The podcast series explores a game-changing understanding of the human mind that operates “Before Psychology” — the secret source that exponentially increases peace, performance, and potential for any individual or organisation. Why Some People Seem Lucky (And It's Not What You Think). This conversation is an exploration of something many people already sense — but rarely trust. Most people assume that if life isn't working, they need to try harder, think better, or fix something about themselves. But what if the opposite is true? In this episode of the Quality of Mind podcast, Piers Thurston is joined by entrepreneur and author James Eder, whose has been shaped by a sequence of opportunities, connections, and breakthroughs that seem to arrive when he's not forcing them. As you listen just notice when something feels lighter — and when it feels effortful. That contrast is the point. In James new book the Collision Code he recounters his stories of finding himself in moments of clarity, flow, and serendipity — often without trying to make them happen. Together, Piers and James explore: Why intuition feels obvious after the fact but hard to trust in the moment How effort and over-thinking quietly block clarity and momentum The difference between being committed to life and being attached to outcomes Why some experiences feel overwhelming at the time, yet trivial in hindsight How recognition changes experience more than understanding ever could This is not a “how-to” episode. It's an invitation to notice something you may already recognise in your own life — the moments when things worked best before you stepped in to manage them. If you're curious about performance, leadership, wellbeing, or decision-making — and you're tired of hacks and techniques — this conversation offers a different place to look. Rather than analysing this intellectually, the conversation invites listeners to notice the difference between effort and ease in their own experience — and what changes when the mind stops interfering. It's an exploration of something many people already sense — but rarely trust. About the guest: James Eder is an entrepreneur and the author of The Collision Code, a book exploring serendipity, connection, and the surprising role other people play in shaping our lives. If you've ever felt like your pipeline is out of your control, this episode is for you. It's common for independent consultants to think an unpredictable pipeline is just “how this works.” But that belief keeps them stuck in feast or famine, working with clients who underpay, don't fully value their expertise, and leave their skills underused. In Episode 244, Melisa reveals what's really going on beneath a stop-and-start pipeline and how to create consistency that lasts, no matter the market or your bandwidth. This episode breaks down the three root causes of pipeline unpredictability (none of which are the market, your niche, or your availability) and walks you through the Predictability Formula Melisa teaches inside her Lead Gen Sprint. She also challenges a common consulting mindset: waiting to work on pipeline until you need leads. That cycle is not sustainable. You'll walk away from this episode with a clear framework to break it.What you will learn in this episode:[06:58] Why most consultants misdiagnose pipeline issues, and how those false narratives keep you from creating sustainable lead flow.[10:12] The three true root causes of unpredictability (hint: it's not external, it's operational).[15:22] The Predictability Formula: mindset, system, and measurement, and how to apply it in your business.[24:55] A quick self-check to audit how predictable your pipeline really is and how to fix the gaps.Tune in to Episode 244 for practical ways to build a reliable, repeatable lead generation process that runs like a system, not a hope-and-pray cycle.Mentioned Resources1) Companion Resource: The Consultant's Lead Gen Effectiveness Scorecard 2) Full Show Notes: https://shownotes.melisaliberman.com/episode-244/3) Melisa's Books, Planners & Journals: https://linktr.ee/melisaliberman4) Related Podcast Episode: Episode 236 – Why Your Pipeline Isn't Filling (And It's Not What You Think) 5) Mentioned in this Episode: 1) Join the waitlist for the 2026 Lead Gen Sprint 2) OnePageCRM Want help achieving your consulting business goals? This week Nicola and Di chat with the wonderful and wise Penny Moodie. Penny is a writer, OCD advocate, mum of three and social work student. When she hears people say they’re ‘a bit OCD” about cleaning, she can’t help but feel frustrated. It took Penny 23 years to be diagnosed with obsessive-compulsive disorder and through her book The Joy Thief and her new podcast It’s Not What You Think, Penny reveals what living with OCD is like and gives encouragement to all those walking this path. In this episode, we chat to Penny about what it’s been like living with OCD, what it was like for her as a child, and the article she read in her twenties that gave her that a-ha moment where she realised that the intrusive thoughts she was having and the struggles she was facing may actually be OCD. Penny debunks some of the common myths around OCD and explains the difference between OCD and obsessive-compulsive personality disorder, which many people get confused about. She shares some of the funnier stories of the thoughts and compulsions she’s had in her life and the importance of humour when it comes to living with and managing OCD. Importantly, Penny talks about ERP therapy - which is the most beneficial type of therapy when it comes to treating OCD and gives some really great tips for what can help if you or a loved one might be struggling with this condition. We really loved chatting to Penny about this important topic and we found everything she shared so helpful. We hope you love this episode as much as we did. GLP-1s like Ozempic, Wegovy, and Mounjaro are everywhere right now—on social media, in ads, and maybe even in your own medicine cabinet. Are they magic? Are they cheating? Maybe even wondered should YOU be on one?In this long-overdue episode, I'm cutting through the confusion with my honest, no-BS take on GLP-1 medications—what they actually do (and what they absolutely don't), the biggest myths no one's talking about, and my real thoughts as a weight loss dietitian and coach. I'm sharing stories from real clients, the muscle loss nobody warned you about, and what you actually need to focus on if you want long-term, sustainable results—GLP-1 or not. We're talking appetite vs. emotions, why so many women regain weight after stopping meds, and the non-negotiable mindset shifts you have to make if you want to keep the weight off—plus, my honest answer to “Should I take it?”If you're on GLP-1s, curious about them, or feeling all kinds of ways about this whole convo, this episode is 100% for you. Jay Dial's journey from the terrifying, "deafening, blinding" world of professional bull riding to building a Colorado Springs rodeo empire is a powerful lesson in faith, risk, and entrepreneurship. After a moment in the bucking chute that felt like a divine message, he walked away from the sport he loved to answer a different calling: building a business from the ground up.In this episode of the COS Business Podcast, Jay Dial, founder of The Pioneer Rodeo, pulls back the curtain on his incredible story. He reveals the critical flaw he discovered in the traditional event sponsorship model, where businesses invest money but see little return, and shares the revolutionary, community-based system he built to fix it. This is a masterclass for any entrepreneur on how to create real, year-round value for partners and turn a local event into a thriving ecosystem.

From Trauma to Success, the Tip of the Spear Book. “I didn't come from privilege or a picture-perfect family,” says Magallan in recent interviews shared across Facebook , Instagram , LinkedIn , Medium and various other platforms. “My childhood was marked by violence and abuse. But instead of letting that define me, I let it drive me.” His father was arrested for drug abuse; his mother was verbally abusive. Against the odds, Rodney and his sister became the first in their family to graduate high school, a crucial first step on a long road to personal success. This episode of The Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast now streaming on for free on their website, in addition to Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and most major social podcast platforms. Rodney Magallan's life story is a powerful testament to resilience, determination, and the ability to transform pain into purpose. “From trauma to success” isn't just a catchy phrase, it's the very journey that Magallan has lived. Today, he is a decorated retired U.S. Navy SEAL, former U.S. Marshal, former CIA operative, and multi-award-winning author of the influential book Tip of The Spear, It's Not What You Think. Rodney enlisted in the US Navy and, through unrelenting hard work, became a SEAL, graduating with BUD/S Class 143 in July 1987. His SEAL career took him from SEAL Team 4 to the elite SEAL Team 6, with deployments across the globe. Eventually, he earned his commission as a naval special warfare officer and rose to the rank of Commander before retiring honorably in 2021. From Trauma to Success, the Tip of the Spear Book. Look for supporting stories about this and much more from Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast in platforms like Medium , Blogspot and Linkedin . Throughout his distinguished service, Rodney also held roles as a Deputy U.S. Marshal and an operative for the CIA, where he earned numerous commendations, including the CIA Exceptional Performance Award. His resume includes leading protective operations, developing new maritime capabilities, and instructing the next generation of operatives. Rodney's book, Tip of The Spear, challenges the notion that elite status is reserved for the privileged few. As he puts it, “The elite aren't different. If you have the work ethic, you can do the same great things.” He emphasizes that becoming part of the tip of the spear, whether in the military, business, or life, requires sacrifice, discipline, and conscious choice. The Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast episode is available for free on their website , Apple Podcasts , Spotify and most major podcast platforms. In Tip of The Spear, Rodney uses the spear as a metaphor for personal excellence. “It's not just about the spearhead,” he explains. “Every part of the spear, the shaft, the collar, even the hand wielding it, matters. Success isn't about one element; it's about the whole.” The book is more than a memoir; it's a call to action, a leadership guide, and an invitation for readers to define success on their own terms. From Trauma to Success, the Tip of the Spear Book. The book has garnered widespread recognition, including the 2025 International Impact Book Award, the 2025 PenCraft Book Award, and a Nonfiction Authors Association Bronze Award. Magallan's voice now reaches millions on the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast website, in addition to Apple Podcasts, Spotify and many prominent podcast platforms. Be sure to listen to hear how he continues to share his insights on leadership, resilience, and personal security. Available for free on their website and streaming on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and other podcast platforms. As Rodney states, “Stop looking at doctors, lawyers, CEOs, or Navy SEALs as the only markers of success. We each define our own success. The tip of the spear is a mindset, one that anyone can adopt.” For those seeking inspiration, practical advice, and a roadmap from trauma to success, Tip of The Spear offers all that and more. Send us a textThis episode “It's Not What You Think” is about how we process things and why we give so much attention to others behaviors and take it as if it were directed at us personally. Life does not have to be this complicated, how others act behave say usually has nothing to do with us, but even if it does it is not our business. If we have done something wrong to someone then yes we should take responsibility for that but everything else is just way too much baggage. To really enjoy our life, we need to put down that baggage and walk freely because we're surrounded by people, we're surrounded by scenarios and if we try to figure each one out we will have wasted our entire life trying to figure others out. This is our one shot at life let's enjoy it, it doesn't need to be complicated.Support the show

If you've been going to church for a very long time, you probably think "abiding" is something you do - and you don't have time for one more thing! Join us in this conversation to be reminded that abiding is NOT what you may think: It doesn't need to happen at a specific time. There is no need for a "secret place" - at least not in your house. It's not about checking "read my Bible" off your to-do list. It's not about praying because you think you're supposed to. It's not your bid to connect with Jesus. Good news! Abiding is a gift you receive, not a task you complete. It means being with Jesus in your mind and body instead of alone in your thoughts. It's a way of being with yourself that feels secure instead of insecure because you are not alone—and you're not powerless. The eight benefits you'll hear us discuss in this episode cannot be bought on Amazon, and you can't DIY these blessings either. The best part is that these benefits will change your life in the way of transformation instead of conformity. Transformation is a miracle we can't stop when we're with someone who loves us and gives us the gift of deep peace. Jesus is always available to be that Someone. In this episode, Doug and Janet walk you through a meaningful meditation that offers an abiding experience and shows you how simple it is. If this episode gives you permission to risk an abiding life, check out Janet's blog at john15academy.com. Find the post How To Abide - It's Not What You Think to discover a free PDF of Scripture references and a few journaling prompts. Listen now to discover eight benefits of abiding and the power of these takeaways: 1️⃣ Striving keeps us stuck in survival mode, but abiding brings peace, security, and real connection—first with Jesus, then in our families. We don't have to earn what God freely gives. 2️⃣ Abiding isn't just another thing to add to your to-do list. It's a way of being—living from a secure connection with Jesus, where love, wisdom, and peace flow naturally. 3️⃣ The benefits of abiding—like deep love, wisdom beyond our own, and true rest—can't be bought, earned, or manufactured. They're gifts we receive when we stop striving and trust that Jesus is enough. In part one of this two-part episode, Ralph and Lauren are talking about New Customer Acquisition Cost (NCAC). Sure, the mention of math might send some of you running for the hills, but hold on—this is the math that matters. Ralph compares finding your NCAC to searching for buried treasure, while Lauren reminds us that chasing vanity metrics like ROAS alone is as useful as an umbrella in a hurricane.Learn why NCAC is the North Star of scaling a business, how to measure it effectively, and what tools can make the process manageable. Ad platforms love to boast about their results but your bottom line—and how much it costs to add a new customer to it—never lies.As Lauren puts it: “Fake numbers might make you feel good, but they won't pay your bills.”Chapters:00:00:00 – Math That Matters: The Secret Ingredient for Scaling00:00:24 – NCAC: The Metric That's Cooler Than ROAS00:01:42 – Why Calculating NCAC Feels Like Cracking a Cold Case00:02:42 – Scaling Secrets: Unlocking Business Growth with Math00:03:47 – The Real Cost of New Customers (No, It's Not What You Think)00:06:10 – Lifetime Value: Measuring Love from Your Best Customers00:09:28 – Practical Math: When Numbers Lead to Dollars00:12:45 – Refunds, Returns & Regrets: Subtracting the Pain Points00:15:30 – Hidden Costs Unveiled: Shipping, Storage & Surprises00:18:05 – COGS: Decoding Cost of Goods Sold00:20:50 – Gross Profit: The Halfway Mark to True Success00:23:15 – Profit Checkpoint: COGS, Gross Profit, and What They Mean for You00:34:10 – A Special Perk for PT Fans: Wrap-Up & SurpriseLINKS AND RESOURCES:Tier 11Mongoose MediaTier 11 JobsPerpetual TrafficGet Your nCAC Calculation Guide Now!Marketing Performance Indicators™ ChecklistPerpetual Traffic on YouTubeTier 11 on YouTubeBy the NumbersConnect with Lauren on InstagramConnect with Ralph on LinkedInFollow Perpetual Traffic on TwitterThanks so much for joining us this week. As kids get older, what it looks like to stay connected to them changes. They may be less likely to share their innermost thoughts or snuggle up next to us on the couch; and by design, they're much more interested in friends, hobbies, and activities happening outside our direct sphere of influence. In today's episode, Meagan and Sarah share how we stay connected to our preteen, teen, and young adult children. From car ride convos and binge-watching shows to family group texts, we're sharing tips and stories on staying connected.
