartache and healing, grit and grace.Mattie opens up about what it was like to grow up in the spotlight, and how even that couldn't prepare her for the deep grief of losing her husband just months into marriage. She shares how grief can shape us into people we barely recognize—not because we're weak, but because we're suddenly living in a world we never prepared for. And yet… God.This episode is rich with wisdom, full of laughter, and tenderly honest. Together, we talk about: • What happens when your life no longer looks like your life • The “limbo years” where God rebuilds slowly and sweetly • How to stay open to joy, even when it feels like betrayal • Why grief doesn't cancel your calling—it deepens it • What Mattie's learning now about love, dating, and rebuildingWhether you're walking through loss, navigating transition, or just wondering how to hold joy and sorrow at the same time, this conversation will remind you: even in the ruins, God is still writing beauty. Resilience gets a fresh take in this heartfelt conversation between Leslie Bolser and Dr. Beth Trammell, who strip away the buzzword status and reframe this essential life skill as something we practice every single day. Moving beyond the trendy "grit" narrative, they explore what resilience actually looks like from toddlerhood through the teenage years—and why some moments of bouncing back are naturally easier than others. The discussion shines particularly bright when examining how differently resilience manifests across age groups. For our youngest children, it might be the remarkable ability to move from throwing blocks to giving hugs in mere seconds. Elementary students benefit from learning to identify their emotions and their intensity—recognizing when they're at "anger level 10" when the situation only calls for a "level 4." And for teenagers? That missing white hoodie might represent something far deeper than parents initially recognize. What makes this episode especially valuable is the compassionate acknowledgment that resilience isn't equally accessible to everyone. Children facing ongoing challenges like depression, anxiety, bullying, or systemic barriers genuinely find emotional elasticity more difficult. Parents will find tremendous comfort in the reminder that they themselves demonstrate resilience constantly in ways they rarely celebrate or even notice. The permission to start small, celebrate tiny victories, and recognize resilience as an ongoing practice rather than an achievement makes this a must-listen for anyone raising or working with children today.Ready to rethink how you recognize and nurture resilience in yourself and the children in your life? Listen now and discover how bouncing back happens in the most ordinary moments of your day.Support the showwww.bethtrammell.com

“How can I cope with treadmill anxiety? Coming off of a mild ankle fracture, my first few weeks I was back up to speed. Lately, as soon as I go anywhere over a jog, I feel panicky, like I'm going to fall and have to slow down. I feel relatively sure it is all mental—but I'm wondering if you have any tips.” —Jennifer   In season 8 of The Injured Athletes Club podcast, mental skills coach Carrie Jackson answers a question every other week about the mental side of overcoming injuries.    This week, Coach Carrie addresses Jennifer's question about coping with treadmill anxiety as she returns to running. The reaction to increasing speed and intensity is an understandable one, she notes—the brain is trying to protect the body. And it's possible to work with your brain, not against it, to move forward.   To do so, start where you do feel comfortable and coach yourself forward. Provide reassuring messages as you gradually pick up the pace. Take time to make sure you're breathing. And have patience—your confidence will build as you reconnect important pathways between your brain and body.   Resources/links: Download the recording of The Injured Athletes Club Recovery Summit: The Athlete's Toolkit   A huge thank you to LEVER Movement, the exclusive sponsor of season 8 of The Injured Athletes Club podcast! Our Daily Bread Podcast | Our Daily Bread

As a teen, I was enthralled with the sport of figure skating. I loved the blend of artistry and athleticism on ice, with the fast spins, high jumps, and perfect poses. After watching many professional skaters perform, I finally got the opportunity to go ice skating and be part of a group lesson. Along with learning how to glide and stop, we learned some of the most important skills for a skater at any level—how to fall and get back up quickly. Later, I took private skating lessons from a coach for three years. I learned many spins and jumps, but always had to rely on the basics like knowing how to get up after a fall. We don’t have to be athletes to know that “falling” is part of life. Perhaps we fall because we’ve sinned, we stumble due to a mistake, or we get knocked down by an overwhelming circumstance. Maybe we find ourselves being attacked by the devil one way or another. “We are persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed” (2 Corinthians 4:9). No matter the reason, we all fall and experience failure in life. But we’re not meant to live in defeat, shame, or regret. When the enemy is lurking nearby and trying to plunder from us (Proverbs 24:15), we need to remember that God is fighting for us and will help us get back up, “for though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again” (v. 16). When we fall, let’s quickly turn to God and fix our eyes on Him who gives us the strength to get back up.

We took some Big Leadville Energy into this great episode! The main topic was the Silver Rush 50 Miler, which David raced on Saturday. The last few months have been a doozy, starting with the bike accident and severe concussion back in early April. It has been hard at times, in ways that go a lot deeper than athletics. This episode is about falling, and the power to GET. BACK. UP. The 50 Miler was David's best ultra yet, and it possibly sets up a date with destiny at the Leadville 100 in August (or not). It gave us an excuse to talk about so many fun topics: the decision to race after sickness, the non-linear mental health journey since the concussion, pre-race meals, Naked belts, road shoes in trail races, unconventional tapers, altitude racing, the logistics of high-carb fueling and how that relates to effort level, and whether to bicarb or not to bicarb. Plus lots more! And that was just the start of a celebration episode! Other topics: Tour de France stories including Mark Cavendish's legendary win record, embracing power and finding your strong, the most epic aero glasses, lessons from Klaire Rhodes' win at Mount Marathon, combining ketones and caffeine, the UK's ridiculous Olympic standards, Michelle Rohl's podium finish in racewalking at 58, and hot takes. David wore Hoka Mach Xs (a road shoe without any traction) for a 50 miler with tons of rocks. So maybe keep that in mind during his spicy shoe take at the end of this episode.
